New Witcher thread
I'm sure we'd like to discuss some more shit.
>The issue of the engagement of Geralt was for us, the writers, one of the most difficult problems to solve. The trouble came from couple of reasons:
>- Many players don't know Yennefer at all. The forum is not representative in this respect, because it brings together the core fans and the game will be played by a wider range of people.
>- Triss was Geralt's partner in the previous installments of the game, but again you have to acknowledge the fact, that not every player will be familiar - for example, many console players.
>- From books we know, that Yennefer had a particular bond with Geralt. But the common experiences of Triss are livelier and more up to date. And sincere (because of amnesia).
>- Oh and do not forget about Ciri. She's not a sexual partner, but then, love life is not just about sex. If Ciri is back in Geralt's life, it must be assumed, that Geralt begins to look at the world with her mind (sorry enigmatic, but do not want to reveal the details).
Don't hold your breath. Everytime we manage to have one nice and civil thread, the next one is a fucking disaster.
Where were you, when Geralt became handsome, mellow, fatherly figure?
>The Evil that witchers fight stems from chaos, from actions aimed at disturbing order. For where Evil spreads, Order cannot be established. Instead of the light of wisdom, the glimmer of hope and the glow of warmt, darkness ensues. And in darkness you find nothing but blood, fangs and claws... like in the outskirts.
>Nicely put, but as young Cerro said to King Vridank on their first date: "Does it have any practical uses?"
>The right of witchers to live and function in this world has fallen out of balance, because the struggle between Good and Evil now plays out on a different battlefield with different rules. Evil has ceased being chaotic. No longer a blind, elemental power, Evil follows rules according to the rights it's been granted, It functions in line with treaties...
>That's progress. With more of us living longer, we can slaughter one another in the thousands.
>Progress is like a herd of pigs. The herd brings many benefits, but no one should wonder at the all the shit.
>Shit or no shit, witchers exist to slay monsters. How can i when the real monsters hide behind ideals, faith or the law...?
>Witchers will always be needed, no matter where that pig herd leads us.
I'm sorry but unless you are a bookfag (speaking of which, bookfags need to calm down about what is and is not canon. This is an adaption, there isn't any reason for it to follow the same plot) Triss should be your default girl. Yenn has gotten zero screen time and will more than likely will be a hyperbitch cunt. Triss, on the other hand, has been nothing but loving and helpful to Geralt through game 1 and 2. Also, you could always forsake both and be a stupid piece of shit that can't stop getting involved in politics.
I wasn't in the last thread so I'm sure it's been answered already: Did Ciri ever get fucked by a man? I mean, Kayleigh almost fucked her, Bonhart just groped her I guess and she never got to fuck the Elf King
I guess maybe she got the D from that knight of the round table she met
Yes. Post more.
yea, he is too handsome. even in TW2 the whores tell him 'you are ugly, but at least remarkable ugly.'
I loved when he looked TW1-badass-ugly
daily reminder to never support any elf groups in any TW game
My money is on Regis
he's probably still fucked up, so he wears a mask
it will never happen Witcher 3 concludes with either everything going to shit or Ciri becoming the empress
>not know this epic maymay
They are less boring, I give you that. And since its a vidya to entertain you, its ok to do elf routes.
But its not good if try to play with the lore and this fuckers are just terrorists.
I love my elves in Forgotten Realms setting. In TW I want them all to burn while hanging.
I fucking love Elves in Witcher
It always feels like Sapkowski hates them as well
>HUMANS ARE ALL INFERIOR
>pls disregard the fact that they fucking drove us out of every city we had built
>Kojima was behind the witcher series all along
the space elves never stoped chasing her
>This fucking imbeciles! Lets wait for them to die out, since their lifes are short.
>Btw, since we are droven out into some shit area and most of us are starving, do anyone of you know how this 'three-field crop rotation' works?
Gerald without mutations
and you had to get a mirror from her that makes anyone who looks into it think they are pretty and give that mirror to the ugly old witch, I really liked act to visuals and locations so I still remember most of the quests around Port Llast (or whatever it was called)
anyway, dryads are best girls, always
Elves are dying because they got bored of sex.
