I think they struck a really good balance actually, but all the same i'd like more emphasis on the combat system this time around, if not in presence then just all-around improvement.

P3 and P4 were great games but their combat was really basic and did nothing but simplify as time went on. I'd be down for more of a meta-game and maybe some light stat building this time around.

Social links are half-assed and hurt P3 and P4's design as a whole.
Thanks to the calendar system and social links, the long periods of nothing happening in the plot become mandatory so the player can build social links, and in the end, that sticks us with no real plot development until the last two/three months of the game.

It becomes worse in P4 where the social links are used as an outlet for character development within the investigation team, making even their character development optional. Worse is that, even with this, completing their social links makes zero impact on the plot. Everyone still behaves the same way.
Fuck, no social links in the game, bar the mandatory ones for Pharos/Ryoji and Teddie, make any impact on the plot. They're so superfluous that it hurts. I could love these things more if Atlus figured out how to make them seem less tangenital. Somehow.
