Zinogre is easy as shit, I know they don't expect you to kill it because they don't even mention it when you do but it's an easy monster.

Tigrex on the other hand was broken, it can kill you in one hit in rage mode if you are wearing that shitty armor and most of your attacks will bounce off so there's no point in fighting that guy yet.

CB is really, really strong (like MHF1 Lance and MHFU HBG tier) if you know how to use guard points but most new players don't know shit about the weapon and they are still useful because the weapon has good damage output.

I think people hate new CB players because they are very disruptive and they spam the double swipe (it trips players) instead of using GP and punishing the monsters with discharges.

A few things get me about the CB.

First, it has everything and doesn't have any downsides.
It has both good raw and elemental damage without consuming sharpness at a crazy rate.
It has amazing KO with impact phials while also being a cutting weapon.
it has a SnS like shield, while also having a lance like guard with a charged shield.
It has guard points which can also KO.
I has decent mobility unsheathed in both modes.

At no cost.
Other than having to use it a bunch to learn it.
And that just annoys me.

The other reason is that a lot not all CB users are doing the same thing that old LS users were guilty of.
Gluing themselves to the head and never leaving or considering others can attack it as well.

Hey, not sure if you need this tip but this saved me a fuckton with pink rathian. He's really the first HR roadblock and a pretty good gear check.

You know when he goes into rage mode? You need to get out stat. He always goes for that tail flip to poison and if you're underneath whacking away at him you'll stunned by the roar, then the wing buffet, then you get hit by a raged tail flip.

Even if you're not underneath him I have NEVER seen it do anything else besides that so once it roars circle it to bait out the tail.

You can be carried through the online ranks, and village quests are pretty well trivialized by upper rank armors/weapons, allowing you to trade hits and just heal through the damage.

You also have the option to craft armor sets the can go a LONG way to trivializing specific monsters. Wind res (L) and earplugs can make los a bit of a joke, either will give you a ton of new openings. Sure, you still need to play, but the overwhelming majority of content can be turned into a joke with 4 people and smart gear.

That sort of time investment might not seem accurate for a casual game, but grinding is very much a casual practice.

MH is as casual as you have a group that is willing to make it.

How far in are you?

If you're starting Low Rank, Pecospander's a good choice. If you're a little further in, then the Rathalos switchaxe with Ceanataur helm+gloves, gore body+waist, alloy greaves and three grinder gems.

Picking based on power phials is all well and good, but do not neglect to upgrade to higher raw axes that may have other phial types just to keep hold of a power phial. Obviously the one with the higher raw will have a superior axe mode regardless of element phial, but we want to compare sword modes.

Let's do a comparison here with two make-believe switch axes.

SA1: 561 raw, power phial.
SA2: 676 raw, element phial.

Divide the raw values by 4.6.

SA1: 122 raw
SA2: 147 raw

Now, you take the power phial one, and multiply it by 1.2x to get the raw that'll be applied to its moves in sword mode.

SA1: 146.4

In this case, you take SA2 regardless of being an element phial. Even if sword mode on SA1 after power phial amounted to 150, 155, or even 160 you'd probably still want SA2, since if they're the same element, the element phial one is likely to have more element (especially in sword mode) and thus be capable of making up the difference in raw. Also, you have to keep in mind that these raw values are typically reduced by a buttload before being applied to the monster, thus closing the cap even further. Then there's the fact that axe mode on SA2 would be stronger still than axe mode on SA1, and proper usage of the weapon necessitates not neglecting axe mode.

If they're close in raw before power phial, like SA1 went down to 145 or somesuch, then you'd definitely want to take that one as axe mode would be only marginally worse but sword mode would be way stronger.

Not really. Large monsters just have multiple carving zones, with slightly different carve pools I believe, but I may be wrong about that.

Basically you can carve roughly 6+ times from Dahren Mohran, but if you only stick to one of the hitzones you'll only get like 3-4.

Im HR20, and stuck on the Ukanlos urgent, which pretty much EVERYONE above HR7 seems to be doing and only one person gets credit for it each time.
I host my own hall and no one joins, its fucking stupid that theyre still using this broken system where, even if i was playing with 3 friends, we would need to do the same quest 4 times in a row to carry on progression

That doesn't split the head and body carves for Jhen Mohran. Inside Mouth is when it's flopped over on its side but not dead yet - you can run into its mouth and either attack for a short bit for massive damage or carve it for a chance at scales and dragongems. The body carves come in two 4x sections - body and head.

Ceadeus doesn't have multiple body carves. The horns are more akin to having two tails.

I liked them. They were relaxing. I actually especially loved Ceadeus as a relaxing hunt.

Honestly all they had to do was give vertical dodges i-frames, make swimming and dodging faster in general, and make weapons with distance-closing moves go even further than normal, then not make everything attack slow as balls. Bam, fixed.

Any glaive users? I started using it after 200+ battles with my Lance. The weapon is so fun to use and it's so flashy. I love the self buff and kinsect mechanics it has going on.
