I own 5, but a couple are with my my poorfag friends. I just won them at tournaments anyway.

I'm just a pad player. I grew up on pads, yo. It doesn't help that I started on Melee.

People complain about doing kara cancels on pad but honestly I have an easier time doing it with one thumb on a pad than with many fingers on a stick. I really think it just depends on how you grew up.

If it's at all like the HRAPs before it, you peel off the label on top and beneath there is a metal plate with 6 screws attaching it to the housing. You can buy plexi to co on top of that.

The issue is the concept of a beginner stick is retarded because even a low quality stick costs a bit of money to buy.
Best advice is find a single console TE for cheap somewhere, either during a sale(madcatz runs sales during tournaments they sponsor) or buying second hand from someone local.
Or somehow finding a cheap SE/Brawlstick due to ease of modding but those models are pretty much dead.

Q4 takes up too much space to be placed on the desk constantly, so I just use Hori Mini 3 when playing casually since it's always placed on my desk for portability

as a pad player I'll tell you both the xbone and ps4 pads are garbage. get a logitech 310 or a ps3 or ps1 pad and break in the d-pad on them until they are butter.

don't get six button pads and make sure you have 4 shoulder buttons, preferably the triggers not being triggers.

ps4 is shit because it's buttom heavy and you have less dexterity in the upper portion of your hand, the d-pad is also too large and when combined it slows down your inputs. xbone is bearly usable even with the new pad. design of d-pad just isn't ergonomic for fighting games.

It's probably something wrong with either your stick or your USB port. The Q1 uses Xinput which is why it works natively with Windows and Xbox 360. It should just work automatically assuming you're using Vista or newer.

I don't like SF4, but I also know SF4 is pretty much the only decent game with other players new to fighting games. Oh yeah absolutely, it would be great to give a general idea of the control scheme, but not the hardware obviously. I think you don't even have to remove any keys, just map up to the space bar and the rest of the buttons more or less in the same position. In both the hitbox and the keyboard you almost don't move your hands, certainly not enough to lose sense of where the keys/buttons are.

You can get many pads with a pretty good d-pad.
And using these d-pad takes much less effort and you can do inputs much faster.

The only thing where fight sticks shine is the button layout, since you easily can do various combinations there and even special techniques like button drumming.

However, when it comes to movement controls, I would say a good d-pad is actually better, since it takes much more effort to control your character with a stick than with a d-pad, which makes you become easily to slow in your movements.
