Of course, you must be Einstein.
But yeah, before him no one would say OOT was bad. Until he says it and they willing agree.
>"Link to the past is how it's done!"
Ironically Jon's favourite is MM
It's literally a mechanically stripped down Dota ripoff with pay2win/pay2notgrind mechanics added, what is the appeal to it?
>Easy to get in to
>Huge E-Sports scene with "Plays" that make players think even they can be gods at it
>Xbawx hueg amounts of money and marketing pumped into it
>Completely Free To Play for casual players who just play a couple games a week
Comparatively, DotA 2 is hard to get into because it's far less readable and has more difficult core mechanics (Denying for instance, when to deny a turret, etc.). SMITE is third person over the shoulder, so less interesting to most, Heroes of the Storm is literally babby-moba.
LoL captured the casual audience perfectly by being just simple enough to keep them hooked, but deep enough to warrant an E-Sports scene.
You are literally 12 if you play this shitbox excuse for vidya.
That's funny. I was going to pick this.
Ocarina of Time is one of my favorite games but it's most certainly overrated to the heavens and back
I'm waiting for a 3D Zelda that doesn't necessarily re-invent the wheel but rather taps into the great ideas OoT had yet couldn't fully realize--namely the combat. It's kind of nuts how you could swing your sword in almost any direction and cancel out of movement options like rolls and side-hops with jump slashes. They just need to make a game with AI that's actually smart and challenging enough to where you'd actually, like, use that.
Also ditch Z-targeting for a more free flowing combat system that allows for more creative enemy placements of multiple baddies at once
but maybe that's more a personal preference than a gripe
It was released at a good time. DotA 1 had dropped in popularity, and Valve had yet to announce DotA 2, so as the only decent MOBA game on the market, it was easy for Riot to release LoL and make a profit.
Because making every other enemy except the one you're targeting freeze at a stand-still until you kill his buddy is really lame and neuters any potential for difficulty or creativity in enemy placement you
>DotA 1 had dropped in popularity
it really didn't, also the devs behind LoL (Guinsoo and Pendragon) were responsible for ripping ideas from Dota Allstars hero suggestion forums and then closing the website down only to leave a referral page to PVP.net, go type that link into your web browser and see where that leads you...
>really shitty balance: you either get completely fucking trounced or absolutely demolish the enemy there's no in between
>boring grind fest if you want to use different classes and abilities
>story starts off with a ton of promise then devolves into MUH ALMA
>uniques literally do nothing after their plot part is over (agrias is totally okay with losing the princess and says nothing else during the entire game unless she dies or leaves)
>easy to miss shit you can't go back and do
>tavern jobs/assignments are completely fucking useless
>game doesn't feel complete with abilities for single stages (what the fuck do you need lava walking for? one god damn stage that you never even have to land on?)
I like tactics games a lot but felt FFT fell short.
>every other enemy except the one you're targeting freeze at a stand-still until you kill his buddy
That has absolutely nothing to do with the targeting system you fucking idiot.
But LoL came out in 2009, many years after Dota.
Wow calm down dude
And yeah actually it does, you can even read in one of the Iwata asks for OoT 3D with Koizumi (lead 3D systems director) on how they specifically programmed fights like the Stalfos so that the game would register which one you were targeting and make the other ones do nothing until you killed it, as inspired by a traditional form of stageplay sword-fighting in Japan that I forget the name of right now
>they specifically programmed fights like the Stalfos so that the game would register which one you were targeting and make the other ones do nothing until you killed it
Wow. Amazing. You're saying they programmed AI differently because of the targeting system? So you mean that your problem with z targeting has nothing to do with z targeting and you just don't like the AI? Fucking kill yourself.
I know I was playing devil's advocate.
Point is some people believe MOBAs came from LoL originally and not dota.
They get past this by saying that just because it has a 2 doesn't mean it's the same thing.
Point is it's an ignorant argument because LoL came before Dota 2 and so they feel like they had originality.
It's pretty freaking good though.
Skyrim here on the other hand is quite an incredible feat.
It's an open-world action RPG and it's fucking terrible at both, being an action game and being an RPG.
Skyrim is shit at nearly everything aside from modability and the lore behind it and yet nearly every filthy normalpleb and even a good bunch of gaming veterans think it's the best thing since sliced bread.
King of the Hill Online is vastly overrated, next to Skoobs Online and Fesh Pince Online.
Ed Edd n Eddy Online is the new hotness.
>targeting can make a direct impact on enemy AI but that doesn't mean the targeting is involved in the AI
This is how I'm translating your post into a non-angry-neckbeard language, am I getting it close because honestly I don't speak whatever you're talking in
Whatever the case I have no idea what point you're trying to make or why you're even mad
OoT here on the other hand is quite an incredible feat.
It's an open-world action Adventure it's fucking terrible at both, being an action game and being an adventure .
OoT is shit at nearly everything aside from music and the lore behind it and yet nearly every filthy normalpleb and even a good bunch of gaming veterans think it's the best thing since sliced bread.
Guys, guys! It's an expert in the field of Medieval combat and folklore! Finally, we can get some insight from a professional who knows the source material used in games like Skyrim. Wait, what's that? Oh, you're not an expert in medieval combat and folklore? You're just a faggot who's mad because everyone likes a game that you have a hard time enjoying? Well, aren't you the ribeye steak of faggotry.
If veterans in the gaming industry as well as consolefags (and yes, even you PCucks) all agree that Skyrim was a notable creation in the RPG genre, maybe that should tell you that your opinion means fuck-all to the population that listens to those gamers when looking for their next vidya to play. Stop being so basic.
all those zelda fanatics right now
Yeah, it's not as if we have been talking about its shortcomings for almost freaking 4 years now.
Pick a game and chances are I'll think it's overrated. Not being a hipster or anything, I just don't feel like there's really ever been a game that's been so great that everyone should line up to suck the creator's dick.
The ONLINE part of the game not the main game its so fucking buggy and you can barely connect to a server and the heist made it worse because you can only play with 4 people and if one of them lose connection it ends the game and yet people keep praising it left and right of how good it is but again this is just my own personal opinion
>probably gonna get alot of hate for this
He's saying your objection with how they programmed their AI to respond to their implementation of Z-targeting is not an inherent aspect of Z-targeting and is therefore not a valid criticism of Z-targeting in general.
