Let's get actually funny things in here
"dank memes" belongs to the normalfags now by the way
Reminder that only /v/scape has the dankest memes
Remember that easter item that turned you into an egg? Me and a couple of friends used to pretend that a witch had turned us into eggs and asked newer players to save us. I don't remember why, it's been around 10 years. Good times though.
I used to carry the rubber chicken with me wherever I went.
Get in here faggots.
>not grinding the fuck out of f2p before getting 1# alpha male elite deluxe club RuneScape members
Anyway, who remembers those "irl pking" videos? God those were hilarious.
>you will never walk through the members gate north-west of Falador to barely cross White Wolf Mountain in order to reach Catherby and do some comfy fishing or do some fletching in Seers for the first time ever again
>Yelling at your friend and telling him to run because you're so scared to die and lose your inventory of shitty food
I spent my entire fucking spring break in either '05 or '06 fletching in Seers and listening to Nujabes.
>tfw playing rs3 in another tab right now
>tfw in a clan of dipshits I care nothing about
>tfw killing mutated jadinko males and closing in on
94 slayer [/spolier]
>Taking White Wolf mountain as an under levelled newbie
>Not taking the backdoor by travelling to Karamja and then taking the boat from Brimhaven to Ardougne.
>tfw was desperate to be a member in 05 I had them charge our phone bill in the subscription call
>dad freaking out asking why he there was a £15 call in the phone bill
>said I was talking to a mate helping him do homework for ages
>you tried to put on goblin mail
>you asked your friends how to put on goblin mail
>you asked other players how to put on goblin mail
>you thought combining a white bread with a staff would make a staff of air
>somebody wanted to buy that white bead off you for a quest with imps out something
>you told them no because you were going to make an air staff
Man I was a stupid motherfucker
I did that same exact thing.
My mom eventually blocked the number so I couldn't call it though. I was able to just use my lunch money to give it to my neighbor's uncle and he bought membership for me.
/v/ has it's very own private server.
They don't have all the quests working but it's better than giving Jagex money.
I think they're migrating servers right now though so it might be a big laggy.
> still thinking ge ruined runescape.
only because it made it easier for botted items to be sold. Nothing wrong with ge for regular players who kill and grind for their items. Just like real life internet brah
Sounds like a great time. Wish I knew Nujabes back then.
>tfw I spent eight collective years of my life playing Tibia and Runescape
>Not they both suck
A few bugs that get sorted quickly, the only thing missing from the game is the majority of p2p quests and a few mini games. since theirs so much else to do it doesn't really matter.
The biggest drawback can be the appointment of young staff.
at least crop the the fucking logos out
>tfw Runescape is the only MMO that you can still enjoy
It's a fucked up mess nowadays and I can spend a whole day finding things that I hate about it, but I'll still take it over any other MMO.
>typical school day back in middle/high school
>sit in class writing out a to-do list for when I get home and fire up runescape
>when I was done doing that I would draw my character killing cows or a boss from a quest
>take the bus home
>run to my house
>put some ramen noodles in the microwave and fire up windows media player
>play runescape all evening while listening to vidya music, particularly from Final Fantasy X/X-2
>Saturday morning, 7am after a long week of school
>Sun just coming up
>Wrap up in a blanket and sit down at the pc
>Play Runescape all day
I miss my routine
A few times throughout my rs career I quit to play rsps. Idk, something about the incredibly high xp rates, the shitty communities, people begging and sucking dick for mod/admin privileges, people actually BUYING mod/admin then getting their dicks sucked in exchange didn't get my dick hard like the actual game did.
I still log in occassionally and pay for membership too after getting that 10 year cape a couple years back.
Guthix died in a quest in 2013, was impaled in the throat by Sliske (the guy who cursed the Barrows Brothers) using the Staff of Armadyl) Bandos (Big High War God of goblins) was killed in 2014 by Armadyl the bird god Zaros has returned
I tried playing RS3 but it's such a mess.
The interface is extremely confusing and you get bombarded with windows. RS2 had a really nice and simple interface with everything being on the right and you didn't have to stop playing to access it, I don't know why they thought a change was necessary.
