BL2 fucked over a shit ton of the stuff BL1 did well. It became grindfest the game, and you couldn't hang onto a gun for more then 5 levels. Everything about the story was overall worse outside o the villain. Character balance somehow got worse, with the skilltrees being even more minor, or ineffective, in their effects.

Pirated it yesterday, played it for about 4 hours total. The whole "misogynistic this and that" bandwagon is full of shit. First character has made one lesbian reference in the hundred things she's said.

The new skag monsters are really annoying, what with splitting apart, and then having a delay before you can attack the smaller ones. Actually... most AI is pretty shitty. All enemies just stand in one place after they've begun shooting at you, so it's basically just popping heads one after the other. The only boss fight I've done was actually pretty alright.

To sum things up,

>Weapons are varied/don't feel stale from the first game
>Loot system is a little overdone, as if being used as a crutch
>Driving is a pain in the ass and is pretty poorly done
>Gunslinger class feels incredibly underwhelming
>H20 drops with almost every AI kill, almost to the point of having added it been pointless but to allow more shit to pop out of bodies and lootable objects
>Mapping is pretty sloppy, and the low gravity thing they brought in means they're also trying to have players scale up cliff sides and buildings, but invisible roofs/walls happen often

All in all, maybe a solid 6/10. It's not terrible so far, but I sure as shit would never buy a copy.

Most games have pretty shitty AI. I did like that they dodge for cover when you start shooting them sometimes, although it seems pretty on and off. The O2 stuff does feel a little stupid, with it not ever running out and everything dropping O2.

So far I've found a few neat hidden areas like some sort of boss in a lava fall, which was neat, but as you said it's sometimes hard to get to places because seemingly for no reason you'll just start falling back down

That one character making the lesbian mention only talks about how she wants to have sex with the woman behind the bar. That is all she talks about. All she talks about is women she has slept with, and a woman who she wants to sleep with.

This woman behind the bar is also been nothing but a very promiscuous bartender for the last two games and is now a full blown engineer out of nowhere. And most of what she talks about is the woman who wants to sleep with her.

I find the writing to be flat, the characters to be one to, sometimes two dimensional. Further, the gameplay itself is borderlands with low gravity, and high elevation.

That is, everything is just barely out of your reach without throwing a grenade at your feet. Invisible walls, again, plague the game, though this time worse than ever considering the crux of low gravity is getting to places by increased elevation, which they restrict whenever possible.

The gunplay is copy paste. The characters are a little more boring. The actual environments are giant swaths of nothing where they have enemies pop out of. The graphical pop-in is atrocious, just as before.

I give the game a 4/10. I got very bored after about 5 hours and deleted the pirated copy. 5 is average, this is below average. This is, 'I care so little I won't even shit on it' levels of boredom here. I wish I cared enough to shit on it.

The writing is absolute garbage all the way through. More often than not I'd rather kill the questgiver than whatever target they give me.

Anyone got any tips for Athena? I'm going with the shield centered tree since I'm playing coop, but it doesn't really seem worth it since there are never enough enemies on the screen to make it worth using. Enemies that keep respawning out of little hidey holes are really killing the shield ability.

So Anthony Burch will probably kill himself or leave the company after his wife leaves him for good, so I guess that's something to look forward to.

I don't mind Borderlands as a series that much, but Gearbox is easily the worst thing about it

It's basically a floaty Borderlands 2 with new skill trees.

Seeing as I got many hours of enjoyment out of that, I'm having a really good time so far. If you didn't enjoy Borderlands 2 for any reason, you'll have the same problems with the new game. Otherwise, tentatively worth the full price depending on how long it turns out to be, definitely worth full price if you're playing with others.

It's available for ~$45 on GMG, or at least it was earlier today. A little upset that I missed that, but fuck it.

O2 kits replacing relics as equips and the whole boosting mechanic turned out to be surprisingly entertaining, but still wouldn't be enough if you just got done with another Borderlands game.

I really think $60 is a bit unfair. It really feels like this was originally planned to be Borderlands 2 DLC, but got extended at some point in development. I would have really appreciated a rework of the in-game menus. They're still a fucking pain to navigate with a mouse and keyboard.

It's actually one of the better ones in the game because of how varied it is, too bad it's random.

You can use most of the vault hunter skills at random from the previous two games, slightly tweaked to actually be useful. Lilith's for example, instead of making the player go into the phasewalk, summons a minion claptrap that uses the blight powers against enemies like Deathtrap. Zer0's keeps you invisible the entire time even if you attack.

Plus you have more action packages to unlock but whatever.

He forgot to mention the giant axe (psycho/krieg action skill counterpart) also releases an explosive nova when activated. Also, I think that one restores all your health when activated.

He also forgot to mention the bouncy one makes all the other players constantly bounce too, it also deflects bullets according to what I read. I can't confirm that though, as I haven't gotten it.

All of the results are dependent on the current situation on skill activation (it will also show you the "reasoning"), so if your friends are low on health but you're fine, you'll more than likely get the medic result which turns your gun into a medic gun, similar to the TF2 medic's.

Some of his skills also unlock more abilities for his action skill.

Doesn't seem like that. I'm only level 8, but there seems to be only few addons (you can buy 30 min buffs from Moxi and there is an item grinder, eridium - now moonstones - has more uses (you pay for the buffs and can use it with the grinder). Enemies are different, yet the same.

The guns are as unsatisfying as BL2, but the boss encounters could be better designed.

The most irritating thing is how the first NPC you encounter shoves in your face that she's lesbian. Mr. Torgue tries to hit on her, gets rejected and yells "friiiiendzoooone", but later apologizes to the player for that because it's misogynistic. It's so cringeworthy that it's almost unbearable.

The additions like low gravity on O2 are completely gimmicky.

Hand guns were compressed, meaning there's no technical type distinction between revolvers and repeaters.

Eridian guns were replaced with "E-tech" guns in BL2, which instead of using renewable batteries, uses twice as much ammo for energy based attacks. BL2 also added Slag element, which is an element that, when it procs, doubles the damage of other elements.

Presequel replaces(?) E-tech with Lasers which now use their own ammo. Cryo is added as an element which freezes enemies. I'm not sure if Slag is in this though.

I keep failing these jumps with the car in Serenity's Waste trying to get to Concordia. I use the boost and get up to speed but I keep falling short of the other side. What am I not doing to make these jumps?

It is. I was in the Gearbox forums for a short time when 2 launched, going to the moon station, playing as a claptrap and ice element were heavily requested from the community. I'm certain that they started it as DLC first and decided to make it a standalone game after the huge community requests. That's why no one should buy this shit.
