>you will never again be a gamer in the late 90's early 2000's
Do you remember back when bright led's and over the top cases were popular?
Back when you used to go to lan parties and play 1.6, quake, unreal and various half life games.
Bro out in front of your ps2 or xbox.
Loading your gear up in your rusty beater with a big subwoofer so you can go to your bro for the whole weekend
Being a gamer will never be that cool again
I fucking miss it, but now I'm old and have responsibilities. I just wanna go back and be care free again.
CRT was still the biggest and no one even bothered with flatscreen monitors.
Today everyone play online games with eachother while having skype running, and those few who get together usually bring laptops
You were a real badass if you had a chieftec with locking door in the front.
And even badder if you a had a pentium 4
I may be the only one still stuck in the past, but honestly I really fucking miss it

They didn't exist
I remember loading up deus ex for the first time. I remember sitting in my comfy little chair in a dark corner of my comfy little room, wrapped in a blanket playing sims one winter.
I remember hitting up my friends on aim and messenger waiting for my offspring tracks to finish downloading on morpheus; Linkin Park blasting through winamp in the corner of my 1024x768 desktop.
Games felt so expansive back then. It was so much easier for my imagination to connect and for me to just get completely lost in a different world.
Everything was new and exciting and the internet was still relatively new and there was this big amazing world out there full of surprises and secrets and mystery.
Now I can't go ten minutes without seeing some dude crush a glass jar up his shitter or some random mexican getting chopped up by a cartel. Hardcore porn is all over, I can't stop looking at it. The mystery is gone and all that is left is a cold, brutal and hopeless world.

The nice thing about laptops for LAN parties nowfor me at leastis that one doesn't have to unplug the monitor power cable, the RGB cable, the ethernet cable, the PSU cable, the mouse, and the keyboard, move all that shit to whatever transportation your taking, then move that shit AGAIN to your spot ad your friend's house, THEN do all of that AGAIN when you leave.
With laptops it's get the laptop, charging cable, and maybe a keyboard+mouse and you're good.

Tfw you've probably hosted your last lan
In the future I hope to be rich enough to afford a house with multiple rooms in which I would transform into "portals" to different time eras. For example I would have a 90's room with only 90's technology and video gamez. No cellphones and essentially an internet dead zone. Dbz posters and shit. Next would be an early 2000's room that's essentially a lan room with fat ass CRTs and early 2000 video games.
Nostalgia fagging at its finest.

If it's any consolation, you aren't missing out on anything special. People still have LAN parties, and with far less fuss than they did all those years ago (although the fuss and hassle was always part of the fun).
The impression I get from reading all these posts is that people mostly just miss their childhood/having friends.

It's quite difficult, since most developers only offer a digital copy for PC users.
It felt so good to stare at your stupid window with the LEDs bright as fuck and remember you built your PC. It was a great feeling.
my family did not have that much money so I would go to my friends house, that motherfucker had direct tv(porn channels) he had a pc with starcraft and command and conquer red alert and a ps2
I remember staying until like 11pm in his condo playing games and my parents would walk around screaming my name for me to come home

so I would take shits outside behind trees and clean my ass with leaves so I would not go home and wait until my friend got to his condo so we could play all night

It's not as if you're an insufferable piece of shit that people are entirely justified in hating, right?
In 20 years time I'll look back at the 2010s and become nostalgic over the general era of getting mad on an imageboard, complaining about every single game that releases, PS4, Steam and Wii U.
