After IV/EFLC made guns actually feel like guns and not nerf toys, I have trouble going back to older GTAs.

I mean, VC/SA had superior soundtracks and stories, but IV/EFLC are just so mechanically beyond VC/SA. Argue all you want about how great Tommy or CJ were as characters, but I'll take mechanically superiority over flamboyant color and story.

Never said they were realistic, just that they felt closer to guns.

And even then, my bigger point is that after you've kneecapped people and watched them tumble down stairs clutching their heads to avoid cranial trauma, it's hard to go back to standing stock still listening to a rifle lightly pop until the other guy falls over with canned animation.

GTA V just feels like there is something missing, but I think that's due to not having any real antagonists. I thought it was about to go down when that Mexican cartel guy makes you pay for his girlfriends house, but you only hear from him and see him like 3-4 times and. The changing characters were alright, but you switch so often that you don't build a connection with them. I'd like a GTA game where you make your own character like how they have online, or even saints row and you have a rags to riches story. All the characters felt out of place, Franklin wanted to better himself, but was always doing fucked up shit. Trevor was just some depressed dude with a random personality, and Michael wanted to fix his relationship with his family, but kept doing the opposite and making it worse. I'm a good 60% done with the game And it just feels like there hasn't been any character development at all.

It's pretty good. Takes some getting used to if you haven't played the older ones, since the top-down/isometric perspective can be annoying at times, but beyond that it's got a good story with a cool protag and a good amount of mission variety, plus drug dealing that hooks you in.

I think it does especially with some of the earlier GTA missions. Plenty of Vice City missions have aged considerably

You faggots know this is going to happen. They've made HD versions of every ajor city besides Vice City. I just wish they'd focus on other locations than HD-ified shit they've made in the past.

This is why Red Dead will infinitely be more interesting as a sandbox series, since they can literally create any new location and call it the west as long as it feels like the west. GTA is too established to try anything new.

Not only that, but Rockstar hinted that GTA: Online is the future the series is heading towards, so no more singleplayer GTA and say hello to always online GTA MMO riddled with micro transactions.
