>TPP is implemented
>AAA games costs quadruple
>video game market is wide open for based eastern devs
>western devs literally unable to compete and end up dying
Can you feel the tumbling, /v/?
It's going to be glorious.
>mfw the golden era of videgame will come back
>PS4 winning with almost 60% marketshare
>japanese devs jumping on the PS4
>eastern exclusives everywhere
PS2 2.0 confirmed.
>not a western game made by japanese developers
Another 20 years on Copyright to protect Mickey Mouse. No exception for crumbling decades old orphan works.
More bans on circumventing DRM because that worked so well last time.
New more severe penalties for piracy of Windows or games. Actual enforcement of anti-piracy measures required in all signatories.
I kind of want to know what TPP but at the same time don't want to because ignorance is bliss
>Both Trump and Sanders hate it
I don't know what to think about it
basically turns copyright infringement into a real crime rather than civil. its unenforceable.
also, it hasn't passed through the Senate yet, which currently can't get a budget through
TPP is a hidden message about the TPP. He warned you but you didn't listen.
Its literally going to make it that much more difficult for non-western devs to compete, but video games are the smallest concern of the results of TPP. And yes I am taking your bait on purpose because the rise of globalization oversaturation causing a few large rich countries to dictate their will on nearly all other countries is something I actually care about.
Not yet. Although since everybody has agreed to start the process it likely will.
There is also NOTHING any one of us could do to stop it. You need power to stop it and if you have power TPP is likely good for you.
>basically fucks the entire european law systems
>fucks the consumer because cheap chemical american food gets on the market, knocks out the european competitors thats regulated by the european law
>can no longer know whats inside the goddamn food you eat
>only a bunch of CEOs in america have any benefit from it
Oh, and european politcs who can now magically afford a yacht in Monte Carlo.
Basically, everyone gets a dick in the ass.
Trans-Pacific Partnership is a large trade deal between Pacific nations to reduce trade barriers and tariffs, standardizing commercial and corporate regulation and laws across members to ease market, import and export access.
Those for it see the benefits of opening markets to emerging nations in Pacific-Asia, and in turn access to Canadian and American natural resources. Those against it see it as harmful to their country's regulations, allowing a 'secret' trade deal to determine economic and commercial policy.
It's the old free trade vs. protectionism debate again
>propriety software can literally lie to you and fudge statistics
>only way to know for sure is to rip and decrypt
>literally illegal to do and exposing companies for their immoral software practices would just net you prison time and the company might at most get a tiny fine that wouldn't even deter them from doing it again, let alone threaten other companies in the industry from practicing the same underhanded tactics
DRM IS GOD
It's NAFTA all over again.
Also, OP is a literal retard.
>it hasn't passed through the Senate yet
Ok I'll check back in 40 years when they've revised the bill to hell and back and then never actually pass it like they do with everything that goes through the Senate and the HoR
>It allows for secret arbitration panels to effectively overrule national regulations by allowing foreign investors to sue governments over lost potential future profits in secret arbitration panels.
So, it's fucking Cyberpunk in the making where corporations are the most powerful entity?
You are setting a new standard of retardation.
Please go away
The International Sheep Dog Society (ISDS) is a member organisation and registers over 6,000 Border Collie pups every year on behalf of its members. The ISDS Number and Dog Certificate are a guarantee of pedigree that, for most dogs, can be traced back over 100 years.
The evil in that picture is almost overwhelming
Anyone who supports TPP is a fucking dumbass
Only 5 of the 21 chapters has anything to do with actual trade the rest is ramping up copyright protections (making it a criminal offense), getting rid of generic medicines, and making it so companies can sue for "potential profits lost"
Real world 1984 and idiots are cheering for it
ISP monitoring, potential profit
Feminists and lgbt
Modding, LP, YT
>companies can sue for "potential profits lost"
PIRATES GETTING BTFO
That's never going through.
You know how PS3's cost thousands of dollars in Brazil? Well with the American based agreement, they would not have a right to charge an arm and a leg. Their taxes and tariffs would be "outlawed" allowing Brazilians to pay cheaper prices.
Reality: America is trying to tell entire countries that corporate America is above their taxation laws.
>anime and manga sites
Based Obama BTFO weeb faggots
>born just in time to see life become dystopian
>we are going to live in a cyberpunk nightmare without the cyber stuffs
The most based president since Andrew Jackson.
so is it just punk then?
>tfw cyber punk will never be real because to make trillions of dollars, huge corporations can easily just keep us living in poverty forever without access to any technological innovations
>"I'll happily have my testicles chopped off and my arms amputated if it means that people who like things I don't are inconvenienced! HURT ME MOOOOOOORE!!!"
I sincerely hope you're just pretending o be a raging dumbass for the sake of replies.
Not just pirates either.
Generic medicine? This means big pharm loses profits from that generic medicine. SUED.
