Does /v/ like pinball?
I fucking love pinball but i haven't found a single table in my area in years.
>>284256752
Perhaps you could get a loan and buy one?
Dead medium but is still fun none the less.
favorite table right here
>>284256620
Nothing beats Space Cadet 3D Pinball.
Yup. RIP...
>>284256620
Wait are physical pinball tables considered vidya?
>>284256845
But they're still making new tables...
>>284256620
what games/programs are the first two
i know the third is pinballfx 2
yeah i like pinball but only in that ill play vidya or hit up a table at a bar for a couple rounds
>they will never make a new one
>>284257070
They're allowed on /vr/
And pinball vidya exists...
>>284257087
First one is Pinball Arcade (Attack from Mars)
Second is Pro Pinball: Timeshock
Local arcade has some really good tables. The Walking Dead, The Next Generation, Addam's Family and this beauty, my favourite.
If you knock the ball into the top left you can activate a minigame where you have to skip rope with it, top right has a punching bag mini game. It's a lot of fun, and the announcer is really charming.
>>284256620
Love them, I play them in real life and play the williams collection rather frequently.
My mom loves pinball. More than any other kind of video game.
Think I inherited it from her.
>>284256620
Fuck yeah, pinball is the best. My grandparents have one in their garage. Used to play that shit for hours when we would visit during the holidays.
>>284257552
What table was it?
no, it sucks
>>284256620
Fuck yeah. When I have time I love going down to the pinball museum here in Vegas.
best music for a pinball table coming through.
I like them, but I kinda wish the "fantasy" ones would take it even further and adhere less to typical table shape and mechanics.
Like, I want more multi-stage tables like you'd see in Kirby's Pinball or Gator Pinball on the Gameboy, especially Kirby since Kirby had bosses and small brick-breaking segments I think as well. Basically if you're going to go unrealistic go all the way.
>>284257214
i stayed up literally all night with this other kid playing this at a sleepover birthday party once. everyone else was asleep and we were just silently passing the gameboy back and forth. that shit was tight
Any pinball games worth getting on Steam?
Fuck yes.
Black Knight best table
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fCKDvjVzpNQ
>SEGA made pinball machines from 94 - 99
>Never made a Sonic table
They had one fucking job!
>>284257823
Pinball arcade are all real tables. Wait for a sale though the prices are so fucking jewish. I believe one table is free for a demo.
>go to E3 2014
>there's fucking Telltale Walking Dead pinball setups
>"Welp, it's fucking pinball alright."
>get to a section where you have to FPS shoot zombies in scope view
>you're using a controller, but they expect you to use the same flipper controls to aim and X to shoot
>"Hey, why do these controls suck ass and make no sense?"
>"It's because we want you to constantly be using the same controls so you don't have to relearn anything!"
I had to stop myself from laughing in his face.
>tfw pinball machines were your early gateway to vidya
Shame they cost a fuck load of money, love to own some
>>284257842
YOU GOT THE POWER (HAHAHAHA)
YOU GOT THE MIGHT (NO WAY)
GET READY FOR BATTLE (GIVE ME YOUR MONEY!)
BEAT THE BLACK KNIGHT
WOOOAOAOOAAAAAOOOAAAAAAOOOAAAAAAAAOOAAAAAAAAAAAH
>>284257823
pinball arcade is on steam, but they're kinda jewy about table prices.
Is there such thing as a bad pinball game?
>>284257823
Pinball Arcade and Pinball FX2
That's it
>>284257939
It's okay though because we got this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m64iK733ZNk
>>284257991
Fucking Jews
>>284257823
There's only PinballFX and Pinball Arcade, isn't there? PinballFX falls into the fantasy category of OP's picture, tables can be hit or miss. Pinball Arcade is a safe bet since it's based on real tables.
>>284256886
That one is really good.
Theres a place down near Long Beach Island that has one of the biggest collection of pinball machines in america.
Its fuckin amazing, its ~5 dollars for as long as you want and its right across from a bar. Its on the board walk too.
This is making me want to play 3D Space Cadet pinball...
>>284258042
yes. tables made by Gottlieb are pretty much all shit.
Are there any good vidya-based pinball tables?
Virtual Pinball is one of my favorite genres. Unfortunately, most games now are just trying to recreate real life pinball perfectly. While that's fine (Xen Pinball is great) I would rather we got Pinball games that try to do unique things that real pinball tables can't. Such as Kirby's Pinball Land, Sonic Spinball and other older games were attempting.
I feel like Virtual Pinball could be something all its own. Instead of just a simulation of real pinball.
I'd also like a sequel or remake of this please.
>>284258313
Nah, just pinball-based vidya.
Like Pinball of the Dead or Metroid Prime Pinball.
