I like to think of it as a sacrifice. Think about it: Smash Wii U has no discovered glitches. What if, in order to make a perfect, glitch-free game, Nintendo had to stuff all the glitches into this one copy that this poor soul happened to recieve?
Fuck, maybe this guy is like the jesus of Miiverse.
>Someone dropped this one on its head
>People believe this and the two-cannoned samus
Is it cool if the mold lines are all the fuck over his face?
Yea, ship it.
This problem is actually REALLY easy to fix. Mine had the same issue.
Literally as easy as cupping it in your hands and breathing on it to heat it up a little bit, which relaxes the plastic and helps you manipulate it into the proper position.
j-just fix it yourself man, just spend 15 dollars on a clearly broken product and fix it your fucking self.
w-who cares if the entire line shipped damaged... s-stop being so entitled.
>people are actually seriously fucking defending the build quality of amiibos
I'm not expecting a figma for $13, but I expect something that isn't trash. The action figures I had back in the day were like $7 and they could be posed and were about twice the size of an amiibo. These are $13, and while most of that is for the in-game function rather than the character on top of the base, I still feel it's justifiable to expect them to at least not look about on par with a chinese bootleg. The toys at the local mcdonalds have better quality control than this, I'm dead fucking serious.
/toy/ here. Stop being a bitch.
I'm not excusing the existing quality, which IS shit, but anyone who knows anything about toys and watches them from prototype to production would know that there's ALWAYS a drop in quality.
>but anyone who knows anything about toys and watches them from prototype to production would know that there's ALWAYS a drop in quality.
drop in quality? Sure. Look at these fucking things though. Seriously, tell me this is excusable.
NFC chips cost like 50 cents. There is no software on them either, they are just a single 16 bits of saved data. Literally just strings and numbers that save the tiny bit of data they need.
There's no way the $6 goes to the NFC chips. If any goes to the software, then you're buying something you already paid for because that's all on the games side.
This is a side by side of fox who is by far the best looking complex amibo and the current mcdonalds max steel toy.
While fox is clearly superior, if you look at the marth builds the marth is only slightly better
>He's never put salt and pepper, or soy sauce, or ketchup or anything like that on his meal after taking a bite and finding it's not QUITE to his taste
And that's not even a good analogy, because Amiibos aren't made to order.
This is like buying those microwavable, mass produced TV dinners. You can't tell me with a straight face you don't fiddle with those a little bit to make them more palatable.
>"At the moment NFC tags are 15 cents to 30 cents each"
Even 50 cents was an exaggeration.
You can look up suppliers too, they are generally around 30 to 60 cents.
You're a special kind of stupid, aren't you?
RFID chips or NFC or whatever, it doesn't matter, this shit's in all kinds of toys and electronics these days. look up literally any of them, NONE of them cost more than like a dollar.
Your analogy is altering the food to better suit your taste, which yes I have done, which would be like repainting the figure, not making it look the way it was supposed to look in the fucking first place.
Do you honestly think they're using some super special NFC chips that hold the exact same amount of data that people posted here into $13 toys? The plastic pellets for the molds would cost more than a single NFC chip. You can get them in trading cards now for pete sakes.
To a manufacturer like Nintendo who is going to do bulk order, a NFC tag is <$0.30 easy.
$13 is just a pure rip off for amiibo when you consider that the quality of the toy if below Happy Meals ones... (and these toys worth couple bucks at most).
All right even if you add few bucks for retailers and add few cents for the packaging, nintendo is still doing a huge margin.
He's most likely a yurobro. We put sign after here in most countries.
Yet you seem to think that nintendo is not only using some top secret super diamond encrusted nfc chip, but they also import them, and buy them at bulk without a discount per unit, and somehow this adds up the an nfc chip with the exact specifications as any standard nfc chip, but more than 12x the price. Right. He doesn't understand how Commerce works.
Yeah, they're OC versions for Ganbarizing. The gimmick is that if you use different Riders the OC Do Not Steal Rider gets portions of him as armor, and the main OC Rider card saves it. The problem is that every combination looks like shit, and the helmet suffers the worst.
>Yet you seem to think that nintendo is not only using some top secret super diamond encrusted nfc chip, but they also import them, and buy them at bulk without a discount per unit, and somehow this adds up the an nfc chip with the exact specifications as any standard nfc chip,
That's a whole shit-ton of completely baseless assumptions right in a row there, buddy.
Then explain how you think the cost goes from less than half a dollar to fucking six in your brain just because they sell the toys in more than one country. Because even without a wholesale discount you've been proven wrong in this thread multiple times.