Small farm makes better/healthier products next to a big farm? SUED
Point out that a product is dangerous and take it to social media to spread the word and protect others? SUED
Seriously I'm still confused over that guy calling being against TPP a /pol/ meme opinion. Yeah it's written by jews and fucks white people but it fucks nigs, gays and women twice as hard. How the fuck can you possibly be in favor of that trash.
the multinationals that bought the obama administration and got the bill this far will now be buying votes to get it through congress, so the short answer is, it can pass even if most of the politicians are "against" it
daily reminder that, contrary to the bullshit contexts usually framed around it, the 2nd amendment has grown more relevant each day since the end of the revolutionary war
Hollywood, Big Corportations, and Lobbyists will have near-total power to police you and send you to prison for whatever reasons they feel like listing. They can force your internet company to give them your IP address and see if you've visited any site that has a hint of torrenting material on them, then come to your house and check your computer to see what's on it. And it makes the punishments far more severe, even more severe than what rapists and murderers and child abusers face.
They don't actually look into at all, and just assume because /pol/ is against it it must be tinfoil hat.
Just read two paragraphs into this shit by something that isn't written by shills or dumbasses and it's easy to find out it fucks over EVERYBODY.
Make generic medicine illegal because it harms the profits of brand name.
Make copyright infringement much more strict including but not limited to doujins, cosplay, piracy, fan fiction, posting a screenshot, etc
Deregulate food control such as dangerous pesticide usage, over-fishing, etc (because this takes away from profits)
Makes it so that companies can sue for potential profit loss, this could mean literally anything so long as they can argue "well this made me lose money".
Makes it so they do not need to label GMO foods (even foods that have soy or corn spliced in which can trigger allergies). Less information is ALWAYS bad, even though most GMO is harmless.
Modding a game now illegal, circumventing DRM now illegal, piracy now a criminal act, making a youtube video with a picture of an article you're talking about or a segment of a video you're responding to now illegal...
What can you do?
Locate your nearest congress representative, call your local politicians, and tell them you do not support anyone who supports TPP.
Get your family to do the same (or friends if you have any).
This effects Europe, too. TTIP is the same thing as TPP but effecting europe.
Contact your government representatives.
Also for the upcoming elections make sure whoever you vote for is anti-TPP (off the top of my head Sanders or Trump, Paul is pro-TPP as is hillary).
So basically this fucks over pirates and China/India but nothing else. Good thing I buy most shit after doing research.
No. It applies to any country that agreed to the agreement, and if it passes with them, the rest of the world will soon follow suit because it'll be that much easier to pressure them into it.
>weebs think they know anything about economics
>Makes it so that companies can sue for potential profit loss, this could mean literally anything so long as they can argue "well this made me lose money".
Boy oh boy, I'm glad we've reached the era of thought crimes
I hope by Eastern OP means eastern Europe, becuase Japan is under TPP
No. TPP is for 12+ countries, TTIP is for Europe.
No one is safe, except perhaps Russia.
It also effects small farms, generic medicines, fan fiction, pretty much everything on youtube (no, not just cancerous LPs), criticizing anything, food safety, and shit tons of other stuff.
This isn't just "hurr durr pirates" this is "corporations are people and you'll be fucked for the sake of them making more money".
Learn to fucking read.
Because this is America, where Big Business and Big Corp are recognized as people and given far more rights than what the citizens of the country have.
Nope. This is a coalition of nations backed by Hollywood an Big Corp. Every country involved will be the exact same way about what's against the laws in TPP.
If you live in a country that passes TPP then it applies to you. The trick is convincing legislatures to pass it. Considering it's been heavily criticized (more like feared) by people across the political spectrum, that's far from guaranteed.
>Make copyright infringement much more strict including but not limited to doujins, cosplay, piracy, fan fiction, posting a screenshot, etc
Fuck this gay Earth.
>Also for the upcoming elections make sure whoever you vote for is anti-TPP (off the top of my head Sanders or Trump, Paul is pro-TPP as is hillary).
Well I was probably already going to vote for Sanders already, since from what I've heard and seen, he seems like the most rational candidate to vote for.
You do know MGSV is based around the Russian/American proxy war in the middle east and Africa right?
Why do you think such a big theme were these random companies that no one really knew about but ended up being funded by obvious people.
Replace Cipher with just America.
What do you thinks been happening?
>basically turns copyright infringement into a real crime
So is this the reason why we didn't beat Isis in 10 years but Russia did in 1? We spent too much time and energy on trivial bullshit like making sure people who make stock photos can extort people for money if they look marginally like some shit they made in 4 minutes?
TPP is Obama's baby, his last chance to do something impactful while he's still in office.
GOP will fight it tooth and nail, if only to stall it being passed until someone else is in office and tobacco lobbies can get a better deal.
Because it fucks over pretty much everyone and he doesn't give a single shit about corporations as he's already said.