>that feel when you play a pinball machine from the early 80s or late 70s and it's pretty much older than you are
I don't know why, but it feels kind of humbling playing something like that. Like, this machine is a testament to the longstanding appeal of a medium, and you just kind of wonder how many people played it before you.
>>284258042
Video game: Pinbot on NES
Real life: Gottlieb tables
>>284258313
I don't know about 'good', but I know there were 2 pacman and 2 mario tables
Who else played this shit?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzPpRPDRQvA
>>284257596
This isn't the one in their garage, but it's the same type.
>>284258472
goin' nuts is interesting.
Of course the prospect of releasing a table that wasn't completely fucking boring caused Gottlieb to self-destruct.
How's Zen Pinball?
how much does a lack of pressure-sensitivity take away from pinball? that's my main concern about playing pinball on PC beyond the windows game
>>284258789
mediocre but not terrible. Pinball arcade are still the best.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkBk56tf8E0 anybody else have this game?
Probably the best virtual pinball game ever, with Kirby's Pinball Land a close 2nd
>>284258701
Not bad
I liked the Twilight Zone one.
Cuz it played the Golden Earring song.
>>284258784
Goin' Nuts (and Strikes 'n Spares) are indeed the only ones I enjoy. Aces High and Tee'd off make me want to break things. The place I use to work at had Tee'd Off playable in the lobby for just 25 cents. And even then I got so annoyed with it I never wanted to play it. The ramps and score system is just so fucking horrible.
>>284256886
I would kill for one of those
>>284256620
I got 6 million score from that pinball game that came with Windows XP one time.
>>284258870
Not a whole lot, as only something like 3 tables had pressure sensitive flipper buttons.
virtual plungers do take a bit of getting used to, though. But they feel pretty natural after about a minute.
>>284259042
golden earing tried to sue bally for royalties. bally told them to fuck off and trounced them in court.
I miss the 90s.
>>284256886
Jesus Christ. My nostalgia. I have no clue how much cash I put into that game when they had it at the ice rink I played at.
Shit was fun as fuck.
I get a hard on every time I play this table.
Anyone?
My father in law has one in his basement. I spent way too much time on it, even though it's not the best.
>>284260279
No, but I remember the Sonic and NiGHTS mini games in Sonic Adventure.
I was a killer atSpace Cadet
I've only ever gotten to play on an actual pinball table once or twice in my life, though. I wish I owned one but it'd probably cost an arm and a leg.
>>284261220
well, a new Stern Pro is 6k
Any of you ever play this? Thing is huge.
>>284261220
Do you live in the US? Are you in a red state? If not, are you in or near a place favored by hipsters?
Check out all the dive bars you can. You're guaranteed to find a Terminator 2 or Fish Tales somewhere.
>>284261603
>6k
My favorite Pinball table is actually a table I can't remember the name of. I just know it was based on that old 1980s girl boobarella.
I initially played it as a kid because, you know, boobs. And it was only a quarter when everything else was double the price. But when I kept playing it, I found it had a lot of trick potential and I could play it for 30-60 minutes without getting a game over.
Wish I could find that game again...
>pro pinball timeshock
i still have it
>>284257071
Which we never see anywhere.
I'd love for my pub to have one but it'll probably get vandalised by fuckheads or complained about by old people because of the noise.
>>284261850
What are you poor?
>>284261981
You mean Elvira?
>>284256620
I can play it for quite awhile on actual machines.
The digital version never really does it for me though.
>>284260273
Mah niggah.
That table pretty much introduced me into manhood.
>>284262254
Yes! That's it. Now I know the pinball table. Thanks.
Devil's Crush
Alien Crush
Dragon's Fury
all amazing
>>284262254
>>284262748
You know there's two Elvira tables, right?
Would you play a pinball machine based on_GTA_?
>>284263590
kill yourself and yes
>>284263590
Only if it's set inVice City
>>284263821
also this
>>284263590
yes, specifically GTA2
>>284256620
Real life pinball rapes your eyes with color, is super-noisy, and it always feels like something is going to break when the ball smashes all over the place. What's not to like? Virtual pinball isn't as good. I did play a lot of Pinball (the original one on the NES that didn't have a fancy title yet), Revenge of the Gator, and Pokémon Pinball as a kid, though. Pokémon Pinball was the best.
>>284263018
Did not know it. But the one I posted was the one I played back in the day.
Pokemon Pinball and Sonic Spinball were the best Pinball games I've played. I never liked the real machines though.
>>284264238
>But the one I posted was the one I played back in the day.
I guess that's the main thing, I suppose
>>284263590
Are pinball machines allowed to have profanity?
>>284256620
I do, my dad got me into them. I heard that maintenance is a bitch to upkeep on a real table.
>>284264678
Yeah. The South Park one was fun.
>>284264678
The Metallica one is very foul mouthed
There's normally a setting to turn off the profanity or other non-family friendly elements anyway
>>284258284
>Dissing the company that made Black Hole
