Literally every usable character that isn't Robin or Chrom is forgettable as fuck if you don't use them. Even characters introduced early on like Lissa and Frederick are forgettable if you don't use them.

Tharja is a whore, and Miriel is constantly in situations where her focus on knowledge gets her in trouble, making for entertaining support conversations. Her criticals and general dialogue are also pretty good.

I don't see anyone saying anything about Tharja other than she looks good, and that she is, as I have said before, a whore.

There are dozens of FE characters that are worthless in their games that would have been better off if they could reclass.

Ok so again: why not customize those too? Those create an imbalance between characters and make some clearly better than others. By the same argument you used to try and justify class changing I can use to eradicate caps and growths. Have all characters have access to all classes, same growths, and same caps.

It's already stupid that anyone can be the same class and the only thing that differentiates them at this point are growths and caps. And if they're willing to take the step to allow anyone to be any class, what stops them from going for custom growths or having growths tied directly to classes instead of characters?

Just because they're adjusting the amount of freedom you have doesn't mean you should be given ALL the freedom. It's not that black or white.

All class changing leads to is cookie-cutter teams with same min/maxed classes. There is currently no reason whatsoever to have any male be anything besides sage and any female be anything besides dark flier, except one token physical attack combo. Then you have your buffbots and staffbots, and that's it. No one will ever be any of the 20 other classes because you can switch out of them.

While they can't be ANYTHING, they can be enough different classes that it doesn't matter. Particularly the children. Because you keep saying that introducing infinite class changing is fine. It's an example of introducing customization at the cost of character uniqueness. If you are willing to defend such a change, then why not things like growths being tied to classes instead of characters? It's not black or white but it is an issue of "when is too much?", and in my opinion allowing extreme freedom of class changing is too much and is bad for Fire Emblem
