Name a better sword.
It may be a piece of shit but goddamn does it look sexy. dat ornate sheath
>mfw I just parry retards who spam R1
Your toothpick doesn't mean shit to me, fucboi.
>Using that piece of shit sword
Demons great machete you fucking pleb
This fucking thing whenever it comes out.
>Not literally two shotting people one shot the lower hp and def builds
SLB on those fuckers with 50 str you could get 800 damage pre swing. On a side note if you don't want a huge state investment do what this anon says >>283843187 28 42 build leo ring halberd can counter poke 660s.
Can you people be anymore generic? Do you also equip a fedora?
I finished Dark Souls 1 today for the first time.
It was kind of hard but then I got the black knight halberd and absolutely wrecked everything when I fully upgraded it. I enjoyed fighting Gwyn, a very clean final fight, no bullshit, sorta sad also with the music.
And holy fuck did I miss half the game or something? I even looked up shit now and then even tho I tried to metagame but I never fucking fought Astorias or got into the painting, didn't get that sweet ring that makes you into a acrobat either.
And not that butterfly faggot suck dicking sword
>Not being the fedora warrior
>Not using chester trench coat with the chaos blade on a skinny pale white long hair male
I like the rapid bleed buildup. Especially running a lightning katana.
I'm just not a fan of the poke-heavy moveset of swords and rapiers, and I've never gotten the draw of Scythes.
who needs a sword when you can have one of these?
OH BOY I FINALLY GET TO POST THIS
>no mention of pube pounding swaghander
The game was on sale recently, probably just new players.
If you play on PC, which region are you set to? As soon as I finally built a great co-op character GFWL went away and I haven't gotten shit for summons.
>Get into argument with friend over this saying no big weapons can hit him
>Clip his feet as he gets done with his feet with smoughs hammer for 968 damage then hit him again for over 700+ to kill him
Artorias is a DLC boss fight. You have to have bought the DLC to fight him (totally worth it though.)
To get into the painted world you need the Peculiar Doll which you get from going back to the very start of the game. Honestly, getting back there is kind of retarded so feel free to use a guide.
I'm willing to bet you also missed out on The Great Hollow and Ash Lake.
You should know that Black Knight weapons kind of destroy the game on NG, especially the Halberd. You may want to avoid them in the future. They also scale like shit in NG+ so they're really only good for NG.
you may call me a crawling in my skin fedora edgelord, but damn dat damage+toxin (+shit scalling) made me love this sword,
all hail to spooky papa nito
Not to mention you can get it as soon as you leave the asylum. I'm honestly surprised that it has a better reputation than the drake sword, because it's the true ezmode cheese weapon.
>has full havel's
>nearly maxed out your HP bar
>at least 50 str if you're carrying that thing
>NOT EVEN A MAXED OUT ESTUS FLASK
What the fuck anon, what the living fuck
>get the asylum demon's hammer
>get to sen's funhouse
>some giants fag with a buckler
>just spams parries anytime he gets in range
>takes six fucking tries before he hits a single parry
>takes 33 fucking damage when missing parries
Well, at least invasions do exist in 1.
It's retardedly good and you can get it immediately if you're willing to die a bunch of times. It's my go-to if the Black Knight Sword didn't drop at the Burg. Thank you Papa Nito.
>I'm willing to bet you also missed out on The Great Hollow and Ash Lake.
I actually didn't, hiding another illusionary wall behind the chest was clever as fuck. But I hit that shit thinking "wouldn't it be funny if there was another illusionary wall right here?"
What you most definitely missed on your first playthrough:
>the DLC(artorias, manus, kalameet)
>most of the forest
>most character quests, the triggers are annoying
>the asylum revisit
I hope you killed all of the NPCs before you fought Gwyn. Sin doesn't transfer to new games, so you can get some cool shit.
Also you can get your ass kicked by Andre the blacksmith.
Not yet, I'm planing on doing a bascinet or a sallet with some spare metal I have left back at home.
Go meet some people. I didn't had any friends until two months ago, and now I go regularly to a lake in my town to practice.
Don't care how fucking meta, overpowered, or whatever the fuck, the Claymore was the best looking normal weapon, had a godly move set, and had decent stats for either STR, DEX, or quality.
Fucked up so many back-stabbing niggas using the two-handed R1->R2 combo. They never see dat R2 coming and few stack the poise to take it.
all these people with these fancy prancy shit weapons
yes they are good, but this is not a competitive game, I don't have to minmax weapon choice
a nice zweihander faceplant is all that's required to beat just about anything
God tier list:
Halberd + Leo ring.
Large Club + Poison resin
Black Knight Greatsword. Why this slow piece of shit? Because each time you wind up that slow R2, people go for the backstab, then you turn around and smack em right up into the air.
