That's kinda sad honestly. I realize it's stuff that doesn't matter but it still sucks that they're doing this in the first place.
Well, at least it's better than not getting the games at all. It shouldn't have to be a choice at all though.
Here's something tangentially related to Nintendo and censorship by Douglas Crockford regarding a 25 year old game, just a quote from the full article:
>In the credits, which are shown after the conclusion of the game, there are two occurrences of the word Scumm, which stands for Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion. Scumm is the story game development system which was used to produce Maniac. They understood, and asked "What is NES SCUMM?" That is the version of Scumm that we did for the Nintendo. "Yeah, but it says NES SCUMM. What will people think?"
>I don't know what people will think. And we will never know what people will think. I took it out.
>They didn't object to the nasty stuff that happens to the hamster. Ron suggested that it was just violence.
>People from Nintendo say with pride that even though they are growing, the number of letters they receive from special interest groups is declining. They insist that their standards are not intended to make their products bland, but that is the inevitable result.
>Part of the formal product submission includes a complete listing of all of the game text. They scan that for occurrences of the bad words, but they are also looking for religious artifacts.
>Nintendo is a jealous god.
Just something to consider. Maniac Mansion was charming because it's a parody of old horror films, Nintendo never got the humor so they cut and chopped pieces of it out.
Creative freedom is something that matters.
religious symbolism vita to story development
and physical outfits
as far as anybody should be concerned though much more was censored but we won't be able to pin point it until the game release.
That is nintendo fucking treehouse for you, the most pathetic gathering of sjw's in modern gaming to date.
That's true. An obscure and pretty crappy game called Spy Fiction, made before Deadly Premonition by the same guy, was supposedly actually a spoof of Metal Gear Solid and action movies in general, but the translators thought that wouldn't sell well, so they changed it into a generic action story that was barely quirky or fun at all.
you can't have good X thread after 8-4 was revelated to work on localization.
and after potato news people completely lost shit and each X thread is
>muh censorship now
gameplay is good if you liked Chronicles' gameplay. If you didn't - don't bother. <--- this is all you need to know about this game.
We know they have censored: BLADE, the Covenant, Skell, Testament. It was all religious symbolism cause it depicted humanity forsaking the same God that doomed their planet, but also showed that glimmer of hope and humanity's need to believe in something bigger than themselves at their darkest hour.
It made fucking sense.
Now it's just been replaced with weak shit that doesn't make sense. It's as if you removed all the religious symbolism in Evangelion and replaced it all with generic sci-fi shit. You'd completely ruin the franchise.
The thing that really burns me with rage though is they want me to pay the price of a full game despite having a fringe group of religious zealots that subscribe to a culture that shames sexuality unnecessarily remove shit from the game rendering it technically an incomplete game that deviates from source material provided by original developers true vision.
Fuck Nintendo of America but fuck the condescending SJW gathering that is Nintendo Treehouse even more.
This is what they did with fire emblem.
Now just imagine what the sjw's are going to do to xenoblade.
>It's as if you removed all the religious symbolism in Evangelion and replaced it all with generic sci-fi shit. You'd completely ruin the franchise.
No you won't. Christianity in Eva is completely arbitrary and was shoehorned it to make it look deeper that it actually is.
It sets the mood for the setting, and the entire point of Human Instrumentality makes less sense if you remove all the shit about Adam and stuff.
It gave context to our religious beliefs, especially if you consider humanity was ultimately gonna become God if they formed into one.
All fiction needs to be grounded to be relatable, EVA was grounded in biblical symbolism, it gave context to everything and made it more thought provoking.
It'd be like removing the Cyberpunk from the Matrix with all tge computer references and then saying it'd be fine cause it doesn't affect the story.
Good stories work in layers, they work with multiple elements to provide a deeper narrative.
That was back in the 80's. There was good reason to do shit like that after what happened with Atari. It was really in the 90's when people started to care again about censorship after Mortal Kombat. And slowly Nintendo has been doing better at being less shit. The problem isn't what they did in the past. The problem really is that right now we have tons of games from tons of developers with way more stuff out there than what Nintendo is bringing out yet Nintendo still thinks that if they keep them there will be people with torches and pitchforks after them.
The problem is exactly the same as it has been for 30 years, things being cut from games for little to no reason at all.
Like you say, ripping out skulls and sending blood flying is part of the essence of Mortal Kombat and removing it neuters the game's spirit.
People censor games because they want to protect people from dangerous fiction, it's always going to happen unless more people stand up for complete freedom of expression. I don't know when America decided free speech was a bad thing but apparently you have.
Use of Alcohol
Content is not being removed to make the game kid friendly, /v/ is retarded as all fuck.
It isn't. The only actual censorship is toning down bikinis on a 13-year-old. This idiot thinks changing names that -spoiler alert- don't actually affect the plot in any way and are highly inappropriate for their alleged appearance as words Americans would select for their military organizations is magically censorship.
I do agree with you on that. I just hope that whatever version we do get is still really good.
I mean, I love talking about video game stuff with you guys as much as anyone, but there really isn't much any of us can do about censorship, or any other issue in the video game industry, sadly.
