Might be too early, but battlenetwork thread?
Continuing my adventure of BN1 for a bit after a small data dump
The trick with this one is misdirection. They paid 27z effectively (25 plus the 2 the bellboy kept) and they got 1 each back (27+3=30)
Keeping the cost they paid and then adding the bellboy's share (part of what they paid) is a trick.
i wish i had the one with omegaxis asking king about the blue thing on his eye
>mfw more BN threads
are the phone games, Phantom of the Network and Legend of the Network playable at all? can't find the roms nowhere
Just run a lot of escapes or use cheat codes
The games are also much more playable on an emulator, at least in virtual boy since you have a speed toggle button, makes it way more bearable, plus you have save states for some of the ridiculous puzzles like with electman
I think my first proper folder dickery was in MMBN2 where I built a not very sophisticated deck around Gater and one-shot practically everything in the game on the first turn. Good times.
So did everyone else.
Then there was that one guy with the action replay that hacked the Gospel chips out and then discovered there was a secret extra PA that did a staggering 3000 unblockable damage (except by pop up)
That was me
Star Force 3 was god tier and up there with the best Battle Network games.
Oh nice, a BN thread. Posting best navi, also why is it that all the best Navi's don't end in "Man" in there name?
Hell, I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
I remember I had a Code Breaker for my GBA that let me get in some pretty cool chips. After BN3 came out and completed that, I used it so that I could use the Navi Customization early, as well as max out Mega and switch out styles easily. It was pretty funny beating down on Flash Man using Aqua Guts and 9999 hp.
>you were born too soon for AI to be mainstream like smartphones
>you'll never have your own personal AI to be your friend/waifu
PETs are just cellphones that can do a ton more like video calls and email and can give you access to the net. they've come a long way, sorry they don't have a cyberfriend that can talk to you yet
>WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNINGWARNINGWARNINGWARNINGWARNING
bugged as fuck, shitty events and makes the first run terrible because it only has lv1 viruses/chips. Blue Moon version also has a game freezing bug and if I remember right. And there are navi chips that freeze the game.
Star Force 3 was absolutely great, on par with the best BN games
1 was rough around the edges but had some nice character development, so it's okay in my book.
I still find it bullshit that Geo got to go back home through the power of friendship, even thought that was pretty much the main theme of the game.
We do not speak of 2 here.
woah really? ive played through the game a million times and never had problems, must've been lucky
do the other ones have a larger 'internet' to explore?
that was my favourite part of the game, just finding as many connections to jack into the internet and find weird spots and shit
Are these games also available on VC or should i just emulate?
Yeah, the WoodMan scenario can actually freeze the game if played on a DS or emulator.
For some reason it only works fine on a regular GBA.
It's not really a freeze, so much as the game slows to one frame per second.
>do the other ones have a larger 'internet' to explore?
Just wait until you get to 3's after game
I seriously hope to GOD you guys got into BN6 ROMHacking while that shit was still big. I had so much fun making custom battles against two fucking cybeasts, with colonel and protoman on my team, playing as fucking bass or some other wacky shit like that
>doing all the extra stuff
The post game was there to hold you over while they made the next game in the series, why would I do it when I can just move on to the next game?
holy fuck I wanted to ask this too but it just seemed like these were normie faggots that ONLY played the vanilla game. There were so many patches and fun to be had while it was big. It's completely dead now though :'(
Because you're missing out on content, you fucking retard. By that logic, why play any game at all when you can just go to the next one. And why stop there? Just skip the next one so you jump straight to the next, next one. Retarded nigger.
Because there's bosses and enemies that are in the post game that aren't in the base game? Also, half the fun in Battle Network is putting together an insane folder to murder things with. If you pull this shit for BN3, I swear to god...
SF3 noise system was fucking amazing
mfw getting amazing cards just for stomping mettenna.
>WARNING...WARNINIG...WARNING WARNING WARNINGWARNINGWARNINGWARNINGWARNING
Hey guys, I make that 3D Mega Man Battle Network fangame.
Any chips you guys wanna see in the game?
I don't know about chips exactly just take the best ones from each game and add them in
But you need to include an armor/custom block that lets you temporally move into enemy spaces so melee is much more viable
Just make it so the buster is weaker while there and you take damage after 5-7 seconds or so after being on their squares
Anti-damage is happening, my friend. Good suggestion.
Also here's the twitter https://twitter.com/MMBN3D
Geddon is definitely happening.
Anubis is a good one. Sounds easy to program, haaaa.
PIC FUCKING RELATED YES.
