Who's the best demon and why is it Kinmamon?
I'm noticing that these threads have been popping up a lot lately. Any reason for it? Not that I'm against it since as of lately I've been playing lots of SMT games, but man there have been like a couple dozen threads within the last couple days. Or is it just me?
It's cancelled isn't it.... I can feel it
I assumed because Persona 5.
Currently playing through the original SMT, SMTIV, Persona 3 and Persona Q. Just kinda rotating through each one as I feel like it.
Also are instakill attacks useless in SMT1? I fused a Samael but its M Effect stat seems too low to reliably use its two instakill attacks.
can you guys draw a smt character over pic related?
Ame no uzume, bro.
Also wind magatama if you haven't already.
Get a Hua Po, level her once or twice until she learns Rakukaja and then spam it durIng the fight.
Don't forget to bring Uzume to negate turns whenever he uses his force attack.
GG no re
Atlus never gives progress updates on any of their games regularly.
At least we know from last year that it's on schedule and development is going as planned.
Still I'm curious, is it SMT gameplay with FE characters and will there be all the demons?
Most important things for mainline SMT games: Buffs, debuffs, weaknesses. Make sure you resist the element the boss throws at you, have not one demon in your party that is weak to it. Also, buff and debuff the shit out of yourself and the enemy. Then you should be fine.
You can get it at the Junk shop in Ginza Underpass.
I'd argue that you'd better use the physical resist magatama in combination with the force negating Uzume, but that's up to preference. Still, don't forget the Hua Po for Rakukaja
I'm hoping it's FE tactics with SMT abilities
It'd make for some deep gameplay, or at least some really fun gameplay
>hear this series is really good
>hear Nocturne is the fan favourite
>start it up and selct "Hard" cause I think JRPGS are babby games
This shit is sweet as hell.
>thinks JRPGs are baby games
Almost more so than any other JRPG out there, Nocturne has a notorious reputation for being brutal and unforgiving. You're fucked.
Uzume is recommended because she has Media to heal your team up when he starts spamming Andalucia.
Sure, if she has the buff you want why not. Maybe a better choice since I believe she has more HP, but Hua Po is more common since she's easily acquired.
Play around with it and find your own solution, that's half the fun
>Get friend in to SMT4
>He's enjoying it for a while
>Stops chatting about it
>Ask him how he's getting on
>"Man fuck this game, it's a grind fest"
>Ask him to show me his file
>Flynn is level 35, all points in Gun
>Party consists of low level demons leveled to like 25, Gryphon and Pixie are 2 of them
>Check compendium, no fusing being done
>Paused outside Hall of the Minotaur
Nintendo was going to shitcan the franchise if Awakening didn't sell well, and Awakening came out only nine months before SMTxFE was announced. So the game has basically only been in development SINCE it was announced. You don't want a game that was rushed out in a year, do you? SMT4 took them like four years to make.
>Almost more so than any other JRPG out there, Nocturne has a notorious reputation for being brutal and unforgiving
It's not THAT bad, they give you tons of save points and turnabout is fair play so 90% of the broken skills enemies use can also be used by you.
Probably better that he stops now.
The Overworld of Tokyo is going to piss him off something serious and if that doesn't do him in, King Kenji is going to wall him so hard it'll stand as a testament to his arrogance for the next millennium.
Who needs demons when you can have Walter?
I hope you gave him a push in the right direction.
I'm expecting something similar to Devil Survivor personally.
LEVEL 35!? HOLY SHIT
You should teach him the power of fusion, debuffing and weakness though, Minotaur can be easily beat with a lv 12 mc if all the party has bufu
Unless Walter sides with you
A mix of devil survivor and fire emblem would be neat. But the crossover is so bizzare it's difficult to guess how it's going to work. It's a good thing SMT has expanded into pretty much all RPG subgenres because I can't see FE adjusting to non-SRPG mechanics very well.
Haven't been there since before /vg/.
Is PHG still there?
>mfw lvl19, party is Nekomata, Uzume, Nozumi
>all resist or absorb zan
>doing well while he uses only mazan, attack, dekaja and red capote
>all of a sudden enrage and andalucia
>entire party is wiped out in 1 turn and he gets 3 criticals on me
The fuck? Are there any Demons you can get at 19 or 20 that have dekaja?