>but there really isn't much any of us can do about censorship, or any other issue in the video game industry, sadly.
Wrong, you can complain and let them no this isn't what you want. If you shut up and take it then it will keep getting worse
It's only because nintendo fans refuse to have a back bone that nintendo can get away with doing this
Wasn't Halo OFFICIALLY sponsored by Mountain Dew?
This isn't really the same, it's only Best Buy giving out Pizza. You don't get the pizza if you order on Amazon or anywhere else, and so far it's only for the States (not in Canada).
>fucks still can't differentiate changed Lyn model.
all equipment is the same. Lyn just her chest covered on her base model itself.
you incompetent fuckers.
I think in situations like this, they should just leave the fanservice, anti-SJW outfit in, and add in a less skimpy outfit. That way, nobody can claim that their rights are being infringed.
Good to know that companies are still cool with censoring content because western culture shames sexuality. I don't know if I could take this fantasy world with 12-foot jumping, no fall damage, and handheld Gatling guns seriously with bikinis. Personally, I think that murder and violence in general should be more prevalent than a basic human function in my media. Thanks, 8-4, you're the saviors of gaming.
Exactly. Who plays a japanese game and doesn't want it to be as american as possible.
They are just cheap dumb products not something a team worked hard on to create a certain image
probably, don't recall exact same outfit while I was playing, but I didn't unlock much.
I misread your post then.
Just usually people think that it's equipment is what changed, which is wrong cause game mechanics don't work this way. (aka changing equipment on one character while it looks different on another, aside of genders)
>goofy thread about food endorsements
>all discussion boils down to "muh censorship"
This is going to happen once the game is out, isn't it?
We aren't going to be allowed to talk about it at all. Every time someone makes a thread the censorship police will roll their way in and make sure we don't talk about anything else.
You people need to seriously fuck off and get over yourselves. Go latch onto another game. I hear Fallout 4 has been getting bashed lately, go check that out.
Any serious publisher would do the same thing. Words borrowed from your language for use in another language because they sound cool to foreigners aren't specially off limits when localizing for an audience that uses those words natively. It needs to read naturally to them or you've failed at your job.
Tell us about your job in the industry.
if you look hard enough you'll see that black sports bra top is the same as in >>315262439
In your case it just fits with this particular bikini, pure coincidence. That's still separate geometry and geometry of bikini didn't change
It only matters to a fringe minority who don't respect the source material, the original developer or his vision and don't really want to play a Japanese game in the first place which at that point, begs the question, why are they even fucking playing the game? and why is the game being modified to pander to their interests?
The consumer for the most part, just wants a translated game, not a fucking homogonized, culturally modified, desexualized, butchered, sjw safe treated piece of garbage under the pretext of 'localization' so pathetic morons who's job don't actually need to exist can keep their jobs.
And people want that weirdness as it is part of the personality
Why do you need to sanitize everything especially in a niche product?
>Too bad dolls isn't even used correctly in
Dolls are toys with no life but you can manipulate. That makes perfect sense for a machine to be called that, you can easily make the link in your brain. This is especially true as
they are not proper humans either but dolls being controlled, kind of a big bit of the story there
>people who don't chimp out over kotoba are the fringe minority
It all went sour when Nintendo first did that stream of the Japanese game. Since it felt like A) they were doing nothing for months B) all they kept talking about is changes to the script.
Dolls were a cool name, how is it any different than calling fighter kets hawks or something else within that vein? Dolls is quirky and Japanese as fuck, it would've been spot on and suited for the robots.
you know jack about mecha, stop being shit
Dolls are non sentient things that can be manipulated, there robots are non sentient things that can be manipulated, the characters
not completely sentient things that can be manipulated
This, they all work. Skell is just more confusing, it is NY slang for hobo and skeleton only has one L and no one calls them fucking skells
Ah, so ONLY those "in the industry" are allowed to be critical about "the industry". Gotcha.
Well, that's one person from Redmond. Because that logic is as faulty as defending bad localization of media from one culture to another.
After all, religious themes and sub-contexts worked quite well for Xenogears & Xenosaga,
So lets remove all that from a game made by the same development studio using similar themes because...why again? It didn't work before? Wait, we already said it did?
I am not even joking I snuck into the 8-4 offices and found the truth anons.
The reason they changed "doll" to "skell" is super obvious when you know the truth, they had to change it so that they could make a "Thanks Mr. Skelltal" joke.
They did it for the memes.
From what I've heard they are keeping a lot of oddness of the game. Like the crossdressing Yokai. Also YW is literally for kids so while I'm against self censorship you can't really compare this game to YW.
Why does she look like a midget on the left?
>Most mecha don't have dolls riding around in dolls.
Well since skell can refer to homeless people, maybe it'll tie in to how they lost their planet or something.
I don't know, I'm just hoping it wasn't a completely thoughtless change just because "Dolls are gay and Skell sounds totally rad"
They don't look human though, they are bipeds but that's about it.