No really, that's the canon explanation.
Instead of fucking among themselves they prefer to fuck humans because it's something new, kinky and exciting to them.
Not just that. For some reason their reproduction works better with humans.
Every human cock made a elf pregnant. Its like elfs became more and more sterile towards each other.
And this is the story
how Nilfgaard was born.
You know jack shit about her and it's showing.
If you show genuine interest, I will tell you about her.
>yrw when you realized whites are the elves, and humans are the shitskins of the witcher world.
I just finished the Roche route earlier today. Kinda tempted to just jump in and start on Iorveths route. For my first playthrough I just went with a focus on dealing dmg with swords. What fun builds can you do in the game?
It was basically the same in the German translation, the book definitely pointed out that Vilgefortz knows how to kill vampires
Actually, thinking about it, I'd be cool with CDProjekt going "hurr durr but he was a HIGHER vampire" because then we'd get motherfucking Regis
What have you bought so far faggots ? I haven't picked anything yet but considering Far Cry 1-2-3 pack and Dishonored GOTY. Should i pull the trigger ?
Speaking of builds, will y'all be going for swords or signs in W3?
The gameplay looks more similar to W2 so swords will probably be OP again but I just cannot shake my nostalgia and subsequent hope that signs will be as great as in W1 again ;_;
>muh cute waifu
>muh pretty action girl
I wish they didn't go full anime with this shit.
i've read the books, i guess i missed the part where she decided to keep a trinket stolen from a dead witcher she never met, representing a school she had no knowledge of, from a man who tormented her
i guess that actually fits in with the trophy thing of the games, and it is practical since there is no wolf medallion factory anymore
I never really liked signes in the games.
In the books witchers barely used them and they were simple magical tricks at best but in the games they are suddenly powerful as fuck.
Magic is fun, it gets quite OP in end game though, you spam Igni and just watch people burn.
Alchemy is quite nice for that tactical element starting up, but it's seriously OP mid-game
Going with sword, since its your main weapon and just feels more witchery.
Sigils were OP in TW2, thought its a very initeresting way to (re-)play.
If the game turns out to be too easy, I'll also try alchemy
She actually finds one of each kind of medallion on Bonhart's body: wolf, cat and griffon.
She then gives the wolf medallion to Geralt (who was then using a shit copy made by Fringilla Vigo) and keeps the cat medallion to herself, as she feels it fits her style.
Got these from my GOG page. Gotta resize them to post though
when someone bothers to make it
>signs OP in W2
You seriously think so? I thought they were great until I actually did a swordsmanship build
I cut apart the Draug before it could even use its arrow ability once
Witcher was cool because it has all this realism shit.
Real sword techniques, realistically ugly faces, cities with rude poor people etc.
Now they're adding a qt waifu action girl with smudged eyeliner for anime retards to cum over.
But you fags will eat it up because MUH CD PROJEW CAN'T DO NO WRONG
DO WE HAVE FOUR PEOPLE THAT BOUGHT "THE WITCHER ADVENTURE"? IT WOULD BE COOL TO GET A /v/ GAME GOING!
oh baby, here we go!
dis gonna be good
I was initially shocked when I found out that the medallion Geralt is using isn't his own original one.
Oh well, I guess it's reasonable to assume that the one he had to begin with was passed on from a fallen witcher as well.
It is a mystery
Also featured: omg symbols so deep
>Witcher was cool because it has all this realism shit.
>Real sword techniques, realistically ugly faces, cities with rude poor people etc.
and beautiful elves
because, you know,
you fucking don't, bitchthis girl has an elven gran-granma, and her being pretty was established before CDPR fucking existed
now get the fuck out of my thread and read the books, or shut your whore mouth and read what people post here
>PDF won't let me save the whole original image
I hope Ciri will be able to do magic again, I got so fucking tired of "abloobloo I totally vowed to never magic again so I can't unless it's convenient for the plot"
I guess he's saying it doesn't make her a witcher?
