I killed a Conga in an expedition with a GS and SnS in similar times, SnS loses out in straight DPS races but that's only really on static and immobile targets, monsters tend not to be static or immobile, so SnS' versatility comes into play, it's a great weapon and some of the fastest kill times are with it.
I'm looking to make a new one, Gravios' SnS hopefully.

Is MH4U slower than MH3U? I've been playing 4 for a while now, and it seems to be way chunkier and slower than 3. I've noticed that both the hammer and longsword are visibly slower, along with using potions feeling a lot slower.

You should probably ditch that armor. The health bonus and defense boost can be gotten from potions and armordrugs. It's a waste of an armor skill to have those.

So I have just beaten my first brachy and infected brachy right after (village quests) and I've never hunted him before, as I've not played MH3U only MHp3rd when it comes to third gen. I didn't know what the fuck I was doing and I just tanked and spanked it through. Spirit combo and your X+A (the one that makes you dodge?) I think trips people, and even then Spirit combo from at least previous experience won't trip all the time. I've had times where I did a full combo on someone who was charging a hammer and they were fine. Regardless, I'd still be aware of others. If you're that worried, focus on just using the vertical swings.

Brachy is an asshole in general, given that he constantly moves and tries to slime you. Roll to get slime off of yourself, otherwise the next hit you take will do 2/3x damage. As for tactics, chopping his tail off lets you hug his ass fairly easily, and I'd highly recommend evasion skills so you can stay under him to slap his shit.

Also, be sure to avoid him when he shoves his horn in the ground. If he runs forward and rams into the ground, he's gonna send an explosion path in front of him. If he just stands still and jams it in, get the fuck away from him, as the area is gonna explode.

Nargacuga, Volvidon, Stygian Zinogre, Barioth and a few others.

You should also check your talismans to see if you have one with around +4 or more to evasion and you might be able to just gem the skill in to your favorite armor set.

For SnS the armor skills are pretty general. Anything that boosts your attack is good like Sharpness +1, elemental/status bonuses, etc.. Maybe Speed Setup so you can do some fancy pants bomb combos. And Evasion is great as I said earlier.

And I don't know when you get to solo a high rank Gore Magala. I've been occupied with online.

Indeed. People do not seem to realize that every attack by every weapon trips other people. There are obvious ones like Super Pounds, CB/SA discharge or eve the end of the standard SnS Combo that are very strong in that regard. But also every single swing of HH trips, every attack of LBG trips, every attack by GS trips.
The important part is having a weapon out, that offers super armor. This means that it doesn't get interrupted by the small shit. Not even LS spam.
For example HH have this almost everytime. They play a note -> don't care about trips. Play a full song -> don't care etc. Almost every single weapon type is immune while attacking, just the unlucky SoBs that play GL/Lance don't have this (until recently). These are actually the people who started the LS hate meme that is so blatantly repeated by everyone and their mother. It's like people don't even test this shit out themselves anymore, you just have to preach bullshit long enough and it's suddenly a fact. Dem sheeple man..

If he's swinging his sword at the head of the monster, he's tripping the hammer trying to set up a nice unsheathing golfswing or is walking to reposition a knockout triple combo.

you can't go wrong, all are good in their own regards. There are multiple (optional) training missions at the beginning of the game where you can try ou each and every weapon type, no strings attached. I highly, highly recommened these for beginners as they explain the basic combos and you get a good feeling for the wepaon.

The only thing I really wouldn't recommend to a total newcomer are ranged weapons because of high maintenance and for optimal damage output you have to be somewhat close to monsters and that can prove fatal for beginners when they wear the weaker ranged armors

Bombing is a cheesing technique. It isn't actually necessary, SnS has great dps if you keep the pressure on.

When you think about it that way then Charge Blade, Insect Glaive, SwitcH Axe, Longsword and Hunting Horn are the only weapons in this game that require something more than just swing and jump away.

Charge Blade (as broken and nooby as it is) seems to be the most advanced weapon in the game mechanic-wise.

Man I really wish they could rework these old weapons into something a little bit more exciting.

It's easily the best Monster Hunter yet. It has the most content, eases new players in better than the older games, and gets rid of those tedious as fuck underwater battles. It's also gives you the most options for dealing with monsters and makes things slightly more challenging at higher ranks.

Should I get the Red Pincer greatsword? I just made it into High Rank and it looks pretty good. 816 Damage and Blue Sharpness, as well as +20 Defence, but who needs that?

How do I into bowgun? I'm in HR and I have no gunner armor so i'm running around in low rank trying to figure this shit out. Is it more efficient to rapidspam your nocharge or to charge up to level 3 every time?

99% of the time you're going to want to charge your bow. learn to use the extra features of the the bow, too, the second shot or the arrow rain.

Can someone please explain the whole nectar thing for the Kinsect's? I gave it fire nectar and now it does fire damage, but I don't understand anything beyond that, or if I should have given it fire nectar in the first place.