He attacks for you with his wrench. Based on this concept art. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/d/d7/RushDASH.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140213195938
Also gonna do Tango who heals you while he's on the field.
like all of it? i... im not sure i can do that
Yeah, but I don't know which are best which is why I ask. That's a neat idea though. Might use, actually.
Vulcan's already in. I'll look at the rest.
>went on the MMBN3D tumblr
>see gif related
dick status: muh
remember those Piledriver PAs as well
>Yeah, but I don't know which are best which is why I ask. That's a neat idea though. Might use, actually.
Also going from there, if you've ever played the game Dragon Ball Z Legendary Super Warriors, it's a similar game
At the start of that game however you get to choose between a "Beam" or "Defeat" Deck, being melee and ranged
Before the game or during the game you should ask the player what kind of "Deck" they want, weather it be power up focused, ranged, melee, support card focused or what have you
another suggestion, do something like the Bushido cards in Starforce 3 where the more you use in a turn the better they get
1 Bushido: normal sword
2 Bushidos: Long Sword + 20 atk for both
3 Bushidos: Wide Sword + 40 atk for every Bushido
and so on
Shit, i still have that PET toy from fucking ages ago.
Aw shit. Neat.
The same reason Inafune would rather try to cash in on Classic and Legends fans when most of the staff from Capcom that are at Comcept worked on BN/SF. Ignorance of the fanbase.
GunDelSol's already in, pic related. What does Pawn do? Second request I've gotten for it.
Worst thing about tumblr is the followers you sometimes get, man. Christ
Time bombs and justice fist are a good idea.
This is actually a really good idea. Like for real.
I'll look into this one, never played SF3.
>What does Pawn do? Second request I've gotten for it.
summons a chess piece that swings it's sword when you hit the A button, they are also good at blocking since they are made of metal
king man used them
Pawn places a pawn in front of you like the ones KingMan uses. It can only be broken by breaking attacks, and when you press the A/chip attack button, it does a longsword slash.
this is the art for pawn
>>But you need to include an armor/custom block that lets you temporally move into enemy spaces so melee is much more viable
maybe something like the lock on teleport from starforce?
I'm mad best soul is the hardest one to get because I keep getting the shittyass woodman scenario
Fuck BN4, fuck it to hell
guardian and the step cross swords
do you plan on adding the special PA from each game? master style, sun and moon, double hero etc?
>tfw ive always wanted to do a screenshot lp of a battle network game on /v/
theyre such great/shitty games to play for people
>This is actually a really good idea. Like for real.
Ya, I design games as well, hit me up at [email protected] if you need any more suggestions
If you wanted a few more things, you should include a custom block/power up that lets you choose what you get when you win a non boss battle, so someone doesn't have to spend hours grinding certain monsters to try and get a card, you'd still have to qualify for a card though with getting a good rank however.
You could also possibly have the option to move the camera to a 3rd person perspective if that's not already there, this could also be a unique mechanic for certain fights where you force the camera to that position.
>You could also possibly have the option to move the camera to a 3rd person perspective if that's not already there, this could also be a unique mechanic for certain fights where you force the camera to that position.
now shit got real, I want to see this
StarForce Mode with it's limited movement would be coolio too
>Advanced PET is clocked at 450 GHz
>Megaman's memory is still measured in the megabytes
Of course. Lifesword's already in.
I think I might make a sword style that step swords on sword attacks or something. Sword Style, white color, different looking saber and boots. Something like that. I don't want to put in too much original crap but just a lil' should be fine.
Looks cool. And easy to model so I'll do it.
Missed your post there but yeah, I think it is sped up a little bit in the final version.
Guardian is habbening probably
And maybe if I have all the chips for them by chance.
I'll email you but >>315340342
SF camera isn't happening. The game's animations and shit were made for sideview the game looks fucking awful from the front/back. I'd have to rework a lot, you know?
>SF camera isn't happening. The game's animations and shit were made for sideview the game looks fucking awful from the front/back. I'd have to rework a lot, you know?
Probably a decent ammount of work, but they are 3-D models, unless like half of it isn't textured really, wouldn't be as hard if you were still on sprites though, just be sure to have the game finished before releasing it just in case capcom sends out a C&D
>and all of 4
come to think of it
was there a battle network game that didnt have a scenario that made you want to stab your eyes out?
>4, ALL OF IT
>5, garg comp
>6, any of the spirits
Everything about the project looks amazing and well done.
I do have one question: How long does it usually take you to get a chip working in the game after coding, modeling, etc?
