$14.99 again on the eShop, you have no excuse unless you already own it.
Fuck I prefer physical but 15 dollars is a good deal. How big is it? I only have the default memory card that comes with the 2DS, which is I believe 4 gigs/
Etrian Mystery Dungeon's coming out soon, do the Nips like it? Did it sell well?
How many of these games have we had these past few years?
This is atelier tier. Don't the games suffer from being spammed without dev't time?
If i had to pick to play just one, what would be the best?
Yes, but you need a copy of OoT and a way to put a modified save on it (old 3DS that can run Gateway, save dongle). And 9.2 firmware of course.
Sky3DS can substitute both, but why would you buy a flash cart only to install another flash cart.
What makes Sky3DS shit?
Do you think we'll get EOV before EOU3?
Basically yes, but 1 and 2 happen on the same world and if you finish 1 before 2 you get a code I think or something to carry your guild over to 2. However the difference aren't that great since the story in these games are very bare.
However, the series has done leps and bounds in regards to gameplay per installment with 3 and 4 being the peaks. Starting at 3 and 4 would usually mean you'd have a hard time getting into 1 and 2, but that's a nill worry not that Untold 1 and 2 exist.
So it's basically EO with less grinding and more streamlined gameplay? Sounds good, actually.
>and previous installment of another was disliked?
Not in Japan, also it sold pretty well, and wasn't that hated even across the Ocean. Definitely seen as an oddity among the others but its slowly accepted more. Some people seem to be waiting until Untold 2 in order to know if this just sucks, or if it was just the first one.
Etrian are some of the last classic wandering dungeon exploring games that are still decently hard, kind of like Strange Journey. Walk as far as you can each new time you get into the labyrinth, try not to die automatically against each new group of enemies as you try to figure them out, manage your supplies, grinding isn't needed but strategy is needed, gotta get good to survive. The game won't hand you much of anything, you've gotta take it for yourself typically.
They've given the player Picnic mode as of Untold 1, but if you're worth your shit you won't play in any easy mode here.
It's a game that won't let you beat it any time soon, you could be playing for a good solid 60 hours or more at least, which honestly isn't bad. It's hard fought the entire way, but worth it. You get your money worth this way. Exploring, surviving, fighting, and questing.
>There are people that aren't going to make a team entirely of Teaches in EOU2.
played the demo long time ago and i kind of liked it. what's the point of having cute characters if you can't even see them in the overworld or during battle sequences? this is literally the only reason why i don't play these types of games. i like seeing the characters
>tfw Teach has been in every EO games besides EO3
When will we be rid of this suffering?
Because imagination, someone could post that one image here.
You create the ideas, the characters, the personalities, etc in your mind for the most part. The portraits are there to give you a basis of what your character is to jumpstart your imagination towards the character, as you wonder what they would be thinking in that moment, what their response would be, etc.
The characters are in your mind, it's like a tabletop RPG like dungeons and other things, but with sprites.
I have it right here. Not all of us go full autism over this, but I sure do.
Gotta get good, this fight will test your skills at level with set limits, and see what you've learned.
Binds, poisons, fire reduction, items, gotta use everything to break this enemy down. Get the prince to join you in battle, have the dancer buffing your party all around and giving you fire reduction, bind the dragons arms so he can't attack as much, poison him for 700 damage per turn with your assassin.
I dunno, I beat this boss two or three days ago.
Then I beat the ice dragon, but not the thunder one yet. Always be reducing fire damage for now.
Yeah, I've only fought him once, but I tried binding his head and inflicting curse which worked until he was in the red zone. I'll try this approach, but damn if this series doesn't have the best boss fights in RPG's
Damn you're stupid, I guess you think that Dungeons in Dragons is also lazy stupid driven for not having graphix and story, and that Etrian needed more story and clearly defined everything laid out for you or else its shit.
They gave you what you wanted in Untold, people hated it. People liked creating their own story, characters, and going through dungeons in their own story more, which was the original intent of the creators, until bitches like this complained 'Buh, they're just stupid and lazy to do any actual work, this game is just lazy shit".
You aren't the audience if you don't get it.
Raising that assassin class or Hexer's poison throw to its utmost level, it can take down a lot of damage with each turn. Especially if you combine it with auto spread-throw, poison entire groups of enemies every turn, they all die at the end of the turn with by average 700 damage.
Keep some circles running, use Burst skills as well.
You see that mountain? You can fly over it.
I couldn't get into EO1 at all, or any of them the first time I tried them, until I tried EO4.
She's a lot more accessible, easier to get into, better skill tree flow. Then once I finished that I could do the other ones over, and I understood how they worked.
This one lets you slide into it a bit better, play the demo and see what you feel.
whats the appeal of this game? I have it and I just cant get motivated to play it. It seems ok, but im pretty sure I was getting ass raped by bosses or i couldnt figure out where to go. Seems like progression is veiled in that I need to know exactly what im doing with each of my characters when I make them.
