Assuming you're talking about the PC version, thanks to GFWL the game is completely fucked to shit and won't even save. Codemasters have been promising to fix this by moving over to Steamworks since late 2013 and they still didn't finish it.

I was about to make a thread like this, OP. I've been looking at the Xbone sales on the Forza series and The Crew, since I enjoyed Burnout 3 tons when I was younger and I'm looking for a new racing game to play.

I've got PC/Xbone/PS4, so The Crew is an automatic out as a multiplat, where it'll comparatively shine on PC (though it honestly doesn't look very good compared to something like GRID Autosport).

Sad to hear about >>283835940 saying Driveclub is no good even after what I heard was a piss poor launch and then steady supposed improvements like the dynamic weather patch.

So basically, it's between the two Forza 5 and Horizon 2 titles. I'm thinking Maybe grab the bundle with both for 73$? But there's so much fucking DLC for these games. And checking Amazon shows me that Horizon 2 is still around full price.

Any suggestions or guidance?

Anime, the original series not the recent reboot. Watch it with subs, or if you want dubs, watch the Funimation ones- by no means should you EVER search out the Tokyopop ones.

The manga includes some things the anime ignores or switches around a bit but it's mostly inconsequential because the anime has cheesy as fuck CGI and Eurobeat and that's what we're all here for.

I dunno really, I blast my own

>>
>What's your favourite one?
Enthusia Professional Racing. It's more realistic than either Forza or Gran Turismo, and it had unique elements, good tracks, a fine selection of cars, and a nice attention to detail.

Apart from the 30 FPS cap it's not really a bad thing, Frostbite is an ok engine.
I rather ask myself, which stupid fucker thought it'd be a good idea to make the game 2 hours long. The idea for The Run was something that got me really excited, they just messed up with the realization so bad. Instead of bantering to the ADHD autists they should have just make it that you literally drive for say 20 hours at least, even if there isn't even anything going on on the roads.
>>
>>283842248
Stageas are p cool. But yeah, we were starved for turbo japboxes and the Japs only saw fit to give us shitboxes like Sentras and Altimas.
>>
>>283842391
That's what really drove me up the fucking wall (no pun intended). It wad a game about a cross country race from SF to NYC. AND IT LASTED 2 HOURS. The Order 1886 has nothing on that game.
>>
>>283841908
I think that game is both underrated and legitimately horrendous.

If you strip off the QTEs, the "you can only play the way we tell you to" challenge mode, and the retarded vehicle restrictions and unlocks, it's actually a very nice coast-to-coast racing game that reminds me of a modern take on classics like Cruisin' USA and Out Run.

The handling is better than anything else in the series since NFSHP2 for PS2, the roads are great, and some of the cinematic events, like the avalanche, are fun.

>>283842625
I'm >>283842761. It could have definitely benefitted from being longer, but replaying The Run by chapter select with different cars (skipping the SF, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Ohio chapters) offers good replay value for me.

I revisit The Run more often than I revisit objectively better games.
>>
>>283842761
The handling literally felt like something out of a James Bond chase scene, which is bad. It was like driving a V2 rocket using a lasso. Fuck, it was even worse than Prostreet's handling, and that was GOD AWFUL.

>>283842946
It's only the PS2 version, though. The GCN/Xbox/PC versions were a preview of the understeer shitfest that would follow through the rest of the '00s.

And that's what it is, the game actually allows the rear tires to lose grip outside of a "drift mode", making it more dynamic.
>>
>>283843507
doesn't the ps2 version have two handling modes? which one is the good one?
>>
>>283843169
Quick question- did you ever beat the game on anything past hard difficulty? Because I couldn't. Seriously.
>>
>>283843237

I own three copies of EPR and replaced my old PS2 in 2013 just to make sure I can keep playing it. I also bought the strategy guide years after 100%ing the game, just to collect it.

Such a shame that Konami bungled the marketing and launch timing, and split up the devs rather than giving a sequel a chance.

Here's something for you, though -- go check out the arcade game Road Fighters. Ex-EPR staff were involved in making it and it uses EPR tracks.

Came to this thread to say that I don't like many of the modern driving mechanics, didn't knew how to put it, but this webm showcases it well.

It's fucking floaty. I don't know if that's an issue with transferring the control scheme from console to PC, but it feels like you're controlling a boat that barely touches the road.

I think Sleeping Dogs had a very similar driving model, which just showed how crappy it would be to use it on an actual street.

I played only the first game and it was great, it was a mix between sim/arcade.

For the second one I only know they went more arcade and tuning stuff than the first one.

I found one at a local bowling arena wich they are trying to turn into an arcade with some old as fuck machines, they even have some good ol' daytona.

Yet I never played it. What's the story with this card? On the arcade there were some webpage links to check scores or something like that, is it the same thing?

For a dollar more or so, the Initial D machine would print this card out for you, and it recorded all of your progress, upgrades, stats, etc.
So you could go to any Initial D machine, have it scan your card, and play your car with all the progress you've made.
>>
>>283849606
Sorry anon, the card is probably bad. They don't really last for years.

I still hang onto my JZX100 for Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3, just in case I find a machine again. It probably doesn't work either.

This is why I'm skeptical of The Crew. I haven't had an opportunity to try it yet, but it doesn't look good in videos.

All those roads are worthless if the driving sucks donkey ass.

Not that fellow, though my friend bought The Crew and it's not bad. The driving is pretty arcade-y but I don't play many racing games anymore so I enjoyed it.

I miss the extremely creative tracks of the older need for speed titles.

I've been waiting for a real remake of the older games for so long.

I would only change the graphics, the handling/physics and add more cars.

music from the older games was god tier too.

>What's your favourite one?
At the moment, Assetto Corsa.
>Do you prefer sim, arcade or simcade?
I prefer the depth of sims. I found Driveclub to be pretty enjoyable with a wheel setup though.
>Which game are you waiting for?
Dream Car DLC for AC.
>What game has best soundtrack?
Can't hear tires and revs with music.
>What is your carfu across all games?
I'm promiscuous as fuck. I generally swing towards older cars like pic related because they tend to have a lot going handling-wise that you need to manage to go fast. Modern race and supercars tend to be all about doing whatever they can mechanically to let you be as lazy as possible with your actual driving.

Can see this shit biting back hard, Heard even die-hard CM/Current F1 game fans say they're getting sick of their shit. At this point would you prefer EA to make annual F1 titles or someone competent to get the rights and make the games every few years with updates for drivers/teams every season?
