>No Morrowind thread
What is wrong with you people? Don't you like God-tier rpgs?
>Immortal Morrowind thread
Let's discuss how Morrowind is superior to every other RPG out there
Just one book in Morrowind has more lore than your typical RPG (don't bring that Dark Souls rpg lore crap in here, go make your own thread)
Also the superior Magic System and the dice DnD combat that most casuals don't like it (I'm fine with it)
>tfw you'll never see a more detailed mod than Tamriel Rebuilt in your life
Even the mourning guards pauldrons are leaning down
>dice combat most casuals don't like
>casual for not liking combat that isn't visually or mentally engaging
Morrowind did good on the following:
It's a great RPG, no arguing there, but best RPG of all time? I don't see it.
It is the best RPG of all time
Not everything is based on combat aka (skyrim - oblivion)
You actually need to explore first and go see some exotic places before even doing combat (even Caius tells you you're too weak)
Unlike Skyrim (killed my first dragon at level 3 what the fuck?) RPGs nowadays are for kids 9-12 they're so dumbed down
>like Morrowind not live in it
You're the faggot
>not everything is based on combat
>it's the best RPG of all time
>except for the GAME part of Role Playing Game
The writing isn't that fantastic enough to warrant it being the best RPG of all time coupled with the shitfight that is the combat. The dialogue system is a goddamn mess and the world itself is ugly as sin. Interesting? Absolutely, but it looks like shit.
>inb4 muh mods
>tfw you'll never summon a horde of Daedra to wreck and ruin towns in newer TES games
Why? In Oblivion you can summon daedra (that is destroying Cyrodiil) and no guard will attack you what a fucking shit of a game
In Morrowind they attack even your Bonewalkers not just Daedra
>The writing isn't that fantastic enough to warrant it being the best RPG
Ever read The 36 Sermons Of Vivec? I guess not
>coupled with the shitfight that is the combat
Not training to kill creatures is a waste like Oblivion and Skyrim
IRL you actually need t train before you can hold a sword and kill shit
>The dialogue system is a goddamn mess
Yes because you must rely on magical map markers that somehow magically shows you the way inside a cave and a specific chest you need to search
>the world itself is ugly as sin, it looks like shit.
Have you eve played vanilla Morrowind >pic related
Also Oblivions is more ugly as fuck, those fucking potato faces? really?
And not to mention Morrowind is released in 2002
>Ever read The 36 Sermons Of Vivec?
>ever read that one book in the game? It makes up for the dumb, heavy handed second half of the plot. Honest.
>not training to kill creatures is a waste like Oblivion and Skyrim
>IRL you actually need to train before you can hold a sword and kill shit
Both are false. Also the "durr you don't have da aptitude ta hit stuff" excuse is fucking horseshit because it isn't coupled with the gameplay. If you want to bullshit and go "Well, maybe it'll bounce off of the armor of somebody? Maybe they dodge!" then provide visual associations with those instead of just having your sword swing clean through a body with no effect. It's lazy.
>The dialogue system is garbage
>proceeds to go on a fucking quest marker rant
>cherrypicks one of the few places that isn't just brown, bad textures stretched over the ground next to 5 pointed, tall mushrooms
>also Oblivions is more ugly as fuck, those fucking potato faces? really?
Potato faces > flat 2D texture on a model that looks like a cat's asshole.
>ever read that one book in the game? It makes up for the dumb, heavy handed second half of the plot. Honest
Do you eve have a proof that Morrowind doesn't have lore or you're just shitposting?
>cherrypicks one of the few places that isn't just brown, bad textures stretched over the ground next to 5 pointed, tall mushrooms
Morrowind has an exotic flora are you even trying?
>The dialogue system is garbage
>proceeds to go on a fucking quest marker rant
Yes because dialogue plays an important part in a game and in a quest
>Potato faces > flat 2D texture on a model that looks like a cat's asshole.
And The faces are more unique than Oblivion stop trying
That's OpenMW in it's alpha stage, try updating retard
openMW getting real near being released
I don't use OpenMW, that's just a strange glitch I've been experimenting with.
