this could just as easily be an advertisement for the game
Some on broke a pink 3DS? probably some hormonal trans psychopath.
My 3DS survived Mario Kart, Kid Icarus, and it will survive Smash. It doesn't even take a whole lot of force to do Smash attacks on the thing, so people are acting like maniacs and flinging the circle pad everywhere like it's a control stick.
>Implying it is ok when anyone is doing it
If it was happening to more than like 10% of the people I would say yea, nintendo should really fix that, but the fact is most game hardware made today should be able to handle the average player who is able to control his or her emotions decently.
i'm loving it
now you faggots learn that portable consoles aren't fighting games machine. It actually isn't even a 3d game machine, this circle pad shouldn't exist in first place.
SAKURAI DESTROYED HIS ARM MAKING VIDEO GAMES
HE THEN MAKES KID ICARUS WHICH DESTROYS THE ARMS OF ANYONE WHO PLAYS IT
NOT SATISFIED, HE PUTS SMASH BROS ON THE 3DS SO YOU WILL DESTROY THAT TOO
THE MAN CLEARLY HAS NO REGARD FOR ARM COMFORT/HEALTH
THE GUY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING THAT STANDS BETWEEN THE HUMAN BRAIN AND ONE OF HIS GAMES
>tfw mine ripped of during Tomodachi Life.
Have you not met the average smash player? Have you not SEEN their controllers? I don't let people use my shit for a reason.
>control sticks beaten to shit, missing, or just ripped the fuck off
>people playing with nubs for a control stick
>face buttons either get stuck or fail to register
>damn controllers look dirtier than an alleyway bitch
>hearing them play is just the sound of the stick slamming and shoulder buttons being mashed
Never will I let someone else use my Gamecube controllers. Not unless they can show some fucking decency.
how do you think I feel? my 3ds came with those lines
>buy fisher price toy
>not expecting it to break
>trying so hard at fucking smash bros against CPUs you break your nub
They deserve it.
I posted a thread of mine breaking about 3 weeks ago, and everyone was throwing shit at me for not taking care of my handheld.
Now propably one third of them has a broken circlepad too. Eat shit faggots
>people play like a maniac and rip off their circlepad
>blame the game
inb4 someone actually sues nintendo for this
>Create neat-looking 3DS XLs with Smash on them, thinking of picking it up
>Turns out that they're making new ones, so I might as well get those
What a bunch of dicks. If you're going to announce a new handheld variation, you better make goddamn sure that it comes out within a month of you announcing it.
I cant put too much pressure or force when using the circle pad or else it'll get stuck.
I've been playing my demo very tamely, because it's pretty obvious that if you want to go hard you'll screw up your 3DS.
I'm not willing to do that, so I'm just going to take it easy with the 3DS version to unlock things.
When the Wii U version comes out, that's when I'll start abusing Gamecube controllers.
>People trying too hard and playing like maniacs break off their Slide Pad
>"Fucking Nintendos fault!"
>Dualshock 4 analog sticks wear down and fall apart after 4 hours of use
>"It's obviously trolls sanding them off!"
>Get the smash demo because I'M A PLATINUM FUCKING MEMBER WHO HAS 2 WII U'S
>Open up smash
>Face a level 9 bot because I know I can handle it
>Get fucking floored
>Get really angry
>Jump on my 3DS and scream
>Somehow it breaks it half
What the fuck?
Mine broke. It is a DEFECT in design or manufacturering.
I am not strong. 115lbs with fingers that can't open waterbottles without help.
I do not slam the stick.
I am gentle like foreplay.
It still broke.
imagine being such a sub-human retard-strength mongoloid that you somehow manage to rip through several inches of plastic with your thumb while playing videogames
US amazon has them for 14$. Search for Circlepad Cover.
Otherwise I'd check ebay
I have some friends that I practice playing melee with because we want to try to play in tourneys to meet new people and have fun.
>inb4 >tourneyfags >fun >lememearrow2daknee
The friend I practice with tries as hard as he possibly can to beat me (as to be expected when trying to test your limits to improve) and almost every time I beat him he goes into some kind of DK mode and starts screaming and hitting things like a maniac. After a few seconds he snaps back into reality and we pretend none of this ever happens.