I'm not sure how they're going to do it, if they do choose to do it.
I've always liked them on handheld, and the dual screen shit on the DS/3DS is just top tier for immersion and gameplay. You know what puts me off JRPGs on console? Fucking repeated animations for every goddamn attack. I hated it in Persona 4 and I hated it in Nocturne, I hope they keep it on handheld, but with 3D exploration like SMTIV
Unclench your sphincter and join in on the fun, faggot.
This baller right here has a tendency to fucking anti-guidefags in the asshole without lube.
LEVEL 35!? HOLY SHIT
You should teach him the power of fusion, debuffing and weakness though, Minotaur can be easily beat with a lv 12 mc if all the party has bufu
Unless Walter sides with you
It's better if you have if you have the resist phys magatama and anther demon who can take Andalucia. Since Matador uses Mazan, you only need 1 demon who nulls/drains to make his turn go to waste.
Also Rakukaja yourself
PHG left a long time ago and now mostly shitposts on /m/.
I personally haven't been in SMTG in probably a year either though.
>3 is a great game
Can we please stop this meme? It's okay, but calling it the best SMT game is pretty insulting to the entire meta series. Now that SMT4 is here it's in an awkward place where it's not as good for beginners but not good enough to warrant immediate playing.
Just my thoughts
Nah, in fact, it's probably best that you do. It's arguably the weakest in the entire franchise but it does a pretty good job of introducing you to some fundamental SMT concepts: mainly, to aim for press turns and to USE BUFFS OH GOD USE THEM PLEASE.
>play SMT4 without knowing about the Minotaur
>somehow I fused a party that all had bufu skills
>completely stomp Minotaur
There probably will be fusion, but I think human fusions would be too bizarre. Much like the giant yellow head, human fusion is stuck in the past and with Jimenez.
I'd be stoked if there was on-field demon/soldier negotiation dependent on affinity/alignment.
i recently finished DDS 1 and thought it was pretty neato. im currently just outside the EGG place in DDS 2 and am currently wondering what i should play next. ive played persona 3 and 4 before but always ended up running out of steam.
i was thinking maybe strange journey or SMT IV? Recommendations are welcome.
It's not really the same because it's an SRPG, but a lot of the core mechanics like fusion are in it so it's not a waste to start there. Also has one of the best story lines in the series. I started with the vanilla version on DS so overclocked should be fine. IV is good too though.
Rakukaja buffs defense, Sukukaja buffs hit/dodge
If you liked DDS's battle system, try Nocturne. If you want something different, try Strange Journey.
Also, before you leave the Airport in DDS2, fight the bonus boss archangels if you want to.
Play the Raidou games. They're a lot of fun and they usually get overlooked.
whats the point of doing that? also, whats the upgrade/skill learning system in noctourne like? that was probably my favourite aspect of dds.
and thankyou for replying.
argilla is best girl
Overclocked starts out very slow, so I don't blame you. It starts to really get into motion I believe around day 2-3. How far are you into it? If you already fought beldr and don't like it I'd go for SMTIV
You can ingest different Magatama's that you learn set skills from and also set your resists and weaknesses.
But you can only have 8 and if you get rid of a skill you can't learn it again.
You get a manta, but I never used it. If you like bonus challenges give them a shot, though.
In Nocturne, you learn skills by equipping Magatama. These magatama give stat bonuses and resistances/weaknesses also. If you forget a skill you can't relearn it.
Demons learn skills by level-up, and you can pass skills to new demons via fusion.
Make sure you're using the skill crack and setting skills on your people.
I played up the Beldr fight without realizing I could get and set skills on people and stopped playing for weeks when I couldn't beat him.
>Kaneko will never design SMT waifus again
You're still more or less in tutorial land. And since you have to save her a bunch of other times I'm guessing it's the first time you see her and she's getting cornered right?
That one is a tough fight, but you're still right at the begging. If the fight is giving you trouble I'd suggest getting a demon of the wilder family for the 7 movement bonus or a demon with animal leg as a racial skill for move again after battle. It's one of the few roadblocks in the game
Chaos is funnest, Law is best
Thanks for the info guys. ill definitely check out nocturne if i can get my hands on it. maybe raidou as well
How coincidental, the credits of nocturne are alt tabbed on my emu right at this moment. Gonna go back a few hours and finish amala for TDE. Just pissed that I'll have to remake my entire endgame party for a single ability, pierce of course
all their skills are full, except daisoujou. I saved before putting his two final skills. Maybe I could just use demifiend for attacks and the rest for pure support, however there's also curse protection. I had trouble with chiaki and her fly attack, I'm guessing I'm gonna have trouble with beelzebub too
Based Daisoujo. He never left my party.