Hi Guys, changing man here. After all thw feedback we have gathered we decided to rename Skells into Kas. See, it's short for mechas but with a K to sound cool. It also wears sunglasses and os racist so there is another sweet reference for all those true gamers out there.
>It's okay for Japanese children to see bare legs but not American children
Okay, I guess.
The Japanese are usually on point with selecting english words, they actually have a reason to do it and do put thought into it.
I'm not sure what the term for it is but doll would be appropriate as the mecha robots are essentially the exact opposite of a doll in every way, not sure what this term is called, something like a false equivalency perhaps where you are describing the relation two objects or things have with each other and also outlining it's core differences simultaneously in one word.
This is only one of the reason why the word dolls is good.
you know shit about mecha
stop embarrassing yourself, treehouse guy
Man, I wish I had avoided these threads from the start, I've been spoiled on so much, and I'm being spoiled some more right now, no one uses spoiler tags
I'll make sure to do it for the next Xenoblade game that is supposedly being worked on now
I legit want to talk about the game. I read somewhere that the Japanese where disappointed with the games story something about leaving a lot of lose ends. Also does the gameplay hold up?
Cross promotion isn't a fundamentally evil concept, the whole doritopope shit was because he is meant to be a journalist and that was blatant pay2win.
Also its ok when nintendo does it
Did you see how many memes they crammed into Mon Hun?
Nintendo isn't the force behind Yokai, it's Hasbro doing the heavy marketing. They want it to be My Little Pony 2.0 and the next Pokemon at the same time.
Honestly FUCK NoA.. This is beyond pathetic at this point.
Gameplay is bloody great, japs just expected some epic strong storyline and so left shitty amazon reviews which means shit, but just gave some ammunition to shitposters.
did you played Chronicles? If you liked gameplay there, you'll find X gameplay better in every possible way.
If not, don't bother much
Wait for it to release japan has no taste whatsoever.
From what I've heard the game finishes up nicely and then starts something like a teaser but I don't speak nintendo so I'm still cautious
>Removing major religious themes & context, thereby sterilizing the story
>In a JRPG made by the folks behind Xenogears & Xenosaga, which also had similar religious themes & context
>Not a big deal
Holy shit dude are you for fucking real? NDF at full alert in this tread? Or just bored NoA employees with insomnia?
>Japanese where disappointed with the games story something about leaving a lot of lose ends
The story is only 12 missions. Most of it is going around doing enough side missions to get a new story one, so a lot of poor farmers who need stuff collected and collect ten alien butt cheeks.
The gameplay is apparently better but you'll also be doing a lot more of it so if you aren't properly in love with single player mmos you may get bored
That's not NoA. It's Hasbro.
Nintendo is handling the marketing for the game. TV is Hasbro. Those I guess you can argue that the TV show is the core marketing for YW.
I mean, you're probably the exact same person who's going to be saying that this game is shit after it comes out, so I don't see why I need to get all impassioned about a translation decision I never had anything to do with, and try to defend some people I never met, or attack them.
nintendo defence force mainly but there is at least 1 8-4 employee here who is really trying to push the importance of americanized localization, he only made 2~3 posts in this thread though.
care to make a real point instead of crying someone said something negative?
People were pissed the game is more set up than a real story, especially have so few story missions in general
>all this outrage over censoring the game and altering it for markets outside nippon
I think we're all missing a very important point here; the game looks really really not good at all. ffs there are mmos now that have better looking combat than this game. what the fuck is even going on?
Only inside giant
alien ship which you get at some point during a story
and blade HQ which actually loads.
at least that's around half point of story where I am. there maybe more in future, I have no idea.
>the game looks really really not good at all
My question is why alter it for other markets then do nothing to market it a month away from release? Unless they're pulling out some mad ad campaign here soon that we don't know about, they haven't done much recently outside of the monthly youtube videos which are just made up of the Jap Directs mostly.
The fact it seems like a good game makes the issue worse.
I don't want the fucked up version appropriate for puritans, I want to experience the game intended. If I support the game now I am supporting more games getting shitty localisations
with gameplay it's easy.
Liked Wii's Xenoblade Chronicles sidequest/battle/exploration wise? You'll like X.
Didn't like? Stay away.
Simple as that.
I do want to ride a giant robot but the thing is, it doesn't look fun in xenoblade
I don't see how combat where a qte prompt happens every other minute can be fun, but please try to change my mind.
I'm the guy you're replying to, I'm not really a nintendo defense force person or whatever, this is just my personality. I definitely don't like censorship and I actually liked the Xeno games a lot, and I own all of them. I just think that something like this, where the censorship mainly seems to be some slightly different costumes, and replaced terminology, isn't as bad as it could be.
I mean, the screenshot you posted is a good example of something that doesn't need words to convey the symbolism. I'm kind of hoping that, bad translation decisions aside, if there is any meaning to these words or symbolism of any sort, that it'll still come through.
Besides, it's pretty obvious they're not changing anything at this point, they've already got the voice acting done and all that shit. They've pretty much got to go for it at this point, they couldn't fix their problems even if they wanted to.
nah, changing your mind is useless. If you hated Chronicles, you won't like this game.
