The PS4 and Xbone are packing hardware that was incredibly outdated on its release, and every passing year they're getting left behind at an almost hilarious rate. And despite this fact people continue to say 30fps is better than 60, the human eye can't register 1080p, and every other similar statement to avoid addressing the elephant in the room.

And the best part? At the start of the gen everyone and their mother were hyping the PS4 and Xbone as tremendous graphical powerhouses that could blow a six-million dollar PC out of the water, the "perfect PC". Then it went to "well consoles will optimize better as time goes on", now it's "graphics don't matter" despite them apparently mattering very much at E3.

Let me tell you why this is complete bullshit.

Microsoft and Sony spend literally hundreads of thousands of $’s putting technology in to each and every Xbox and PS. Because they know what equipment they are using is the best technology available in todays market that will work in a machine without blowing up or over-heating too quick.

Where-as with a PC, you’d have to go out and buy a new graphics card just to enhance graphics. You think that’ll improve the game when in fact I’tll make your game shit. The reason the game has that style of graphics is because that’s the best it’ll run at. If you try and improve the graphics on the game, it’ll be too much data for the game to hold, and therefore it’ll make the game run slower than before and worse for your time playing it. Which means the money you’ve spent on the graphics card was a complete waste of time.

Xbox One and PS4 have got the everything it needs to make sure the games you play, will be the best way to play them. I seriously can’t understand how anyone can think PC’s are better than consoles.

Honestly Ive never had a single problems with any game I've ever bought on PC.

Ive beaten games famous for gamebreaking glitches with no patches installed.

I have literally never had those issues that you speak of.
Pirated games or games that are more than 15 years old, then yeah, I usually spend an hour or so getting them to work.

I spent about $1000 building my PC. I can run every game I've tried 60+ fps with all setting on ultra. I get every single player game I want for free and get the games I have to purchase for really good deals on steam. DVI, Display Port, and HDMI are all digital. DisplayPort and HDMI have built-in audio. The newest standard specs for both allow 4K 60fps video, though adoption of the spec on TVs is taking a while.

Pretty much every PC graphics card comes with at least one DisplayPort (or mini DP) and one HDMI, so I can hook up a PC to a TV just as easily as I can hook up a console. Just throw a wireless keyboard/mouse combo and a PS4 controller or Xbox wireless controller adapter into the mix and you suddenly have controller controls for most games. Not just make Steam start automatically on Windows and you've got a gaming box hooked up to your TV. Add a shortcut to Kodi (XBMC) to Steam and you now have a media playback and gaming center, set up much better than any console, hooked up to your TV.

I feel sorry for you if you bought a PS4 expecting this. If you go look at the hardware, these next gen consoles are basically designed for linear corridor shooters and the best case scenario is that these shooters get slightly shinier over 8 years.

If they cared about doing anything ground breaking outside of a small area of graphics then they wouldn't have used a 1.6ghz laptop processor from 2011 in the consoles. You may not be totally dead wrong but I predict it'll be about a mid-range overall bad emulator, some would say, in between 1 and 2 years, with the increased number of people interested in the project. They've really got the major steps in place for a lot of games, it'll just take a little while to iron out a few modes.

A lot of people have the wrong idea of what it'll be like. I think, in two years, you'll see this.

You'll see a PS3 emulator that can run PS3 games as they ran natively without error, that's extremely CPU heavy and won't be playable unless you've got BARE MINIMUM an i7 4770k, maybe? Maybe newer, it's impossible to say, but you probably won't reliably enjoy the benefits of emulation over consoles at that point technically speaking, and it'll probably lag your computer hard.

I just wish we'd all come together and iron out the PS1's shaky models already. It's not impossible just time consuming and complex, maybe needing to be done on a case by case basis, unless we can come up with a complicated filtering trick? I don't know, so many problems arise, but I thought we'd have this totally licked by now.

Anon, you're mislead. Building a PC is almost like building a Lego set. It's so easy to do, and no one is saying you have to buy a $2000 computer.

Any pc these days can plug right into your television. I have a friend you uses a PC for living room, it replaced his cable/satellite, bluray player, and console. It was so cheap for him and his family that it was a much better investment than going with the alternative.

Only reason right now to not go PC is console exclusives, but the good console exclusives are so far and few between that buying a console this generation isn't worth it. Only games I feel like I'm missing out on Persona 5 and Bloodborne, but that's honestly it.

1st - You can't buy a pc as good as consoles for $300-$500, you just can't. The main difference is that console games are just greatly optimized to work with console's APU. So yes while these consoles have shitty hardware and your rig looks better on the paper games on consoles will perform much better, even on this shitty SoC design that will probably fuck up after few years.

2nd: Not only this but games on pc are terribly unoptimized, people with 970 gtx/290x aren't able to max games on pc, when you mean "1080p/60 fps ultra gaming) you actually mean msaa set to x2 and disabling shit like physx. I'm mustard myself but you can forget about playing anything newer on 60 fps/1080p without spending at least $1000.

Your company is even renowned for this shit after your last game. You're taking advantage of today's modern hardware to deliver a huge open world masterpiece. Because we live in fucking 2015, now.

Then a guy in a suit tells you it's not going to run on this dusty box using gear from ten years ago. No shit, you say, look at our minimum requirements. But that won't do, the dumb masses who still own consoles want to play this, and they want it to look nice too, just like the PC version!

Well that's going to be fucking difficult. So you've got two options:
>A. Throw your motivations in the garbage and make everything look and play like wet ass so that it can run well on consoles. Fuck your primary platform and goals in the name of parity.

i honestly think it will depending on what antialiasing you're using. i'm willing to use an alternative AA if i can get everything else maxed out at a decent framerate. witcher 2 maxed out at 1440p runs at 60 fps so i think witcher 3 is going to be manageable.
i'm still really hoping new cards will be released before witcher 3 comes out, we're like exactly 3 months away.