You can still take him with just Demi-Fiend, it'll just take a little longer.
He's not too tough, but it feels like the battle goes on forever.
So what's the deal with DDS and Devil Summoner? Are both of them 1 full game each, split in half or are the respective parts full games with sequels (new plot, refined gameplay/graphics etc) ?
People said Record Breaker was cancelled because there was barely any news on it.
Walters a demon in his manga.
Except all he does is kill demons and doesn't show any world of STR bullshit. He even leads Yuriko to a pathetic death when she tries to kill him.
Digimon is the SMT: Devil Children of anime.
Angel is slave. She don't want emancipation.
I understand where they are coming from because some people do act like it has the greatest characters and story, which is a tad ridiculous.
Still love it though.
How cheap can I get a PS2 these days?
My only computer is a semi-shitty thinkpad and I really want to play Nocturne.
Also, why is Beelzebub so based?
From the like, single interview I saw about the game, Atlus(who is the main dev) said they wanted it to be like a standard JRPG. Also set in Tokyo.
So it sounds like they basically want to make SMT with FE characters or something.
>know all the memes before playing Nocturne
>get Matador on my first try because I already spam sukunda first turn
>know Daisoujo uses hama a lot
>make a party that is completely filled with everyone being immune to light (and weak to dark)
That quote's from a Nintendo producer
>Speaking with the Hobby Consolas magazine, Hitoshi Yamagami (Xenoblade, Pandora’s Tower, Fire Emblem: Awakening) shared, “For a long time, I’ve wanted to create a Fire Emblem in our times, in the real world. Imagine a Pegasus that comes from the sky and lands on Building 109 of Shibuya, Tokyo. I always thought that would be incredible.”
>“At the same time, I know it’s hard because of how Fire Emblem is. I visited many companies to express these ideas. When I went to Atlus, I was told that Shin Megami Tensei together with Fire Emblem is what I wanted. So, I soon said that to Intelligent Systems and started this very special collaboration.”
>Yamagami added, “Oops! I shouldn’t say that the game takes place in the real world. We haven’t announced it, right?”
Pretty near the end of SMT 1 now. It's a great little game, especially for its time. And the soundtrack is baller
Thing is, now I've played 1, Nocturne, and IV of the main series. My personal ranking is
Keep in mind SMT so far is definitely my favorite JRPG series, and all these games I've played are better than most other in my opinion.
I just don't get why people shit on IV saying it's "easily the worst in the series"
Yeah it had some questionable design decisions, but it was a really well made game, and comparing it objectively with games like SMT 1, it's way better. SMT 1 has a super limited fusion system, a broken battle system, and an obnoxious map.
I loved the hell out of SMT 1, but I can't honestly say it was better than IV.
>tl;dr I think people insisting IV is the worst apparently haven't played every game in the series
>I just don't get why people shit on IV saying it's "easily the worst in the series"
I'm convinced they're people who've played only Nocturne and/or SJ. Especially since they usually cite IV being "easiest in the series" when that really isn't the case. Also the only hard SMT is your first SMT.
Maybe you guys'll appreciate my SMTxFE OC...
To this day I still don't know how everyone got so caught up on Matador. Daisoujou was 10x worse in a guideless run of that fucking game. Nigger tanked and took my shit like he was some sort of end boss.
>no reveléatons: persona
>no persona: innocent slut
>no persona: eternal carpet munching
>no majin tensei
>no Demikids dark edition
>no devil summoner
>no devil summoner: aspect raidou versus yaoi hell
>no autism survivor
>no autism survivor 2 ballon tits boogaloo
>no megami tensei
It's most complaints about the dungeons or lack of Kaneko, which to be fair aren't unreasonable complaints. I loved how a lot of the dungeons were seamlessly integrated into the overworld, it's the only SMT game that's really given me a sense of exploration and, but when you enter dungeons like Kagome Tower and Lucifer Palace thinking, "ahh yeah, time to crawl some motherfucking dungeons" and they come off as blatantly unfinished, it sucks.