He's big business but he's not one of THE big businesses so this would undoubtedly screw him over too.
Not being able to read the whole thing plus what is available to read is fucking horrible.
This only hints at what the whole thing contains.
At the post-agreement stream on youtube one woman mentioned there being a section about "women's issues".
Who wants to bet it either makes it a criminal offense to not have 50/50 male/female employees or they're only saying that to make feminists/etc support it?
It absolutely does, but that's been done with every trade agreement. Let's consider a hypothetical trade agreement in which everyone wins and no one loses. Every single person would be happy with the result. The people negotiating that treaty would be dogged by the press constantly, lobbied by special interest groups, and heckled by the ignorant masses. These treaties are negotiated in secret because the people involved want to be able to speak freely and consider ideas without being constantly harassed. Of course, they're also ruthless jews trying to enslave the world, but that's a different matter.
>Replace Cipher with just America.
The game outright states that CIA and America supports mujahideen, there's no need to replace shit
Also Cipher is neither America or USSR, it's the third force. Cipher and Patriots only use USA as a power-base for operations, if the power has shifter so would they
>laws put in place years ago in order to prevent monopolies
>fast forward to 2015
>government trying to make it ok to pretty much monopolize things
why is america so shitty
So, if I'm understanding this right, horde all the pirated hentai, animus, cartoons, vidya, and photoshop type shit I can get my hands on, then put them on an external drive which I can chuck out a window when the secret police come to take me to gulag?
Disney has been the biggest group to change copyright for the worst.
Copyright used to last until the author's death (he can no longer suffer profit loss or profit from the copyright so now he no longer needs it) but now it's 70-110 years after his death and can be renewed.
Basically sit in your house and rot.
I'd suggest to take up farming, but you can't do that without reporting all your crops to the IRS
you can't start a business fixing computers without getting 8 different certs, contacting your local government to make sure you can run your business, deal with zoning, and other shit
don't upload to youtube
change your steam avatar to something you created
actually, uninstall your games as well, they probably have copywritten ideas in them, don't want to go to jail for that.
are you cooking a hot pocket? I hope you aren't putting salt or pepper on there, that's probably copywritten
You pirate ANYTHING, you go to jail with a more severe penalty than a rapist or serial killer gets. That includes and in fact counts more for your superior American video games and cartoons, because Hollywood is a huge backer of this shit.
It's hilarious and extremely frightening how many people here are so eager to be fucked in the ass because "hurr people who like Japan make me so angry!".
And contact your congress representatives and local politicians and encourage your family to do the same.
Cherry pick examples of what it'll do to help them understand. Pick based on what they find most important. They most likely won't be willing to read tons and tons of shit on it.
Do they own a small farm or are vegans who are anti-gmo? Link stuff on that.
Do they pirate? Link that.
Do they take any medication? Link stuff on generics being banned.
MAKE THEM CARE.
This hasn't been passed yet, so don't let it.
>you can't start a business fixing computers without getting 8 different certs
What. You don't need any certs to fix computers, sure most places will want you to have A+ but you can definitely get a job without it
You know, piracy is a crime here in Brazil and a lot of us HUEs never paid for a single game, be it pc or consoles.Won't this be like prohibition days: enforcement impossible and illegality the way?
>Government is literally trying to regulate and control every aspect of our lives
>liberals practically enjoy having the red white and blue dick shoved up their assholes, while preaching that republicans, other conservatives, and moderates are the ones with the dicks in their asses
I swear to fucking god I hate everything. This life isn't supposed to be hard BECAUSE of your government.
>Open up Sad panda
>Comcast rats me out
>Cops swarm my house
I'll be Ready
At least in the US the company/person who owns the copyright needs to sue in order for you to get in trouble.
However, this makes it so that they do NOT need to do anything, as it's not a criminal offense. This paired with ISPs being under obligation to spy on you and report you if you do anything illegal will make it much easier to enforce (yes that's part of TPP and TTIP too)
>Conservatives are backing this
How? Nothing about this supports the free market and that's what they're all about.
This is not what a free market looks like! What are they even doing?!
Why don't you guys just buy your video games like I do?
As soon as it passes.
Gets signed in 6 months, then your government just needs to agree.
Not under TPP. Making/downloading copies of things you own is illegal if this passes.
Guess what: Nothing is won forever. You will be fighting for your most basic freedoms and human rights for as long as you live, and so will every subsequent generation. There will always, always be tyrants and jews working tirelessly to fuck you up the ass unless you actively try to stop them.
>How? Nothing about this supports the free market and that's what they're all about.
Because they don't care about the free market. Did you really think people would be content have competitive business?
2 months, 60 days.
Ripping is illegal under TPP. Considered copyright infringement.
Backups are also illegal.
This involves more than games. Read the thread.
>Can't compete with a country because they're an economic powerhouse
>Create trade partnerships and treaties to try and exclude them and remain relevant
Isn't this what happened with The Matrix and Zero One?
