Basically yes, but 1 and 2 happen on the same world and if you finish 1 before 2 you get a code I think or something to carry your guild over to 2. However the difference aren't that great since the story in these games are very bare.

However, the series has done leps and bounds in regards to gameplay per installment with 3 and 4 being the peaks. Starting at 3 and 4 would usually mean you'd have a hard time getting into 1 and 2, but that's a nill worry not that Untold 1 and 2 exist.

Etrian are some of the last classic wandering dungeon exploring games that are still decently hard, kind of like Strange Journey. Walk as far as you can each new time you get into the labyrinth, try not to die automatically against each new group of enemies as you try to figure them out, manage your supplies, grinding isn't needed but strategy is needed, gotta get good to survive. The game won't hand you much of anything, you've gotta take it for yourself typically.

They've given the player Picnic mode as of Untold 1, but if you're worth your shit you won't play in any easy mode here.

It's a game that won't let you beat it any time soon, you could be playing for a good solid 60 hours or more at least, which honestly isn't bad. It's hard fought the entire way, but worth it. You get your money worth this way. Exploring, surviving, fighting, and questing.

Gotta get good, this fight will test your skills at level with set limits, and see what you've learned.

Binds, poisons, fire reduction, items, gotta use everything to break this enemy down. Get the prince to join you in battle, have the dancer buffing your party all around and giving you fire reduction, bind the dragons arms so he can't attack as much, poison him for 700 damage per turn with your assassin.

I dunno, I beat this boss two or three days ago.

Then I beat the ice dragon, but not the thunder one yet. Always be reducing fire damage for now.

Raising that assassin class or Hexer's poison throw to its utmost level, it can take down a lot of damage with each turn. Especially if you combine it with auto spread-throw, poison entire groups of enemies every turn, they all die at the end of the turn with by average 700 damage.

Keep some circles running, use Burst skills as well.

Pick whichever ones you want at first, get someone from each class, you have twenty-five slots. Make a character from each class you can see.

Try them out a bit, see which ones work out for you, try different ones early on until it works out.

It's a game where you find out about it through trial and going through in a sense.

Just get a Lankershageh the class at the top in your team, some long range types, front class types, etc. Balance them out.

Also the overworld and subclassing in 4 was pretty sweet, grimoire stones don't compare. Personally I thought the main huge dungeon was great, though.