I wish Doi redrew all the new demon art at least, he's a better artist than most of the guest artists and it'd be a consistent style.
For me it was Ongyo-ki
>woah that guy so hard
>I build this team, just for ongyo-ki
>don't even attempt that cave until you get to lvl 60
Meanwhile Kin-ki fucked me in the ass like five times until I remade my entire team, and Ongyo-ki died on my first try, without me even knowing the trick
I'm waiting on a translation before I play If..., so I'll have to take your word on it, but so far I haven't had troubles with any MegaTen game since I learned the basic mechanics.
Totally agree with you here. Like I said, IV definitely had it's faults.
Smirk and lack of Vit, few "real" dungeons, etc.
But damn I get disappointed looking at the cover art, seeing those horrendous demons actually looking cool.
If one thing can be said about the game, it gave me hope that Doi is actually pretty capable.
>I'm waiting on a translation before I play If...
>tower of kagutsuchi aww yea time for final dungeon crawling goodness
>5 hours to finish not counting bossess
>don't even need to say it
The one thing about I and II that I noticed is that I really couldn't fully appreciate these stellar designs in-game.
God Heroine is a qt
I was bored one afternoon and decided to make things for SMTxFE while I talked about what I wanted for it with a friend.
I don't need demon/human fusion. Just give me special weapon fusion and I'm fucking happy.
I like his art style and the character designs for IV were good, it just remains to be seen how he is in the demon design department.
Who knows what Kaneko's up to, I honestly wouldn't be shocked if he was working with the Persona team to render the new 3D demon models accurately. Hashino did mention it was a lot of work
>not doing Chaos first, then fusing lvl99 demons for the other two endings
>not just copying a few codes for some baby demons who reflect everything and auto-combat her in five turns
>it just remains to be seen how he is in the demon design department.
It's canon that the Demi-Fiend fucks Lilim regularly, right?
>being a casual
not him but beating mem aleph by myself with a non cheesing party that I created and going neutral the first time gave me a massive ego boost after not being able to beat lucifer in IV on normal and not using buffs the entire game, and getting through half the game with reflecting skills
>I'm too lazy to grind for only 6 hours
Yeah I don't think Kaneko's creativity can be beat. I'd be interested to see Doi do original designs. But as far as pure drawing skill goes his redraws of other demon designs were pretty great.
Doi only did characters, not the new demons
And to Doi's credit that samurai outfit is slick as hell.
Does anyone else purposefully try to make their ultimate team all loli-ish demons? Currently working on a Pixie, Nadia, Alice team in SMTIV for my hard playthrough. Alice is easy to make awesome but the other two even with the best skills are just barely passable. It's worth it though.
There goes 80% of the game
I like that design. I respect SMTs ability to reform the looks of major demons in each game. We didnt need another loli satan, and something about his design in IV screams foreign hostile demon, which is pretty neat. looks a lot better in his second form too but you didnt post that since you could shit post
>I respect SMTs ability to reform the looks of major demons in each game
>Looks a lot better in his second design too.
Not really. Both are awful in my humble opinion. And I'm not that guy that posted it.
Also Lucifer isn't Satan.
Also Lucifer has never been a loli, nor has Satan for that matter.
That's just a bad design, it's not fearsome in any way, and it's not really based on anything either, which is something I love about the usual demon designs in SMT, like Kushinada being based on a comb because of her backstory
Actually the main problem I run into aside from the poor inates is their HP / MP growth as low level demons don't scale well and end up less than an equal level demon caught at a higher level (controlling for MP/HP types) Actual raw stats are insane because of all the stat bonus apps but they all die in one hit and it's impossible to cover ALL the elements on them so I need to have enduring soul on each of them as well as MP surge and ideally HP surge.
I fucking love how IV embraced the series' horror roots again, all the spooky songs spread throughout culminating in Lucifer's final form theme just being the Silent Hill 1 final boss theme
More of the same really, but it's a bit more refined
DEMONS AND HUMANS ALIKE, JOIN TO WATCH THE STRONGEST FIGHT EACH OTHER
>first time playing nocturne
>my party is carried by nekomata and some flying slut that heals everybody with media, been keeping worthless angel around because she will eventually get good
and then i learned that weakness counts as crit and doubles turn. and that dancing pink frog with masks are actually decent
That's cool. I like the first well enough and the story is bretty cool, so I'll probably go ahead and play the second one.