I use Command on people inside a Vivec Plaza, then pull them outside. They then wander on their own and will eventually start glitching out like that.
Necrom is the city of the dead
They honour them by mourning their deaths like every dunmer does to his ancestors
So the helmets make them look like they're crying or mourning the deaths of their ancestors
What the fuck?
You using LCV (Living Cities of Vvardenfell) Because that might change their schedule
Ok Incident in Necrom? How about that amazing book?
You just need to know the lore more
>Do you eve have a proof that Morrowind doesn't have lore or you're just shitposting?
Where did I say Morrowind has no lore? I said that the second half of the main story plot was heavy handed and shitty.
>Morrowind has an exotic flora
That looks like shit, absolute shit, even for 2002. Throwing some mushrooms up on a generic muddy brown pathway doesn't make something exotic or interesting.
>still can't dispute that the absolute mess of a dialogue system is both shittily made, but needlessly clunky
>the faces are more unique than Oblivion
>literal 2D textures on a face with nothing to set people apart besides their hair or clothes
Nostalgia fag to the absolute max.
>That looks like shit, absolute shit, even for 2002. Throwing some mushrooms up on a generic muddy brown pathway doesn't make something exotic or interesting.
Morrowind has a volcanic flora, so it's fertile you retard alot of plants will grow their or even get overgrown
>>the faces are more unique than Oblivion
I once found an exact copy of that dead emperor in another city
What the fuck?
That was one of two things that drew me to TES; a friend used it as his background. The other was him describing the Tribunal, Nerevarine, and Dagoth Ur.
Started with Oblivion, worked back.
>Started with SKyrim and the played Morrowind
Now I hate the fucking guts of Skyrim
Also I tried Oblivion and it was meh
I started with Oblivion. Borrowed it, had enough time to be enamored, not enough to see level scaling and sub-+5 go all wrong. This was late 2011, so I next tried Skyrim. Loved it, even on PSTriple. Took ages for me to really get past the slow movement speed in Morrowind.
I'd like it more if I could run it better.
I constantly see this posted, and I'm not seeing how it's a bad thing.
>Th-they're using things that might not be in the final release! FOR RECRUITMENT!
It's a big project.
That's from Dragonborn. Or is that posted by some idiot that doesn't realize Ash Hoppers and Scribs are different things, but is also working on Skywind?
I like this change. If you'd posted the new Ogrim, I might be shitter-shattered, but the Dreugh is good. Same for the Ash Ghoul.
Well, this thread is going nowhere, so let's talk about broader TES lore.
What's your favorite book? I love Nerevar at Red Mountain.
I've been meaning to ask a lorefriend to explain tonal magic to me; I know the Dwemer used it on their construction, that the Thu'um is a variation of tonal magic, as well as Sword Singing--but I'm not exactly sure what Sword Singing is. Is it how they sunk Yokuda?
Reminder that Lorkhan best god and Mer a shit.
Sword-singing probably destroyed Yokuda.
My understanding is that tonal magic involves manipulating the frequencies that compose the mundus, or something along those lines. For example, hitting the Heart of Lorkhan with Sunder (a hammer) produces a powerful tone, which is manipulated with Keening. Similarly, the 6th House had the bells and bellhammers.
I know the reason.
It's because everything Kirkbride does is a desperate attempt to get attention. It's why the things he does are generally 2deep4u faggotry, like the Sermons and CHIM. It's all style, no substance.
Reminder that Tribunal are pieces of shit that ruined a beautiful friendship and cursed their entire people.
They are pieces of shit, but neither of the things you charged them with were unreasonable.
>ruined a friendship
That was Dumac refusing to admit he had no idea what Kagrenac was doing. Kagrenac's plans were heathen voodoo, to the Chimer. It would have led to war, without the Tribunal's interference.
That was literally Azura throwing a fit at not having absolute control over something. It's like Vivec choosing to halt the rock (Dar Bau?) instead of removing it entirely.
Honestly, I don't mind it. It makes for interesting fiction, and forces you to think differently about the games you've spent hours playing, but not quite understanding.