There's a lot of things wrong with DaS2, lack of scabbard being one of them. Like fuck, it allowed you to holster one weapon and use the opposite hand weapon.
>use large club
>mfw no one can ever dodge it for some retarded reason or another
>mfw i two hand R2 and they try to backstab me and i turn around and smash them before they get a chance
>being a shitty melee only purist who insults intfags
>still complain about magic when they kick your ass
Shit, anyone have that webm of some invader getting to Priscilla, killing her, and tricking the host into thinking he was some glitched white/gold phantom?
>not carrying a Lightning/Chaos backup to shit on clerics with
>not dropping their holier-than-thou asses down the elevator in Oolacile
not really that difficult if you're shown the way in, say, a youtube video, not to mention you have absolutely nothing to lose coming straight from the asylum so you can just keep throwing yourself at the hordes of skeletons till you obtain it.
It will honestly blow your mind how much of the game you missed. It's important to play once without guides but after that I really recommend looking things up. Don't worry it will probably take you half as long to beat it the second time.
>hating on objectively best play style
Look at that fat ugly piece of shit. It's like the manlet of greatswords.
The guns seem super weak, they seem to be a tool for staggering a little bit. Enemies brush it off like nothing unless you hit them at the right time. Gadgets will probably be the thing to watch out for. You're right about the flamethrower.
>Replay Demon's Souls
>"I'll use the Estoc, I love the Estoc!"
>those fucking hitboxes
>trying to hit crystal lizards, ever
>trying to hit mosquitoes, ever
>everything lower than my kneecaps just nibbles on my ankles while I cure this piece of shit weapon
Why are some of the weapon animations and hitboxes in Demon's Souls so bad?
So is this guy supposed to be the last Dickwraith or something? Can we get his armor/weapons? We better since they put him on the goddamned box.
This thread is a good example on why multiplayer is cancerous and detrimental to games. It's neat in theory but then you realize the type of retarded faggot you have to play with.
>Muh cheap moves
>had a thread some time ago when I didn't fight Gwyn yet, asking who was the harder boss between Allant and him
>most anons said Gwyn
>he's not even worthy of licking Allant's boots
It's like /v/ can't ever get their shit straight.
just dink them for tiny damage, fast weapons don't go well against high def
Too stabby, kind of low damage.
Satisfying but slow, suffering without poise
Satisfying but slow, suffering without poise
The downsides of both spears and daggers, none of the strengths.
slow, stamina drain, takes hours to recover from a whiff, only halberds have nice movesets
Fast, strong, the most versatile of all weapons, good scaling, fast enough for buffing, don't drain too much stamina
Straight swords without the versatility
>shields, magic, ranged weapons
A question about Dark Souls II, what happened to the Estoc? I heard that it's become popular, but I don't know why.
I've always liked it a lot, same with the Claymore in Dark Souls.
I'm a Quality kind of guy.
The biggest issue with Allant is that he doesn't have high damage output, doesn't really combo, and his attacks are slow and flashy enough that you can chow down on grass while he's still flipping and glowing.
Gwyn is relentless and constantly chases you down. Finding the opportunity to heal with Gwyn is almost impossible unless you're poise cheesing.
If you put Allant and Gwyn in a room and had them fight it out, Gwyn would win.
If the battle hasn't resolved before SLB runs out, you're doing it wrong. Are they fleeing at the sight of your crackling golden fuckstick? That's what the running 2HR1 is for.
If I remember right, it has the single highest damage output of any weapon in the game.
If you like axes, I strongly recommend ascending a +10 axe into a Golem Axe. It has an amazing moveset.
Was replaying Demon's Souls pretty recently. Fucking nuts how much better the game is than Dark Souls. Let's not even mention Dark Souls 2. God what a pile of shit.
Why the fuck did they think invasions/co-op needed more convoluted restrictions? Keep it simple you limp dick japs.
Quick, long, ridiculous counter damage, uses no stamina.
All the rapier style weapons are broken good in 2. Even better in PvE as the bosses have ridiculously large counter windows. +15 standard rapier let me kill fume knight second try before he buffed, wasn't even buffed.
>Two blue faggots invade at the forest
>One of them pretends to wait but while i fight the other he sneaks around and backstabs me.
>Still managed to kill both
Used to use it as an off-hand or sidearm to poke at people as they rolled away or just straight up stunlock them when they fuck up.
>tfw STR weapons are probably still shit
I don't know, I think DeS and DaS have their own strengths and weaknesses.
DeS had fantastic level design and great sound design. I love how every armor has its own sounds, and how enemies can detect you if you're wearing clunky, loud armor. I love how distinct every weapon feels. And I love how well designed every enemy encounter feels.