I would probably still play but the runescape world is so damn empty, and full places everywhere was one of the main things which made the game so great in the first place
How many people are playing
the original RS now
I have notebooks completely filled with numbers and to do lists for runescape that I would make in class. I would calculate how many flax i would need to spin or how many tuna potatoes i could make to get x amount of gp. The game literally consumed my life and i couldn't think of anything else for awhile.
I wouldn't of had it any other way.
I remember the gnomeball minigame.
It was so fucking stupid and literally RNG if I remember correctly, but when I was a kid I loved it for some reason because I would pretend it was blitzball.
I would RP that I was a famous gnomeball player too. Jesus fuck I was autistic as shit.
There's still a decent amount of people playing rs3 nowadays, however, its a totally different game and because of this, a TON of pre-eoc content is utterly dead and forgotten. I really would like to play osrs but i don't have anywhere near the time or patience to level up a new character, so i play rs3 instead.
>tfw i followed all this
>we obsessed over david
>older brother played Runescape through miniclip every day after school
>say stupid shit like "runescape is totally gay lel" but watched him play for hours
>finally muster up the courage to make MY OWN ACCOUNT
>the amazing feeling of being in a open, virtual world with other players for the first time
>felt like i could take on the world with my leather boots, bronze sword and wooden shield
>spent my first day in rs pestering a group of girls in lummy asking them if they will eat krabby patties with me
a simpler time..
Come try it out, right now theres a 2 week F2P trial going on, with full F2P coming in the very near future.
Its pretty cool, its like from 2007 but with some new content that fits the spirit and style of 2007 era RS. I think I would describe OSRS like if Jagex never got rid of the wildy, free trade, and never added the HD update. It feels like a different direction that the game could've taken in an alternate universe, and this second there are around 30k players on.
That's the beauty of runescape though. There wasn't any story or narrative dictating the kind of player you needed to be to enjoy the game. It truly felt like a vast and open world and that you could do anything you wanted at any time. Whether that is being a mong at the gnomeball field or grinding your skills to get 99s. Its an experience I've never had in any other game besides rs, its truly unique on that regard.
I remember making a Sunday Night Football parody for it.
Trained thieving alongside Solaire.
Met a guy named Appajack.
Went back to Cancerscape.
It took me some time to get used to the new UI. I've actually grown to like it more than classic U. It starts out as a huge fucking mess but spend like 10 minutes dealing with that clusterfuck and it can actually become a very good one.
Sometimes I wonder why the UI couldn't be less appalling by default.
Ready to have your nostalgia ruined, /v/? This is what Guthix looks like ingame, officially. Also he's dead.
This is Zamorak, the god all the bad guys in quests followed. He got his shit wrecked by Saradomin recently and is on the same level as the cabbage god from that april fool's newspost. Who is now canon. No, I'm not joking.
Saradomin, the "good guy" god. Has turned out to be a giant fucking asshole recently.
Bandos, the Big High War God from that quest series with the cave goblins. He's dead too now.
>tfw the game taught me marketing and how to exploit resources
I would have about 5 f2p's outside Falador farming me beads that I could then sell for better prices to members.
It was always good to see those newbs go from Bronze-wearing mix-and-match to wearing full steel that was probably made by another member of my 'empire'
Not really. Rs has always had a decent backstory if you bothered to read about it, or if you actually read betrayal at falador lol.
Recently they have kind of shoehorned the gods in more than they should have in my opinion. Zamoral, saradomin, and guthix always seemed like actual gods to me. There was mystery surrounding them and we were never 100% sure who they were or what they were capable of. The god wars dungeon added to this as well.
Nowadays all of the gods are just hanging out on the surface world and literally killing each other.
>back in the day when I used to just play video games without feeling the urge to look up a guide when I got stuck
>I did stupid shit like this all the time
>Played for hundreds of hours and never made it past level 50
It was so much better back then when I actually enjoyed games for the experience rather than minmaxing everything and having to use the most efficient methods possible in everything I do. It's just not the same anymore
Minecraft to kids today is what Runescape was to us back in the day
Armadyl, the god all the aviansies in the God Wars Dungeon followed. Recently killed Bandos.
