Give the player options between being a victim or standing up for themselves. Being a victim makes Vivian progressively weaker to the point that she can't move and the game just does nothing (movement speed = 0, etc). I have some art, graphic design and writing experience.

Since you probably want to keep it simple; maybe a 2D sprite based ARPG in the secret of mana or legend of mana perspectives, or a turn based 2D sprite game taking from X-com or Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, possibly even a mix.

I don't know about the anti-SJW part. Perhaps you could go more subtle and make it focus on the positives of a more level headed mindset, rather than taking side toward any extreme on any side. In a way that makes sense for a character like Vivian that focuses on video games and entertainment, rather than political or social issues. The old 90s Gen-X slacker mindset of, "Who cares?" and, "It's not my problem" built upon the character by a constant and growing understanding that people with more social or political standing are only going to pretend to agree or disagree with an idea so long as it benefits them in some way personally, or benefits what they represent.

I simply mean, why single out SJW stuff when there are a lot of issues in video games these days to pick from. Day One DLC, draconian DRM, games that are easier for pirates to play than legitimate paying customers, publishers wanted to drive up game costs while wanting to cut down on game content, chop it up, and serve out over the course of multiple over priced DLCs and many more issues. There are a lot of aspects you could tackle, and being more subtle about each, and not harping on one in particular, could benefit each message more because it won't feel like you're singling, "women" and "social justice" out, and thus will give people less ammo to call is misogynist (which isn't a problem, really, but making it harder for them to say negative things about it is a good thing, especially if it's still pointing out fallacies in a lot of SJW logic, but in subtle ways that are hard to tackle).

Okay, quick brainstorming here.

Chronicle of the Internet Wars: The Birth of Vivian James

Genre: Beat em Up/RPG elements/Sidescroller


Stage 1: Vivians apartment.
Huge loft where she starts in the living room. SJW warriors, all dressed hipsterish breaks in and knocks her over. Quinn takes her videogames, telling they are too anti-SJW and disappears. Vivian have too beat down hipsters to get outside the apartment. There she sees Quinn jumps into a car driven by Kessler. She tells a man with a gigantic afro to get rid of her. Cut to Fish jumping out of the car and boss fight.

Boss battle: You need to defeat him by trying hit him enough times so that he drops his computer. Then you need to stun him enough to steal his files. Afterwards he get so mad that he quits.

He perish after telling that Vivians videogames are at Kotakus Head-office.

Stage 2: Streets
Fight and move forward while Hipsters and and SJW warriors try too stop you. After a while you get too the front door of Kotaku head office, but you are blocked by the respectfully nodding guy.

Boss Battle: RNG
He basically tries to Glasgow kiss you, so everytime he exposes his forehead you need to jump on it. After a while he starts trowing his glasses at you. At the end he basically spasm. This is where you jump on him and wins.

Stage 3: Kotakus office
Fight trough waves of hipster office workers. Until you meet Kessler.

Boss Battle: Kessler
The trick here is to survive his attacks until he can get fired. He tells that Zoe is hiding on the internet.

Stage 4: The DQ stage
You log into the computer, but realises that Quinn have tricked you. He sends you into her DQ game. Where you have to make the right decisions. The trick is to always choose the hidden options (that tells that this is a shit game.) Defeated Zoe tells that her boss has the games and will try too unveil the new censored version at the Pax.

Stage 5: Pax convention
The trick here is to hide from the security guards behind cans and objects until you can get to the stage. Her she meets Sarkessian who proclaims videogames goes into a new era of SJW friendly material. Vivian jumps on the stage.

Boss fight: Anita throws shoes and gets random SJW to attack you. After first round beating her up, she will call her friends that foundraises new health for her. Chronicle of the Internet Wars: The Birth of Vivian James

Genre: Beat em Up/RPG elements/Sidescroller


Stage 1: Vivians apartment.
Huge loft where she starts in the living room. SJW warriors, all dressed hipsterish breaks in and knocks her over. Quinn takes her videogames, telling they are too anti-SJW and disappears. Vivian have too beat down hipsters to get outside the apartment. There she sees Quinn jumps into a car driven by Kessler. She tells a man with a gigantic afro to get rid of her. Cut to Fish jumping out of the car and boss fight.

Boss battle: You need to defeat him by trying hit him enough times so that he drops his computer. Then you need to stun him enough to steal his files. Afterwards he get so mad that he quits.

He perish after telling that Vivians videogames are at Kotakus Head-office.

