Do you like 4th wall breaking?
>>291161516
I absolutely love it! Especially when it's as heart-breaking and miserable as your pic, op.
>>291161516
Who is this slut.
>>291161516
It was only done well in EarthBound and Mother 3.
>>291161516
What game?
I want to break my heart.
>>291161951
Ar nosurge.
>>291161516
Yes.
>>291161516
I love it, especially when the game characters are chill with the player, and seperate him from the character he's playing. It's actually what sold me on tearaway when I got my vita.
Anyone got that one clip of a VN wherea character goes yandere when the player, and not MC, won't accept her feelings? She crashes the game by forcing a bad end, and then when it restarts she's made some changes. I remember something about her "calling god" before the wallbreaking twist happened
Yes, when it's done well like inEver 17, 999 and Virtue's Last Reward
>>291161881
No fuck off.
It was great in Baldur's Gate 2 ToB.
>>291162523
>>291161756
Ps3 game Ar Nosurge. Spiritual successor to the Ar Tonelico trilogy from Ps2 era.
>>291162523
Is it any good though?

Yeah I remembered the name a second after posting that.
>>291163124
>i am suddenly filled with euphoria...
Goddamnit what have you done to me /v/.
I can't read that word without having a smirk on my face.
>>291163476
I also had the exact same reaction.
>i knew we forgot some
>you
>>291163698
Yup I can, I'll just reinstall to make sure you completely forget.
>>291163698
yeah, bitch.
>>291161516
No.
>>291163698
>>291163124
>It's not a bug, it's a feature
>You, the player, have to fight the character you've been playing as in the final battle
It was a fun game. Let's hope they do that planned sequel eventually.
>>291162979
what was there again?
Didn't the Paper Mario games call out the person playing multiple times?
I don't remember.
>>291163698
I'm sad to say that this would probably scare me. The psychotic look is my weakness.
.... so... what game is this?
>>291164937Boku noread the thread
>>291163124
Aoi voice acting is terrible, and the crazy bitch (Miyuki?) is not very good either.
>>291161516
Just bring over Ciel already.
>>291161516
>>291161516
I liked it in Kid Icarus: Uprising
>>291162804
It's not that you won't accept her feelings its that after completing her routeyou can choose to romance another girl in the game. She realises she's in a VN though and starting a new game don't affect her memory or anything so she pretty much goes insane trying to stop you from not being hers.
>>291163124
That Eru scream lol
>>291163124
what if you play Aoi route first?
>>291166107
You can't.
Miyuki first. Then whatever girl you like after.
>>291166107
You can't. You need to loop through Miyuki like 3 times just to fuck Aoi
>>291163124
>13:13
oh shit
That was really neat though, surprisingly well done
>>291166318
weird design.
>>291161516
Only when it's not Deadpool doing it.
>>291165668
That sounds incredibly clever. I love it.
What are some VN's that remember your previous routes in order to open up new ones?
I already played the infinity series and zero escape.
>>291166687
There's a real short game that does something like that called No One Has To Die
>>291163124
>"I had to sit there as the man I loved put his mouth on another girl's vagina and suck out another man's semen"
Gross.
>>291167434
Yeah i remember it. Already played it.
Was a fun little game really.
>>291166687
It doesn't open up new routes, at least not in the demo, but you should still check out Undertale. The less you know, the better.
>>291168643Any news on when the full game is going to come out?
>>291168819
Sometime this year, if the dev is to be trusted. He did recently collect all the names of the Kickstarter backers to put in the credits, so I guess he's getting there.
>>291168643
I already played that too.
That fucking flower.
What about games where characters remember your previous playthroughs? That's what i wanted to ask but i phrased it wrong i think.
I like it when it's done well (for example, Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2) but usually no.
>>291161516
Not even the best example of wall breaking from the game OP.
The part where Cass gets pissed that you the player keep picking dialogue options that you find funny was hilarious.
Near the end of No More Heroes the fourth wall ceases to exist.