And Seren, that crystal Goddess the elves followed. Recently revealed to be Zaros' "twin".
>Like the new dragons designs
>"Oh man I wonder what the KBD looks like!"
>Has a BigMclargehuge man jaw that looks retarded next to two heads that look like the dinkiest dragon heads ever
>Sitting in a coffee shop
>Waiting to get dank (for real)
>younger friends friend won't stop talking about dank memes
>he wants the phrase dank memes on his gravestone
>Start watching hearthstone on phone.
Whats happening and why is this popular with other people?
Karamja was every bit as dangerous.
>those venus flytraps
>all the other jungle wildlife
Also, speaking of Ardougne
>mfw I trained my range and magic by killing all the caged animals at the zoo
They should have thrown me in the prisons at Port Sarim and tossed the key into the deep blue
>swarms of unkillable bugs
>almost zero places to restock
>half the places you can't get to unless you've done some tedious quest
>agility tests everywhere
that place was so fucking hostile. actually, runescape having environments which were so hostile to players, like mort myre and the al kharid desert really made the game a lot more fun
think about it, the most fun places in runescape were the most dangerous
>runescape having environments which were so hostile to players, like mort myre and the al kharid desert really made the game a lot more fun
That and making them interactive. Everywhere there was stuff to click on, shortcuts to take and higher level content to look at. Most MMOs have a completely dead world outside of towns.
Those niggers had some potent ass poison jesus fuck. I got lured to them once but thanks to my cunning managed to store my stuff below the deck of the brimhaven ship docked in Ardy before dying. Never went near them again, poison was hitting for like 15+ or something retarded.
i can't have been the only one who examined almost every new object they came across because some of the descriptions were either really funny or very subtly helped you to understand the lore better
>that entire Tai Bwo Wannai place
I spent so much fucking time in Runescape's take on South Africa doing those cleanup minigames and grinding those trade sticks.
I don't even remember what for either.
because the items you could get from it were the ultimate show of patrician-ness
>machete with a gem blade
>tubers for making mad dosh
another point, if you think about it all the minigames would be fun, co-operative and if played enough would have cosmetic rewards. There were so many of them you would be constantly encountering people with cool clothing and asking about where they got it from, always giving the player more inspiration to do quests
>getting 92 anything
>the grim realization that its only the halfway point
>tfw you remember the day that Castle wars came out vividly
>The lobby was fucking packed
>Some dude AFK in the corner dying to one of those plant random events and everyone rushing over to get his stuff
>he probably quit because he was clearly loaded
>finally get into a castle war match
>Nobody knows what the hell they're doing but they're loving it
>That one guy on the opposing team who had done the quest to unlock ancient magic and would use ice barrage
these days uncle jags releases a new skill like warcraft releases expansions
i remember when summoning was added it already felt like shit was getting silly, if not that being the moment when run escape finally started its nosedive
I'm not too familiar with neo-scape but they did finally finish Prifdinnas after years of it being half complete on the map.
The end is as unsatisfying as you'd expect.
The new city has a lot of content sure, but it makes skills even easier to train, and also it's hideous. Make's me sad that the new main "hub" of the game is a stark white empty void in the sky, while all the old cities with their charm are pretty much empty.
That describes my Runescape experience perfectly.
>play Runescape from '03 to '07
>get to combat level 90 and have a total level around 1600
>Decide to make a new account in 2010
>Get to combat level 80 and total level of 1500~ within a few months
Dungoneering is not a skill but fuck me if it isnt one of the more amusing past times in the beginning
>jewing food by hiding it in completed dead ends
Oh man those were the days
You attempt to leap the gap...
I feel the reason for that, for me at least, was that I did a LOT of just dicking around. The only time I really trained toward something was because I needed a skill for a quest or I just really wanted to wear some better gear.
Grinding was less important than running around, exploring, playing minigames or whatever.
Also, factor in that training now you probably know what you're doing to maximize xp gain, movement is much easier with free teleports to pretty much goddamn anywhere, and most all skills can be done with a "Make X" option now (the one thing I don't really have a problem with, too much clicking was a bit of a pain in the ass)
Underground Pass was goddamn great. For me it ties with Desert Treasure with best of the old quests.