Ignore it. Stay away from it. And stop wasting other's anons time.
Nice way of deflecting, avoiding, and/or running-from discussion you'd been a part of when you have no further defense regarding your position:
>implying the other Anon is just a mean troll.
Oh, and fyi? I have the "too fucking expensive LE" on pre-order & I plan to enjoy the fuck out of the game, just like I have with other Monolith titles.
Wanna try defending the poor localization again?
Because it's Nintendo.
They have no idea how to market distinctly Japanese games. And they are TERRIFIED of spending money on marketing unless they are guaranteed a monetary return.
Nintendo might be turning a profit, but not NEARLY as large a profit as they wanted to be at this time.
I never played chronicles, anon. don't assume shit. I want to like this game but the meat of the game, the combat, looks shit. just auto attacks with some skills and a qte thrown in for good measure. tell me I'm wrong, I want to be.
it's hard to ignore a big button prompt in the middle of the screen, and beyond that if I don't hit it I won't be doing as well as I could. I can't just ignore it.
>trying to deflect from being caught
>totally could be not an 8-4/NoA employee
>in a thread dedicated to discussing the localization of a game both are responsible for
Oh sure, that COULD be someone else. But it's not likely.
>I never played chronicles, anon. don't assume shit. I want to like this game but the meat of the game, the combat, looks shit. just auto attacks with some skills and a qte thrown in for good measure. tell me I'm wrong, I want to be.
Why you should care about some anon's opinions avatarfag?
You literally can get chronicles running anyway you want. Emulate, pirate, buy it on e-shop, whatever. Do so and play then.
And go from there.
No anon in sane mind will be explaining anything to dumb shit like you.
>And they are TERRIFIED of spending money on marketing unless they are guaranteed a monetary return
Then shouldn't they have realized that censorship is going to going to effect their monetary gains? I saw a poll just the other day asking if people were still going to buy the game or not after the censorship scare occurred and over 100 people voted no. That's a loss of over $6000
>They have no idea how to market distinctly Japanese games. And they are TERRIFIED of spending money on marketing
This. Nintendo don't get how to make a product popular, they just hope it will be and then puts effort in.
>go play chronicles
Are you fags really giving me vidya homework? I just want to know why you think the combat is good, I don't want to have to go put hours into a game for that.
Wow. An intelligent reply on /v/. Color me shocked.
When it comes to the localization of themes, we'll honestly just have to see if the changes are as bad as expected, as using religious/semi-religious terms to describe religious/semi-religious themes makes far more logical sense than otherwise.
I'm not hopeful.
One thing wrong with that, you get more sex appeal in the game in exchange for less blood and gore and probably actual sex and nudity unless it's a hentai game which will still get some censorship.
You're minimizing the elements of gameplay down to stereotypes without understanding the nuances therein. The cooldown timers, positioning, statistical and skill-focused setups both before and during battle, as well as the fact that your buffs/debuffs/status/inventory all matter generally put it above MMOs, as well as the fact that it's not painfully grindy and focused primarily on your own abilities rather than generic raid groups set up to kill raid bosses, and that the story and setting are both very, very nice. If you've actually played WoW or WoW clones, you'd know why XBC is leagues ahead of them by comparison.
Basically, you target an enemy, and then you and your two buddies, three in total, wail on him. Your allies use whatever moves they feel like, although you decide which moves they have available. Same for yourself, except you actively decide which moves to use.
All moves have cooldowns, but no mana consumption or anything. Some moves have different traits, such as Shulk's monado charging up as the battle goes on, and having a variety of moves to use once it's fully charged.
The appeal of the gameplay largely comes from the fact that you can see into the future where you die or take massive damage, and you are given the information that could help you prevent that bad future. If you actually succeed at this, the awesome dragon ball z music kicks in, and then you guard break that fucker, and it's very satisfying somehow.
>in exchange for less blood and gore
Monster Hunters 3 and 4 had significantly reduced blood when coming to the states, which was extremely bad because not only was it wholly unnecessary, but it also fucked with a primary gameplay mechanic.
>>315263656 (???) - Bad localization isn't a big deal for this type of game.
>>315264043 (me) - disparaging the localization using past games from the developers as a standard
>>315264135 (you) - "You're the kinda guy who'll bitch about the game after release, so why bother arguing with you about it"
>>315264962 (me) - calling you out for deflection
>>315265048 (you) - "I'm not deflecting, I'm bashing ha ha"
And No More Heroes had blood and some elements of gore removed all together in both the EU and JP versions. Japan has laws that forbid copious amounts of blood shown as well as on screen decapitations.
I never played baldurs gate either
thank you, anon. that was very helpful.
so this new xenoblade plays the same then? how much control do you have over party members? can you get them to use certain skills at specific times?
It's going to flop anyway.
And that's great if you are against censorship.
Don't bother. They still treat foreigners like shit. And if you happen to be Japanese raised out of Japan? They treat you worse.
Source: Co-Workers and their families who moved BACK to the U.S.
Lol, Just remind that there are devices in X which replace gems
Huh. More personal bashing as you literally have no defense for the topic. By ridiculing someone for having as many quotes as yourself/themselves.