My main complaint with DDS is that the dungeons seem to go on forever, with no change in environment or monster variety.
>My reason is that I'm a jobber
>My reason is that I'm on my period
His classmates are such shit
I SAVE YOUR ASS FROM PRISON T W I C E AND YOU ARE LIKE "OH NEVERMIND YOU WERE LATE" FUCK YOU ISAMU YOU FAGGOT HIPSTER SACK OF SHIT
Hey guys is using passwords cheating?
I mean it's right there, anyone got any passwords for SJ?
It's just that one of the crewmen became a monster and he's kicking my butt.
Also, met this creepy as fuck grey angel guy
Pretty sure he's a bad guy even though he has white stuff
>pretty sure he's the bad guy
No anon, he isn't. He's the good guy.
Can't advance, me and my party get wiped.
I have Pixie, Sudama and Ubu. Also this is my SMT, I haven't picked up the game in months, but then I realized there's passwords in the game, maybe that'll help?
Just look at him, he screams hey guys you can totally trust me
He's probably like a fallen angel or something
I'm not going to lie - I probably overrate SMTI because it was my very first SMT game.
That said, though, I like SMT for its dungeon crawling, and IV was severely lacking in that regard.
No, y'see the thing is, in smt you dont have to be a "fallen angel" to be a jew. law doesn't mean good, and chaos doesn't mean bad
law means dictatorship, chaos means darwinism, and neutral means present society
To be honest I dont even understand what people like about nocturne. story and atmosphere sucks, its in 3d but the graphics are dogshit.
so what the fuck is it. dont even say gameplay because IV has nearly the same yet you also say that game is worse
I didn't think the story was anything special. All SMT games are preachy to some degree, but SJ really went overboard with its environmentalism bent.
Are you letting their loyalty drop? Stop making them use moves that they dislike. Learn the different personality types and figure out which moves they like. Most of them are fairly simple - wild ones like physical attacks, kind ones like to heal, dumb ones just hate being ordered around. Once their loyalty reaches a certain point, they'll pretty much be willing to die for you. Use sake if needed.
let's not kid ourselves, the rock songs are fucking terrible.
the only song I really liked was this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncEmAJYA13U
I hate how they ruin the other songs with terrible J rock
I'm on the 5th world in Strange Journey.
Its my first SMT game.
Which game should I play next?
I really like this grid base exploration type stuff.
You don't mean Raidou, do you?
The guy at the very back is Nakajima, the protagonist of Megami Tensei/Digital Devil Story.
why you axin baby
you want my head on a plate like all the others who have a vague recollection of my existence
Nocturne music, while edgy, is pretty great
Not saying SJ is bad, but not he same caliber
SJ fusion wins by default for having a better special fusion system and because of the core system
I have been, then I made the mistake of finally buying Golden
The game has been out for 7 years now, plenty of time to replay it
That's why I enjoy it
artificial friends are better than real ones
I hate you personafags so much. thanks to you and your waifufaggism Persona has basically become the new SMT mainline.
I like SMT because it avoids doing so many things that make me dislike JRPGs, like waifushit, weeb bait, boring settings, shonen clichees, disgusting jpop ost etc.
now you sad and lonely fucks came in and stick money up atlus' ass because you get your virgin fix with persona
don't know how people find the ending to persona 4 sad. seeing everyone run along the side of the train is fucking hilarious tbh
play persona 3 if you want depressing
That's why I enjoy it
artificial friends are better than real ones
this is exactly what I meant. why did atlus have to pander to you low-life retards? fuck you
When every single thread is filled with "Lel muh matador xD ATMOSPHERE!!!" shite, with one or two guys disagreeing, yeah I'd say that one is definitely much worse than the other. Just look at this thread, for example
that's a spinoff that has takes place between 3 and 4, has no bearing on the plot of either, has none of the waifu business that anon hates and uses EO dungeon design and row system. Might as well complain about SMT x Fire Emblem replacing mainline SMT
What makes you think the new SMT game wouldn't be another 3DS game? Atlus is the master of reusing their assets anon.
