You can tell who the casuals are when they say Future, the sequel that removed any difficulty, was the best.

Honestly, it's just a different kind of game.

JSR was designed more as an arcade game, with time limits and scores.

JSRF was more of an action platformer, with free romaing and exploration.

Time limits are great if we're stuck in 1985 and have no other way of making a game difficult. This is several decades later.

That said, I do miss the police chases a little bit.

The whole cultural movement that JSR was based around has largely died off/ died down, so it doesn't really have that cultural flavor anymore (unless they just did it anyway as a retro thing). Add to that inline skating has really taken an image (basically going from a general youth thing to mostly a form of transportation for homosexuals) and the game really doesn't have much left to offer the market.

start over from the beginning, do each planned chapter, stick to the language rule that was originally going to be in it (lots of languages, ryo would learn them as he's exposed to them), and don't be afraid to include mature mature in a nintendo 2nd party title

They had, I was a huge Sega fan during the 90's until their death (pre-2003 sega is still my favorite videogames company) and I know that pretty much every single talent they had has left them, Yu Suzuki, Yuji Naka, Rieko Kodama, Makoto Uchida and others. It's really sad because Sega had a much different style from Nintendo and brought a lot of diversity for the industry.

Main problem is slowdowns. The issue isn't as bad on the solo copies of the game but if paired with sega gt then buckle up for them in the crowded streets.

On a scale of shit to JSR how good is future?
I've done a little looking into it, and I think some of the redesigns are bad, and I feel the setting is weirder, but I keep hearing the mechanics are better, so it can't be all bad

also is it true that if you beat the game in under 8 hours you unlock every character?

Future is bretty good, but it's kind of another beast altogether.

The original game is really dependent on momentum and the way you spray means you require planning ahead for many, many things.

Future shifts its focus into going fast. Faster. With no reason at all. If you lose momentum while grinding in the original, you're fucked.In Future you can just do tricks and you'll regain it. That along with the turbo... yeah, it's mostly about quick acrobatics.

I love them both.