He's pretentious as fuck and it's often very annoying, yes. But some of it is pretty cool shit, man. TES has more depth than any other thing I've seen.
I don't see why Morrowind's combat gets shit on when literally every other RPG's shitty combat gets a pass. With its its
>lel, playing an RPG for the combat
with Morrowind its always
>lel, shitty combat
They counciled Nerevar to go to war.
Dumac had no clue about the Numidium, and was hurt that his best friend didn't believe him, and disrespected him by showing up armed to the teeth and with all his soldiers.
The change from Chimer to Dunmer was a consequence of the Tribunal's selfishness. Azura may have done it, but it was because of their actions.
>like the Sermons and CHIM. It's all style, no substance.
No, it has substance though
it's not like those things are mentioned once and never again
I've been meaning to get together all the mods I want, but I don't want to spend hours picking through a million mods.
What are some good mods that really change and improve NPC relations? Some really good companion/waifu mods? Something that makes conversations more interesting?
>Dumac had no clue about the Numidium
He knew about Heart of Lorkhan
He knew that Kagrenac was a Tonal Architect
He knew that he was fucking with Heart of Lorkhan
And he obviously would notice that Kagrenac's men were building some sort of giant metallic man
>Azura may have done it
I actually doubt that Azura did it
I know it's entirely possible and more than likely that she did but seeing how Azura isn't even really responsible for Nerevarine and it has more to do with Mantling I think that Dunmer "curse" might be some side effect of Tonal Architecture use or warping of Heart of Lorkhan
Kirkbride defense force, pls zero-sum and stay zero-sum.
>and was hurt that his best friend didn't believe him
But what Dumac told Nerevar was that this whole "messing with the heart of a dead god" thing was just hooey, which was a lie. Dumac did not admit to ignorance.
>it was because of their actions.
Their actions did not reflect on the Chimer as a whole. Again: Azura threw a fit. It's not like the Tribunal were even halfway honest about how they achieved divinity. They knew the Chimer/Dunmer would hate them for the truth, because they were in the wrong.
The "substance" is that it gets used to explain retcons and is constantly referred to in out-of-universe arguments. There's little explanation for the underlying mechanics, which is why there's characters that have the necessary realizations of CHIM, but do not achieve it or zero-sum. Like Miraak.
Godhead is not musician
stop listening to everyone trying to be smart about something we literally know nothing about
AND I MEAN
WE KNOW ABOUT TONAL ARCHITECTURE IS THAT IT USES SOULGEMS OR SOMETHING LIKE A HEART OF LORKHAN (Which is also a Soulgem for Akatosh)
For some reason Soulgem like objects "resonate" whatever that means and can warp reality to huge extent
END OF IT
NO MORE LORE ABOUT TONAL ARCHITECTURE IS KNOWN
>That's OpenMW in it's alpha stage, try updating retard
Even though the guy you replied to said it's not OMW, just wanted to point out that OpenMW's pathfinding is still fucked, they need someone with proper AI experience to give a hand
More like reality solidified because of convention and heart, the first two towers. The world before was full of ever changing spirits and energy which got orderly aranged only after the towers were made. The world is a lot more stable now, but still isn't completely objective. Withor items and ideas embeded with essence that leaks from godhead's upper gradient, the world can be changed.
Sword singing uses understanding of one's own self through a lens from out of this world, guided by Hoon Ding.
Dragon Shouting uses understanding of this world in its building essence, channeled through the words of world maker himself.
Humidium is powered by the stone of the basic tower building reality.
>The "substance" is that it gets used to explain retcons
Okay lets see...
>Cyrodiil gets fucked up
>MK has to save ass of Bethesda and write in Commentaries that it was Talos
What other use of it was for retcon again?
Oh yea you are one of those guys that don't actually know shit about lore
>There's little explanation for the underlying mechanics
No, there are known underlying mechanics, be it from old weatherd note or Sermons or commentaries of whatever
So not only do you not know how CHIM works but you are also ignoring other Walking Ways which are not CHIM, that all need great knowledge and all can lead to Amaranth
Nirn is made of magical gears according to Magnus's plans, right?