>The Second Renaissance is going to happen, but with Chinese instead of robots
>Implying that TTIP/TPP will not come to other countries
>Implying that the whole world will not be fucked over
Nice, Weebs getting BTFO with their jap shit and pirates actually have to get jobs
I guess we'll go back to 90's when "pirating" game meant buying $5 copy from under table at local flea market.
Hey neighborbro, Malta here. Politicians here have been touting TTIP as a godsend that will get us a shitload of billion every year and since 80% of the country is either a Labourite Zealot or a Nationalist Zealot, they're been sucking their dick left right and center. There's almost fuckall resistance to TTIP here.
This guy thinks he's immune to the influence of powerful corporations
This makes it a criminal offense.
The owners of the copyright do not have to sue you for you to get in trouble.
Instead, the cops show up after your ISP notified them (this becomes mandatory).
>VR waifu simulator comes out
>dating sites sue them for loss of profits, it gets shut down as a result
pretty sure this thing makes that work somehow, thank fuck im not an americuck
but I am a britbong so hopefully the TTIP doesn't pass either
I am, Wal-mart didn't do shit to me when I shoplifted from them, in fact, they dropped the charges even though it was over $200 of shit.
Corporations can suck my left nut. Get on my level bitch.
I can't see this being enforced, either every ISP is on board, or one ISP falls back and becomes known as the one that doesn't snitch.
This would totally work if the government just became the national ISP
what a fun day that would be
Well shit,i will go to fap for the last time
I will miss real life
Then I just fuck my PC up as they show up. I have everything backed up already and hidden away (ie: not at my house). They have no proof then, and as I was not aware of their intentions before arriving, I escape prosecution. Sure they can use the ISP logs, but what actual physical proof do they have? At that point it's just baseless conjecture.
>Sure they can use the ISP logs, but what actual physical proof do they have? At that point it's just baseless conjecture.
Actually this excuse was used so many times that it's now a law that if your name is on the bill, it's your responsibility
I don't know, are America, Canada, and Japan first world countries?
And under the TTIP, do places like Germany and the UK or France count?
This is all about dragging the corpse of middle class down to third-world standards and cyberpunk-tier corporate godhood. I hope your asshole is ready.
>hurr durr just buy ur weeb shit
WHO THE FUCK IS GOING TO FAN TRANSLATE MY OBSCURE FETISH HENTAI IF NO ONE CAN PIRATE IT? WHO THE FUCK IS GOING TO MAKE OBSCURE FETISH HENTAI IF THEY CAN'T DOUJIN IT? REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Unless you manufacture equipment or vehicles. Ford Motor Co. and other big auto manufacturers are openly against it because(from what I understand anyway) it will allow imports to be bought at much lower prices which in turn will force domestics to lower prices to compete.
I read most of it and all I got was the world vs China . why is this bad?
In a perfect world you could count on that, but when your ISP choices are giant evil corporation #1 and giant evil corporation #2 who are actively working to suppress any competition by any and all means necessary, you're shit outta luck. All the govt has to do is coerce those giant conglomerates to dance to their tune, and pirates everywhere are going to need a king size bottle of lube
This is why I don't think the whole piracy part of the agreement will be enforced any more than it already is (i.e: not at all).
Man, back when buying ps1 games at the market, someof the biggest buyers were fucking cops! Sure they'd do a bust once in a while but that's just to save face, was told this by a cop himself. Same shit they do with weed.
Most cops aren't Sam fucking Vimes, they have bigger fish to fry than some dude who downloaded the latest Nickelback Album or My Wife's First Monster Cock DVD.
Everyone who even downloads a fucking song is a target. Too much fucking work, man.
It hasn't passed. This will be debated for months, possibly even longer under Congress. Considering we have one major Presidential Nominee opposing it, they'd have to get it done before the next President waltzes in, which chances of that happening are slim considering the massive amount of countries and laws involved. Hell said Presidential Candidate actually has a pretty damn strong backing, especially among the younger generation.
Not exactly true. In many places it's illegal to bypass copy protection which you need to do to rip most modern media. While it's legal to have a backup in most places getting that backup involves that first step making the process illegal.
What I don't understand is that if this goes through, how is the anime/manga industry going to survive?
Perhaps in Japan it will, but anything to do with the west will just die instantly if people are getting arrested for viewing it near release as opposed to waiting months/tears for official translations
Furthermore if posting an image/video of something can get you arrested its impossible for word of mouth to promote it and there is no official advertising for these things that people actually watch, and if this nonsense about cosplayers being arrested for cosplaying becomes reality then how does anyone do anything?