Though I admit I rather liked While Guthix Sleeps and Nomad's Requiem too. Basically I guess I like any quest that was challenging to me when I played it.
The GE murdered any sense of community that the game had. No longer would anyone haggle for items, or have to actually work to sell or buy items. No meeting new people and getting crafter contacts.
Prices dropped with the GE being added, since it became really easy for people to see the prices of items. Monkfish high? SELL SELL SELL. Need to buy something? Just go to the GE which was just one giant fucking store and buy it for the cheapest fucking price offered.
Then there were the fucking merchers who destroyed the damn economy.
The GE was one of the worst things to happen to Runescape and was one of the signs that Jagex wanted the game to be more like WoW.
Does anyone remember the hint system on the website where you could trade in points for quest hints? You'd get a few points per day. They eventually removed it because everyone used walkthroughs.
>get members finally
>exploring the world in awe
>jump through hoops to get colored gloves and boots of all things for some reason
>see some dude with a cool cape
>ask him what it was
>Find out you can only get it after you do legends quest
>Spend all my years on runescape slowly training and doing pre-required quests in order to do legends quest quest
>Jagex fucks up trade system and wilderness, as well as adds GE
>decide to leave the game with everyone else
>my character never got to achieve his dream of becoming a legend
Maybe I should resub just to finish that quest someday
For me it was actually Dark Warrior's fortress, since that's where my clan's "headquarters" was. Just sitting around, waiting to see if there was a good fight.
There usually wasn't, and we were awful at fighting. But it comfy in a way. It felt safe in the building with your clan friends in the middle of the dangerous wilderness, even though you really weren't all that safe, and that one asshole probably would wind up teamkilling you with ice burst.
Barring that, I really liked the Tree Gnome Stronghold.
Legend's capes were great. Extremely cheap with good cape stats. They were behind the Lava Cape, Skill Cape and that one cape from the Volcano people, Obsidian Cape I think it was. When I ventured into dangerous areas I wore the Legends Cape plus a prayer armor set that I can't remember the name of.
Is it me or are the newer graphics just shit? I prefer the look of Oldschool.
If you ask me, Oldschool looks perfect for java. If they want to make the game look so much better they should switch to a new engine instead of trying to make crap look shiny.
Me and my friends would hang out in the basement of the blue moon inn on w102. At all times of day there was at least 2 people there. The place became so well known that people just started showing up and making friends.
Really wish i could put together some kind of reunion for old times sake. Met a lot of cool people in that place.
Those fucking faggots, being hit with one of those spells in CW would instill a rage inside that even satern himself could quell. And then I did the quest and then would only target other ice-barragers and I'd sit there and revel in all the hate I got from them.
No, It's not just you. The game just looks like shit compared to oldschool.
Oldschool graphics are simplistic and stylized, rs3's they tried to focus on enhancing the graphics but it all just looks like someone vomiting on a palette and called it done.
Making a trek through that forest for a shitty co ordinate clue scroll was awful
>character isnt agile enough not to be completely fucking retarded to just step over it
Those and the fucking spiketraps were the worst.
it's bad because you couldn't make 300K-500K per hour (back when coals were 100-150 each? I don't remember anymore) anymore just buying runes off that wilderness mage place, then selling them on the forums
Look, if anyone is still playing, would a /v/ro like to max out their account with me? I'm almost all 80+ with 10 skills at 99. It don't want a race but I want someone similar (around 2200-2400 total) to finish up with at a slow but steady pace.
Yeah those sound familiar. I had the quest cape for a long time. I quit when they released a quest that required 76 agility. I don't have the patience to train agility that much.
>decide to do some quest before going to be
>decide to do Elemental Workshop 3 since the previous two quests were pretty short
>reach this puzzle
>my face an hour later
I haven't made a single friend ever since I quit RuneScape 6 years ago. I had so many cool friends back then and now I have nobody.