I don't understand what we're complaining about.
Especially when you consider that the Amiibos work with multiple games, and Nintendo confirmed the NFC chips are more sophisticated than the read-only Skylanders and Disney Infinity chips.
>that currently costs less than $3 to produce.
Stop with this fucking nonsense. I've seen it a few times in the past week. They're a business. They want a profit you fucking dildo. They probably spent millions tooling factories to produce these things
I'm not defending the build quality, price, or Nintendo. I don't give a shit about thatand NOW they spend 3 dollars per unit to produce. STOP SAYING "X costs Y to produce" CAUSE IT ISN'T FUCKING RELEVANT. IT MAKES YOU LOOK STOOP
>one dollar less
>75% less quality control
no problem, right yeah.
If I was a parent and my kid asked for one of those games I'd... well okay I'd get them smash. But if they wanted the games specifically for the figures and their collectability I'd probably get them Disney Infinity.
That Skylander is a Swap Force guy which comes apart at the middle with a magnet. It has TWO RFC chips in it as a result, in addition to the fairly strong magnets and much more detail.
Compare it to a standard Skylander if you want to be fair.
No, that's the Official Nintendo Seal, which merely distinguishes officially licensed products with fake bootleg ones.
It's what they went to after they decided quality wasn't all that important any more.
And then they stopped using the seal entirely because they stopped giving a shit.
Pic related, it's what the actual Seal of Quality looked like.
Nintendo said it themselves!! They CONFIRMED IT!!
Nintendo never lies and only has the best interest of consumers in mind.
The plain fact of the matter is we have NO IDEA what chips Nintendo has been using, except that they're more advanced than the standard Skylanders and Infinity chips. They've been keeping that info very close to their chest. Also, it's Nintendo. You know they're shoving in some stupid gimmick to jack the price up that will be used maybe once, because that's their M.O.
Until we do know exactly what's in them, there's no way to make any kind of educated guess towards manufacturing costs.
>Complains about quality
>Accused of being a Nintentard
Are from fucking GameFAQs or some shit?
>Mewtwo was originally going to be free for those who own both versions
>people bitch about it because they don't want to buy one of the versions
>Nintendo make it so you can buy it
>people still bitch about it
It's never okay when Nintendo does it.
They're obviously not more advanced because they don't do anything extra.
Further, even if they are more advanced, there's no way they are more advanced to the tune of having the chip jump from 50 cents to $6. That's retarded. Nintendo would never fucking do that. No one would. Not unless it guaranteed like 3x as many sales, which it won't due to them not even saying what it does.
They're the same chips, Nintendo are just exaggerating.
>there's no way to make any kind of educated guess towards manufacturing costs.
Except there is a way, since there are hundred of products which use an extremely similar chip (PROBABLY THE SAME EXACT CHIP)
For a fraction of the cost.
>except that they're more advanced
Says fucking who? Nintendo? Why would I believe Nintendo when they haven't shown shit. It's the same shit, there's nothing there to jack up the prices - just Nintendo charging whatever they want because fucking retards will buy it no matter what.
>couple of data points
>thinks that means all amiibos are shit
Quit being silly, anon. Go outside to a store and observe the quality rather than making a broad statement using a few examples out of the millions released.
>Nintendo confirmed the NFC chips are more sophisticated than the read-only Skylanders and Disney Infinity chips.
Stop being so gullible nintendrone.
>mass produce toys
>only ones that are fuckups get shown on the internet
>therefore the entire production line was fuckups
you really need to know how many were manufactured with defects vs how many were manufactured as a whole to blame Nintendo for this.
The toy itself isn't even the selling point. It's the chip inside that you actually play with. They could have stuck an in-game picture of Mario on a coin with a chip inside and called it a day, but they chose to do this instead.
Probability states that when mass-producing millions of game discs, a small bunch will end up corrupted in some way. Out of that bunch, maybe 5 copies will be the perfect amount of fucked-up to be able to be run, but with some kind of weird-ass glitch afflicting it the whole time.
OP's picture is a case of just that. I wonder how it affects hitboxes.
that guy is really lucky then, or very unlucky depend on how you look at thing
i bet if he contact nintendo or even just return the game he will get a new copy, but doing that mean he will lose that weird ass glitch copy
here's a counter-argument, not saying its necessarily right.
the amiibos have been on sale for about 3 days. If an employee catches the defect, they'll probably have sent it back. people aren't buying them just for the figurines though.
when you buy a toy off of the shelf, usually you're not buying them the day of release. if you were, you would be more likely to find a defective toy than if you bought one months or even years after release date.
especially when you consider that Nintendo doesn't have a long history of making figurines (though it certainly has made them on a smaller scale in the past), it's understandable that there are defective ones. excusable? maybe, maybe not, but understandable for sure. Its not like the chip, the actual reason to buy these things, is affected by this.