>>291161516
What game is that
>>291161516
I'd break her 4th wall, if you catch my drift
It's great in the DS game Contact.
>>291169043
It's a pretty unused thing. I think Irisu Syndrome might have it, never played it. Stanley Parable has some of that too, but its entire shtick is being meta, and there isn't too much meat on its bones. Other than that, you'll just have to look at indie games and RPGmaker stuff.
>>291170184
Sadly, that idea isn't used on Irisu Syndrome.
>>291161516
Ion best grill
>>291169043
Does it count if the main character is the only one who remembers the time loop? Because Kagetsu Tohya was all about puzzling your way through a time loop.
Hollow Ataraxia also had a time loop plot with two characters remembering every loop, but those weren't the MC.
>>291170759
Thanks, i'll check those out.
>>291163698
At least use webm or gif
>>291168819
It looks like within about half a year. I follow Radiation on twitter, and the impression I get is that he's just reached the "polishing" stage.
>>291163124
8 minutes
and 13 minutes
are where 4th wall is broken to anyone who doesnt want to watch all of it
>>291170476
Ion a shit
Nay best girl
>>291163124
>letting a woman hit someone with a bat
>not choking the bitch out for being a bitch
>>291173187
From what I understand, she's like a baseball pro.
And who could have seen that one coming
When it's done like pic related..._no
>>291170938
Oh god, please no...
>>291170938
Why doesn't this have a translation project, again?
>>291174501
Because it's pretty mediocre game
PC vn genre is dead
Most of good novels came out only on consoles
>>291174501
Well there is someone who plans to translate it. Can't say who though, since it'd increase the chances of it getting a C&D.
>>291174610
Most good VNs got ported from PC to consoles, dumbass.
Plus, some of the best VNs aren't even translated nowadays.
>>291166687
Little Busters
And it's not just limited to opening up new routes. You get new/different lines throughout the entire VN after completing certain routes.
>>291175181
>Most good VNs got ported from PC to consoles, dumbass.
It was other way around since Infinity series
>Plus, some of the best VNs aren't even translated nowadays.
Good ones rarely got translated even before, most of time it were a popular/fanservice ones
>>291167434
that was pretty neat
>playing killer is dead
>get to a really long elevator sequence
>all you can do is walk at a slow pace around the elevator
>there is a spinning disco ball in the elevator
>naturally, I do the only thing a person who plays video games would do, I start spinning the main character frantically while waiting
>"mondo what's taking so long?"
>"hey I'm not exactly twiddling my thumbs here"
Hehe
>>291169579
>you will never find that exit
>>291166687
Rewrite does it pretty tastefully.
Actually, most Keyshit does it, but Rewrite's final routes are actually HYPE as fuck.
>>291175638
The Infinity series is far from being the pinnacle of the genre, man.
>>291173593
Don't you fucking ever bring that game up again.
>>291173593
>>291175872
Is it really that bad?
During the final boss' first form in Final Fantasy IV, when Zeromus knocks out the whole party and all hope is lost, he stops to say that they'll fall into the darkness and shit.
Right after that, he looks at the screen and says that you will also fall into the darkness. Gave the idea that he was speaking directly to the player.
>Earthbound
>you, the player, deliver the final blow to Giygas
>>291175787
I have the strangest relationship of love/hate with rewrite. I love the setting and the characters (I still believe every girl is best girl) but it always had incredibly bad pacing issues.
The two secret routes are amazing and I cry every time I see the ending.
>>291176956
I thought the pacing was fine, but some routes were incredibly weaker than others. Akane's and Kotori's are incredible, but everything else is just either incredibly jarring and conflictive or just...boring.
Which is a shame, because everything else about it is excellent.
>>291177432
>Akane's and Kotori's are incredible
Maybe because they with moon/terra were written by same author?
Romeo Tanaka just like Maeda and few others gooks will always deliver something good
>>291177432
Still waiting for the anime. It has to be done.
