Even with it's colorful and sometimes harmless color pallet, the Covenant weapons in Halo realistically would ruin shit. However balance for MP would be shit if one plasma bolt was enough to kill you.

The Assault Rifle shoots m14 bullets, with little to no recoil. So 60 (or 32) m14 bullets being sprayed out like a fucking 9 MM SMG.

Maybe not scary but the concept of Hunters from Halo. Which are pretty much millions of tiny worms acting under one "hive mind".

The number of "worms" determines the power, intelligence and function of said being. All they need is a "Shell" to use in. "Hunters" can be the size of a grunt to the size of a building.

That would be nice for realism, but not really fun for gameplay, unless you're playing stealth or something. The plasma raifle in tribes always made me feel a little unsettled. And in the more extended lore of the Starsiege universe the cybrids were full on horrifying - the compendium that shipped with starsiege has a cybrid tactical analysis in it recommending targeting children as "human//animals" display an illogical hormonol//emotional attachment to them and the act can cause them compromise more strategically valuable assets. Also the readily used radiation to kill people readily, specifically the radiation gun could be used to kill human herc pilots with minimal damage to salvage. They were not an enemy to be fucked with.

Not sure about that, but in one the newer novels, the Infinity fires a MAC round at Sanghelios and created like, I think a seven mile wide crater? It's been a while since I saw the exact text. I just looked it up and apparently the total energy released from the Super MAC round is 3,090,195 times the energy released from the atomic bomb detonated over Hiroshima in World War II. Dunno if that would destroy everything but it does sound like it.

ODST are tough fucks for that reason. You could land literally in a cluster of enemies. You need to have the skills, speed, and power to pop out ready to fight.

In the books I remember ODST's were crazy effective and actually won a good amount of battles and were very helpful.

What would that even be like? I mean, I didn't just kill them, I made it so they never existed in the first place. The only indication that this just occurred would be I notice one round has been depleted.

There's this unique sword in Tales of Maj'eyal that's probably the most horrifying thing I've ever seen.

Statwise it just inflicts fuckhuge light and dark damages in a AOE whenever you crit.

Lorewise it opens a time bending blackhole in the target you hit and the sword is the only thing stopping you from being sucked in yourself.
Thanks to the time dialation effect the poor fuckers caught in the blackhole are going to spend eternity being sucked into a blackhole that has already collapsed on itself

The Halo Lake Gondola part is my favorite part from Halo 2. Yeah you're just staying on that gondola as shit attacks you, but the music is fantastic and syncs nicely with the action going on. Then as you come up on the big structure and scope in with your sniper rifle and can see the covenant on the structure getting ready to fight you the music crescendos.

Diablo 2 has a spell where you summon an entity who'll chase the nearest monster around, tear its soul into pieces, and carry said soul to hell, leaving the monster mutilated.
Statwise, it just causes massive damage, but I still find it horrifying. Especially given you visit hell later, and it's not a nice place at all.

There's also been flechette explosive ordinance, in fact the jews have been accused of using flechette rounds in Gaza, and we've tried to make poison flechette guns

Fun fact: it's entirely possible to create an energy sword in real life. it's actually really fucking simple. Plasma is effected by electromagnetic fields, so all the energy sword is is a hilt which creates the field, and a battery/generator which ionizes fuel into a plasma.

We can easily do the former part, I've seen kids muesiums that have small guided plasma tubes, it;s generating the plasma which is the hard part: it takes a fuckton of power.

I hate to be that guy who says "in the expanded universe," but in the novels, this is specifically explained by Covenant science and R&D being essentially nonexistent. They consider it blasphemy to try and innovate on Forerunner technology, and they have an extremely limited understanding of how it works. Consequently a lot of their shit operates at very significantly below peak efficiency.

This is illustrated in one of the novels when Cortana takes control of a Covenant ship. Those plasma cannons the Covenant have that release those dinky little blobs of plasma? Yeah, those things are supposed to be fucking beam weapons. She tears apart an entire Covenant fleet using just one of their own ships.