At this point any tiny fuck up that Nintendo makes will result in a shitstorm calling out Nintendo.
Im surprised people havent used that single defect game disc saying that every single game is broken and full of glitches
>Im surprised people havent used that single defect game disc saying that every single game is broken and full of glitches
because i think they will get btfo very quick
/v/ is pretty retard but i don't think they are that retard
>mfw i saw that thread when the witcher 3 said they will have dlc, but all of them are free and all the faggots cry about it
>Im surprised people havent used that single defect game disc saying that every single game is broken and full of glitches
It's because they can't. They're grasping at straws and bitching about the amiibos of all things.
The game itself is absolutely fluid and beautiful with exception to things like what >>273178642
The graphics are superb too. It's really hard to not notice every little detail they put into each character's design when I pause the game.
they cry because they see the word dlc
and the op was baiting because he only list the part said 16 dlc and didn't mention them being free
you can guess what happened with the rest of the thread
Do you think amiibos are canon?
Are they deepening the lore?
>if you were, you would be more likely to find a defective toy than if you bought one months or even years after release date.
The thing is, people can't wait with these. You have like a one month window to get these and that's it, then Wave 2 comes out, and Wave 3 comes out in February I believe.
oh, they're a limited time thing? I didn't know that.
it would be nice if they found a way to do it electronically. making it a physical object is just a weird way to do it.
but totally nintendo-esque in having people buy peripherals to offset other costs.
Because that's just what happens to soft plastic, either due to a mishap at the assembly or just gravity taking it's toll. I used to collect Transformers figures, and if you left certain props or pieces in the wrong position, the same thing would happen. There are tons of shit that's wrong with Amiibos, but don't blame them for a problem that's A, easily fixed, and B, an issue with almost any figure or collectable that uses this material.
There's no reason to complain about it's cost when the same thing happens on a 50$ toy.
>one copy of a game has a bizarre bug that distorts the graphics
>sony-fanboys jump all over it like wolves on a three-legged deer to continue their "NINTENDOOMED" obsession.
>oh, they're a limited time thing? I didn't know that.
some of them are, because not all character that appear in smash will have other games to play with the amiibo, like mother for example
rest assured that the popular ones won't ran out anytime soon
My Kirby and WFT ones came out pretty bitching imo, and the Donkey Kong one looks pretty good so far I've seen, the Marth one would be alright if it wasn't because of the face.
Kirby's pretty damn good in genereal, but it's hard to mess a sphere with two eyes and a mouth. WFT depends on your luck, and Marth's sword and paint job is a mess too. Villager's face is a sad, sad affair.
wouldn't it be more likely that the disc is defected?
i mean if it is the console, it should affect more games but it is just my guess anyway
also im surprised that nobody come in and say shit like "serve him right for not getting the digital version"
>it's ok when sony does it.
That said, i like games with glitches as long as they dont keep you from progressing or fuck with your data.
Let's try this again. My samus looks fine.
>reggie, iwata, miyamoto, bill trinen and the rest are showcasing their prototype amiibo's at their desks at work funded by dumbfucks like you buying chinesse knock off tier amiibos
they say thanks
Jesus, the argument isn't that the anon doesn't give a shit about the subject. It is that the anon doesn't give a shit about the specific problem that everyone is bitching about. He sees the Amiibo subject and does not find a problem in it because his Amiibos are fine.
So the figure can look good for cheaper while still looking relatively the same as in the game.
Misplaced paint, off-centered features and awful colored blocks are no subjective affair, most Amiibos (except Kirby, most Marios and Yoshi) look bad.
I dont know
Its a good excuse to put diverse characters that are very different from each other under the same artstyle without much issues. They also have a huge variety of characters, I believe they wanted to save time and money when designing each one bot in game wise and figurine
Stop getting shit amiibos like Link and Marth and maybe you'll have good quality sculpts.
Again, I looked at the Amiibos in person and they're all pretty bad.
I fact, I kind of talked shit about them in front of a Nintendo employee that was showing the game and the figs at a small Melee tournament. I felt bad for him.
I'm pretty sure the screens are rendered through instructions processed through your WiiU. The tablet streams from the console, but the console doesn't stream from anything itself.
