I have always used to be a fan of horror games.
But recently, my nerves have become more weaker than before.
I used to play horror games like Silent Hill 2 and 3 alone in the dark and enjoying being scared.
The SH2 hospital and the mirror room in SH3 freaked me out.
Homecoming and Downpour was Meh.

You're in this fortress with this insane mad scientist who experiments on living creatures, the whole area is you fighting his various fucked up monstrosities, and then towards the end you run across these creatures from out of the blue, they were this guys' parents, and they are fucking fucked up, look at them, it looks like the guy was cutting up various creatures and sewing them back together, so you fight them in a really hard pitched battle and then out of the blue they like wake up, the colors change and music gets really quiet, and they stop fighting and start talking to you. They say they are so sorry, but they are no longer human and then they say they love you and kill themselves.

Rule of Rose is the most a game ever disturbed me because it's like a real life horror story.
No ghosts or monsters that you know could never actually get you. It's a totally twisted recollection of half-truths about bullying and abuse. Having your dog beaten to death, being buried alive, being stuffed into a bag with horrible insects, the sexual abuse, and psychopath caretaker. If there was a "Based on a true story" sticker on the box it wouldn't seem out of place.

Believe it or not, that beginning and reveal scene at the beginning of Wolfenstein: The New Order, where you learn what actually happened when B.J. did the inhale, exhale thing.

At that point in the game however Deathhead makes you pick a character to sacrifice his brain for his Nazi science, both characters were at that point well received and developed, so it was hard. In the beginning of the game, it just cuts to black, but at the end of the game the final boss is actually the person you picked brain inside of a robot complete with dialogue that says shit like "kill me", and the ending scene actually shows in brutality the procedure used to get the person you choses' brain.

I accidentally got Silent Hill 4 when trying to dowload GTA San Andreas from DC++. The whole thing about a kid being abandoned in his home and growing up to believe that an apartment was his mother was pretty disturbing. Not to mention that he tried to "wake up" his mother with a ritual of sacrificing 21 people. And when the superintendent mumbled about the umbilical cord he had kept for some reason starting to smell, I was all ewwkay? I could almost smell that shit when I got to the super's room.

Needless to say I got the rest of the SH series after that. That's how I ended up playing the series basically in the order from worst to best.

It caught me off guard, and looking into it online didn't help. It may look goofy and stuff, but that is a secret official ending to the first game. That means, in an alternate branch of the game, that Fox disappears without a trace to his friends and instead dies alone in an entirely different dimension populated by living paper planes and rapeface planets.

When I realized there was ambient whispering/chanting in Nightmare Creatures as a kid, even while paused I think.

When I played this as a kid it always gave me a strange feeling. Like something wasn't right. I don't have the stomach to play Manhunt, which bothers me because it seem like an interesting series.

It wasn't really disturbing, but it gave me a sense of dread that I never get from games.

In SCP containment breach, I had always feared the 'Old Man' because of the way he slowly walks after you with that drum beat playing. Reading all the details on him also made him seem like something that was truly evil. That's why I was afraid of him, not his appearance but instead the story behind him.

I eventually stumbled into a room with a heavily locked door and a sign that said it led to his containment cell. With a picture of his grinning face staring at me from the sign I first thought to just leave, but curiosity eventually caused me to enter his 'home'.

When I stepped inside I was on a balcony overlooking a massive room, so gigantic that the corners of it were hidden by darkness. In the centre was that giant ominous cube, surrounded by an electric fence and levitating quietly above the ground. I found a path that led me down to the ground level floor, and seeing the cube up close, where the Old Man hibernated, gave me some sort of uneasy feeling. Like the place was evil, and I wasn't supposed to be there - I've never felt something like that from a video game before.

I was filled with dread, so I turned to sprint out of the room. I didn't hear the drumbeat playing, I guess, because when I turned to leave the Old Man was returning to his home.

For such a low budget game, I didn't think it would do things like that to me.

Help me out here, there's this game that I'm not sure is even out yet but I need to know the name so I can keep track.
I've only seen webms of it. It appeared to take place underwater but for some reason I keep thinking it might have been in space.. I think it was in first person, or maybe it wasn't, but it was showing a clip of floating through water or space when this big creepy thing that looked like a sea monster slowly floated by. It actually looked a lot like that outer wilds thing posted earlier.
Another webm, and I'm not even sure if it's from the same game, had to be underwater. I think it might have been in third-person. There was a radar going so you could see in the dark, and it showed a sunken ship. Then the ship appeared to grow legs, and it seemed as if there was a giant enemy crab-like creature was using the thing as a shell.

The problem with the Cradle is that the enemies are too vulnerable and there are too few of them. Plus after just a short time of playing, no part of the ambience could be mistaken for something that is actually dangerous to the player, it's just a vaguely creepy background soundtrack. The way you could create horror with real tension would be that you could never know if there are still monsters around. At least the lights don't stop flickering if one of them dies near a light, to give you that one extra moment of uncertainty.

Condemned is a game where you have body awareness and you can see your own shadow. One time there was a glitch in the shadow mesh, and when I walked behind a wall into a dark area, the body cut out a bright area from the shadow, with the exception of the eyes. There was a bright anti-shadow of a humanoid form, with dark circles where its eyes should be.

I took a screenshot but I don't have it on this PC. This is a recreation in MS Paint.