>remember runescape quests taking so long and being so hard
>most can be done in 10 minutes with prep
if it makes you feel better
I made something as bad/worse for ragnarok online
of course I don't use that youtube account anymore.
it hurts to read the comments
I tried, man. Even when I moved onto WoW I could never make any lasting friends. Then when I hit up Oldschool - nothing. I don't know what happened to me but I'm so antisocial now.
The sheer frustration that everyone went through when that shit was released was hilarious. Infuriating, but hilarious.
>my fucking face when that shit
I think I've successfully repressed it because I have no idea how I did it.
>log in now
>all those red names on your friends list
I had some true bros in Runescape.
We made a small clan together and claimed a house in Varrock as our base.
We would go questing, do holiday events and explore the world. We even created a group website for some reason. I remember we took a group photo at the top of the church in Ardougne. I wish I still had those photos.
What did you think of the bullshit laser-puzzle-while-being-eaten-by-shades thing in Mourning Ends Part 2?
On a completely different note: Anyone know if the old developers of Runescape made guidelines for whoever took over now in terms of lore? I actually kind of like how Zaros was handled for the most part in the recent quest thing, considering all the mystery and suspense they had with his character up until this point. I wonder if that was the work of new writers, or did the people who originally made the lore have a hand in it somehow.
i got muted for a year after getting into an argument with a mod
and because of this i couldn't talk to a friend who had moved to another part of the country we used to play the original tomb raider at his house, he got bullied because he was fat but i was always nice to him sorry ashley ;_;
>have friend that was really into runescape
>fairly high up on the rankings
>Hung out with zezima
He was a crazy guy too, spent an entire summer break playing RS, lost a shit ton of weight from it. He quit after nearly getting arrested for fraud though, managed to sell his account though.
>be pretty well off
>buy green mask, was 700k at the time
>brother catches wind of this
>"sell that shit back, it's useless"
I got hacked some time later so it didn't matter.
>be a member
>membership eventually runs out
>have to play a free world wearing members stuff
>people globbing on to you wondering where you got all your cool shit
>those few in the bunch who get mad and tell you to get back to your members world and quit showing off
Looking through my screenshots makes me feel really sad. Oldschool was a nice trip down memory lane but wasn't the same without any friends.
Checked my account for the first time in years and I remember this mute in vivid detail. It was shortly after the Warrior's Guild was released and I was shooting the shit with some fucker in the animated armour room. Guess he was a prude, cant blame him really though since it seems me from 8 years ago was retarded.
Guthix is truly dead, because no loving god would have allowed this to be created.
I actually had a dream about my long lost rsgf last night. Literally the only girl I have ever had in my life that was interested in me. Broke off the relationship after 5 years and even after so long I still think about her sometimes.
She's haunting me /v/, help.
I joined but I was too shy to socialize and make friends.
Holy hell what did they do to Zanik??
Here's what gnome child looks like now.

they're slowly adding in all the shit from the main game, including stuff like the grand exchange and microtransactions which allow you to RWT (because it's okay when jagex does it)
I don't remember my password anymore, so I'll greentext it.
>discover "lick my balls" "you lick balls" isn't censored
>spam that insult to anyone who beats me in castle wars
>get banned early in the month
>had a subscription
>the jews don't reimburse me for the time I lost
>make another account and buy another subscription like a good goy
>they're slowly adding in all the shit from the main game
they're adding shit the players vote on
>including stuff like the grand exchange
you mean just the grand exchange
the OSRS bonds are going to be ONLY for membership
educate yourself before you spew garbage misinformation
There really aren't any.
Most of the private servers are those with like 100000x exp rates and they give you free dragon shit as soon as you log in.
/v/scape is one of the few somewhat populated runescape servers with reasonable rates and don't hold your hand with care packages.
Jagex shill detected. Bonds are a form of RWT because it allows you to purchase in-game money for real money. They're not "ONLY for membership" like you seem to think. Your shitty private-server-tier game ran by Jagex will soon be halfway to being P2W.
>they're adding shit the players vote on
Does it matter whether or not the players are voting for it? It's still being added and it's still going to ruin the game. The community currently seems to want to turn the game into RS2 in 2011-2012, but I'm sure they won't stop there; just as they didn't stop at getting RS2 in 2007 with some minor quality of life additions because the nostalgia wore off after a while. Basically they just want RS3 but without the ability to use EoC.
