Probably WoW. Dumped like 500 days into it and always find myself going back to it. I've never made it more than 6 months without resubbing for at least a month.

As far as the game with the most time invested, that would have to be TERA at around +1300 hours. I haven't played in months, but come December I'm sure it'll consume most of my time again.

It isn't actually that hard, as someone who only started playing it and strategy games generally within the past few months, it is essentially just a dynasty management game.

Losing in the game is arguably a lot more fun than winning it. So it being hard isn't necessarily a bad thing.

In my first game I managed to rise accidentally to the top of the Byzantine Empire as a woman with gonorrhea, a penchant for impaling people on spikes and obsessed with blinding people. Swiftly I was deposed and became a mere duchess again on the edge of the Empire.

That's a terrible thing to do for a new player. You will have tons of vassals to manage and no outside threats.

Good starts for beginners are small to medium sized kingdoms with few vassals and good possibilities for expansion. I suggest trying out Poland if you want it easy, or one of Spanish kings or dukes for some reasonable challenge.

Also, Ireland in 1066 bookmark is considered to be tutorial island. Start as one of counts or dukes and try to become the king.