Maybe gears change their directions when they hear tones with metaphysical properties
thread was made by some cunt but I do consider it great
I love other greats be it Arcanum or Wizardry or Ultima which most of /v/ hasn't played and all of them just like Morrowind have flaws, some even more than Morrowind
I don't like calling anything "god-tier" or whatever tier but it is one of my favorite games
I think that Tonal Architecture has to do with Aka-Tusk and flow of time
Dragons have Dragonshouts which is tonal warping
Dwemer were using Heart of Lorkhan that has trapped Aka
Akaviri are from fucking Dragon continent
Yoku's...well who the fuck knows
Still it's too often tied to Aka
What this guy said. Morrowind has certain qualities no other RPG game even comes close to emulating, let alone surpasing. I keep it on my all time rpg list next to torment and baldur
Because it's not a top-tier image.
If it's meant to show the major divine power-players of TES3, it should include Hircine. If it's meant to show Dunmer faith, pertaining to Vvardenfell, it should include Sotha Sil.
A word cloud of this thread, make of it what you will.
Speaking of Hircine, how did he get back benched so hard in Skyrim? The only time he appears is during that shitty werewolf hunt quest for his artefacts but there was an entire fucking faction centred around him and he never appears once.
It's like these threads end up describing the game
He probably isn't involved very strongly in his worship. Consider the origins of the Circle, which had them make a deal with witches, not the Daedra itself.
He does appear in his personal quest, though.
Im having really fun first time playing morrowind. I only use a graphic overhaul mod and a few minor mods. Currently level 8 dunmer WARRIORHHHHHH with full ebony set. Exploring a whole new world is really interesting and im having lots of fun. Also people who complain about dice mechanics in combat shouldnt complain. When you have a high weapon skill it gets too easy
>mfw Morrowind runs better with the graphics and sound overhaul
>When you have a high weapon skill it gets too easy
Ex-fucking-actly. Anyone who complains about the combat being "MISS MISS MISS" is using a weapon they're not skilled in or has a horribly optimized build. Honestly, you stop missing shit after the first 3 or 4 levels unless you're fucking stupid.
>mfw souped up MGSO with everything tuned to the max runs better than openmw with everything set to low
fuck i want to help test it but it's hard when i'm barely getting 30fps
they need to get to work on those optimizations pronto, weren't they meant to be adding multicore support too?
>Morrowind is superior to every other RPG out there
9/10 fuck my sides
>came into a Morrowind thread to talk shit on Morrowind
How much of a faggot can you possibly be?
I'm glad that I had end-game armour and had a character that used blunt weapons so that I could wreck shit with Sunder. Plus it helped that I had all the Ash Vampire rings/amulets/belts. And even then I fucking died quite a bit.
I actually had to cheat at one point because of a boss that is so glitched it's damn-near impossible to kill the damned thing.
>What's your favorite book?
I can't remember the name, but it's that short drama that's a part of one of the Tribunal quests. While you're acting it out you get attacked by an assassin.
Second favorite is that book Almalexia wrote which is a collection of short stories, I can't remember its name either
I found them to be pretty useful. All of them at least had a single useful enchantment on them. Even the Amulet of Heartrime had a Sanctuary enchantment (the fortify magicka and conjuration enchantments didn't help me at all). Several fortify health enchantments and a bunch of shields too.
Whatever you are good at, FIND A TRAINER who teaches that weapon skill and dump all of your gold into it until it's about 50 or so. Otherwise you'll come back in a few days and post shitty webms of you sucking like here:>>261972228
i only get to enjoy /tesg/ when actual porn and funny shit is getting posted, it's utterly fucking awful otherwise. It's skyrim 24/7 and only mutant waifus at that.
neither have appeared in months so it's existance is more of an obstacle for good TES discussion than an aid. These /v/ threads are doing pretty good actually so i'll support them.
Which magic looks the most cool?