Go away, you're done. And I need to wake-up in 2 hours.
No that isnt really the problem for nintendo nowadays and back then it was probably just and issue because their own name was involved, as i doubt anyone would allow game like "Nintendo shit" or "PS4 shit" or "Xbox shit".
Funnily nintendo allowed a game named bombing bastards, while sony had the devs renaming the game to bomber busters.
It amazes me how disconnect the Nintendo branches are. NoJ is telling Platinum to make Bayos costumes lewder, NoE is offering physical copies of Fatal Frame while confirming dual audio months ahead and NoA is pushing Yokai Watch
It feels so inconsistent
Dem birthrates though.
Japan is practically screaming "JUST FUCK ALREADY" at it's citizens. Meanwhile America and Europe are saying "STOP GETTING TEEN PREGNANT" to their youth.
No wonder the Jap version is more perverted.
This. I played Xenoblade Chronicles X and played Xenoblade Chronicles right after and fuck is the latter slow as hell. You definitely won't be able to play the first game again.
>so this new xenoblade plays the same then? how much control do you have over party members? can you get them to use certain skills at specific times?
okay, avatarfag, I'll spoonfeed you a bit.
It plays better, a lot better. In every way.
You can control type of attacks and position of your team. Not sure about controlling specific types of attacks, can't read much in japanese. But you certainly can give orders to keep certain formation.
you can completely equip them how you like as well as insert and level up whatever skills you want.
also vs Chronicles, you can switch between melee and ranged autoattack weapon, also each particular skill uses either ranger or melee weapon.
You have interaction with your party, they can ask use type of particular skill, if you do that correctly you get some HP back as well as bonus damage.
No, I was making fun of you for putting words in my mouth. Every one of those posts that weren't you, was me. It's just that you seem to think I'm defending this bad translation, and I literally never did. For some reason you really want to argue with me about this, but it just isn't happening. Nothing I've said is a personal insult to you, you're seriously just so mad over absolutely nothing. The only thing you and I disagree on is whether or not we're disagreeing about this translation.
Those fucking armors. Is there more? They look much better than Xenoblade Chronicles
yeah, I still beating Chronicles, getting back to it after playing JP X release was very hard.
It's like switching from F1 to Farming simulator. So damn slow and junky after complete freedom and huge speeds + jumps in X.
There are tons more but I don't have screens of complete sets.
There also various styles of all sorts, you'll definitely find something to enjoy.
They removed a lot more than just that, it's only the final example. They had to change the word "kill" to the word "tuna" because you aren't allowed to say kill in an NES game, it's too extreme.
>You can control type of attacks and position of your team.
>you certainly can give orders to keep certain formation
this is the type of information I was hoping for. now the combat is sounding more tolerable, maybe even enjoyable. thank you anon. is there any word on how positioning can effect a fight? enemies take more damage from behind or something?
Those moon jumps feel so fucking satisfying. Xenoblade Chronicles jumps were so bad unless the ground was slippery or something
>>still no dual audio info
>fuck you NoA
Don't be surprised if it's dub-only on the disc considering the game takes up 23 GB out of the 25 GB capacity of the disc so there may not be room for the Japanese voices
Maybe there will be a downloadable Japanese voice patch
>Xenoblade Chronicles jumps were so bad unless the ground was slippery or something
and then you would die for fall damage, thank god it isn't a thing in X.
I think I spent good junk of first few days of X just climbing random geometry to see if I can get up there.
and then grinning like an idiot when I was able to do that.
No-one was putting words in your mouth, they were your words. At the absolute most generous you were giving a "meh" while responding to someone disparaging the localization, both myself and others before me. You got called out for those words.
If you insist that the words that came out of your mouth were supposed to mean something different, then choose better words.
...Ironic that I have to say this in a thread devolved into discussing bad localizations.
The only JP voice pack I know of was Drakengard 3, and Squeenix said they're considering doing the same thing with FF15. Their big problem for filesize is pre-rendered movie files that need to be included twice because they use hardsubs on them.
There might have been a Vita game, the only thing that comes to mind is Dynasty Warriors releasing higher quality audio as an additional download, it was still English though.
I wished I could've played for more than half an hour
also they are fully voiced and way more indepth and way longer.
I played 100+ hours of JP release (exploring about 50% of the game at best) without understanding a word of it cause I don't know Japanese.
Are all of these intact in our version? Are they censored?
doubt it, really. requires way a lot of work and I'm sure monolith has other stuff to be dealt with.
Probably just some of them will look bad on Lyn cause of Lyn's changed model and that's about it.
If they didn't removed bikinis, they didn't remove rest.
But if you are concerned about hat, I'd say wait till release.
Anyway, you probably will get swarmed by "muh censorship fags" any moment now.
you also can attack particular parts of big enemies, which will result in increased damage and will deny them from using certain abilities. And that damaged part will be actually shown on a model of monser or enemy itself. Dolls can have their arms torn off, tho they "regenerate" back after battle ends.
with smaller monsers seems like regular side/back/front system from chronicles still in works.