I have a feeling he really thinks I'm shit at the game and feels insulted by the fact that I beat him.
Oh my god, you people will bitch about anything.
ALL analog sticks will break if you abuse them like this. If you break your 3DS by being careless, just suck it up and send it in for repair / buy a new one. Don't try to blame Nintendo for not taking care of your own stuff.
The rubber pad came off my launch 3DS maybe like 8-9 months ago. benn looking to replace it but I'm not so sure anymore because I find the rigidity of the bare cap to be less slippery. I like it a lot better to be honest. Once I upgrade to the N-3DS I'm going to have to import one of those stick cover shits.
Bought these caps back when the 3DS launched.
I hope they help.
Titles should be
>some people are destroying their Nintendo 3DS' circle pads.
Stop handling your fragile handhelds like a goddamn ape and they'll hold together for years.
>destroying the pad with a fucking demo
>Mine is like new and I've played the full game for 3 days.
Learn to play like a human being you fucking failures.
>Linking to a Neogaf thread that links to a Kotaku article
>mfw smash releases and i play it for hours
>mfw my nub never breaks because i'm not a fucking spastic chimp autist
Happened with mine too.
You can lift it up a bit and it will be fine for a bit, but if you do it too often, your rubber will come off too one day.
That's what happened with mine From about 600 hours Monster Hunter
what happened to motherfucking nintendium?
My god damned gameboy (original, not that faggy pocket shit) is STILL functional. Popped some batteries in and was playing tetris on the shitter not even a week ago.
>Making fighting games on handhelds
>Making fighting games on a handheld with a poor control setup
What a fucking dumb move, I really hope you faggots are buying it on the Wii U instead
Why the hell couldn't Nintendo just do this in the first fucking place?
It never ceases to amaze me how desperate Sonyggers are to try to make Nintendo look bad.
People playing a fighting game can get overzealous and break their controller? Fucking bugged joystick mechanic.
Do you people play like apes? I exert only enough force to push the stick and I can't imagine it breaking from that. You realize you can CLACKCLACKCLACK with the 3DS, right?
>inb4 it's okay when Nintendo does it
It's clearly a problem, I won't deny. Why did they even build the stick like that anyway? Couldn't they have built it like this, having the rubber part wrap around the plastic part, rather than just gluing the rubber to the plastic?
They propably will. I bought them two after about two years, but my circlepad was already flattened and streched in width so they didn't fit on it anymore. Now, that my circlepad is replaced, they fit like a charm
does this actually stop it from breaking? isn't this just a larger pad so your finger doesn't slip off? if anything wouldn't this make it MORE succpetible to breaking because there's more weight on it?
>Someone playing on 3ds
>They use their nail on the analog
Not to worry, Nintendo® has a new, more durable 3DS™ on the way, and it'll only set you back 200 shekels!
Sort of related.
My little sister's dumb friend broke her 3DS, it looks like the right hinge snapped right off. It still works though.
Has anyone tried repairing the right hinge themselves? I'd rather just pick up a hot glue gun than send it in for repairs.
My rubber tore off a month back, so I bought one of these. It certainty helps
The dpad corners are fucking busted
What the fuck?
>play the fuck out of everything N64
>get grinded plastic dust all over the control stick well
>spinning that fucker like the world's ending during mario party
>smashing it thousands of times playing original smash bros
>never stopped working
That shit was decent build quality. Even when there's a plastic piece being ground into dust over the span of years it still worked.
What the fuck is this 3DS shit made out of?
>mfw played shitloads of games over the years on every console imaginable and have never worn down a controller
for fucks sake I still have the dualshock that came bundled with my PS1 and use it frequently for emulation despite using it for hundreds of hours already on the real hardware
I've never even had an N64 controller wear out on me, and I had that for even longer than the PS1.
Only time I've ever had a controller wear out is when I lent it to somebody else and they mangled it with their retard strength within the week that it was in their possession
>Chimping out because you suck at the game
There's your problem, fella.
better question: why don't they get rid of that retarded as fuck Dual Screen layout and only use one proper screen?
It was gimmicky on the DS, but on the 3DS it's just bullshit, especially if you have the 3D activated
Need to check something on the lower screen?
