I too am guilty. The game is just too damn good. I replayed it recently and was surprised with how much I could'nt put it down like I could do with most games after playing for a while. The pacing is too good, and the gameplay is fun.

Half the reason why everyone loves TLOU is because it's just doing what U2 did first, but with Zombies. I can't bring myself to replay the game like I easily did with U2.

Fallout New Vegas was too open-ended after you confront the man in the checker suit. I forget his name, but it's not important.

After that, you're supposed to choose what side you want to align with, but do so without really any information of what for and why. So the goal of the game moves from getting revenge to... take over the town, without any good transition of goal. I have to choose what faction I want, among four, without any knowledge of them.

It turned me off completely from the game, other games like it understood the main plot having a flowing focus.

You want to find your father, then save your father, then avenge your father and/or stop an invasion of an old threat in FO3.
You want to deliver a message, then you want to learn, then you learn of a greater purpose to the situation in Skyrim.

In New Vegas, the leap is just 'the choice is yours... oh didn't you know that was coming up? That this is what was the next arc? Well tough, time to choose.' I get why they wanted to do it, but the sheer lack of understanding the implications, combined with a sense that all of this was built for pre-established Fallout fans, made me feel unwelcome and uninterested. I haven't played the game since, and I don't understand why it's rated so high. In fact, if I were to be honest, I hated it, and much preferred FO3.

JRPGs are the only games worth playing.
