pro transporter is what you want. Do the first shitty fucking egg quest and you should get some steel eggs, use those to make a couple pieces of Loc Lac. 2 should get you to +9 transporter and one gem should get it to 11. Remember to eat food for felyne lander and supercat.

Lagombi seems a lot harder in 4U than it did in 3U, though. Personally, I've gotten its new attack patterns down well enough for it to no longer be much of a threat, but my first Lagombi fight in 4U was a bit embarrassing.

In terms of difficulty, how is first time Gore vs first time Shagaru?
The other low rank Elder Dragons that I've fought in this series have been pieces of cake but I'm kind of scared because Gore tore my face off the first time I met him.

Nigga, just do the offline quest with the break feelers sub. Break it's tail and carve it. If you don't get a tail, just restart. If you do, keep slappin him until he goes into frenzy. Once he does, mount him and that should be enough break it, letting you end via subquest. The tail should come off in 2 or so minutes on swaxe

I haven't died in an online quest yet. Evade Lance is really, really good at ejecting themselves out of sticky situations.
But when I fuck up and get hit with an attack, any attack at all I feel like the entire group is judging me. Even when other people are also getting hit hard or even dying.

How do I git gud with the Hunting Horn? I want to expand my playstyle outside of Hammer, but everytime I play HH, I feel like I'm not moving at all. I try to do the X+A slam, but it goes backwards instead. What are the combos?

your most damaging attacks are your songs themselves, with the bonus that you don't waste time refreshing buffs if you land them. They will fuck you over hard if you're not greatsword-level psychic so you gotta git gud. Evasion skills help a LOT.

Aight /v/ how the FUCK do I get gucci with dual blades? Just fought a high rank cephadrome and I feel it would have taken much less time with an IG. It just feels like the length 10 hit attack animations make it less agile than something like a switch axe, which is one hit then you can roll or whatever. Also, any go to combo I should be using?

Maybe play White White.

There's no real combos. Any move can chain into just about any other.

X will swing from left to right when idle, or slam down when moving forward. Repeatedly tapping it will cycle between the two.

A will swing from right to left (and quite high, to boot) when idle, or when holding forward will do a two swing attack (you can dodge cancel before the second) where pressing another button before the second swing will cause it to play that note. Again, repeatedly tapping A will cycle between the two.

X+A will swing up and over your head and behind you, and will do a weaker superpound at will by holding forward. Again, will cycle. In terms of single hit damage, the X+As have probably got it the best there but they've also got significant wind up and odd placement.

The trick to using Hunting Horn is trick shots where you swing just from off to the side to smash the monster in the face from an angle they can't react at.

Recitals, particularly encores, also do a shit tonne of damage.

Basically it's an opportunist's weapon.

What's with the hate on Charge Blade anyway? It, Gunlance and Sword&Shield are the only weapons I felt any comfortable with using in the weapon trial quests and Charge Blade just felt like it had most of the pros of SnS but with way better damage. Gunlance feels a bit too slow for my taste even if it's kinda nice.

Charge Blade has wide reach on many of its more damaging attacks and combos, and so can trip up other players easily.

Also, SnS and Charge Blade are pretty much nothing alike in playstyle or pros/cons. SnS has superior mobility, strike speed, and doesn't need to enter another mode to reach maximum potential. There's also that it can fucking backhop, and also use items with the weapon unsheathed which is way more useful than it might initially sound, especially since it's pretty much the only weapon that can give you super armour during item usage.

Holy shit this game looks good on N3DS, the tracking 3D is pretty fucking phenomenal too, I just wish americlaps weren't stuck with the the XL so I could have some proper pixel density.

No, but I believe Seltas armour has you covered there. Razor Sharp + Artillery. Can't make the full set 'til the ass set of low rank, but you can drop some Artillery gems into the five slots available on Ceanataur armour.

You'll need Sunspire jewels and 10 ice crystals for five. You don't really gain access to the ice area until just over halfway through village low rank, but I believe if you're lucky you can trade caravan points for 'em to the Wycoon if you watch his inventory.

Actually CB is fine in groups, it's just the fact 50% of people online are using it.

Also it's complete unbalanced cheese. Even though I don't like it, I'll still admit it's a disgustingly good weapon even if you don't know what you're doing. Once you into guard points and knowing how to unload your phials properly (which isn't hard) it becomes god-mode.

In fact, the most significant change I can find, aside from the Switch Axe, is that Greatsword dropped the multipliers on its charge attacks in favour of just straight motion values. Instead of 100x1.3 for Standard LV3, it's just 110.

The only real way I could see what you're saying as being applicable is if overall, the true raw values on weapons don't go as high as they used to, but that's not the case - in fact, values on heavy weapons go up into fucking 1600s with great fucking sharpness and either good, or extremely negligibly bad affinity.

Math, son. Take a weapon's true raw, and then do the proper damage output math, then apply it to a monster and see how many times it'll it take that particular attack to kill it.

Those "minor numerical changes" are pretty fucking significant. The overhead chop is 87% as strong as it used to be, and upswing a little bit less, but even diluted with a move in the middle there's still going to be a noticeable different in hunt times.

The rebalancing of sword mode moves made sense, since it was dumb that one combo was used completely over the other. Doublecut on the other hand made sword mode way stronger overall, whereas before they'd achieved a nice balance in 3U where you could almost use either form equally. I mean, I still do, but there's that part of me now that's nagging me for not just doing side slash doublecut repeat for maximum damage output at all times.