Webm shows, in order: Fire-Frost-Shock-Damage-Absorb-Restore-Calm-Levitate
I didn't even know Restoration spells had such an effect. I never needed to try that out.
>Enter low level tomb
>Encounter skeleton archer
>Skeleton fires arrow
>Skeleton fires another arrow while I'm still paralyzed
>WOMBO COMBO PARALYSIS
this game can be such horse shit sometimes.
buffscale is a worthless piece of shit and every mod he touches turns to an equally worthless piece of shit. Wonders of Mzark had promise, but it was all a clusterfuck of badly designed areas, shitty items, retarded dialogs and fucking stupid rewards
I want to come inside
>I think there's also a stagger chance built into some weapons, but I don't know how it works.
This is the first I've ever heard of this. I always assumed it was because they used up all their stamina during combat. Even with a brand new character in Seyda Neen using that worn dagger I was able to knock people down during combat.
>tfw using the editor to make them constant effect instead of cast-on-use
I toned them down, though. I'm not that much of a faggot
>One potential side-effect of damage is staggering or even knocking down opponents. Higher damage (and lower opponent Agility) will increase the chance of these effects, which means that slower, harder-hitting two-handed weapons are generally more likely to keep an opponent off its toes.
Can one of you nerds help me?
I'm trying to install Tamriel Rebuilt and it says to change something in morrowind.ini, but I've looked all through morrowind and all it's fucking files for 15 minutes now and cannot fucking find it
where is the fucking thing? a search doesnt bring it up
Is it cheap to pay for training? I feel like if I use it to power level my spear up 20 levels so I can finally advance in House Redoran I'll be cheating.
It's not cheap, as long as you earned the money and didn't cheat to get it.
Money feels like it's easy to come by, but that's because you're the player, and have more power and potential than anyone else.
Money is harder to get for NPCs. People in Seyda Neen complain about taxes, but if you read the records, it doesn't seem like much. While you might have no trouble paying to raise a skill from 5 to 100, the average character in the game would have to save up their entire life to afford that. So it's not like it's low priced or anything.
tl;dr it's not cheap, it's just easy for the player.
I like to cast a long-lasting Levitate spell with a magnitude 1 on target, effectively pinning my enemy in place.
Another thing I do is cast a regular strength long-lasting Levitate spell on myself and a same strength but shorter length Levitate spell on my enemy, and run as high as I can, he follows up, and when it wears out, he falls to his death.
No mudcrab merchant or creeper allowed, so I'm just stuck with expensive treasures slowly littering my house in
Obligatory tell me mods post
Preferably stuff that is lesser known.
So is the mages guild in tamriel rebuilt unadvancable?
For the fighters guild, I eventually just finished all of the available quests and got ranked up until all of the local guilds were finished.
But for mages guild I apparently have more quests waiting for me once I achieve conjurer rank and I'm told that I need to perform more duties before I can be ranked up. However, there are no more questgivers in either of the guilds. The akamora guild leader says that francine should have some jobs for me, but theres nothing there. The wiki doesn't even show any quests for her.
The wiki even shows these conjurer quests, but theres no way to access them because theres not enough quests to rank up to conjurer. Am I missing something or what?
tfw there are no good empty houses and the only good house mods for ald-ruhn are massive sub20fps monstrosities. Being redoran is suffering.
check out tamriel rebuilt if you haven't
I ususally don't like heads mods but sheeeiiit those look a
Can't wait for him to finish the set. He says hes not making khajiit or argonian heads though. Such a shame.
I don't mind being stuck with these argonian heads, but I can't find anything good for khajiit.
I have done all miscellaneous quests. Fuck factions. Fuck daedric princes. I'm a wandering argonian doing deliveries, retrieving peoples pants, chasing holy guars and rescuing wives from cultists.
I dont even know which argonian heads I'm using, but they fit decently with the mackom heads.
For khajiit there is nothing. I'm using some hidious high contrast shit because its slightly better than the already hidious default.