Stage 2: Streets
Fight and move forward while Hipsters and and SJW warriors try too stop you. After a while you get too the front door of Kotaku head office, but you are blocked by the respectfully nodding guy.

Boss Battle: RNG
He basically tries to Glasgow kiss you, so everytime he exposes his forehead you need to jump on it. After a while he starts trowing his glasses at you. At the end he basically spasm. This is where you jump on him and wins.

Stage 3: Kotakus office
Fight trough waves of hipster office workers. Until you meet Kessler.

Boss Battle: Kessler
The trick here is to survive his attacks until he can get fired. He tells that Zoe is hiding on the internet.

Stage 4: The DQ stage
You log into the computer, but realises that Quinn have tricked you. He sends you into her DQ game. Where you have to make the right decisions. The trick is to always choose the hidden options (that tells that this is a shit game.) Defeated Zoe tells that her boss has the games and will try too unveil the new censored version at the Pax.

The trick here is to hide from the security guards behind cans and objects until you can get to the stage. Her she meets Sarkessian who proclaims videogames goes into a new era of SJW friendly material. Vivian jumps on the stage.

Boss fight: Anita throws shoes and gets random SJW to attack you. After first round beating her up, she will call her friends that foundraises new health for her. Beat her again and she tries to kill you with a videogame cartridge. However she cant manages too lift them. Proclaiming that videogames was meant too be used for entertainment, not promoting SJW political views and selfish interests, Vivian leaves her there.

End scene: We se Vivian playing video-games alone in her apartment when a mysterious figure jumps in. Its Adam Baldwin and he says “This was just the beginning, are you ready to continue the fight and gives her a folder called TFYC”

Ok, this is basically the best thing that I could come up with that allows us to both take the piss out of everyone we want but still remain the good guys - megaman line level system with each level being a cancer site (fb, twitter, tumblr, kotaku, etc.) bht one of them is 4chan. Gameplay a mix of megaman and turtles in time with 2d sprites on a 3d backgrou d. You can run around, shoot, get powerups and upgrade your stuff between levels.

Plot is that all the shit spewing made it impossible for vivian to enjoy vidya so she goes out for blood to get her peace and quiet. In the end she's just back on her couch playing.

What if we made a game that was essentially just the concept of who Vivian is? What if the game opens with some Too the Moon-esque bullshit of her being at work (when you go up to and interact with NPCs in the workplace, you get basic talk options with some, thoughts of Vivian's for others) with basic, boring gameplay elements such as completing her work. Then you ride home on the bus (maybe have a cut scene or something), which offers some more opportunity for basic, silly gameplay elements.

Once you get home, Vivian's room becomes the "hub", where you can watch TV (have Vivian sit on her couch and just stare at the TV while munching on chips or something), order delivery, read (would have to be handled well, as we need to make her an average person, not someone who only reads deep, thought provoking stuff. I would say comic books, while avoiding manga, and possibly some fantasy stuff would be good additions, but this part definitely needs work), and most importantly, play video games. I think there should be a parody desk top complete with parody Steam where you can buy parody games. Unfortunately, Vivian's kind of broke, so she can only afford certain games. The games we would offer would be 4 or 5 full-on parody games that totally suck, are easy, and have cliche boring art styles, and one that would be the main game Vivian would play.

This game would be our "real" game, featuring an actual well thought out plot that should mirror Vivian's life to some degree, and whose completion would further the entire plot of the game, serving as Vivian's inspiration to go to sleep feeling accomplished.

Vivian would need to go to work the next day, and that opens more character development time and other basic gameplay opportunities, and once she gets home again, the game would continue.

I'm not even thinking about story related stuff yet, but if this sounds like a semi-decent idea, tell me now. I'm starting to like where I'm heading, and I wrote all this way too fast.

It should be a game starting in the regular world, Vivian being her typical, grumpy self. After going through the initial school, home, sleep routine the game begins shifting into something more fantastic. The world is imperiled by fantastic forces that everyone else is too stupid/incompetent/generally apathetic to do anything about it. Vivian decides to go forward alone, progressing against the evil occupying her town, brainwashing the populace, doing ridiculous evil things. Along the way she meets other people like her, people who, for whatever reason, decided to do something. Some she likes, some she doesn't, but in the end these are her allies, and Vivian doesn't turn away help when offered.

This is a very rough sketch of an idea, I'm thinking it has significant humor and meta-jokes (i.e. the characters are semi-aware they exist within a video game). If pressed I could flesh this out a bit more, but that's at least a base for the moment.