I know that was non-vidya but most of the same stuff applies to vidya promotion, the youtube celebs will want their cut and they don't appreciate companies barging in on it so goodbye youtube promotion, at which point you've lost the attention of the entire pewdiwpie/markiplier generation
that hurt to type
TL;DR goodbye fun things hello corporate nightmare, thanks USA
>66% of americans now live in unconstitutional border area
>europe is ruled by american corporations and the city of london who are above the law
>radical feminism and pc bullshit is used for agressive war propaganda and the radicalization of the people
>governments create actual crises in order to divert attention
All i wanted was to play video games.
This article is too scattershot and only covers the surface of the important topics. All I see is the politics behind the agreement, effects on tobacco and pharmaceutical companies, something about automobiles, and milk.
Where are my games?
>a bill that only benefits corporations and not people
>Furthermore if posting an image/video of something can get you arrested
Then this entire site and pretty much any popular site on the internet including fucking FACEBOOK are in violation
>This will be debated for months, possibly even longer under Congress.
You mean it would have been, if they hadn't already passed the motion to fast track it while you were distracted by pointless bullshit.
>Country tries to outlaw slave labour
>Corporation sues the government because outlawing slavery would reduce their profits
>Corporation wins because TPP makes them right
>Government pays X billion of taxpayer's money in damages
Dystopian future of unseen global jew tyrant overlords imminent, only instead of neon and flying cars there is only work and hunger.
While having full on police busts is indeed going to be unlikely in all but the largest profile cases, I can easily see the thing working like speed cameras. Set up automated surveillance and automatically send out monstrously expensive fines to everyone who hits the honeypot
And people who like medicine at a proper cost and not jacked up to $700.
And people who like to know what types of ingredients foods have to avoid allergies, which leads back to affordable medicine.
And people liking to be able to say a company's name while talking without using their name against their will, therefore leading to potentially being sued and a criminal record.
TTP is not just for pirates Anon.
>A few years in the future you'll be arrested for pepeposting and mootposting
weebposters deserves it, those fuckers
I know, feels bad. But you know, that was a bad example. Sure "it's the law" but Vimes wouldn't punish that severely neither.
I don't think such a thing is enforceable. Piracy is so simple it's pretty much a given.
Every jailbroken phone, every single downloaded song, every game crack or iso, every fucking porno you watch off the PC makes you a target.
>"If we beheaded every ranger who lay with a girl, the Wall would be manned by headless men."
It's impossible to enforce.
Its not meant to go after the people who download a song, its meant to go after the absolutely pervasive piracy of Windows and software for Windows. Specifically TPP will make it legal for companies to take actions against users who are violating their copyright on software.
So for instance in Windows 10 Microsoft have stated they would in the future 'encourage' users upgrading from pirated copies to obtain legitimate licenses. In the current legal situation they're very limited in what actions they can take but once TPP is ratified Microsoft would have the legal power to push an auto update that would render your system unbootable until you have paid.
>le capitalism boogieman
/pol/fags are truly more stupid than monkeys.
Just fuck off back to your quarantine zone.
Fucks over pretty much every business including his.
No competition = no fun for trump
Also a reminder that obama fast tracked this, meaning that congress needs to only give 51% approval for this to pass.
You NEED to be contacting people, sending letters and calls AS WELL AS emails. Emails will just net you a generic reply, but at least it's something.
>mining company wants to mine gold in my country
>shit is illegal an everyone protests
>the government rejects a bill that would have allowed the mining company to do their shit fucking up everything
>The TPP would allow the mining company to sue my country for the gold it could have mined
Jesus christ this is fucking hilarious. Why the fuck would any country would agree to such a fucking thing? To sign a document that puts foreign corporations above their own laws?
The real fun thing about this is how even though they have reached agreement they still have years until its pushed though. Even then I doubt it will be agreed upon when it hits the senate in 6 plus months.
But the real joke, the thing that makes my Government so fucking ridiculous is they will just rebrand and present it again and again because thats how we do.
It was DRAFTED October 5, 2015. If you seriously think a law this large has passed in only one day being fast tracked or not, then you are delusional. In fact the TPP has been known since 2013 through Wikileaks, at the very least it's existence. That's 2 years just to have gotten it drafted, let alone for the actual law to be discussed, potentially and likely passed, and then put into action.
Hell all this started in 2012 actually, so make that 3 years. The main problems against it that have taken it so long as agricultural, intellectual properties, and service & investments. Just those 3 things have caused it to delay for 3 years and we're just in the drafting stage.
Considering there is still tons of public outcry, not just for civilians, but for those in positions of power too not just from the US, but from tons of the countries involved, says a lot.
This is going to be debated for months, possibly even years and likely the draft will change in that time and re-debated. Laws such as this don't just magically pop into existence and start getting enforced immediately kiddo.
The TPP is giving multinational corporations the legal ability to sue a government for lost profits. For example, if the government builds a public hospital, and the corporate private hospital loses business because of it, they can sue the government.