I patched together one of the faces from some khajiit mod and ended up with this one that I use for a khajiit companion. But all other khajiit are just so bad. I Just avoid them when taking screenshots.
this pic, man
>so a fire, storm, and ice atronachs walk into a bar...
the readme wasn't clear at all. Should there be some item in my inventory for that? what settings should i want to have?
also the nexus version gave me an error and asked for a patch i had to look up.
>what settings should i want to have?
Been too long for me to remember, but you gotta add the extra blood and gore effects, since those are defined the .ini
There's no inventory item
Are there any high res textures for tamriel rebuilts new armor/weapons yet? I googled briefly but couldn't find anything.
other people are making hair and accessories for his heads. Theres already dunmer, altmer and redguard hair I know.
>having vivec as a husbando
>liking vivec at all outside of his poetry
vivec was a faggot
>tfw you will never recover that feeling of playing Morrowind for the first time
>tfw you will never forget where everything is and what the quests are so you can explore again from the start
>tfw you will never be able to not be a powergaming faggot and stop worrying about how efficiently you're leveling and shit
>you will never see all Mer put to the sword
Hows that being shit tire working out for you?
God damnit you guys, I wanted to wait for Open MW to play again, but this makes me want to play Morrowind even more. Other than Morrowing overhaul 3.0, what are a good list of mods to get? I tried to mod it on my new PC a few months ago and the mods I liked werent around anymore, especially the NPC mod that adds a ton of interested characters to play with and have follow me around, something about the head and hair mods being gone. Does anyone have a list of the must have mods that arent the graphical ones?
I'm absolutely certain it's supposed to represent the major cosmic players of the game. It just doesn't have Hircine because
>mer are such shit that their only method of counterargument is memes
I don't think you could ever play that coherently.
Why is Firewatch so comfy?
It has that oblivion town coziness going for it. I could hang around in it all day.
I'm hoping hammerfell after playing daggerfall. Just seems like an interesting place to revisit and it would be relatively easy for bethesda.
It won't be in Akavir. That wouldn't make any sense. It would be nothing like all of the other games. There are no men there. There are no mer there. Just vampire snake men, monkey men, and snow tiger men.
It would be interesting, but its so mysterious, there's so little lore referring to it, they'd have to flesh the whole thing out in one go, and that would take way too much time.
We're either getting Hammerfell or Valenwood.
>no other outlet has said anything about what would be the biggest announcement of the year
>this soon after another TES game, they haven't even made a new Fallout or new IP
I cant wait for the northern areas of TR to be finished, maybe in another ten years
First time I'm playing a female character in Morrowind. It's fun to notice all those subtle dialogue changes.
I was lazy and just used Morrowind Overhaul 3.0. I think it comes with better faces mod.
Again, I'm not sure. Just google what mods are included in Morrowind Overhaul.
Its better clothes probably, something in the overhaul gives females different armor variants
Finally decided to play through it after dropping it twice. After getting used to combat I'm enjoying it a lot. Any recommendations for my second playthrough? I'm a light armor long blade warrior type so Im thinking spell caster next.
Screencap from mod list
How many of you guys can just stare in the night sky in Morrowind and feel comfy?
>small team for big project needs help to fully realize Skywind
>this is a bad thing
I don't understand you. Or why you chose to respond to an hours-old post; I'm still here because I'm modding Morrowind.
I have no idea, its in the TR Alpha around the giant gray mushroom swamp area, I think its still a unfinished city without a name
The Altmer alchemist in Balmora has an infinite restocking supply of Void and Frost salt.
And killing a few scamps and taking their hearts isn't too difficult. A wizard should be able to handle that.
>can absorb magic
>make a ancestor ghost spell that last 9 seconds and cost 5 mana
>hit it to make it hostile
>refills all your mana
This is why I hate Morrowind threads. Nobody has any fucking idea what they're doing in the game. /v/ is as full of casuals as any other part of the internet.
>put on curaiss that was a quest reward
>suddenly find myself cursed with an repulsive endless stench
>can't remove the cursed armor now
This shit better lower my disposition with all npcs or I'm going to be heavily disappointed in the tr team.
Khajiit head pack seems okay.