While X combat takes it's roots in Chronicles, it is better and more complicated in literally every possible way.
>forgetting the two best outfits in the game
I just googled, some stuff, mr wonder red. I don't have much of them saved.
here, take this hoodie.
That bikini looks too bravo for Western eyes.
>the awesome dragon ball z music kicks in
Frankly this is enough reason to play the game.
It's almost automatic anymore to up-age (or delete-age) female characters in Japanese games where panties/swimwear may be involved.
Requesting a programmer to edit the data & getting approval for the edit from the requester would take a bit longer.
>Agnes was complaining that her tits were so big they were literally spilling out of the skimpy top
>don't change the dialogue any but make it a tube top!
You know, the only thing that pisses me off more than bog standard censorshit is when they censor something and then they don't fix the dialogue to match the changes.
pic related bad taste you say?
I'll take 100 page artbook anyday vs steelbook
Well I guess I don't care about the potato that much. Pity they changed her entire model?
It's just promotional art for Arcana Heart senpai http://exhentai.org/s/ac5a97b638/329926-10
Fact is fact. And I prefer yoga pants, since women will also wear them in public and they tend to look amazing in them (at least if they're healthy).
What is a mini-skirt and non-tube-top, Alex.
>calling a guy a fag for liking more exposed skin on women than less
Are you for real, son?
>What is a mini-skirt and non-tube-top, Alex.
you actually almost guessed my name. But hey, I know nothing about clothing.
sometimes less skin is actually more. Depends on personal tastes.
You need to be teen to just wanting less and less skin over and over again.
What about when you almost can see but can't actually see?
By exposing yourself too much to woman skin you stop your fantasies to be developed. It's like enjoying latest graphical feast game and forgetting how much more you were invested when there weren't that much grafical fidelity in games.
Aaaaand that's why people actually pay money for extra skimpy outfits in games like DoA5.
In reality you're correct. In gaming, where everyone is perfect unless specifically designed not to be? Skimpier tends heavily to be better/preferred.
I one of those who pay for skimpy outfits. I like bikinis too, but more often than not I love to use something like pic related, especially when wet, or see half destroyed clothes for Senran costumes.
I agree that they are may be preferred by most people, but that doesn't mean that those who prefer less skin are wrong or worse in any way.
Also people can enjoy both, depends on a mood.
Not that I'm aware of. The Texture pack is used for faster texture loading time (something that was noticeable even in Xenoblade on the Wii) and draw distance for Textures (same).
>especially when wet, or see half destroyed clothes for Senran costumes.
So...you like fuller clothing when made semi-transparent/ripped-away to reveal undergarments.
Glad to see we're in agreement. Sexier is better in gaming.
sure, but if you browse DoA DLCs you'll notice that there aren't as many bikinis. Especially after Ultimate and Last round. You have more thematic like police, nurses, ninja, etc.
And they seem popular enough too.
Sure, sexier is better, but what is sexy is really depended on one particular person. Hell, I find Doll transformation in X sexy as hell. But that's just me, I'm way too far gone.
And really transparent is not all there is. There are under boobs, side boobs, various types of clothing which makes it all better. Heck, some people even like gothic lolis costumes. which almost doesn't give pantsushots.
EU release fucking when
let's be more modern and install rockets in there while we are at it.
And dolls transformations are one sight to behold. When I was playing whenever I get new doll - before continuing playing I just stared on transformations repeatedly for quite awhile.
Then applied paint job and stared a bit more.
so damn good.
driving controls are bit too clunky especially on Mastema, but after you get hang of it it's really damn fun, especially considering you can collect all collectible items and roadkill small enemies (tho I never had enough damage, but I guess I just didn't able to boost roadkill damage cause I can't read)
This is for the disc version of the game at the moment apparently. No clue if they'll do it for oversea release.
>ever, EVER dropping in price
Mario Kart Wii is still 50 yurodollars.
Let that sink in for a minute.
Two months after launch, AssCreed games are dropped to 10€ and Super Smash Bros BRAWL is still 50€.
don't forget that there is 4 more dolls at your disposal cause included JP DLC, you won't get them with first bunch tho, need to complete more than half of story and have a lot of hearts with DLC characters.
You rarely see the footage with them online, especially on 4chan.
I myself yet to reach them cause decided to stop playing further down story to not spoil myself much with cutscenes until west release.
So all you can find is some bad screens, didn't look for video tho.
Justto be sure sure about this light spoiler of Xenoblade X's story
Does Goetia die after this fight? If that's not the case, where's evidence that she's still alive? Or does she never show up again in the game?
>censorship is OK because NeoGAF told me
>I'm too pervert and retarded to not simply avoid content I don't like so I hope it gets cut
>p-please take all choices from me
surprisingly enough each doll handles differently in vehicle mode, Mastema is most clunkiest. Can clip thru terrain yet can get over a lot of uneven terrain other dolls won't be able to.
Dunno how describe, really. Don't expect actual driving, even arcade one. It's more like sprint, but in vehicle form. You have only one speed, no slower, no faster. You ride where you pull your analogue stick, not steering. Yet each doll has it's own speed of turning to that direction.
