To be honest I'm less than impressed.

It's fantastic, but I really would rather be playing it on Wii U.

I loved the inclusion of Wii Fit Trainer, and not in the waifu-bait kind of sense. Duck Hunt Dog and Pac-Man are great as well.

Clones like Lucina and Dark Pit are whatever. I don't terribly mind them but I'm not crazy over them, either.

If Bowser Jr. counts as a "joke" character, I like his inclusion and how he counts for all of the koopalings, but I don't like the clown car nonsense. It doesn't seem to fit with the character(s).

Love it, I play a shit ton of Smash Run and For Glory 2v2 with occasionally 1v1. My biggest complaint is the lack of hitstun.

I like the new Smash game but the 3DS version is pretty bad in a lot of respects. I pretty much just consider this practice for when the real version comes out.

It's good but has some bad problems. Players live too long, defensive play is king, tons of campy/spammy characters and aerial movement feels like shit.

I'm starting to actually feel frustrated just watching matches because you can tell the players can't move like they want to an account of there being so few reasonable approach options.

IMO it's going to go the way of Brawl. Once the novelty wears off and people start noticing the game's flaws, interest is going to drop off.

The problems don't just affect competitive play. They make the game less fun in general. Even at a casual level Brawl doesn't feel that good to play, even if people do still play it for whatever reason.

To make it clear I'm not a competitive player at all and really have no stake in what game people prefer. But there is a reason that interest in Melee has endured so strongly for so long. It feels good to play at any level.

Its okay. I wish I could have contained myself on buying it Especially since I bought it digitally so I cant sell it back the controls are horrible and I'm losing way too many matches because of it and the game is lacking content. Which makes sense for a handeheld but doesn't make it any better.

I love the way the new characters play and I can't wait to play them on the console version.

Loving the game so far. This roster is by far my favorite roster. The clones don't bother me much as there aren't as many as people say there is (7 clones on a roster of 53 characters isn't a lot). I've played better. The stage selection is poor and the run physics are about as clunky as the last installment.

Every stage being awkward as fuck or final destination with no middle ground is the most disappointing. A stage hazard toggle in place of the FD form would be just as large on the cartridge and make a lot of stages with unique platform layouts fun to play on without getting interrupted by bosses or other huge-ass side tracks.

Aerial movement in general feels like shit in Smash 4. You are so restricted and have so few options that being in the air alone puts you at a huge disadvantage to a player on the ground.

You know it's bad when players who get knocked in the air would rather float over and grab the ledge than land on the stage or try to attack their opponent because of how unsafe being airborne is.

They're certainly smarter and faster, but like any AI they have their faults. I've especially noticed Charizard's AI going a little insane when he's trying to recover.

That said, I'm enjoying it. The AI is a huge improvement and I love it. The combat feels fluid and intense, trying to play Brawl or 64 after it would be a nightmare.


But the game modes are where it starts to fall apart.

Classic and All-Star are both underwhelming and far shorter. They should've stuck with a normal map rather than this weird "quickly choose a route" thing. No Targets/Race to the Finish in Classic is also a major let down.

Smash Run is also really disappointing. Five minutes of Sub-Space tier gameplay followed by a completely random match. Considering how much it was talked up, Sakurai really fucked up with this one. Online could've easily remedied the issue, but oh well.

Too many old stages. While they're good stages, they make the map selection feel smaller than it is.

Still too similar move sets and Final Smash attacks. I was so damn certain they would change Toon Link's set up, but nope. He could have at LEAST used the Wind Waker to summon a cyclone as the Final Smash, rather than copying regular Link.

Who is the "safest" rushdown character? I main robin and tend to win most of the time, but fuuuuuuuuuuck are the matches slow. I just whittle them down with arcthunder/thoron/elfire and then try and go for a grab or a fair with levin. Very slow and steady, but guaranteed results. I want to play a character that can just constantly rush down and not get punished easily as fuck. Marth was good at this for me before but his shit feels so nerfed and I get my dick handed to me every time.

Agreed on those. But there's no way they'll make the Wii U selection smaller. If anything it'll get bigger.

My most nit-picky complaint is the new Classic map. I either want pic related, or a normal fucking map I have full view over and can select the next level. This behind the camera choose your route shit is claustrophobic.

I do have a big complaint though. No more scores, stats, and special names for moves and awards during Classic and All-Star. Why do you rob me of this, Nintendo?

One thing that bothered me since I love reading trophy descriptions is that they don't have a little reference in the corner saying what games they appeared in. Sure, it might be obvious for some characters, but sometimes I want to know what exact game they came from, since hat's how I found out about Sin & Punishment through Saki's trophy.

his side b is completely different, his up tilt has slowly morphed into a totally different move, his up B has different properties (shoryuken hitbox), his forward air is a totally different animation and has different properties, forward tilt is a thrust kick rather than roundhouse, he has a super strong stun single jab in lieu of a AAA combo.
