>gun that is a 1-shot kill with 100% accuracy
>in a game where you move at snail speed
Yeah, sure is great idea right there. Not in any way ruining the game
>only counter to awp is another awp
I rest my case
>Posting the same picture and thread over and over again.
>cherrypicking comparisons between two different games trying to do two different things
Counter strike is meant to be sorta realistic. Quake throws reality out the window.
Though I never enjoyed anything that wasn't some sillyshit map or surfing in CS myself.
>newbs can't handle realistic effects of movement on aiming so they made movement not affect aim
HOPEFULLY he's talking about more than just the weapon, which while annoying is easily countered. But the reflection in the scope is wrong, and on a side note in my opinion the whole game sub-par not bad but I'd rather play source or 1.6 (these paid weapon skins are getting out of hand)
this is the fucking cutest thing holy shit
pic related somehow
the AWP is a one hit body shot perfectly accurate gun in a game that really has no reason to have that.
it should be 2 to the body and 1 to the head. I'm an ex pro 1.6 player fuck off almost everyone in the scene agrees but nobody says anything because when you git gud with the AWP you can dominate anyone. Pub smashing is a fun pasttime
And before any faggot attacks that post for comparing a 'realistic' fps with an arena fps:
CS doesn't feature key elements that should be present in a tactical shooter:
>no blind-firing around corners
>maximum of 4 grenades
>encumberance doesnt matter, just whip out your knife lol
>no magazine management, just reload after every round
MM? Better ranked? CS is only played because it's cheap as shit, can run on almost anything, and is quick to reward players. It's like sugar. And while sugar is sweet, eating is raw will rot your fucking teeth out.
So you enjoy your sugar. I'm going to be over here snacking on my imported chocolate and occasionally indulging in candy corn.
You have to be holding still in a game where holding still gets you killed to be 100% accurate with an AWP.
People move fast enough with lighter guns to rush an AWP. There's plenty of ways to overwhelm an AWPer.
What the complaint is: "My skill isn't enough to take out another guy with an expensive gun with my own expensive gun."
So buy a shotgun, some flashes and smokes, and go to town.
no nigger, that isn't long. csgo doesn't have dynamic reflections I'll give you that, but that's because the engine is a bandaid patch of a 2004 engine which in turn was a bandaid patch of a 1998 engine which in turn was a bandaid patch of the quake engine.
the AWP is pretty balanced in GO, I don't know what you mean. Maybe it's annoying in deathmatch where economy and positioning is thrown out the window, but in the 5v5 game it's fine.
You can beat an awper with a rifle about half the time if you don't give the awper a favourable situation.
>Mfw I can't enjoy CS:GO because no MP5
I miss that HS beast.
eh, cs was just a mod by one dude. it was hardly a big conspiracy to create a casualised fps. at the time it was fresh and the teamplay was a beautiful thing. I know quake has a higher skill ceiling but who cares?
>my toy takes more skill than your toy
srsly m8 you need some vagina.
No, CS is only 'popular' because of valvedrones. The game was fine before skins, there were actual community servers and matchmaking timers weren't that bad. If it takes microtransactions to get more people to play it, the game is better off having a small community.
Crippling visibility is a completely uninteresting way to increase difficulty.
>What is hyper-reality shooters
>Comparing Quake to CS
In GO recoil patterns are not RNG, though each will look a tiny bit different because each bullet has a small spread RNG. But at short-medium distance that doesn't affect the result much and players who practice the recoil control will still be able to spray better than someone who is new to the game. This is such nitpicking.
You realize that the sprays are so similar this doesnt matter right? Even if they were the same no one is going to be able to be perfect with it at a very long range, you hold the button down like that when they are close, in which case it doesn't matter. Follow the tracers
It's a shame, but balancefags always get the last say in these types of games because MUH COMPETITIVE COMMUNITY
I don't think I've had an ounce of fun in SC2 outside of the campaign, and I find CS:GO to be a deeply stressful experience.
