this series was amazing
played through each one, and DS1 was best at bringing the atmosphere and it had a pretty basic, yet polished combat system

DS2 felt more like its predecessor than DS3, however DS2 also felt like it brought more unnecessary stuff into the game and therefore felt less polished

DS3 was another type of game, one I actually enjoyed when playing with my friends co-op, it wasn't as good as DS1 in terms of bringing the atmosphere, but I feel like the combat and weapon crafting systems were pretty well thought out and implemented

DS3 was a leap back at literally every area from the predecessors.
Sound design, graphics, level design, combat, weapon balance, resource management, atmosphere, enemy design and story.
It was fucked the moment they focused on making it a co-op game meant to play with your friends.

I almost wish there was more to the Dead Space games or that there was a spinoff, as in it wasnt a horror game. Its got a great sci fi aesthetic and Id have liked to have seen a shoot shoot of some sort with those fire controls/hud/environments and suits.

This here is actually the entire hud. Those squares at the top represent your health and they get faded out unless you get hurt or pick up health. All weapons have visible ammo-counters.

The developers talked about this and they said they wanted as little as possible on the screen to not hurt immersion and let players really dive into the game in a "what you see is what your character sees" kinda way. Back then i thought "yeah that makes sense, surely all games will follow this philosophy in the future because why wouldnt you?"