Enjoy having to refocus your eyes for the top screen to get the 3D effect
Why am I just now realizing how much Wario is like a stereotypical Jew? This was definitely intentional
Exactly. I've had my 3DS since before the price drop, don't even own Smash or have access to the demo, and mine's like that. It's still perfectly usable, and I could easily use some super glue to stick the rubber bit back on. I'm just too lazy to do it.
more than 10% of platinum worth customers in countries with and without nintendo club didn't get smash demo and they didn't fix that. they wouldn't give a shit about this either
My retarded brother fucking does this.
"My dualshock 4 broke in one day. What a piece of shit"
"I have to buy a new 3ds again. What a piece of shit"
It doesnt help that he's autistic as fuck and doesn't cut his fingernails at all.
I've never let him come for a visit. He always fucking breaks something
I don't need to prove myself to you bitch.
This. Same thing used to happen with the analog sticks on the N64 controllers. Mongoloids would batter them and then cry when it got loose and flimsy as shit. Meanwhile I had the same controller for the life of the system.
I have a couple of controllers that just don't go back to neutral. They're limp. My "Hey, You Pikachu!" controller is a-okay, though. To be honest, I didn't play the N64 very much. Setting up that damn game is a pain.
Im sure it has nothing to do with the Jap release and demo coming out.
This isn't the first hardware issue with the launch model 3DS. My fucking 3DS has a manufacturing issue where just by closing it a few times the screen will get vertical scratches because of contact with the bottom screen.
And of course Shitendo Europe won't replace it under warranty.
All you have to do is buy a new 3DS. And a new new 3DS of course.
It's OK when Nintendo does it!™
>that dirty screen
the circle pad is the least of your worries
I told all of you motherfuckers this would happen, but you didn't fucking listen. Right when the new 3DS is gonna launch, huh... Yeah, fuck all of you. I'll be playing the Wii U version with the GC controller.
Broken gamepads? Sounds like a good time to buy the new 3DS goys.
No faggot, that would be ideal and make too much sense.
>I have a couple of controllers that just don't go back to neutral. They're limp
Yes that's the deadzone. But it never stopped you from performing a smash attack or a dash did it?
This is my point. Even though the N64 control stick was a pile of shit it literally still would not break unless you actually wanted to make it break. This 3DS thing is just goddamn retarded.
For anyone who simply had the rubber slip off the circle pad, you can fix that with a little superglue. I had mine slip off two days ago, and I managed to fix it by applying a teeny tiny bit of superglue on the plastic circle, spreading it evenly, and then reapplying the rubber cover. I haven't had it slip off since I tried the superglue. Ah, superglue. Fixin' 3DS and staining the cloth on my Batman figurines.
I'll shed some light unto this.
People breaking them are the ones that spend more time playing melee intensely than they do playing anything on the 3DS.
They're not used to playing on a handheld and treating the pad with care.
You shouldn't worry about it breaking as long as you're used to playing on a 3DS.
I'm playing the full game competitively online and my launch 3DS is still like new.
If you treat it like a gamecube controller it WILL break, but again, you don't need to be agressive on the 3DS pad to perform competitively.
Maybe if he cleaned the damn thing and too better care of it his picture would makes sense.
>using the analog
And people say its competitive?
That's dirt man...not scratches, well at least for me, it always wipes off.
Nope, but you do have to accept the fact that you've got the grip strength of the average woman. DS pads break with minimum exertion, you'd really have to be a skeleton piece of shit to not even wear it down.
Thats why they improved the 3D on the new 3DS.
The front cam now tracks your eyes and adjust it to your eye position.
The second screen is also pretty handy. I don't mind when my TV or PC monitor is scrambled with HUD stuff, but on the small 3DS screen, it would be unbearable
>rubber pad is glued to a plastic nub
I'm not gonna deny the people breaking it are probably rougher on it, but at the same time the design is fucking retarded and there's no excuse for it.
"Must be handled by rational and deliberate people" isn't a winning design for a video game controller.
>Super SMASH Brothers
>game features SMASH attacks
>SMASH attacks require players to move the joystick quickly in one dorection
>3DS cant handle too much of this simple movement.
>Nintenyearolds will defend this.
Then again most of these pictures don't have broken joysticks, the rubber protection just came out and it is easy to place it back on.