I hope the game turns out well
though, I'd appreciate another try when you finish the game, atleast for shits and giggles
It's DOABLE it's just not feasible, I wanted to put it in as a bonus thing but I just don't think it's worth it when there's so much shit still to make.
Hey thanks man, it's not perfect but I am proud of it.
If I'm not lazy maybe 8-10 hours? This assumes I need to do a simple model + texture (like Rush up there simple, models like Proto Man take me a few days), that it's not a super complicated chip to code (there haven't been any yet) and that I don't run into something gamebreaking that makes me rewrite old stuff (this happens often enough).
While I work on an e-mail, are you going to be using the custom block system which I think was in like 3 and on ward?
And then is equipment such as the souls/armor/styles built into that or is separate? Having it be separate would be a way to go most likely
Starforce 1 is rough on the edges, but it's good and has good character progression
Starforce 2 WOULD be good if the encounter rate wasn't so fucking high, it's pretty much filler
Starforce 3 is THE BEST Starforce game and is up there with BN6 in terms of quality
play 1 then 3, only play 2 if you got curiosity as who the fuck Solo is
I thought about it and decided I'd make a new "puzzle" for the custom stuff because I just can't be assed to spend so much time on the custom block system.
It's separate because neither are actually in yet. I'm doing a staggered release schedule where I just add features as I go along. So first release is BN1 esque but with some other playable characters. Release 2 is bug patches + Bass post-game. Release 3 is styles and from there on out anything is fair game since I've basically reached the goals I wanted. Each release adds more chips.
>play the SF games
play 1, skip 2, play the fuck out of 3
every single time someone has played SF2 they were on the verge of dropping the series
i might just do a screenshot lp of the SF series, people need to see how shit 2 is
Yeah, just give numerical value to each power and have a limit is what I probably wanna go for.
Maybe a LITTLE more creative than that but I don't wanna make it into its own separate meaty minigame, I just don't have the resources to spend days on that.
Gyro Soul is the shit.
Wow guys. First post on this board and I got amazing answers! Thanks so much all, I just started 6 for the first time since someone on here said it was amazing, but I'll certainly look in to this series next!
honestly don't count on that happening everywhere. it's a BN thread thing, not a /v/ thing.
happy posting, as long as you're constructive or asking good questions you should be fine.
Like, a Style Change for MegaMan? I just thought of ideas for the visual changes to make. Like for the backpack make it so the top nubs look like they have hilts at the bottom and the bottom nubs are pointed. And slight "armor" at the elbows and knees, or maybe just make both of MegaMan's shoulder pads more like armor. Or both.
I can't draw worth shit but I could try to MSpaint what I'm trying to explain out.
T-thanks. I'm going to re-do the Mega Man model, he was really quite early.
Oops, I posted an old screenshot, though. Pic related has nicer textures.
I like the hilt ideas and shoulder armor ideas.
I don't get the love for Star Force 3. It was okay but I genuinely enjoyed SF1 more. I guess it was because the story was more endearing and I didn't do any wifi battling since I would always disconnect like 20-30 seconds into any match. To this day I've no idea why.
Ima repost it here for more feedback as well, if you wanted to reply do it in the e-mail though so it doesn't get lost in the thread
Missed this bit at the end
There probably more, but this gives the game a lot more variety in playstyle, in addition you could maybe have the option of differing costumes for mega man if you ever get around to making those models, the armor above could simply be different colors depending on which you're wearing.
Funny, the only terrible thing I remembered from BN1 is that cancerous map layout.
There are other bad things about the game but I enjoyed it enough not to be bothered by them. I give them devs credits because first game.
possibly, gotta think on it more, that's the armor for the guy who don't need no fucking chips and wins all his battles with his blaster
Maybe it should just give the blaster piercing damage, better yet it should just increase the amount of stuff you can equip to power yourself up with
Best original navi coming through , serenade a close second
Also elecman toadman and starman for being vast improvements on the originals
Well you need a way to supplement a deck, the melee armor especially helps making melee viable.
Like how else would you achieve such a thing? aside from a temporary use chip.
It also functions like armors/souls for giving you an extra power, it just helps differentiate the starting decks.
ok, in simple words, the lock on allows you to jump in front of the enemy to deliver the blow the go back to the initial position
the lock on only works if the enemy's in front of you or diagonally, so it's isn't FalzarCross-like broken
Yeah, that model was by atelierjordan.tumblr.com
He's a super cool dude who happens to not just be an A+ modeler and battle network fan but also my friend.