Your game is going to shit and the community is literally Reddit.
>get perm muted for spamming tfuck and babyshit
>give account away
>had done like 80% of all the quests
>cb level 110
>recover it years later
>guy used it to macro
>the perm mute ended up getting removed
Don't say I didn't warn you.
You don't seem to understand. Runescape was just a sandbox. It was the people that made runescape great, and all those people left after they turned that sandbox into another WoW wannabe.
07 is not "old school" runescape, because just undoing the major fuckups does not bring back the sense of community old rs had.
>Going into the Fight Cave with 200-whatever era dial up or shitty early DSL.

>Yfw he summons his healers and you know he's at half health.
>Your sweat when you take out 3 of the healers and you focus on him, changing your prayers and fighting against the lag to stay ahead of his attacks the entire time.
>Yfw he finally goes down after ~10 minutes of a trance-like fight.
>that one friend you did quests with
>that moment you finally finished that fucking quest and saw green grass with daylight
man those were the days
A lot of people complain about the how long and boring the fight caves are but the first time i did it, it added to the tension so well. The punishment for dying felt very real because you really didn't want to go through all that again.
The jad fight just added to that. A perfect finale to the entire experience.
After the first tine i wish it didn't take so damn long but whatever.
>mfw got bitchslapped from across the map for an OHKO the first time I got to him
Couldnt fucking believe it.
Runescape racism is more like that kinda of naiive stereotyping racism rather than malicious racism, or humorous 4chan racism.
Though trying to hear these new british voice actors do an "eastern" accent is pretty cringeworthy.
>it's been over two years
I miss it.
OSRS just isn't the same.
Yes. I know this is the Internet and 4chan of all places, and everyone loves to say everything is shit but just look at this thread. Everyone here had solid bros they remember.
RS had no fast travel, you had to walk everywhere, so did everyone else. It was common to start conversations with people going the same way as you, or at least say hello to people passing you.
There was no auction house so in order to get what you needed you had to socialize with the merchants and crafters. It was normal to try and haggle on item prices and you could end up rich just buying and selling things to people. No mater what you did everything in the game had you socializing with people and forming relationships.
Every community has its assholes and edgy teens but if I had to spend the rest of my life with one group of people, it would be all the friends I made on RS.
>Get stuck in upper wildy with full

All those years mang.
>The first online friends I ever had were from this game
>Played for years
>One suddenly disappeared
>The other one day told me he was quitting and thanked me for all the good times
I kept playing for a while, I would always be chilling in the lever puzzle thing in Draynor manor helping out newbies.
Runescape had the best quests
>start The Lost City
>NPCs talking about Zanaris
>Sounds kinda cool
>Start talking about how if you walk into the empty shack in Lumbridge swamp with a staff you're about to get it transports you to Zanaris
>Sounds pretty silly, don't know what to expect
>Mfw entering Zanaris
The cosmic altar there was pretty fucking awesome.
>The Gower's destroyed the game trying to stop bots and gold sellers.
>Sell the company to some random businessman
>P2W and gold buying become a core part of the game
>tfw your highest runescape level was only 33
>tfw you never ground up gold to buy membership from someone
>tfw you never trimmed anyone's armor
I want to play again because I haven't played a fun MMO in a long time..
I remember going to a trade world and trading some bullshit item like charcoal to nonmembers for their trimmed rune shit and bucket helmets. Got a few, too. They'd see the item and think it was rare, thus valuable.
I loved that aspect of the game where people could just massively jew and cheat you.
Proper F2P isn't in yet. Will be soon. The servers are there for people who want to play the game as a F2P player for now, but right now is restricted to members only.
Makes a ton of sense, right? But hey, F2P is coming very, very soon, so just hang tight.
That's Jewgex's way of saying hello.
There are no f2p servers for 07scape, just a trial for oldies who haven't played in awhile.
Regular Runescape has F2P worlds if you have the stomach for it though.
