what are some games that go beyond the superficial majority? games that actually try to convey a message, games that have artistic integrity, games that have literary merit...etc.

Undertale.
It even has beter scores than MGSV.
These games are so deep that it's pretty much a rabbit hole with no end.

Walk through a house.
Find out in the end everything going on is about a lesbian who decided to desert the fucking military, and her fucking country.
Nice message.

I'm not even going to bother getting a bait reaction image for this. Try harder.
You know what? Gone Home may be shit, it may not be a game, it may push a Tumblr agenda, etc., but I think it deserves credit for having decent graphics, when so many indie game are "retro" 8-bit shit. In that area, it was a breath of fresh air.
Gone Home's indie graphics aren't Undertale.

I really enjoyed this one. It may have been more of an interactive story than anything, but at least the proceeds go to a good cause and it isn't some pretentious sjw bullshit like gone home or depression quest.

this. And it calls itself a VN so "not a game" isn't really much of a criticism.
Sure the story is a bit snowflakey but it was well-told and interesting, unlike fucking Gone Home which other than being about a lesbian, was the most generic romance story ever.

Writing of a caliber I would literally expect out of a 10 year old. Fuck you and fuck every single person who ever praised that piece of shit.

Not a game is never a criticism at all. It's a bizarre fixation on terminology that by rights no one should give half a shit about.
OP's pic unrelated of course.