Here's more roll gifs http://mmbn3d.tumblr.com/post/106835976963/the-always-adorable-rollexe-by-atelierjordan
It's alright, watch the sub. Nice fanservice, cute girls, and Bass being fucking based.
Someone else you might be familiar with may make an appearance as well.
And you made mine
Not MM9/10 but wait for my next post
>tfw you had mmbn tournaments in your highschool years
>tfw thse days are never coming back
Oh they were great anons, those days full of innocence.
was always fun to use fullcust to fuck up the other guys plan and force him to either lose his chips or not take any new ones
also countering each others time stop chips with another time stop chip over and over
Could you explain why? The fact that you had to replay the game multiple times to get all the souls just completely drove me away from it. Not to mention the horrible translation errors and shitty quests.
Well time may be different as I was only a teenager back then so replaying a game back then when I had so much free time and getting new games was rare wasn't a hard feat, I think getting new scenarios is good enough as you do replay the game several times but its not the EXACT same scenarios you do so it keeps things fresh, and I may not have noticed the translation errors as English isn't my first language and make errors myself so that was didn't really have an impact. I do not remember the quests.
I think it had some great strengths though, the soul system was completely new and something refreshing to styles, you could switch things up every battle and not have to rely on a single style through 200 or so battles to get a new one, also I thought the soundtrack was pretty great but this is just an opinion and not a fact, I'm pretty sure they had a new composer for this game and he made some bitchin' tracks.
Also multiplayer was way more enjoyable than the previous iterations as you had more freedom to mix things up depending on what styles you had since they were exclusive, in BN3 they just had 1 exclusive style in comparison to the 6 different souls this time around.
Also the fact that the game rewarded you for being good as the lower virus busting times powered up your SP chips. That was pretty neat.
Although I agree with you that souls allowed more more variety, most of them still felt very similar to the old styles like torch soul and guts soul. Also the fact that you couldn't always get the one you wanted + had to sacrifice a chip kinda bugged me. My favourite mmbn is 6 mainly because of the crosses.
BN idea guy here
Personally I think varied folder building is key. I think all the chips should be spread across at least five codes, some rarer than others. While your average chip might have a *-code available commonly, some much stronger chips should have a * version that's obtained through sidequests and exploration that's untradeable to prevent people from theoretically having multiple of them in their inventory.
Make getting chips from enemies slightly easier. No "gotta get Lv 10 or more to reliably add to your collection." I think BN6 was generous in this regard. For bosses, make it so that the challenge is in being able to beat them at all rather than using OP program advances to wreck them in <10 seconds, and so that as long as your busting level is over 4 or 5 you still get their V2/V3 chip (but if you manage to Lv10 or S-rank them, you get a * version of their V1 chip).
I remember that you could connect megaman even to the toilet, some "dungeons" were annoying but this game was really nice, that's it I'm playing them again on wii u
To bad the other two only appear in the final battle for the SSS license
doo doo dee doo DEEEE doo doo dee doo DEEEE
That is because the people that say its bad never got past Gutsman and kept hearing him laugh while Megaman screamed every time he got deleted.
Yeah I guess, I've seen a lot of people complain about the inconsistent difficulty like Torchman being the hardest boss and everyone else being easy or something
Well, once you get FireMan down, you just farm him until you have five of his navi chip. Then you murder NeedleMan. Do the same for NeedleMan for BrightMan and then IceMan.
By that point, your pea shooter should be getting upgraded. Once you max out your pea shooter and assemble the Cannon pieces needed for Z-Cannon PA, the whole game is combative-wise a joke. ESPECIALLY once you get the Rush chip that make Invis3 a joke in how strong they are.
What? There are still regular unofficial RL tournaments in Japan and they had an international Internet BN6 tournament a few months ago.
I don't know when the next international tournament will be but the organisator recently said more were coming.
>Skipping the post game
The fuck is wrong with you, man.
I thought BN was great, but Star Force was also a lot of fun. I still have to get around to playing Star Force 3. They're not really the same, and I miss the relative depth of the BN games, so I hope they get around to making another game using the BN system one of these days.
The best part about the BN universe is definitely the potential to discuss BBS culture specifically and internet culture in general. There's definitely a lot of material which hasn't been taken advantage of, and the BN games did it in a way which was actually funny.
BN's take on chat rooms really gave me a nostalgic feel to early internet interactions. it was cool
>but Star Force was also a lot of fun. I still have to get around to playing Star Force 3. They're not really the same, and I miss the relative depth of the BN games
You haven't really done shit until you've played SF3, where the entire SF series comes together perfectly.
Everything led up to that game and that system.
