What do you guys think about this project?
Man, i dont usually like spaceship-themed games too much but this seems super cool and fun to explore

They also got a fantastic logo design
>>
i'm expecting little, but if they can deliver on the premise of infinite consequenceless space and planet exploration, i'm down.
>>
No Man's Spore.

The baked on HUD really proves the game is nothing but walking around.
>>
>project
The project is really the marketing campaign
The game will inevitably be mediocre and shallow
>>
I doubt they can deliver on their huge promises. So far no developer for the PS4 or any console has, and this is an indie team too so the chances are even less.
>>
>>285202825
It's not that unthinkable to create that with procedural generation though. infinite procedural worlds have already been created many times, for example - minecraft. though the developer said No Man Sky wont be actually infinite, but it will be so big you wont be able to explore all of it in your life time

>>285202939
Spore isn't a sci-fi shooter game anon

>>285203207
Gee why are you so pessimistic?
>>
>>285203427
Neither is No Man's Sky.

No gamefootage that has ever been shown has ever had the HUD react to the player.

Shit's baked on.

Comedy gold OP.

Because I knew about this game long before you did and thought it was shit then.

It's still shit.

No?

Okay. so dont judge it yet.

At this point it just looks like theres not going to be anything but exploration, which will probably consist of the same ~6 basic animals on each slightly similar world, with 10-20 set pieces to explore, but ultimately forget about because they'll be uninteresting caves or abandon buildings. Unless theres something other to do than fly around 3d Starbound, I think I'll pass
>>
>>285207974
As far as animals go, you're going to see purely bizarre creatures from the procedural generation. They took thousands of animal models, and then the program mixed them and made millions of different species. Basically every planet will be unique, and after seeing the difference in just 5 dog/cat species, I believe it.
>>
>>285208419
they are going to have hundreds and hundreds of different parts, but they're all going on the same six different shaped mr potato heads for each planet. a green hippo with four legs on one world and a blue hippo with eight legs on another is not the same
>>
Its just minecraft without actually interacting with the environments in any way.
>>
>>285208419
#broyousoundlikeashill
>>
>>285209121
You can destroy the environment, according to the dev
>>
"Procedural Generation!" on the surface of planets will likely be lame.

The only thing that might be cool is having a bunch of cool ships and engaging space flight/combat.

>>285208889
This are some generated variations from just one one model from no man sky.

Considering there are going to be alot of models, we can safely assume there will be alot of variety in the wildlife
>>
They can make the money if they just release it already. Every casual I know wants to get this game but they better release it soon or else everyone will forget about it, shit happens all the time.
Speaking as a /v/Irgun though this game sounds too good to be true, running on a console there is no way this could work. It will probably be a mine craft mod.
>>
>>285202703
I think you need to stop shilling for it every day.
>>
>>285210037
Except procedural generation this is a widly diffrent game than minecraft.

No Man sky is a sci-fi shooter with no user-created content, and user created content is like, the main focus in minecraft
>>
>>285209656
If that image is supposed to be a presentation of their variety, it's not good at all. The amount of body parts reused in those twenty "different" creatures is terrible.
There are only four different leg models.
Three different body models.
Three different tails.
The heads have some more variety, seven or so (very minor differences, likely more about size-scaled features), but there are still many repeats.
And then some accessory-like details on the head, back or tail of a few of them.

Who gives a damn about discovering species of animals? Where are the ships? I want to see procedurally generated starfighters and dreadnaughts and corvettes and gunships.
>>
I'm looking forward to it, but a chunk of /v/ shit on it for no reason. Spore left deep scars I guess.

As long as there's no release date I really don't give a fuck about the lack of infos given.

The generation works more like with "sliders" rather than having actual several options to choose from, that's at least what i understood from their explanation. those 20 creatures look diffrent enough to me, considering it's just one model out of many

Pic related is various generated spaceships

My only issue is that they haven't shown what you can do in the game outside of traveling.
Can you form armadas of shits and wreck havoc?
Is there a crafting system?
What is combat on the ground like?
Is there even ground combat?
I have the strangest feeling that we are going to see very little of this and by the time it is out people are going to flock over it because of the hype in the same way the flocked over Destiny.
>>
>>285217124
What about Dreadnought?
>>
Spore is my favorite game of 2008.
>>
>>285219516
Not like Spore? It's the space stage in first person. Complete with procedural generation of animals and environments, random missions, asynchronous multiplayer, an enigmatic race of galactic belligerents, and a goal to travel to the center of the galaxy where resistance is strongest.

Get your head out of your ass already.
>>
Honestly if it just delivers a comfy, big space experience where you just explore and shit then I will be happy

I'm very skeptical that it'll actually be as good as they claim, though. I'm not saying indie studios can't do amazing things, but I am saying that they're claiming this is going to be a self-creating universe, essentially, and i don't think they'll be able to pull it off.

I don't remember there being any multiplayer at all in spore. The focus of the game is different than spore because spore was about creating. Probably most people spent most of their time creating things. That's not going to take up any time for NMS players. All the stuff you said about precedural generation was pointless because of course they are two procedural generated games. Does that mean any game with a procedural generated environment is like spore?
>>
Looks like it will be pretty boring for a video game
>>
It's turning into the most overhyped interactive screen saver.
>>
>>285202703

>>
At first, I was hyped as fuck.

Then more trailers came out, and they showed almost nothing new.

And time passed.

And still almost nothing new. And I began to be worried that what little we've seen is the whole game.

And then I bought Elite Dangerous and I no longer give a shit.
>>
>>285202703
I'll have fun watching it crash and burn trying to deliver on everything it promises to bring, so I guess that counts as hype. It's not even a matter of not liking the developers, NO ONE could pull this off.
>>
>>285221681
You're being intentionally obtuse. Spore's multiplayer is seeing the species, ships, and empires others made as you explore the galaxy. NMS's multiplayer is seeing who first discovered x planet/species/landmark first. Same basic asynchronous multiplayer mechanic.

you don't know anything about the game, at least watch the trailers and some talks about it. You can play with everyone else. Of course multiplayer isn't the focus of the game (which is obvious since you don't even know it exists) but it's definitely there.
