Why is Dolphin so perfect?
How's it run with Fraps? Using an i5 and a 7900.
>i7-4790K @5GHz too
4790 is 4Ghz(max4.4)
>pretty much the best CPU for Dolphin.
Dolphin devs clearly say there is no advantage in using i7 over i5 for Dolphin, unless you're on a laptop, and in that case theysuggest 4700MQ and 4930MX.
>Still requires hardware five times the power of the Gamecube/Wii to run many games at a playable speed.
Every emulator requires hardware that's a lot more powerful than the emulated hardware.
Ask and you shall receive
Can it play SoA:L at full speed with good audio yet?
Last few times I tried I had to play with no audio, or deal with fucktons of popping and a huge fps loss.
I also had that issue with paper mario, but without the FPS loss, just tons of popping audio.
The limiting factor for dolphin would probably just be the gpu if you are on a laptop, and that laptops throttle their own power to save batter life. Plugged in, an i7 2.3 ghz should be fine with lower level ps2, gc, and a fair amount of wii games, as long as the gpu was capable, which it probably isn't.
GTX 750 ti, lets me run dolphin at 1920x1080 with some enhancements fine, I start to get fps drops in F-Zero GX when I turn on anti aliasing in some courses.
Nigga, i can and my pc is an uber toaster at this point.
High 90s. Never reaches over 100. Running at 1.4v.
Gameplay is flawless in-race but pre-race has the occasional audio crackling and lag. Another game that I get lag on is Tatsunoko vs Capcom (which I assume is due to some buffering shit because it goes away after 30 mins of playing the game).
5Ghz on air too. Using U14S air cooler. I only run it at 5GHz when I play with emulators like PCSX2 or Dolphin.
I am aware of that. The unlocked Haswell Pentium (which is a dual core) can match my i7 at the same clock speeds at Dolphin. I do other weird shit on my PC, I needed the i7.
Try turning on as many speedup hacks as possible.
That game has issues at time with even high end machine.
Try brawl or project m if that is more your thing, it emulates really well for some reason.
What cpu? I have an i5-2500k.
Also, I turn on the majority of the speedhacks.
>The unlocked Haswell Pentium (which is a dual core) can match my i7 at the same clock speeds at Dolphin
That's because Dolphin only uses 2 cores, even if you had 16 cores it wouldn't change.
More than 2 cores is useful only if you're running other shit while using Doplhin.
Anyway, what I meant is that, unless you're on a laptop, an i7 is not the best CPU for Doplhin, not that you don't need an i7 at all.
Legit? As in it works? Yes it does.
>an i7 is not the best CPU for Doplhin
Any unlocked highly clocked desktop Haswell processor would be the Best for Dolphin, hence why I run my CPU at a whopping 5GHz because it reduces the occasional lag that I get at certain points and makes it lag less. Not a placebo in case anyone finds it questionable.
Yes. I use dev builds. If anyone use Nvidia cards don't forget to set it to high performance in the control panel because it will go in power saving mode and lag the shit out of Dolphin.
Brawl emulates well.
Using the current dolphin build and any decent intel cpu + any decent dedicated gpu should run it if you've got speedhacks on.
Impressed, this is from my old as shit Intel Core i7-920.
is there a reason why when I try to run specific games they run REALLY fucking slow?
I have a r9 270x and everything thats not those specific fucking games run like smooth as fuck, but when I play those games they get so slow it fucks with my head
im guessing its my AMD fx 6100 piece of shit processor
Looks like it's struggling.
Troubleshoot. Try to run the game at native settings and see if it lags. If a game is ran at native settings windowed the GPU is being used the least and you're assessing the CPU mostly.
Always set the Dolphin to a high performance mode in your graphics card panel. I'm pretty sure that 270x is no bottleneck, but I suspect it's the FX6100. You can try OCing but it might not be worth it if you're on a stock cooler.
There is 2 moment where it "freeze" like 1 second and those 2 moments where because I pressed F9 to take a screenshot, read the description, it runs 60fps 1080p no problems. I took screenshot I posted on a thread like a year ago, I dont have those anymore.
Never got an answer. Anyone here record gameplay? How does Dolphin handle Fraps or other shit and what setup you using?
Found 1 screenshot on my dropbox (at work right now).
Lucky me, actually found the exact 2 moments where the video stutters while capturing the screenshots.
ive already tried running the fucked up games on every possible setting
I heard that dolphin only utilizes two cores and shitty fucking AMD is MOAR CORES so less power for each one
ive seen vids of people using my grafix card on those games with max settings like 4x native res, widescreen, AA, anisotropic filtering, etc
and they all have fucking intel CPUs
fuck you AMD stop making shit CPUs
Did you tried the latest builds? There was a huge performance improvement like, a week ago.
Also use xAudio2 engine on a separate thread and try to not use AA or AS.
Alright, played a bit of the opening area. Shot with AA off, because I forgot to turn it on at first.
Only one fps drop I've seen, and that was in the opening cutscene when both ships initially came into view.
No, but the G3258 is the best bang for buck processor for Dolphin. If you overclock it, it's pretty much the fastest CPU for Dolphin tied with the i5s and i7s, i3s don't count because they're locked CPUs.
>get insane FPS drop whenever i enable any kind of AA at all no matter how low my other settings are
If you guys want even more of a speedup, get the unofficial Ishiruka build from the development forums.
Its got Async shader generation which means shit doesn't stutter when it loads an effect for the first time, like a falcon punch or something.
>can't play on original consoles because they output to shitty 480i on modern TVs
>official releases inject unnatural filtering in even when you deselect the option
>emulators can't into proper rendering and upscaling
Playing pre-gen 7 games is suffering.
>gen 7 games are all shit
>gen 8 has no games
Playing games is suffering
I know they are, but I regularly interchange the terms for IRL people who don't understand what an ISO is but are familiar with the term "rom".
It's not hard at all, it's just a GUI for emulators cores. It's quite easy, the only thing that was tricky for me was getting the PSX bios installed. Other than that even a baby could do it.
Never had that kind of error before, what kind of phone do you have?
IF YOU WANT TO PLAY FZERO GX
Use DX11, turn on MMU and MMU Speedhack, turn off sync thread to gpu, and enable all the special ASYNC SHADER GENERATION SHIT mentioned in the op's post.
It'll be unstable and it might reset, but as long as you don't do shit like alt tab to much you should be ok