>being mad at all and not developing apathy for further installments in the MegaTen series as a whole because of all the disappointments since 2011/12
>implying I ain't skin and bones
For a spinoff, Persona Q is really good. SMT IV, while not as enjoyable as the previous two in my opinion, is still a dang ass fine game.
Consider they're remaking the demon models for Persona 5, I'd expect an announcement for PS4 or PS3 soonish.
Coincidentally, this is pretty much what Japan says about Raidou vs. Devil Summoner.
Wait, people from 2ch think that Sumio is part of the SMT world as well?
Suda hasn't made a Kill the Past entry since K7 (which in itself was a split outcome) but that sounds crazy
I don't even know where to start really commenting on this there's too much to go over
>thanks to pathetic persona virgins atlus has committed resources to P4G/P4A/P4U/PQ/P4DA instead of bringing another mainline game to ps3.
thanks to pathetic persona virgins atlus isn't exclusively making F2P mobile games
or do you seriously think atlus had a $100 million budget set aside for SMT IV on PS3 they blew on Persona spinoffs instead
I'm not referring to that post specifically, I just think it's funny to note that Raidou gets the exact same complaints that Persona does. Or did back when the first game came out.
I don't know shit about K7, but the theory itself is pretty interesting, and there are enough similarities between Sumio and Kyouji that I feel like it's probably more than just a coincidence.
Strange journey actually runs off the EO2 Engine, so if you don't mind having no demons, play Etrian Odyssey, It's a great series entirely built around the map exploration.
But if you want more SMT, go for soul hackers
Well Sumio is a spirtual being and has "been" several characters, including Garcian from Killer 7
Sumio from Flower, Sun & Rain carried around a briefcase at all times, as did Garcian (for different reasons)
Edo, the hotel manager, makes an appearance in K7 for a brief moment, and references that he "remembers" Garcian, alluding to that he is Sumio at least in some part
Does Kyoji Kuzunoha have any sort of baggage or specific trait that would make him similar to Sumio?
>Does Kyoji Kuzunoha have any sort of baggage or specific trait that would make him similar to Sumio?
Kyouji's the descendant of a group of Chinese summoners who could control demons without COMPs, create artificial demons, and make pacts with powerful gods/goddesses and use their powers.
He refuses to die and just hops from body to body, taking on a new identity each time. The Raidou novel seems to sort of hint at there only ever being one Kyouji, meaning that he's just been hopping from body to body for centuries. In Devil Summoner, he's sort of the protagonist and sort of not - his soul accompanies the protagonists' and are technically in one body.
So they're kind of similar in that they've both been several characters, I guess?
The themes are very similar, but I can't imagine Suda and whoever wrote DS somehow got together and decided to intertwine worlds
Still, now I'm really interested in playing Devil Summoner just so I can see how good this theory really is
I like Nocturne the most, I also like 4 and SJ though. So maybe I'm not irrational enough to answer your question.
Story isn't that important in Nocturne, but story isn't really important in any SMT.
Atmosphere is fucking great dunno why you would think that, and it has some of the best visuals the PS2 offered. The real key is that has really solid gameplay, it's one of the more central SMTs, it has press turn like IV, but it has actual dungeons like SJ. Both SJ and IV excel in their respective areas, but lack in the others. Nocturne is a middle ground that is solid all around.
I'm not answering a shit poll with no Aspect Raidou.
IV demon designs were done by like 5 different people. And even then it was only like 20 demons.
How do people still not know this.
The vast majority of the 400 demons in SMT IV were just SMT II sprites though that Kaneko did.
My big problem with 4 was that too many of the demons were similar. I like that there were so many, but when you get to Tokyo you run into another group of starting enemies with basically the same skills and it feels like a waste of space. That and stats and stat growth became almost a non-issue with apps. Also learning every spell made the MC the most broken fucker around, and I think you should be limited for what skills demons can inherit (like things weak to ice not being able to inherit ice skills) to give demons more individuality.
There is more than IV.
But having just played through SMT I there isn't really that much dungeon crawling in that either.
SJ is the only one I've played that's actually been focused on dungeon crawling.
Half of the "dungeons" in I are glorified cities.
And Nocturne had the luxury of having actual gimmicks to do in dungeons. The entire labyrinth of amala is way more complex than nearly any dungeon in I.
I j-just ordered my first SMT, smt iv on 3ds. W-what am i in for /v/?