>muh books explain why she has retarded anime eyeliner
SPOILERS: I actually read all the books. It was long before first Witcher was even announced (except that ancient never-released thing from thief era).
CD Project actually studied several books about sword fighting.
In W1 you've got some unusual "tricks" like halfswording and bashing niggas with the "wrong side" of the sword.
It's not all just Bioware style "sword is a mace" shit.
they had a real swordman do the movements.
the guy is back for tw3
we may see some movements from tw1 back in tw3.
>that glorious dev long hair
fuck you hard Witcher games have god tier sountracks
You guys are kidding yourselves if you think this game is going to be any good. The last two were complete shit, with 2 suffering from Crysis syndrome (praise the hell out of the graphics, but don't say shit about the terrible and boring gameplay).
I thought I had fun with the gameplay of both games and that I absolutely loved the writing and story
Guess I was wrong all along!
Read them in release order, i.e.
>Sword of Destiny
thank you for your invaluable input
you can now proceed to go fuck yourself with a chainsaw
guys im in the 4th chapter of the first game. I like the game so far (a few things have been spoiled but i don't mind). I really fucking hate the swamp though. Is there more swamp shit in the 2nd game?
I like most of the RPG's I've played but I guess The Witcher is kinda new for me. I guess my main question is is the Witcher 2 more fast-paced in terms of the story?
No, there isn't
Or like, 5 m2 of swamp
OFFICIAL GUIDE TO MAKING THE SWAMP NOT SHIT:
>disregard everything, run to location
>kill one Bloedzuiger
>run run run run
I find it kinda depressing how this is the end of Geralt's story. I mean, the games only cover like the last two years or so of his adventures after he came back... then it's over.
protip: he may or may not be a swordmaster, but the moves that he shows are almost exclusively weird flashy fantasy shit, as the animator guy said.
so it isn't a transition from semi-realism to flashy fantasy shit, rather then your personal suspension of disbelief breaking. this is not the devs fault for making the game too flashy, since they are about on the same level as they used to be, but rather yours for not knowing shit about swordcombat and thinking geralts sworddancing is anything remotely connected to realistic swordcombat.
unless you only blocked and parried in TW2
i pretty much just ignored everything and ran to location. The real frustrating part about the swamp is all the "fetch quests" that you needed to complete by killing shit in the swamp.
You've already fooled yourself if you consider The Witcher a good story. The books might be better - I've never read them - but the games are fucking terrible reinterpretations of them if they are.
Are you talking about tw1 now? I personally feel like 1 was varied enough although the swamp overstayed its welcome.
A single playthrough in 2 is shorter and I never felt like you stayed in one place long enough for it to get annoying.
No big capital cities though, well sorta Vizima I guess, but we'll get Novigrad in 3.
Oxenfurt is not possible to explore iirc. Something about a plague quarantine.
Which is fine by me, I'd rather have one big city and then smaller villages here and there so you can avoid the Skyrim effect.
Yeah I was talking about the witcher 1 (only one i have played so far). People said the combat was shit in the game but i honestly didn't mind it. Not everything has to be dark souls difficult. RPGs in my opinion are one genre in which you simple combat is not a big deal because its more about the environment/quests.
>Oxenfurt is not possible to explore iirc
OK now I'm fucking mad
>RPGs in my opinion are one genre in which you simple combat is not a big deal because its more about the environment/quests.
FINALLY a dude who started W1 without talking stupid bullshit about how it's not action-y enough
I never found the swamp too annoying but I just ran through it while disregarding everything
All the shit in it only gives you 1 XP anyway
>Not to mention the fact the game has nothing to do with the books.
I don't know what the fuck is going on
>>Anyone know about Witcher 1 choices carrying over all the way to 3?
Only the items, right?
I got the Raven sword from my save (it's complete crap after the Prologue). You can also get some other swords transferred over.
Chosing Triss over Shani in W1 doesn't matter in W2. You are shagging Triss either way.
>Yeah I was talking about the witcher 1 (only one i have played so far). People said the combat was shit in the game but i honestly didn't mind it
Combat in Witcher 1 is pretty fun, but after a while you just figure out that Group Style fucks up every mob you meet, so you just stick to that.