Wait wait, haven't you heard the tourneyshits? Those are legit, they knew they were in the game. Nintendo said so.
What they neglect to mention is that the glitch was known as but they couldn't rewrite the entire engine to fix it. So yes, it's a glitch, and no it wasn't intentional.
That's not more advanced behavior. In fact, it's "less advanced" (same tech but w/e) than what Skylanders' doing, because every fig from a prequel works on a sequel and can be reused in the original game, whereas Amiibos are read-only in games outside Smash and if they're ever write/read, they'd have to be reset to store different data.
Which is because of software, not the hardware.
The original Skylanders work on all four Skylander games, and the Disney Infinity characters work on both of those games.
They are all capable of working on multiple games.
LET'S JUST COPY AND PASTE FUCKING SHIT FROM THE FIRST BATCH
>And the winner is...
>people expected Figma quality from a 12 dollar happy meal toy with a microchip planted in it
We could at least expect Skylanders quality from figs that cost more.
>real life now works in polygons
That's not how things work anon, can you point out things that are wrong with the Spiderman figure?
Where? Swap Force guys don't count because they're two figures, not one.
What a petty complaint, I expected better from you. It's nowhere near comparable to the Amiibo problems.
And it looks worse than the amiibos
>in a single copy of the game
>LOL NINTENDOGAF STRIKES AGAIN
I showed prices, if you wanted to see the real fig here it is.
As someone who has actually played with Bushwhack, that's false. It's much, much bigger than an Amiibo and there were no defects on the two Trapper Skylanders I've seen. The trappers are a jew move because they're not as complex as Swap Force but whatever, they're still a completely different ball game compared to Amiibos.
Alright then, explain what you mean by
>spiderman on disney
why don't you? Because it can mean many things, including
>implying spiderman is a disney character
>implying spiderman is on the disney channel
>implying spiderman was made by disney
It seems to me you're the one who was only pretending.
I have that same Godzilla fig
Is that thing in the background one of the other ones from the set?
Yes it does. And Link is twice as big as that skylanders figure.
If you are still trying to argue that the skylanders figure is a better value than link, you are wrong.
Its about $2 more for twice the size.
So you're telling me the Kirby Amiibo, one of the best looking of the sorry bunch, is a bad value because it's smaller compared to the Link figure with an ugly face and a piss block?
Nendoroid buyers must be jelly as fuck right now.
Thing is, just because Nintendo opted for more detail doesn't excuse the fact that the general quality is really low. I'd much rather pay $13 for a great looking minimalist figure rather than a more detailed figure that can't manage the quality for that detail.
Hey if you don't like it, you know where to go.
Sakurai always lies
why the hell you gave Ridley qualities of playable character (stock icon, knock out of the stage, player icon, dodging, final smash, smash attack) if you don't want him be as a fighter but a normal stage boss?
and why's Ganondorf isn't representing his series and character then?
>yfw it's the little mac/mii/villager situation
>>one copy of a game has a bizarre bug that distorts the graphics
>thinking it's just one copy
Every Wii U and copy of smash bros have the same exact lines of code
It's not exclusive to one copy
Are you that fucking dense?
Not saying it's a bad thing though, it's hilarious to look at
>online match video posted
>this video not posted in thread at all
>lel u retard XD
one dude didn't call you a retard, he asked why you didn't lurk, which is reasonable
since the fucking video has been posted in nearly every goddamn thread that talk about smash bros
Ya know, I think I've finally realized why this shit looks so unsettling...
Save it for the Ultra Super Extra Hyper Championship Turbo Fellatio Edition that drops in 6 months for just $39.99!
There's no right way to update fighting games. At least DLC is instantaneous garbage instead of the slowburn that is a revision release.
No, they actually don't. The only time mods ever delete any posts or ban anyone, is when they're shit-posting or saying anything negative about Nintendo or Nintendo fans.
Two wrong halves of a Samus model were mistakenly glued together
YFW there is a Samus model out there with no arm cannon at all.
>The entire video game industry does DLC
>Nintendo follows suit, no one complains because it's become the norm.
>/v/ somehow thinks this is because Nintendo gets preferential treatmeant
>Entire industry has big system updates that take a while to execute
>Nintendo follows suit, no one complains much because it happens to all other systems
>OH OK, ITS OK WHEN NINTENDO DOES IT!
>Season passes for games have been a thing forever
>Nintendo follows suit years after everyone else has implemented it
>HURR NINTENDRONES WILL DEFEND THIS
>Skylanders and Infinity have half assed figurines with chips that were never really meant to be collectibles with top quality detail
>Nintendo creates their own version
>OH OK, I GUESS IT'S OK WHEN NINTENDO DOES IT!
