Disagreed, that's my favorite part of Mass Effect. Ilos in particular is amazing because it focuses on that plot point and delivers it with an ethereal sort of elegance missing from the rest of the series.

In spite of how much they stripped away the RPG elements, Mass Effect 2 was still a good game. Because after Mass Effect 2 came DA2, TOR, ME3, DA3, all shitshows that in their betrayal of the fanbases retroactively demonstrate that in spite of its flaws ME2 was a pretty good game after all.

ME 1 was tough to stomach, especially the controls and slow gameplay. I'd say it was worth the playthrough though.