I play nords. Any good Nord heads out there? I can't find any that don't ruin the whole viking look.
This question is for anybody, really.
Why are Ash Ghouls also merchants+smiths?
We just don't know.
>Sneaking up on an ash slave
>"The chairs. The tables. All confused. We hear the words, and must speak them. We take them, and arrange them, but still, they will not be quiet."
Play the games. Read the books. Pay attention to the conversations.
UESP is great for game materials, including the full text of said books and some conversations. Imperial Library is good for general lore, as well as some out-of-game stuff.
>yfw Khajiit invented Anonymous.
>good luck, I'm behind 7,000 Kalpas.
Literally the main book in Oblivion, the only book THAT YOU NEED to complete the main quest
>Whereby the words of Lord Dagon instructs us to destroy these faithless. "Eat or bleed dry the gone-forlorn and gain that small will that led them to walk the path of Godhead at the first. Spit out or burn to the side that which made them delay. Know them as the Mnemoli.
>CHIM. Those who know it can reshape the land. Witness the home of the Red King Once Jungled.
What the fuck more do you want you faglord?
Not to mentions Sermons literally explaining everything or Anuad and Monomyth talking about Anu falling asleep or From The Many Headed Talos talking about Talos reshaping the land or Black Books talking about Amaranth related things or Old Weathered note talking about zerosumming
Can actually even play with followers in Morrowind?
One thing I really like about Skyrim is, that actually can play it on a really realistic difficulty, because with the right mods you always can play with a nice party or even command a whole army.
I'm using Comes-By-Road, an argonian healer companion right now. Does his job remarkably well and knows to stay out of dangerous shit. Automatically teleports to you if you leave him outside a room or something, and has an amulet to bring him to you.
He can't wear armor though. Anyone know what I would need to change in the construction kit to allow him to wear it? He just wears clothes and uses a weapon.
So did the tribunal
kill Nerevar?I'd like to believe so, especially since Vivec's writings doesn't mention it and they're all batshit crazybut Dagoth Ur does claim to have come to blows with him.
Nerevar absolutely fought Dagoth Ur at some point
After their fight Nerevar died or Vehk, Ayem and Seht killed him
Looking at concept arts of Morrowind and listening to Ashlanders it's pretty obvious that they did actually kill him
Then Vivec changed history of TRIBUNAL and his own history so who the fuck knows whats true at this point
"He was not born a god. His destiny did not lead him to this crime. He chose this path of his own free will. He stole the godhood and murdered the Hortator. Vivec wrote this."
We already know what's true. All the things you said, and the Tribunal lied about it. That was actually an aspect of the way the Temple worked, with its hidden writings and what-not. Can't remember the word for it off-hand, I'm sure someone else can help.
Morrowind is a fantastic game but is severely outclassed by every Elder Scrolls game that has come out since then
>If the appropriate word from each book is taken (I.E: the first word from book 1, the sixty-eighth from book 2, the three hundred and sixty-fourth from book 36, etc.) and assemble them, a secret message is revealed;
>He was not born a god. His destiny did not lead him to this crime. He chose this path of his own free will. He stole the godhood and murdered the Hortator. Vivec wrote this.

Sermon 29 of 36 sermons has list of metaphysical concepts tied to each sermon, like The Scarab, man born ANU, it also has number tied to each Sermon.
If you take the word tied to the number from each sermon, you will get this
They kiled Nerevar
How? In level scaling? I don't understand what you're thinking. All the games have barely tolerable combat. Oblivion decided to "balance" the fact that every strike hit by making everything a bag of HP.
>I've never played Morrowind I just can't accept that people like it more than my game
At least when people complain about Skyrim/Oblivion they give an argument more detailed then "hurr I can't hit anything with no stamina" "I'm confused by simple mechanics"
Morrowind had better gameplay mechanics even if you hate melee combat
Magic in both Skyrim and Oblivion is veeery shallow compared to Morrowindian Magic
what is that supposed to mean?
if so Oblivion had broken leveling and level scaling while Skyrim had all stats removed in favor of interesting but more shallow perks which should have been added to stats, not replace them
Morrowind has more armor pieces in a set
Morrowind had more armor items ingame
You could wear cloth under armor
Armor actually broke unlike Skyrim
How is future TES armor better than Morrowind?