>Spend hours in demo code threads
>Every code doesn't work because some other faggot gets to it before me
>Now I know they broke their 3DS
FEELS SO FUCKING GOOD
SERVES YOU RIGHT FAGGOTS
THERE IS JUSTICE IN THIS WORLD
this is autism rage, you retard. oh my god. why can't people figure this out already? Is it because your dad rages like an autist at football games so you think it's normal to? Guess what: your dad has autism
GBA micro wasn't backwards compatible to GB/C
DSi and 3DS aren't backwards compatible with GBX
and out of the homeconsoles the Gaamecube 2 is compatible to the Gamecube and the Gamecube 2 HD to the regular Gamecube 2
so it's not like dropping compatibility is a new thing
Nintendo doesn't seem to ever want to use a D-pad for anything. But then again you're asking to map analog 360 degree movements onto a digital input device with only 4 directions.
yeah, my sister destroyed gamecube d-pads with her spastic fuckery too
if you guys just calmed the hell down you wouldn't break shit
>3DS pad is a piece of shit
>STOP PLAYING LIKE ANIMALS ! NINTENDIUM GUYS !
>mfw 9/10 of these pictures show that the autist who fucked up his 3DS has long ass nails and probably uses them to move the stick around
GEE I WONDER HOW THESE THIN SOFT RUBBER PADS KEEP DEVELOPING SHEARED SEGMENTS
>all that grease, dust, fingerprints, dirt, hair and fuck GODDAMN
This is a common and well known issue for many people using the normal 3DS. But of course Nintendrones gotta drone:
I'm a little worried.
Actually, my Circle Pad broke on my old red 3DS XL that I got back in June 2013. I either had to get that fixed or get a new one entirely. And thus, last June I got my Zelda 3DS XL and I've been taking super good care of it since (always making sure I don't accidentally bump it into things, always keeping it in a case when I can).
I've had the demo for a while now though and I've had no problems, but seeing all this is making me kinda worried...
See I have little autismfits while playing this demo but I'm generally not taking it out on the 3ds itself since thats fuckin stupid. Will I be fine as long as I keep that up?
Microfiber cloth most of the time, but considering your screen is fucking filthy, I'd wet a towel and lightly dab it on all the parts of the screen, then take a dry towel and gently dry the screen. After that, just rub it down with a microfiber cloth. You can use q-tips for the corners and edges of the screen if you're having trouble getting at them.
I get the feeling that this game will NOT be very popular on Twitch.
>Hey, let's play this game that destroys circle pads on my expensive capture card 3DS!
>I get the feeling that this game will NOT be very popular on Twitch.
Look at the frontpage. Only released in Japan and already has 10k viewers right now. Yesterday is surpassed Destiny.
It's just that you are a moron, yours will come away too. The rubber thing is glued with shit, after 2000-3000 hours of playing it just comes off.
About breaking the circle pad, yeah, they are monkeys.
If you're the type of person who goes the extra mile to put a capture card into your 3DS, you won't be the type of person who breaks their consoles.
You'd be careful with that kinda shit
>mfw I read that as "manufactured by chinks for penises"
Vita's probably not doing well because it's overpriced and requires overpriced memory cards to function. Plus a lot of games aren't being localized because retarded Sonyggers keep importing them, so there's no reason to get a Vita.
The Wii was designed around mongoloids. The wrist strap was supposed to make it mongoloid-proof, and the old one wasn't. Why do you think Nintendo ended up making the wrist straps thicker and including those cushioned controller cases after all the videos of smashed TVs showed up?
>He bought Smash on a 3DS
>Now he needs a New 3DS
Reggies Fils Hispockets
That never happened to me but what happened to me was in Mario Kart Wii, i used the wheel and when you had to do trick for mini boosts i hitted my jaw multiple times
All the people droning up in this thread will probably also have their pads break in about a couple months.
>in materials science, fatigue is the weakening of a material caused by repeatedly applied loads
Just because yours didn't break yet doesn't mean it won't do so soon.
Don't you guys realize it's a plan by Nintendo?
They know you guys are gonna break your 3DS from Smash and once you do. You're gonna have to upgrade and we all know who's behind it!