I have no dog in this fight, but watching you retards willfully ignore the obvious to claim that another group of people are willfully ignorant is going to give me a fucking aneurysm.
But you're right this isn't a meme. It's a blanket complaint people use so they can bitch about something they don't like with no intelligence or thought put into it. It's the "muh feminism" of the console fanboys.
>They're a business. They want a profit you fucking dildo.
So that excuses gouging prices to squeeze more shekels out of your fanbase?
You're the kind of retarded consumer that greedy companies like Nintendo have wet dreams over.
Yes that is correct. In most legal systems Nintendo would be held accountable if it was proven they choose a shit manufacture and didn't ensure they did quality control.
For current reference, see the shit car compines are getting in cause of a air bag manufacture.
It's a shame, you can tell by the comments that the guy is an idiot and doesn't appreciate or understand the situation at all.
Someone asked him how he felt about it and he said he was "very hurt". what the fuck?
Except /v/ shits on other companies for doing all of those and always have. Especially Nintendo fans in particular, who used to brag about how amazingly based Nintendo were for NOT doing DLC and shit like that.
Then the moment Nintendo does it, /v/ suddenly changes their mind as says "Well actually it's not even that big of a deal anyway"
No, there were never people who bragged about how amazing Nintendo was for that, because they knew it would change. The reason people say it's not that big of a deal anyway is because the sad truth is that it isn't, DLC and all that shit has become the norm: so how could it possibly be a big deal?
>Except /v/ shits on other companies for doing all of those and always have
Yeah, and "It's ok when Nintendo does it" is they way idiots complain about it right now because they have no original thoughts and are just parroting smart-ass non-sensical shit they've heard before.
It wasn't the majority by any means but it was a pretty common post yeah. In more nuanced news, you'd always see "no DLC" mentioned as a plus in console war threads before the 3DS/Wii U.
Anecdotal posts aren't enough to validate what you said. Besides, even if it was validated, it doesn't change how stupid it is to complain about "It's ok when Nintendo does it"
>you'd always see "no DLC" mentioned as a plus in console war threads before the 3DS/Wii U.
So... You're saying that not having to worry about DLC shouldn't have counted as a plus?
Does anyone remember the Melee glitches with Dr. Mario? His cape could break the physics with so many characters, it was hilarious. Ness floated through the floor when hit with the cape. Falco teleported to the other side of the stage. Shit was bananas.
Damn, people weren't kidding when they said that Nintendo characters had zero depth
I do agree that the "it's ok when Nintendo does it" posts are some of the dumbest, along with "HE", "eyes can't see above 24fps" and "nogaems". They're just trying to cause reactions. Doesn't change that /v/ does have a tendency to gloss over problems if they concern Nintendo, especially seen with the broken control pad threads.
>you're saying [no] DLC shouldn't have counted as a plus?
Not at all, I agree with that sentiment, and I feel /v/ should stick to its guns even if Nintendo doesn't.
>one is worded as to try and instigate shit flinging among almost every fanbase on /v/
>other is asking a tired, but nowhere near as inflammatory headline that actually has a .0001% chance of becoming a civil thread
>Doesn't change that /v/ does have a tendency to gloss over problems if they concern Nintendo
If this is actually what's happening how come when threads devolve into console shitslinging there are always far more "when Nintendo does it" posts than posts defending Nintendo?
I know I sound like a Nintendrone, but this is just a huge trend that has been going on for a while now. I'm just generally curious why Nintendo gets so much more hate than Sony or Microsoft at this point.
>why Nintendo gets so much more hate than Sony or Microsoft at this point
I'm sorry mate, but that just plain ain't true. Nintendo's the only non-PC platform that can post screenshot threads without devolving into shitposting. Xbone, Vita and PS4 threads are shut down as soon as they start, whereas Wii U threads have potential and 3DS are making it ok. The whole board got multiple threads about the Smash announcement, that kind of attention to anything else would be called shilling or redirected to /vg/.
That's the way it should be for all compagnies, by the way. I'm just saying Nintendo has it easy.
>come here expecting funny thread about sanic smash
>instead find console wars and shitposting
fuck you guys
And do you want to know why? It's the same reason why the PS3 was praised (and shat on) on /v/: /v/ loves the underdog.
SONY MASTER RACE HURR DUR
NINTENDO MASTER RACE HURR DURR
It's the same shit, and it won't end.