However, I feel like DeS suffers with its bosses. Some neat ideas, but most of the bosses just feel dull. The only bosses that really stand out to me are Old Monk, Fools Idol, Storm King, Old Hero, and Allant.
Also there's a distinct lack of armor choices, gender divisions with armor, very little in the way of secrets, (in my opinion) less replay value, and the upgrade system is painfully convoluted. Grass grinding is also a pain.
I'm on PS3. The only places you'll find any activity are Dickstab Forest and Anal Rodeo.
You will NEVER find anyone anywhere else. I've been trying to invade Tomb of the Giants for like an hour now.
Allant had magic damage like Doran IIRC, and Garl vinland shield had a shit stability or whatever it was called, I hardly remember anymore.
While Black knight shield +5 has 95 fire resistance and 74 stability, plus twinkling titanite is piss easy to farm unlike colorless demon's souls.
Same. I just finished replaying Demon's Souls yesterday, and while I loved the atmosphere, story, characters, and sound, the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired at times.
>Some enemy encounters are tedious and uninteresting
>Some of the level design is too visually convoluted (4-1, 4-2), or just empty (2nd half of 3-1)
>Lack of armor and weapons, Miracles a shit
>World fucking Tendency
>Most of the most memorable bosses aren't challenging, just interesting the first time through (Astraea, Storm King, Dragon God, etc.)
>Gender / Class requirements
>Fucking upgrade system
My buddy and I went full Smough and Ornstein and summoned each other in Darkgroot Basin last weekend. Holy shit, we've never had such a successful string of pvp victories. Shit was so cash, so many great moments:
>we're 2 on 1 against a really good person two handing a curved greatsword of some sort.
>he's got really high hp, we whittle him down but can't ever finish him off and he always runs away and humanities up
>meanwhile we're cockslapping random other forest defenders that are invading while trying to get this guy
>at one point he gets the back stab on me when I was low enough to be certain death
>buddy notices and manages to start chugging estus between the first and second hits of his backstab animation, saving my life
>get up, poke the shit outta him like the goddamn dragonslayer I'm dressed up as
>buddy get's a nice Smough slam dunk, but not enough to kill him
>sprints away with a sliver of health
>BOOM THE ONE HANDED LIGHTNING SHOT BITCH
my dick would have been so hard if i wasn't impotent
>Allant constantly stops what's he doing to swagger in your direction
>The game gives you dozens and dozens of Full Moon Grasses in 1-3
What the fuck were they thinking with some of the stuff in DeS.
me and a buddy would always go full retard in darkroot basin in pvp
there was an invader who was like 30 levels under us and couldnt do any real good damage to us so we unequiped everything and backstabbed him with our fist
darkroot was great
You get hit by an arrow you either fly forward or backward in the direction you're facing, not the direction the arrow hits at. And the other archer sometimes still shoots you while you're up there. Anyway it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. At least not if you practiced on the black knight in the burg which I suspect most did.
>Grinding for grass in DeS
I understand if it's your first playthrough and you're running through 1-2 grabbing grass so you actually make it through the rest of the worlds, but the game throws so much grass at you at a point that you're almost incapable of dying.
I think it's after 4-2, when Patches moves to the Nexus, that things kind of get out of control with grass.
Because he sometimes doesn't put away his bow and instead keeps shooting, if you try to strike with certain weapons/positions the knockback could send you falling off the side and the rare caee where the other archer hits your back.
Basically shit happens.
>a strength weapon in Dark Souls
>that isn't shit
I guess someone at From stopped masturbating over katanas long enough to whip this baby up.
Fuck yeah, pvping with a buddy there is always a good time. It's also surprisingly active, at least on pc.
>we usually bum rush everyone, no matter it's just one and therefore not fair
>that one guy who bowed to us immediately up on entering our world
>doh, okay we'll fight one at a time
>i kill him pretty easily
>he keeps invading and bowing, i keep killing him 1 on 1
I wish you the best Esh, guess it just wasn't your day.
My favorite will have to be the Obsidian Greatsword. It took an assload of attempts and perseverance, but it was worth it imo. It looks great, and it was the last thing I did on my Xbox save of DaS.
>tfw you don't bother fucking with Priscilla because all the weapons she gives you are shit
Fluffy tail remains only for petting and nothing else.
On my first playthrough of Dark Souls I got the black knight sword after about 20 attempts in Undead Burg. I didn't really like it to begin with, but it came in handy for tough enemies cuz it was so strong. Eventually I went standard sword and shield with it, which was pretty fun.