Thank you for reminding me I still have this
People were breaking their DS4 a few hours/days after they got it, wear and tear on a 3DS generally comes from years of constant use. If you take good care of your shit it shouldn't be a problem at all.
if you can afford one capture card 3DS you can afford a little glue to rebind the nub to the base.
if you can afford one capture card 3DS you should have enough self control to not break your damn toys.
>All these fat adults breaking their children's handheld
>after 2000-3000 hours of playing
jesus christ, you mean my $150 toy can't stand up to 3 months of nonstop play? stop the fucking presses
>using the C-stick for fighting games
I bet you dweebs use the joysticks on PS4/Xbone controllers in Street Fighter too.
>5 hours played into the demo
>20 hours into the japanese version
>sell nothing wrong with my circle pad
I don't understand what those mooks are doing.
I've had my same Spice Orange GC controller since the GCN launched, used it on every game I played on the GCN, used it for Brawl, and it'll be used for Smash 4. The thing still looks like it's in perfect condition, disregarding some minor paint issues where it's worn down a bit. I don't understand why people don't treat their shit with care. If I'm paying 40 bucks for a fucking controller, it's going to get me 40 fucking months of play time.
What the fuck happened to that Dpad? I have an ambassador 3DS in the same color and it only has one minor-but-noticeable chip on the left side. My circlepad and L/R buttons are fine too. The only thing that broke was my stylus and that's replaceable. This is after moderate use for years, and well over a thousand hours spent on this thing. This isn't Smash's problem, it's people being fucking idiots and smash amplifying their chance to do damage.
The 3DS circle pad is such a piece of shit.
So is the touch screen.
So is the plastic holding the top to the bottom, that shit always breaks.
3DS in generally is really cheaply made. Best games, but the system itself is shit.
>TFW paid $250 for Capture Card installed in 3DS
>New 3DS gets announced 3 months later
It wouldn't suck so much if it weren't for the fact it'll get exclusives. I only hope the guy I got mine from can reuse my old 3DS Capture Card instead of having to buy a new one.
I guess it's because Smash is more popular but I don't see why SSF4 wouldn't give you the same problem. Seems less of a problem with the specific game and more of a problem with the 3DS's design.
>thinking you can use the d-pad in this game
Jokes on you, fucking idiot. Oh wait lemme guess, "I was just pretending to be retarded"? Epic meme kid.
>Why do you think Nintendo ended up making the wrist straps thicker and including those cushioned controller cases after all the videos of smashed TVs showed up?
Because there are actually people in this world that are stupid enough to release a Wiimote from their hands with enough force to break a fucking cord. How the fuck do you even do that? Even if it's "defective" there's no way it's defective enough to snap at a light tug, you still have to be seriously retarded to make that shit happen.
You can't be serious with this shit, man.
>That kid with the ball in his shirt who slid across the floor
Can someone tell me just what the fuck he was trying to accomplish?
>people manage to break game boys because they are gorillas
This circle pad situation is far from surprising. This is what happen when you try to lower production costs as much as possible.
>all these fat adults getting worked up whenever somebody calls Nintendo on their shit
Nintendo announced the new 3DS right before this game released. What better way to get people to buy a new 3DS than to release a game that will destroy their old ones?
>gentle like foreplay
and that's why you fail at everything, including foreplay
My keyboard has taken fuck more impact than your little toy has, it costs far less and has lasted over 2 years now.
When the build is quality, it lasts. Nintendo build quality for their hardware from the DS and up are very poor.
I still have a NES and a game boy colour which works.
Can we ignore for a second how this is clearly the fault of the people doing the breaking and take a look at the fact that there are ACTUALLY PEOPLE ITT ON 4CHAN THAT WILL ARGUE THAT AN INDIVIDUAL GAME CAN BREAK THE SYSTEM IT IS PLAYED ON.
and a new 3ds is releasing next year
maybe Nintendo should have built a more sturdy stick, just sayin
but they had to make another folding handheld, so I guess if they made a REAL stick it wouldn't be able to fold on itself
I don't mind the original DS having 2 screens but they could have at least done something new and made it just 1 screen.
How much of a fucking try-hard faggot do you have to be to fucking destroy your console while playing a party game?
It's not street fighter, so chill the fuck out and relax. If you did, maybe you wouldn't be breaking shit like a fucking retard.
