Why aren't there more games set in space? What are some good games set in space? Are you looking forward to Destiny and Alien Isolation?
The end of the Destiny beta left my life with no purpose. I really want to play it again as soon as possible but I only have a PS3 and would rather play the PS4 version. I can't afford getting a PS4 until 2015 most likely.
Don't know if it went to shit or just lost interest. Played shit load of mass effect 1. Then just ran through the second and third because the story was still kind of interesting.
I plan to make a metroidvania set in a giant sphess station eventually. Does that count?
I-War 2: Edge of Chaos
In grade twelve on a bird day we watched it in physics calss and we had a T/F quiz on it (teacher was a bro and boosted our marks) and all the answers were false and the relegated to things like "if you point at a satellite in mid space, you will go to it" or like "fire extinguishers work in space" and everyone's favorite "the ISS, Hubble and other space stations are all relatively close in orbit."
EVE Online is in Space and easily the best MMO out there.
Unfortunately it's not
I wish there would be a singleplayer game with shattered horizon engine/gameplay, going from station wreck to another scavenging the shit out of them and blasting anyone who gets in your way while running from space cops.
Good lord I get disoriented when I play Shattered Horizon for a while, turning suit off is awesome
This might help Space-sims, I absolutely wish it all the best and hope it succeeds but I don't have much confidence it will.
Shocking that it won awards and got a good score on IMDB, it was really, really awful but I tell you what it was beautiful.
>not playing Discovery mod for Freelancer back in it's glory days
Was my first experience with RP in games and it was actually really fun.
Border patrolling rheinland space, inspecting transports for illegal goods and chasing bad guys was fun. I eventually rose in rank and was issued a rheinland battleship.
Damn i miss those times.
>Why aren't there more games set in space?
There are fucking shitloads. There are more awful space games than there are youtubebait jumpscare games or zombie games. It really isn't that difficult to find some.
Yeah, that silenced mode was incredible. They really should have tried to make some sort of campaign for that game. I think it may have been too expansive too for a MP only title.
Funny, because when I watched Gravity all I could think about was how unbelievably average she was in the nineties but how outstandingly hard she was making my cock in the present day.
eve's game play is so terribly shit that it's hard to last long enough to find a community and engross yourself in the mmo aspect. i do like at least the illusion of game play instead of straight microsoft excel
Anyone playing StarSector here?
I'm waiting for the next update myself. I swear the game has the best modding community.
>not designing your own spaceship parts
dude combat is like sticking pins in your fucking cock waiting for something to happen, and hey i bet it's better at later levels, oh wait i need to afk for 2 fucking years to even gain a sembelence of the skill points i need to join a guild thats not complete and udder shit. no the only reason that game is still going is because to do anything in it you need a 400+ person megacorp, if the community aspect wasn't there it would be a pile of shit
Eve online is the most P2W videogame ever conceived. There is nothing in the game that cannot be simply purchased with a large amount of real money.
The game itself is wading through masses of seemingly endless shit in the hope of a few seconds of enjoyment.
The game wasn't always like that, but for a long time now it is a business model with a game-facade wrapped around it.
Also some of the shittiest, most incompetent and deceitful developers that have ever existed.
and the community is some of the saddest, most deluded goys that could exist, i know i was one of them for 7 years, i consider it like beating an addiction, but i don't remember ever getting high.
Perhaps you should actually look up info about a game and not just trust /v/ on everything. Yeah, the game is being developed pretty slow, but it's only a 3 man team. And they did an update just a few weeks ago. This is the same kind of retardation as everyone freaking out that CP2077 was canceled because people were making threads about it.
>sit in ship for 200 hours
>lol we ratting now
>lol we getting blown up if going in to sector of not safe now
>lol space belka is best space look at all times you must give to hebrew overlord for skillpoints
>b-but anon you can buy plex with money
>b-but anon you can go in to low sec and become a real bounty hunter, you totally won't get killed in 3 shots by dicksuck wilson who has been playing for the past 8 years and has every skill maxed
>m-muh combat is totally fun and engaging
>m-muh combat totally isin't set ship at orbit and excel untill the sun comes up
downloading the demo now. it simulates launching rockets? would be cool if the characters were actual humans with psych profiles and autopsy reports instead of these disney pixar looking motherfuckers
>born too late to explore the world
>born too early to explore the universe
>maybe born just in time for shitty space holidays
In terms of the story progression, and the objectives, I liked DS1 more, if only because it reminded me a lot of System Shock 2, but DS2 had so many improvements in the controls and the gameplay. Like actually flying in zero G, better mouse support on the PC version, better movement, etc
>tfw no not enough video gamey ships with centrifugal gravity.
Don't bother, the devs cashed out and are releasing tiny updates pretty much every year now. It's been a year and bit for me and all they've added since then are flags, asteroids and basic science gameplay.
The Brazillian is the hardest worker on their team so something is clearly wrong. They also tried to remove gameplay mechanics from the game to sell as DLC in the "future" but had to reverse the decision after the outrage.
Ok, then here's the short version for you buddy:
The unity engine is shit, there's no gameplay but if you like the science part of space and also like building shit with lego bricks, then you're gonna love KSP.
pretty much this >>261461142
They also have an habit of not fixing shit and moddrs outrun them easly, and they have abandoned 4chan for reddit hugbox because they couldn't stand the criticism, and basically sold their core audience to implement "shiny" feature fucking up their development cycle
If you want more info just ask on the general on >>>/vg/
if you got five hours to kill the swapper pretty good
Is there any video game like this for PC? Please don't say Strike Suit/Vector. I didn't like either.
The last major update was V0.19 released in March 2013, which is when they were supposedly changing to "smaller, more frequent updates"
In the past 17 months they have since added added
>Stole parts from a mod pack to add
>Added a science mechanic
>Asteroid Redirect mission
Everything else is either bug fixes or tweaks to the mechanics or UI.
I don't think so. I thought the controls were really annoying. The game didn't seem that interesting either.
I guess I'll just have to play some of those old Star Wars games.
Don't forget the 64bit update which has been available to people who copied the mono.dll and exe files from the unity installer WAY before that.
But one thing is for sure, we can all be happy about how the mk2 SP+ parts get integrated into 0.25 in a few days.
i'm probably the only one who played this. But it was pretty good.
The demo is very old at this point and not representative of the current version.
It's DRM free (even the steam version) so feel free to pirate it and try it out.
Be aware that it's sort of like Skyrim/Minecraft in that mods are required to enjoy the game. On the upside it has good mod support.
One of the best levels in CoD: Ghosts was the space combat at the end. It had a really cool environment with orbital station debris everywhere, 360 degree rotation and lots of verticality with enemies floating around in various directions.
>inb4 hipster trash CoD hate
Not that guy, but when she gets inside the ISS and takes off her suit in like 30 seconds, she's just in her underwear.
In reality astronauts wear a complicated cooling suit and diapers inside the suit, as well as the various sensors to monitor their vitals. It takes the help of a couple other astronauts and like half an hour or more to get in and out of the suit.
>movie looks fantastic
>oh but the story was shit, so it was terrible
>game has amazing gameplay
>oh but the story was shit, so it was terrible
Have you cock monglers tried /lit/?
>Why aren't there more games set in space?
>Are you looking forward to Destiny
Thats set on earth you fuck tard
>That feel when you get hit by emp grenade and start floating off to the distance and see the light dance on the structures and all the pieces of the moon while hearing only the sound of your own breath
Truly the best EVA movement in a game ever.
Anything like a realistic Kerbal? Doesn't even have to be as detailed, just a space simulator that also factors in the human element.