In addition to this it's pretty much every draconian anti-piracy legislation ever proposed, all at once, prosecuted internationally under American law. This means, if you're not American, you've never been to America and you have NO ACCESS TO AN AMERICAN LAWYER, you'll still be charged under American law, and as a result of having no access to American legal aid, you have no ability to defend yourself.
I doubt that'd be it neither, you jut have to get one guy to report this shit and you'd have the country in an uproar. Thousand of euros because your kid got on your computer, downloaded a song for his new birthday phone? Then once one guy starts screaming bloody murder, everyone starts acting brave and adds their screams to the din.
Automated systems are probably even worse, would be like a fucking russian roulette of "Whose sucking down the fine today?"
>inb4 it's the Police Commissioner himself because he wanted to play the full version of peggle when he was taking a shit.
Because they'll be excommunicated if they don't.
For the US, people are only allowed to read one page at a time and only under supervision.
The majority have no idea what they're actually supporting.
It's totally fine, helps both sides of the agreement to become more competitive in today's market and facilitates true free trade between all parties.
t. politician who got nice kickbacks and a cushy job offer from said mining company
>Ripping is illegal under TPP. Considered copyright infringement.
>Backups are also illegal.
Maybe in amerikka, in glorious Poland it is illegal to prevent you from making backup copies.
There was classaction lawsuit against securom.
Politicians are fucking stupid but when it comes to money they will do everything to protect their interests.
They would never accept a bribe to pass a law that would prevent them from stealing more money or put them at risk of losing the place from where they steal money.
At least not in my country.
>/pol/ hates capitalism
Hey guys, gay rights, confederate flags, bruce jenner
The majority of people have no idea what this is, or as you've seen in the thread only see it as "it's to make trade better it can't be bad".
It's fast-tracked, so no revising allowed.
51% of congress has to say yes and it's passed.
They already agreed to terms, and are about to sign it in two months.
Obama is pro-TPP so that's one hurdle out of the way already.
Even bigger fat cats like disney.
Only 51% to get passed congress. Can you really rely on that?
Besides, the majority of people (including politicians) think this will be good because the information they're allowed to get their hands on is restricted.
TPP/TTIP puts the will of corporations above foreign law. If it's legal to make backups in your country, but TPP says that it's not, foreign corporations can sue your government for lost profits i.e. your taxes.
They will. The nation's pretty polarized right now to the point where people will oppose the opposite side just because they're not them.
Plus there are groups around that raise a ruckus every time shit like this happens. Pretty sure they're the same groups that go for net neutrality and go against stuff like SOPA.
I don't see the big deal
>Piracy is illegal
Always has been.
>Cops will bust down your door and check your files
Highly doubtful, but even if they did, just mvoe everything you own to a USB and burry it in the backyard of something if youre that insecure.
You shouldn't be pirating in the first place. legal rule is you can keep any rom for 24 hours, if you keep it longer, prepare to face the consequences.
He's a billionaire populist and he has the leverage to say whatever appeals to the average Joe because he's not beholden to any PACs or corporate interests other than his own.
I think he'd be a terrible president but I think him rejecting TPP is pretty consistent with "muh wall"
>create most amazing invention in the history of mankind: The Internet
>greedy, evil human beings persist in power and continually try to ruin it for their own benefit
Human beings can be so fucking disgusting.
Well to be fair, the internet was created to quickly share scientific advances between researchers to help further humanity.
instead it's a dumping ground for girls twerking and people posting their sonic diaper comics
So we're not all innocent here
GOP owns more than 51% of both houses. Even if we assume there is party disloyalty, that cuts both ways (some democrats were against the last gun control measure that was tried in 2013).
Also I have no idea what the majority of people think, since the only place that seems to be talking about this are on here. Right now the Obama administration is working way harder to get the Iran deal accepted, I think general public awareness of the TPP isn't' that great.
They also don't know that Obama is already done signing the TPA and TAA into law, which helps bypass the amendments. I'd imagine it might take longer than 2 months personally, but it will eventually see the light of day before Obama's term is up.
Windows 7 is only supported for another 5 years. We have little time to build a new platform for PC gaming. We can't sit down in front of our Windows 7 PCs that are EOL in 2020 and decide "I'm going to switch to a different OS for gaming that respects my freedom" because if we wait it will be too late.
Cops literally will not have access to my home or files
and if they did, I'd kill them or at least try. Life is precious and all that but I'd rather die fighting than die a slave. If you aren't willing to resist then why bother living? We aren't caged animals. We aren't livestock. They cannot treat us this way and get away with it.
Last time anything remotely major with the TPP was going to happen, SCOTUS passed the gay marriage bullshit a few hours beforehand to divert attention. Your government is doing everything it can to keep Americans completely ignorant about it.
Americans on /v/, post about this shit on facebook. If you fucks can't stop it, nobody can.
>supporting TPP because muh video games
day of the rope the NEETs will be the first to die, well first after niggers and kikes
It's great to see kids and young adults being politically active, but when you guys grow up, you'll realize there are more important things in politics than piracy and free speech.