But then I got past the door in Darkroot Garden and man it was one of my favorite video game moments. I went one on one with that hardass knight and his mage friend and it was so intense. I watched the knight so intently that eventually I just adopted his play style and started two handing it. From then on I felt like a true knight and fuck was it fun.
I really hope Bloodborne is as good as it looks.
I'm 99% positive it will be even better than it looks
Fuck's sake I had to cut his tail with black knight haldberd because I hadn't a better weapon with a faster vertical swing, took me like 30 minutes.
It seemed so fucking easy to kill after that, his moveset isn't tricky at all if you fast roll, unlike bitch Manus.
Plus, the weapon is shit.
I've had vagrants assist me in invasions from time to time. lil' crabby dealt the finishing blow with his homing needles on this particular occasion.
It's very easy to get straight to the dragon from the butcher's secret hole. After my first couple of playthroughs that's usually the way I go, followed by dying because I forgot about the Channeler and a buffed Gaping grazes my toes to one-shot me.
I will say that this design doesn't seem very practical. I mean you can either swing it like a big hammer or dual wield the top as a smaller hammer with the sword right? I just don't see how the sword would be strong enough to support that massive hammer on top of it.
Dark Souls remastered with all the stuff they had to cut when
>Priscilla being the heroine
>Shiva betraying you for the Chaos Blade
>undead king armor and weapon
>The black zweihander
>Oscar betraying you because he's jelly that you are the chosen undead
Literally the best weapon in the game is the Black Knight Halberd. For PvE only, of course, but still. I got lucky on my first playthrough and the knight near the Grass Crest Shield dropped it, I beat Artorias, Kalameet, and O&S on my first try with it.
As a fan of Ultra Great Swords and other ridiculously oversized weapons I always find myself wondering how people play the game with the smaller weapons. I can see how they can be more useful for pvp but pve? The big weapons feel far more useful and effective in all but a few select situations.
This. From actually tried modelling them instead of just making them low-res polygons or just having her dress touch the ground.
I hope that Bloodborne lets you find other weapons and stuff along the main game instead of just upgrading the ones you have.
One of the best part of the Souls series is how many different weapons are lying around. Most of them have different implications and stories as to who used them before you came around. None of them are particularly better then the other (exceptions apply) so everyone uses their own unique weapon that they fall in love with. The unique move sets even cater to personal style too.
How many other games do this? It's cool having a weapon with a story, not necessarily like Fable where everything's spelled out for you. There should never be a 'best' weapon with flat out more damage and speed. It should just be something that just allows you to play the game how you want to.
99 Endurance, you can swing this sword at least 2-3 more times than people think you can and rush in and get trapped.
Iron flesh on entry, use the dragon greatswords R2 attack to unexpectedly fuck people up who run to cheese you from a distance or cast a spell, but be ready with it, and make sure you're near some kind of cover before you cast it. I main the forest, so I'm allways near a tree.
Also, if they run in thinking your iron flesh makes you shit and slow, let them get a hit off, bounced stagger while you gravelord sword them and then dragon R2 on wakeup.
But mainly, you just swing like 3 times to bait them in thinking you're out of stamina, then you stunlock them with 2 more hits.
I just left her because I couldn't see a reason to kill her. I have a policy that I don't kill people who aren't dicks - this tends to apply to games with monsters who don't attack (unless attacked) and NPC's who are neutral or better.
Plus, I was so fucking done with that place, I wanted out of it.
I did do another playthrough where I went for all collectibles, and I did kill her.
Based on what we've seen so far I'd bet there will be plenty of variety. There's a gun-rapier, the Kirkhammer, the cane-whip, a regular battle-axe, the saw blade they're using for all the promo material, etc. It looks like these all play very differently from each other, so I'm pretty excited.
It may look better but Havels is pure minmax for stability.
In all seriousness, if you want to win a lot in souls pvp, try out Estoc turtle.
It's the lowest common denominator way to fight, and has no hard counter. It is the safest way to duel. All the way back to Demons.
how the FUCK do you guys hold onto your souls and humanity?
I see screencaps with people that have one trillion souls and 99 humanity
I'm on my first playthrough and I just barely got the lordvessel. is there something later in the game that lets you farm or keep this shit or what?
Don't forget the spider hollows. They would have been neat to see in the Demon Ruins seeing as how they were implied to be the next stage of the egg-bearers. It would also have increased the number of different enemies in the Demon Ruins by 25%.
Twinblades are probably one of the worst weapon classes.
There is nothing more powerful than an Estoc turtle, and I don't know what you mean by "in the back" when Gower's exists.
that makes sense
I think the max amount of humanity I've ever had at a time was 3
I'm offline on xbox, do any of you know how dead coop is?