I can't really think of any racing/driving game doing that so can't pinpoint on examples.
Really imagine sprint in regular game but with a lot of inertia and that you can't make 90 degree turns.
It's really a bit weird, but makes sense with all other control scheme and overall does it's job. Just don't expect much from it.
going circles around one point? Yeah pretty easily, especially in Mastema. Even NPC sometimes do that cause AI not always know where to stop his doll, so if there is particular terrain in his way he can just keep riding in circles. Didn't noticed why exactly that happens, but that happens
I tried to get a job as a video game translator but they refused me since I said I knew English and Japanese on my application.
They said they weren't interested in hiring people who knew Japanese since they might be dangerously influenced by the source material of the game they were localizing.
Why do amerifats still freak out about fictional characters anyway? I thought they were intellectual progressives now.
>actually buying a censored game
won't you people feel like there is something missing? aren't you people upset that you are playing a mutilated version of xenoblade?
I know that the alternative isn't much better either but for fuck sake.
I'll not use actual terms down there cause I don't know how they actually named cause I can't read. But I figured mechanic of that part more or less.
Each continent has set of particular places which will be shown on map as area and pinpointed as light beacon when visually. You get to them, and install probe if you have enough skill of your BLADE organization. (while doing quests you earn point which level up your BLADE organization and you choose which skills you want to level up, installing probes in more difficult places, unlocking boxes and some other stuff)
While exploring the world you'll come across various boxes aka chests, trashed dolls or other vehicles and other stuff. They, if you have right leveled up skill of your BLADE, contain various loot, among then are 2 types of modules. One gathering particular typer resources used in crafting, quests and to fuel your doll, other is money generating module, sight seeing one.
When you installed probe, via menu or gamepad screen on map itself you can install any type of module on any probe, but each location tied to probe has it's own stats and works better with certain type of modules.
After installing one of modules - each period of in game time you'll be given either resource or money.
All probes are connected and you can match them up to optimize getting most resources and money each day (? I never counted how much time needed to get them) and you get bonuses if you will line them up neatly. It's pretty nice minigame which can make you a lot of spare cash and resources, tho resources cap at one point, you need to use them constantly to level up companies or craft stuff.
so yeah, wanting to get more resources is quite good motivation to explore dangerous areas. Also you can fast travel between places where you installed probes, (they are not only one, landmarks count as fast travel point as well).
I hope that was enough, keep in mind I can't read jack so can be off at some places.
You're able to choose where things download if you have a storage device plugged in, right? I'd rather have a dedicated USB for the textures and stuff rather than clear off space on the Wii U.
It'll look like this when you managing your installed probes. Japs already done a lot of maps and various most optimal ways in their wikis.
It's not too mandatory, but you need to reach specific level of income before you get to doll piloting license quest. After finding few good spots and few good modules it'll be quite easier to do.
Also I didn't mention that you CAN'T buy those modules.
Want better income - explore world for treasure boxes.
As I understand it, there are quests in which you go out and hunt down a number of monsters with a group which leads to a boss monster to appear.
Not completely sure if I have that right, though.
not just friendlist, from all over miiverse. You can requit them as AI NPC character but that's about it.
When start the game you either autojoin squad or make one yourself, you'll be able to complete "online" quest of sorts by killing monsters or gathering specific resources.
You can have coop play up to 4 players but it restricted to specific area and specific quests, not full blown coop.
I sadly not too familiar with that game so can't really tell much more about it. It's nice addition but if you dislike it you can turn it all off.
Ah, so you gather up your party of 4, then pick missions to kill X or gather resources or something like Monster Hunter? Interesting.
I was hoping it would be like an open world kinda thing where any 4 players can go literally wherever they like.
>It's as if you removed all the religious symbolism in Evangelion and replaced it all with generic sci-fi shit
That'd improve Evangelion by a lot, the hamfisted religious shit that made no sense really dragged the show down.
I think only kill missions, with specific content made specially for online. But you need someone who have JP friends and beat game to check me on that.
Resource gathering and monster killing I mentioned here >>315277420 at start - is 30 min (I think) long perioud when all squad can do specific specific task (kill 10 elite humanoids or so), if it's completed I guess you get some bonus.
Completely optional and can be done in background, you can turn it off too. UI is pretty damn customizable as well as online features.
And no, no open world roaming coop
(thank god, I hate coop games cause they are oversaturated a lot of genres and there are too little singleplayer games now), maybe in next game.
not the same guy
In Xeno Chronicles, you basically have no control over your party members, but they'll usually assist you in some ways. For example, if you "break" an enemy, they'll follow up with a "topple" attack if they have one available.
Your "ultimate attack" is called chain attack, and it involves having your whole party attack the enemy at once, sometimes more than once, and IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE you can directly choose what arts your party members will use.
In Xeno X they added a couple things to the battle system, compared to the original:
>Now you can set up "combos" with your party members, that are triggered on certain events during battles.
>You have some kind of overdrive mode where you can spam abilities or something instead of chain attack.