Oh yeah; auto-throw activates at the start of each fight, use poison throw, and use shadow bite against the survivors. That's one of the most broken combos in the game.
Against even bosses this will tear through them slowly.
Makes some sense to me, thanks. I guess I'll try out the demo tomorrow then. When does the sale end?
>same shit ... but improvements
This sounds good. I really liked EOI in concept, but not in execution.
The music is still phenomenal
Tashi hat, they originated in Nepal I think
I'm hyped for EMD, it's got the best music from each game too.
Cherry Tree Bridge from 2:
Hoist the Sword with Pride in the Heart from 3:
Faith is my Pillar from 4:
>No one has thrown the EMD sample cd onto youtube yet.
We'll never see her again will we?
I'm sure Atlus will make EO4U eventually.
>Some people seem to be waiting until Untold 2 in order to know if this just sucks, or if it was just the first one.
he was talking about untold 2. its out in japan and it got shit on hard.
It'll happen, we'll buy it, and maybe it will be good.
I wouldn't mind an Untold version of each of them with an official party and sort of story, as long as the game is advanced enough to warrant it.
It's like, Devil Survivor and Devil Survivor Super Version. Untold versions are reason enough for me to finally have a chance to buy all the Etrian games now, and classic mode is there so I can always look forward to playing through it twice differently. Not sure which order I'll go with first each time.
>. its out in japan and it got shit on hard.
Oh, well maybe they need to learn to do this right already.
I'll still buy It I guess, since it comes with classic mode still, which is probably the definitive version.
>Hoist the Sword with Pride in the Heart
Best EO3 track.
There's pretty much no continuity between EO games. The most you get are small references.
It's not a bad game at all and fixes a lot of problems with the first game. In fact a lot of the negative reviews are 2ch trolls complain about the DLC over and over and over again. And of course some of that bullshit got spread here and every thread you can't go without seeing any of the following
>it bombed in Japan
>Fanfir is ridiculously OP and can one shot anything and everything through the game
>Balanced is complete fucked so classic mode sucks
>half of the maps are DLC
You can play without the others but the DS games are very good.
EO3 a best
If you like Etrian Odyssey I'd get Untold. If you haven't played one before get IV first.
I don't care how childish it is but story mode ruined that game, also Grimoires sucked.
And if I want to say something completely subjective, it lacked the soul of the original. Atmosphere sucked.
Oops, sorry I posted the wrong picture, here's who I really meant
we had a copycat
it was also the best character in the game
I'm glad I let Hypatia die if she was supposed to be EO3's Teach
Its for people who like first person dungeon crawlers and ATLUS games
your last words, right fucking now
Teach and Hypatia are fucking shit, Princess is my waifu, EO3 is the best EO game
Thank goodness, I thought we were going to have a problem.
Despite EOIV being a bit easier than the other games I think having multiple smaller dungeons was more enjoyable than what was done previously.
I bought EO Untold and I got bored of it pretty fast. I think I had reached the third floor of the first stratum.
Should I give it another go? I mostly stopped because I didn't know what the fuck I was doing.
Get gud, survive, moe girls, etc
It's like SMT Strange Journey, except with less Pokemon appeal. Move a few feet, try not to die, get better, die less. Each new fight against a new type of enemy, you might die in seconds if it goes badly, try to survive simulator and earn your victory exploring
of god what the fuck I downloaded the game now what the hell am I supposed to do
what classes are the best fuck
Just go with whatever you want, as long as it isn't completely stupid you'll be fine.
Pick whichever ones you want at first, get someone from each class, you have twenty-five slots. Make a character from each class you can see.
Try them out a bit, see which ones work out for you, try different ones early on until it works out.
It's a game where you find out about it through trial and going through in a sense.
Just get a Lankershageh the class at the top in your team, some long range types, front class types, etc. Balance them out.
>mfw when five dancers is actually one of the best parties late-game, even though it kinda sucks early and mid-game.
>early and mid-game
your post reeks of underage
I realized he was a man after I met the other npc
>Any team works fag
That's a lie. If your team is too defensive you won't be able to do real damage against bosses and they'll wear you out through attrition. Too offensive and you'll probably die to quickly. You have to strike a balance.
All cute lolis deserve their own sprite even if they only appear for a grand total of a single minute.
someone need to edit her hands to this
Just beat Untold 1. Goddamn that was fun.
TIME TO DO IT AGAIN FOR CLASSIC MODE
Can't wait for EOU2, and I love that it has 8 goddamn save slots. What a jump, from 1 to 8.
>Can't get into Untold
Not really sure as to why.
Did you try classic mode?
Also the overworld and subclassing in 4 was pretty sweet, grimoire stones don't compare. Personally I thought the main huge dungeon was great, though.