>not destroying awp shitters with the scout and humiliating them in front of the whole server
Do you even understand the point of PvP?
>That feeling in a fast-paced FPS when you run up to someone you find dishonorable as them and half their team are trying to shoot you, and facefuck them with an axe in front of everyone.
>Silvers in charge of knowing how to play CS
i-i-dk if u wanted me 2 post this or not
here it is though...
where to start (mostly concerns smash as a whole)
>platformer with fucking analog stick moving
>2 jump heights: big and small, nothing in between
>generally very stiff air control
>momentum not carried to running jumps
>overreliance on analog stick, e.g. tilt-smash
>fucking tap jump is enabled by default
In pure matches these might not be such big problems but with anything resembling actual platforming, like Smash Run, it's evident that the controls are horrible and full of artificial limitations that only serve to make the movement feel slow and stiff.
Salty CS fags detected. CS was the Halo and CoD of its time and along with HL, fucked up FPS games irreversibly.
ITT people who would get shitblasted by any decent cs player at both cs and quake. AWPs get beat by smokes/flashes, ak headshots, etc. CS is a well designed game for organized 5v5 but not very well designed for pubs. I'm someone who got bored of cs shortly after source came out and turned out to be bad and 1.6/earlier versions got boring after years of playing.
>CS was the Halo and CoD of its time and along with HL, fucked up FPS games irreversibly.
This always boils down to
>get killed by weapon a whole fucking lot
>assume said weapon is easymode
>since its 100% as available to you, try to get lazy frags with it
>turns out you suck just as hard with that too, get rolled by lesser weapons
>insist that the gun shouldnt be in the game at all so you can play around in your comfort zone with zero wakeup calls
Really. Those that can destroy with awp-tier weapons, do, or ignore it in favor of lower-tier weapons as a testament to their skill. Those that can't, say that nobody else should get to and that the skill ceiling should be lowered so that they may feel tall.
First Person Shooters are not real games. They are an illusion. A glorified reaction timing tool. If you think of every FPS as "if you point your mouse here and shoot, you win" you will become enlightened.
>You didn't even name a better game.
Better team-based shooter than Counter-Strike? Dystopia. NS2.
I don't play many shooters these days. I wish there were more good ones that stood out other than the big franchise games like Battlefield, CoD, and CS. The entire genre has sort of died out.
The genre overall is pretty dead/awful now. I can only enjoy more tactical shooter fps like Red Orchestra 2 now.
I'd love a proper Battlefield game EA won't allow it, the series just turned into another cawl of dooty casual arena garbage.
>Almost everything in the Arena FPS section can be used to describe CS
Take out hitscan and insane speed and you just described it.
>playing mindless shooters
Might as well play CoD
>tfw played cs since 90s
>tfw played quake since 90s
>tfw played unreal since 90s
>tfw played tribes since 90s
>tfw played painkiller since release
>tfw played shootmania since release
So basically im sitting here looking at a /v/ thread primarily inhabited by people that have less than 20 hours logged on games and think they know shit.
A solid 5% of posters in this thread know what they're talking about, and everybody is just throwing casual rebuttals at them
It's not the norm, it's the same just harder.
The effectiveness is toned way down, but when things get competitive and people get specific timings in their heads, a ha;f a second's difference is pretty big.
>seriously thinking that shooting a slow-moving target ANYWHERE on the body with an instagib hitscan weapon while using a zoomfov constitutes something with a high skill ceiling
You must be fucking terrible at FPS.... The AWP in CS is literally baby-tier
I'd consider anything balanced yet unfun for players, or fun for a small subset of players when its in play while being unfun for the rest bad game design.
I think the AWP is balanced and has a strategic purpose in competitive mode however it is bad design since it is not fun for all parties and feels "cheap."
It's a just a way to keep people from staying still and introduce a mind game element sometimes. There are other ways to do that.
The actual counting part is just noninteractive busy work. Doesn't really matter.