Most adults are too busy worrying about taxes, health care, education and immigration to get angry over the small things in life. With time, I'm sure the rest of you will mature as well. Agreements like these pass all the time, and are a normal part of political bureaucracy.
This has been the case since the dawn of civilization anon. There have always been and always will be those whose only motivation in life is to seek wealth and power over others. Personal gain at the expense of humanity. History is just an endless string of tyrannies and rebellions, followed by more tyrannies.
I really just want to off myself and leave it all behind. It's not worth spending my entire life fighting for.
Bernie Sanders also doesn't support it, and as of right now both of them are very large backings in the country. It's why they're trying to get this passed while Obama is still in office.
It's not discussed much because it's not in the public eye. Though everyone I've seen that knows of the deal does not support it one bit. Except for one guy who is retarded and thinks he can start to sue people for using his name as a tag on facebook or him in pictures.
This is more than just piracy you fucking dumbass, learn to read.
Confiscating your hard drive.
You can say "hurr durr magnets" all you want, but it's very unlikely you'll actually be able to do that if they show up at your door.
If they do, and they find out you'll be arrested for obstruction of justice/destroying evidence.
After contacting a shit ton of politicians (you know, actually doing something), the majority of the responses have been "But trade is good so TPP is good I fully support TPP".
Edgy. But you know what would work better? Actually talking to people/politicians and trying to get this stopped in the first place.
You'd rather call a few representatives and threaten to spread the word of them shitting on people who need medicine than live a slave right?
Then actually do something.
This effects more than just americlaps, educate your family and politicians as well. You WILL be next.
>This effects more than just americlaps
I know, but the ship has already sailed everywhere else. We're already signed on entirely, only the American bureaucracy is stopping it being implemented completely tomorrow.
American Civilians lost power from the Government a long time ago. America stopped being a Republic where the people are in control and started becoming a Corporate Police State, it's been like this for ages now.
We can't do anything unless the entire country revolts, and that's not realistically happening. We have no power anymore, the best we can do is try to find loop-holes in the law.
Bernie Sanders has to be Anti-TPP because he'd sink his own campaign if he was a self proclaimed socialist trying to serve the big corporations. He has basically 0 chance though, I don't even know why we're talking about him.
China is imploding in on itself. If anybody has the power to fuck up the US anymore, it's Russia, and not through Global Trade either. Russia is starting to get tired of everyone's shit slowly.
>For example, if the government builds a public hospital, and the corporate private hospital loses business because of it, they can sue the government.
this is retarded
why would anyone think this is a good idea, the fact there are a bunch of countries agreeing to it makes me think like I am missing something in real life
The Patriots Program
This effects more than just piracy learn to fucking read, dipshit.
Medicine, labeling on food (important for those with allergies), small businesses, hospitals, it effects all of them.
Yes, europeans will be hit with TTIP which is the same thing for a different area.
This will over ride your country's laws because american corporations will be allowed to sue regardless.
As would I Anon, as would I, but sadly we can't. At the rate America is going and growing discord and economic issues within the country, I wouldn't be surprised if another Civil War or Rebellion happens within the next 30-40 years. No Empire or Great Nation lasts forever anyways.
I was actually entertaining the idea of diversions to keep the TPP off the public radar, but the government is nowhere near coordinated enough to intentionally work together to pull this off. Individually? Sure, Obama might actually be using the Iran deal as cover for the TPP, but I doubt that too, since Obama is clearly trying to create a legacy treaty, and "I stopped Iran from having the nuke" sounds way better than "I passed this trade thing, it didn't even make the paper."
Plus SCOTUS has a history of not giving a flying fuck what the other branches have to say. It's sort of the reason why they have that job for life.
Obviiously everyone should still make a big stink about it, but expand that from just telling other random people. Start talking directly to your member of congress, via phone, email, or snail mail. Congresspersons are way more inclined to listen to people who take the time to communicate with them directly, since the odds of them voting are way higher.
So I hate myself for even suggesting this, but obviously if this was passed it would fuck over lets plays and shit like that. Now e-celeb shit aside, what if we could get some big name person like, fuck, pewdiepie or something to alert more people about this. They may be cancer, but they are cancer with large followings and cancer that I can't imagine would be too happy about losing their jobs
Politicians are on the corporate payroll. They all have vested interests in allowing this to pass.
The average person can't realistically do anything because the same corporations control the media which makes their decisions for them.