I know. I will always have a soft spot for the beautiful memories of runescape.
I was so young. My mother saw the joy in me playing, she eventually bought me membership subscription. But what left a strong mark on me was that she also gave me CD's to listen to while playing, and particularly The Carpenters albums. I would listen to them all the time while grinding, training, having good and bad times. I can remember that one day I logged in and found myself stripped and hacked... my mother sympathized for me.
Any track by The Carpenters leads me to reminisce rs memories.
I could die to this one.
I thought about it and I regret making that comment now. I have a couple lifelong friends because of that game that I still talk to. So yeah, the community was actually fantastic for the most part.
Oh god, the silence between notes
>save up a ton of money to buy 99 fletching
>was going to be my first 99 and I was really excited
>trade some goon in w2 for 15k yew logs
>put up the money and accept
>look at my inventory in horror
They were fucking willows.
So I hope all of you have come to the bitter realization that all MMOs henceforth from now will almost always be shit. And not just because devs now pander to the largest possible demographic for a quick cash-in, but also due to the fact that nobody will ever focus on the social aspect of the MMO ever again.
What we experienced in our late 90's/early 2000's fledgling MMOs will most likely never be experienced by other MMO players, or players of any genre, or at least, not to the degree or magnitude that we were so fortunate to receive.
I know not whether to pity the millennials for being ignorant to the pleasure of anonymous virtual cooperation, or to envy them for never having to fill the void that is created when it goes away.
I should not come to these threads. Makes me existential.
I absolutely loved the Grand Exchange, though it undoubtedly damaged trading.
Couple of years ago I was playing again and tried having a bank sale. No one knew what I was talking about.
Broke my heart.
If you ever see a bank sale, hit that shit up, niggas selling items for pocket change.
>decide to log into old account for whatever reason
>check friends list
>shit ton of random numbers and letters
What in the world happened to my friends
>Lost a rune 2H sword and full rune set to Poisonous Tribesmen because I didn't know they had poison
I was fucking livid.
>Runescape - one of the greatest mmos ever created after U:O vs Neopets - some afking game made purely to siphon money from the parents of 10 year old children.
Gee I wonder which one wins.
You ever see end of eva? Yeah, pretty much that.
A couple years back jagex started going to old player accounts and deleting their names if they didn't log in any more so new players could get them
Anyone remember this? The sci-fi runescape that almost was? Or maybe stellar dawn, the reincarnation years later that mysteriously died again?
I remember hearing all the rumors about what the game was going to be like and i was so hyped for it, just to have my dreams crushed over the course of its long death.
>tfw Mabinogi has this
>caps out at 'over 15 weeks'
Well, at least you know when someone is fuckin' done.
Pretty much any other sandbox mmo out there. Runescape was a simplified Ultima clone, so any game that mentions Ultima as an inspiration should have a very similar skill system.
I don't think I've ever seen it done. And if I have it wasn't executed successfully because I don't remember it.
Mortal Online does it, I think, but that game is needlessly tedious, and I also think it has some form of paywall iirc.
It's nothing like it used to be but it's still going pretty decently.
Honestly it wouldn't be so bad in game if they just condensed the worlds, that way it'd be more populated on each world.
Then it'd be back to 1k+ people in most worlds as opposed to the 400 players in every world except trading realms like it is now.
Peak is usually 50-60 per day, highest we've had is 100+. It's been around for almost a year too so Jagex won't suddenly shut it down after you've spent a lot of time in it. If you wanna give it a try be aware that we had to move servers recently so we're a bit unstable, but it should clear up in a week or so.
>Roaming the wildy to solve a clue scroll
>See a white dot on minimap
>Logout and login to another world
>Hear this place immediately
>saradomin rips the wings off an Icyene when she embarrassed him at dinner.
What a nigger
>Playing RS back in '04 or '05
>trying to mine coal
>every world I go to is crowded as fuck
>decide to just log off and go to bed
>Wake up at 2am one night
>log onto RS because I can't get back to sleep
>all the mining spots are dead
Young me felt like he beat the system
>Make money mining coal in Al Kharid
>Finally reach level 60 and go down to the mining guild for the first time