Thaler gives you a card and some shit, Vivaldi gives you a loan if you went okay with him, you can meet Siegfried is you let him live, Radovid remembers you and Ada.. it just little things.
>being friends with Siegfried carries over
Ah, I see. I chose the neutral path, which is truer to Geralt's personality in the books.
Book Geralt would never chose the Order or the Elves. You'd say fuck you both, I'm going home. Which is the neutral path.
I think this is where Oxenfurt is. I though it was the little island below it but that's actually White Bridge.
for some reason when i play the w1 my gpu usage randomly drops to like 20% and i get 30 fps. Not only that but the trade quarter is a fucking mess. It stutters like a mother fucker even on high FPS. Is the W2 better when it comes to this shit?
Give me an honest answer.
What the fuck are you doing here, in this thread?
Because normal, mentally stable people try avoid things they dislike.
Here is a concept art of White bridge which fits the geometry of the terrain on the map.
Are you using the GOG version?
For me, W1 played normal, no issues anywhere.
With W2 I had to struggle a lot. It's super intensive on the GPU, so you have to tweak a lot of settings to be able to play it with more than 20 FPS.
If your computer struggles with W1, don't play W2, get a better PC.
are you retarded?
tell me how you came up with the word 'town'?
maybe its a perfectly legal trading outpost like they were thousands in medievil times?
I bought the first book today , blood of elves. It gets delivered with that shitty cover instead of the green, crossed swords ibe. Gonna return it tomorrow, so angry.
Where do I get the right version? I looked everywhere..
it has more than 50
that's 5 times more than Solitude
Sounds like a bug, bro. Sorry to hear that, I had no issues with the gog.com version of Enhanced Edition.
Anyway, I haven't had any major bugs in W2 apart from high system requirement. There is some clipping here and there and bad textures, but performance is usually pretty good.
There is no such thing as "maxing out Witcher 2". There is a mode there called "ubersampling" where the game totally rapes your hardware with rendering everything at max settings twice. Nobody can run that and say they enjoyed the experience.
However, your rig would probably run Witcher 2 at high settings and max resolution. Probably will struggle with Ultra settings, but High is pretty good.
I have no idea how system intensive Witcher 3 is gonna be. I am buying a 5820K and gtx 980 for it, just to be sure.
ignore swamp monsters to not get annoyed by swamp
I also highly discourage rushing through the games just because you want to play W3
there's no harm in taking your time and playing W3 later
>I'm hearing bad things about a swamp.
Swamp is good, just learn the routes. Jus try to do the sidequests together with the main storyline, so you don't have to run around too much.
I read the books, so nil chances on getting trolled.
>being so desperate to shitpost about CDPR
thanks for the laugh, retard.
>bought witcher 1 and 2 in recent sale
>play witcher 1
>incredible awkward combat and movement and everything
>dialogue pretty awkward too
does it get better ? what would i miss out on if i import save file.
can you really use "resume" to mean summarize in the same way you say "resumee"?
since anon, asked. I don't completely agree with it, but it's not a bad list though.
>auto lock on
I fucking loved that because it's the best kind of control for PC
Then you see plebs like DSP who don't even aim at their enemies and complain when Geralt attacks someone else
there's no reason to have autolock, it's terrible
if you specifically give me the ability to manually lock on, what's the point
why can I not choose the direction of my attack
why are you forcing me to play through this badly designed combat system
can I just attack in the direction I'm facing? Thanks
Apparently there was one in the wallpaper folder
This one. I assumed they're all in this style, but I got that shitty newer cover
>read the books
>wait I have read this somewhere else
>realize they copypasted part of the books in the first game
She's been changed
>BUT IT'S THE ALTERNATE LOOK
No, the DLC is just clothing
>tfw won't be able to project my disgustingly ugly self into the game and live my power fantasy now.
He is right though. Grit, dirt and general realism was the thing that set Witcher apart from DA which had pretty generic clean fantasy aesthetic. Inquisition even borrowed bits of world design from Witcher. Ciri does look ginda out of place, then again, she should...