>magic spells/special abilities (shouts)
As I said Magic has a lot more effects in Morrowind, effects that actually matter
Shouts are missed opportunity and instead work as shitty powers with only a few having interesting effects
Morrowind had more Mobs to fight and more interesting Mobs to fight too
Bestiary? Really? That was one of the coolest parts of Morrowind. Wolves? Nope, giant insectoid Nix Hounds. Cows? How about a Guar. The animals of Morrowind really helped to convey the feeling of this sort of alien land.
And then you have the Sixth House, whose enemies I still absolutely adore.
None for your first time. Get a sense of the original.
Second run, use the ones in this guide: http://www.somethingfornobody.com/blog/morrowind-modding-guide/
Many of the links are broken, unfortunately, but you can get most of the visuals overhauled by following it.
Oblivion improves on Morrowind in terms of quests and matches it in terms of level design, graphics, and overall gameplay, but fails massively in music, art direction, genuinely interesting shit to explore, and balance.
Skyrim improves on Morrowind in terms of gameplay (kinda - but there's no excuse for them not outsourcing gameplay to Arkane given that they own Arkane now and Arkane are masters of fun combat), music (the music isn't actually better, it's about the same, but there's way more of it so it wins there), and graphics, matches it in terms of overland stuff to explore and arguably in art direction, and fails massively in terms of level design, quests, and balance.
Morrowind is best if you want a really solid exploration experience with great atmosphere.
Oblivion is best if you want interesting quests and faction plots.
Skyrim is best if you want an atmospheric survival game (and this does require modding, but then, Skyrim is the first TES game where you actually NEED to mod it just to make it playable at all; specifically, SkyUI is mandatory because the base interface is broken, so you'll be modding it no matter what).
I would consider Morrowind and Skyrim to be fairly evenly matched, but with mods Morrowind is better, since Skyrim's major flaw (the abysmally shitty quests and faction plots) can't really be fixed.
Ebony Mail has the highest AR when you take into account its shields spells. Dragonbone Cuirass is useless if you're playing a dunmer (also it was supposed to have a fucking fire breath power, where is it bethesda??)
I used Lord's Mail.
>specifically, SkyUI is mandatory because the base interface is broken
How so? "Broken" as in "not very good on PC", or are there actual problems? Only true issue I know of is that the White Phial disappears, and my understanding is that SkyUI causes that, not vanilla.
>shitty laptop is all I've got
>master race PC died some time ago
>no money to get a decent rig anytime soon
>well, might as well play Morrowind, the game is old after all, shouldn't have any problems...
>spend a whole day downloading mods I would like to play with
>use the code patch
>ready to start the game
>maybe 8fps at most
>turn off shadows completely
>slight improvement, but everything is still slow as fuck
Well sheeeeit... Feels bad mang.
I can get behind that, thanks anon for actually providing something thought out.
Only thing I really want in a new elder scrolls game (not counting the continuing dragging of magic through the dirt) is a large number of factions and faction interaction.
Morrowind had it, although it took up a majority of the gameplay, and I think Bethesda is fine enough with fucking up their own lore to make another game with 10+ joinable factions.
It wasn't just "not very good on the PC", that's SkyUI. SkyUI is not very good on the PC. The stock UI however is unplayable garbage. Having to change your keybinds back to default every time you want to add or remove a favourite = yep, it's broken. SkyUI does fix that alongside making the UI somewhat bearable.
>tfw stats and attributes will probably never return
Need to pay off my college debt anon, first it's that, then rent, utilities and food. Don't have the $$$ for vidya related stuff.
I'll probably just go scavenging through my old shit, I could probably frankestein some shitty computer from all of the spare parts around.
I think the main problem with the laptop must be the shitty integrated video card.
Never thought Morrowind needed a good one though, I remember playing it years ago on a really cheap PC.