He is the best. Seriously.
IV has the most spells as well as demons. For the most part all the demons have the same spells they've always had. They're actually on average more individual than they have been in older games. It's just that there's more.
Have fun. It's a fun game, go into it with an open mind. Never put points into strength.
Sure there are lots of them, but selecting their skills just makes them less individual. Part of the appeal of SMT is that these demons are legendary figures with their own history that their skills and weaknesses should play into. When a Jack Frost can learn agi easily it just makes what the demons actually are worthless, they might as well have random numbers for names because it's all about min-maxing every one of them.
Why the fuck are you stuttering you autistic weeb faggot
an unfortunate side effect of the way these games are structured is that the very beginning can often be one of the most difficult parts of the game
it actually gets significantly easier after the first couple of bosses
>They're actually on average more individual than they have been in older games.
They're really not. In the older games, there was some limit to which skills a demon could inherit. In Nocturne, you had to reroll to get the skills you wanted (which was bad and I'm glad they did away with that), but each demon also had skills that they had absolutely no chance of ever inheriting if those skills made no sense for them to have. For example, clawless demons can't inherit moves that are related to claws; demons without eyes can't inherit moves that are related to eyes. In SH, each demon had an "affinity" for certain skills and a priority list, meaning they would always inherit the skills that they are the most compatible with.
SMTIV's fusion system allowed for a lot more flexibility, but the results were that each demon was a lot less unique.
Don't put points into STR.
I see what you mean. I personally am just glad they revamped the system from Nocturne. But I agree that it's almost too free form at this point. It's an unfortunate trend that's been around since Persona 4, where basically every persona would automatically learn a skill that canceled their own weaknesses every single time. Then they added in the free demon trading skills and all hell broke loose.
Until you get some decent demons, like past the first or second dungeon, SMT is pretty difficult. After you get fusing or get some higher leveled demons you'll be cursing right along.
mastery isn't really the issue though. it's having limited resources and options
i've played a ton of SMT games and am generally really good at them but I was dying often in naraku
I meant that it was possible to individualize demon's more. But you're right I wish they didn't just let loose the flood gates and give you entire control.
It was easier than ever in IV to have a dedicated healer/buffer demon and they didn't need to be daisobro
That place has been dead to me ever since they got their own dedicated shitposters.
Sometimes I remember the good times and miss it a little, but then I actually visit and see them throwing fits over completely off-topic garbage.
Pretty much yeah.
Also stats don't actually cap at 200, it's just the limit that they show.
But Basically every skill is worth except STR.
But if you wanna go mag, then ignore dex and vice versa.
Luck is actually useful as well.
OH SHIT NIGGA IT'S POST-YOUR-FAVORITE-SMT-THEME TIME
Reposting my SMT2 questions from the General since it moves slower than Isamu's world:
How do I know if I'm underleveled or not?
In the Coliseum right now, heading to fight the Anti-Messiah, and fighting Beetlegeuse clowns is pretty much guaranteed death.
Chris the Car is also terrifying to me.
Level 20 at the moment, Beth is 25.
Is money going to become easier to come by?
If not, will it get easier/cheaper to revive my Demons?
>tfw didn't know you could fuse pascal so completely missed him
I hate myself.
HAhaha holy I read that as favorite smt meme lol.
I'm just starting SMT 2, but there were a few times in SMT 1 where I would just check the level of a boss I was at online to see how I was doing. I don't really know of any way to see otherwise, other than analyzing demons you random encounter then trying to be a level or two above them.
That's what I read it as, too. Didn't realize what it actually said until people started posting songs.
Step it up
See, I just took your advice and went to go Analyze that Beetlegeuse guy thats been giving me hell, and it just says No Data.
My assumption is that this is because I have not fought him upto this save point, but if I were to fight him, I'm gonna die.
Nice game dotards.
After playing through SMT I for the first time, I was so blown away by the music. It's so god damn good for a SNES game.
The only downfall is that SMT 1 doesn't have nearly the amount of music any other game has. But it's all great.
Yeah think you gotta beat the enemies to get their data. Just beat up on some other demons. All their levels are going to be similar in the same area. But if you're struggling with him it looks like you're underleveled regardless. Fuse some demon's and level up a bit. Have you been skipping random encounters?
Let's also not forget one of the best