I hate to say this, but it's going to have to get worse before it gets better. No one cares until their family is being hauled off on the back of a flatbed truck.
so he has middling support from the people that don't vote. The polls say Hillary curb-stomps him. Only way he has a chance is if the Democrats go crazy and play up the fact that Hillary's part in the e-mail thing is essentially criminal, particularly in these upcoming debates, but they're not going to throw the front runner candidate under the bus. Plus Sanders would have to go up against a loon like Trump for the silent majority moderates not to instantly turn on him when they hear the word socialist
America's track record:
Killed natives with SARS
Jumped in world wars late
Lost against Vietnam
Couldn't stop ISIS after a decade
Didn't give a fuck about WW2 but still managed to crush germany like it was nothing
wiped out all the samurai from japan
Destroyed ISIS in 1 day only because they were incidentally involved with something else Russia wanted
Pretty much, this is The Patriots: The Law.
they wont sue the gov obviously. because such thing would just incite a revolt. politicians will put their interest over their favorite corps if it comes to this.
unless they found out that people are goy enough to not do anything. which could be true because the goying processes are still going smooth as fk.
>hurr the only thing I care about is the weebs not getting their animoos and the ecelebs that make more money than me
How about you retarded dipshits think about how badly this will fuck over YOU, which it WILL.
Hillary is against it too, but can't make much of a public fuss because of the fact she pushed it hard while Obama's secretary of state. She tried to deny having anything to do with it, was met with 45 examples of her actively promoting it, and has now resorted to pretending it doesn't exist and is praying voters don't notice she's changed her stances one again to support her current political agenda.
>It affects vidya
Just like SOPA? just like ACTA?
Its just another /pol/ boogeyman that will never pass, stop getting your panties all worked up over it.
The first two didnt, and this one certainly won't either.
Board is for videogame discussion, not politics and doomsaying..
You do realize Russia still has loads of nuclear weapons right? We'd be sent back into a Cold War and with Putin at the helm, he's not about to just roll over as Khrushchev did.
That example is not the intention of the dispute settlement part of the agreement.
Here's another more likely example, a company makes a deal with a government to do some work, infrastructure building, software development, whatever. Then there's an election and the new people in power decide they don't want to honor that deal out of spite, it's a deal "those other guys" made, and just tells the company to go fuck themselves. The company is now out a lot of money through no fault of their own. With this treaty they can now sue the government for fucking them over like that.
It's not as ridiculous as people make out, although I would argue it is going a little too far it mitigating risk for business and if easily abused.
Russia is economically weak (as always) that's why they try to look tough (ukraine, syria etc)
>China is imploding in on itself.
New silk road will surly help them.
I hope this doesn't reach my country until 2018 or something, so I can get my degree, start working and get enough money to hoard anime, comics, manga, music, and videogames on multiple terabyte harddrive.
I knew becoming a neet for 2 years from college was a bad idea, I am running out of time.
everything Russia can do with nukes the USA can do better, which doesn't mean much considering they both have the ability of destroying the entire world with one nuke.
Russia's economy is weak and getting weaker. That's why Khrushchev rolled over, that's why Putin will eventually
You are not getting his point.
He wants to use those fucks to spread the word around the American public and the rest of the world about this law.
That is literally a good thing, even if it is indeed retarded it's our best chance to spread the word.
That is exactly why I suggested something like that dipshit. I'm not ignorant to how bad this would fuck me over, but most people are and as one single person I can't do shit about it. On that note though, someone who has ignorant people who will listen to what they say, like pewdiepie, could potentially do more about getting this shit aware to more people than I can.
Just wait until food starts becoming regulated and handed out more dictatorially.
I'm not gonna say the end of the world, armageddon, or any of that religious stuff is true, because quite frankly I have no idea, but it really is looking that way with how the states are at each other's throats, the Corporate Government is ass fucking everyone, Police are getting more trigger and baton happy. Then you have people starving to death and getting desperate, people who are getting desperate for affordable medical treatments, people who are actively trying to go to jail just to have a free home and meal.
It's getting very bad.
Those two didn't pass because enough people and large companies like Google got together and collectively told the government to fuck off. I'm not sure if the TPP has that going against it this time around.
This doesnt make any sense. Won't this also kill job oppertunities?
Lets say, Mom and Pop's good Pizza, opens up down the street, they do something unique, and start gaining tons of profit. So Pizza hutt now has the right to sue that store because they stole profits?
How does that make any sense? How can any new company or business ever rise up if this in effect?
Something tells me your information is warped. it doesn't add up.
Doing nothing because "well the last cartoon villain tier bill didn't pass the last time they tried it" and actively encouraging others to do the same is a surefire way to have something equally nasty get successfully passed in the future
>Just wait until food starts becoming regulated and handed out more dictatorially.
Not even a concern, the shit you buy at the store is barely a step above slop. If you want decent ingredients you better have a farmers market nearby and you better have some spare cash which a minimum wage job will probably make it impossible to utilize
Who even cares about their militaries? What, you expect armies to march on Washington or Beijing? These are nuclear states; the Korean War was the last conventional war between major powers. China having a big military just translates to more of an ability to roll over Vietnamese, Arabs, and Africans when they please.. kinda like America quite frankly.
There's something really weird about this image that's always bot