>When an ability's finished cooling down, you can use it, or you can wait for it to cool down again, for a more powerful version, or you can wait for it to cool down a third time for an even more powerful version, I think.
Holy shit, someone at the higher ups of Best-Buy made a /v/ edit, from last year, a real thing
Even if you're tired of hearing about censorship of this game, you habe to admit that leaving the costumes alone would have saved everyone a lot of shitposting from both sides. It's the Streisand effect, if you don't want people to notice, then don't call attention to it.
I think that she died, I don't remember her seeing her in another cutscene.
If fictional characters count as real people does that mean my waifu is real?
It's practically the only publicity the game is getting currently and Nintendo didn't have to pay a fucking cent for it.
I'm not saying this is or isn't a good move, just that NoA fucking sucks at advertising.
>I'm not saying this is or isn't a good move, just that NoA fucking sucks at advertising.
>Advertising a non-mario title.
They literally don't like localizing anything that's not Mario. That's why these games always gets the bare minimum they can spend.
>(Excluding colllector's edition)
Fuck you too Best Buy. Cant fit pizza in my macros anyway
that wasn't NoA
The treehouse didn't want to localize XBC in the first place because it would be stupid to release video games on a console that hasn't had videogames for 2 years
NoE did that, NoA published Xenoblade through Gamestop only with XSEED publishing LS and PT. Though, that was probably one of the rare moments where they didn't censor or alter anything when they localized it.
>Not pre-ordering Amazon
Also, not too sure if I should buy Oatmeal-san's game.
Japanese loli-shit is cancer and the weebs defending it are creepy fucking faggots anyways.
y'know you remind me of an old pizza dog
Cancelled my preorder and kept my Wii U on 5.3.2 so I can pirate this later.
Glad I bought it second hand, I'm already getting fucked by them by having dropped support 4 years after launching, now I know real buyer remorse.
It's okay for Japanese children to see a lot of shit that would never fly with American soccer moms.
Case in point: naked man asses and bloody murders in Kamen Rider.
>Oh hey Xenoblade flopped
>Must be because it's a niche JRPG series! Despite our best efforts to localize it, it was still too Japanese for the Western audiences!
>Let's never localize a JRPG again and concentrate our efforts on adding more memes to Mario and Zelda!
>MFW I bought a 32gb WiiU for $150
Made sense to me.
you are idiot.
here, specially for you, what will happen if you photograph character standing above screen a bit. left and right pictures are the same angle. Center and right picture is how in the game.
do simple mathematics
>religious symbolism vita to story development
>and physical outfits
If it was on a sony consoel those would be non issue.
Kinda sad this sort of thing ultimately limits what can be made on Nintendo.
/v/ is not thinking long tern enough about this issue. Future games wont even need to be censored, because they have "learned their lesson" from this game and shy away further from anything susceptible to controversy.
A far cry from the themes a game like Xenogears tried to tap into.
I remember when I was a small boy playing Pokemon on my gameboy and I saw Misty wearing a swimsuit, I didn't know it at the time but I was corrupted from that moment on. It's shocking that such a thing made it into a Nintendo game.
Thankfully the kids of today will not know my sorrow. Also gambling.
>Center and right picture is how in the game.
meant same exactly model and costume as in the game, JP release.
I should clarify or some retards will think that proportions are changed.
They should just do it in 2D, people love that shit, and release it on Steam while it's half-done.
That way they can keep all their artistic integrity.
It's not like Xenoblade gameplay is so funny anyway.
Goetia looks like the Diva from the Fifth Element. She's pretty cute despite being an evil squid-alien girl.
Yeah I'm sure the moms get real hot over the murders. Gotta sate that milfy bloodlust.
>stabs a guy with a sword
The references are hardly even there, I don't know why people are saying they were a huge part of X's plot when they weren't, sounds like people who didn't play the game and are just parroting shit posters now.
>It's GOOD CENSORSHIP! It's IMPROVEMENT! If you don't like it you're an EDGY LORD!
Holy shit, is this ironic? How come so many ppl defending cenorship with this bullshit fascist speach on /v/? On 4chan FFS.
It doesn't read as ironic. More than half the posts are defending censorship. Why? Seriously why are you doing that? When did this happen? I know "/v/ is shit" yadda yadda but this is something else entirely.
It's genuinely upsetting seeing so many posts screaming PEDO and ITS BETTER THIS WAY. Are you Americans? Why so pro-censorship? It doesn't matter if it's not important aspects to you. That has no relevance at all to any discussion about censorship. It's not about personal taste.
And dont bother screaming YOU MAD, if you can't bother arguing. I AM mad because this is not shitposting anymore, ppl are genuinely PRO CENSORSHIP on /v/. An American website that always was pro-freedom even if stupid. And this coming from a non-american. Disgusting.
>Kick a guy in the chest
>He goes nuclear
That's because they are.
Like man, changing Testament to Reclaimer honestly makes more sense. There was no religious double meaning for Testament at all, and Reclaimer is not only more forthright with the purpose, but
makes more sense being viewed as a big industrial machine.
