SEED Online, it was a weird game without combat, you and everyone else were on a station stranded on a planet, and you had to coordinate your jobs to try rebuilding parts of the station over time, with a bunch of dumb objectives that were "LET'S TRY TO GET TO THE SPACE STATION IN ORBIT" or "SALVAGE THE MOTHERFUCKING SHIP" or some core drill shit building, skills worked like EVE in that you learned them while asleep in a tube, and the major conflicts to keep the game from going completely chatroom was parts of the station would fall apart over time and you needed to keep things in repair or else shit would go bad and passage ways would break down.


It didn't last even a year after coming out, they didn't market it properly and their publisher pulled funding in about 6 months.

Also this one. It was a blatant WoW clone but somehow, just SOMEHOW, they actually had a chance to compete with them (at least internationally). Then they decided to ramp up the cash shop and kill themselves. I still chuckle at the interviews and blog posts from various devs of the game that flat out admit that the cash shop move ultimately ruined their foothold.

I remember I played Scions of Fate back in the day and there were these chest items that you would open up that typically gave health/mana potions, with a very rare chance of giving you a ring/necklace that were typically worth a lot of money. To be honest, the best part about spiral knights is the art and the music. So damn cozy.

The gameplay isn't all that amazing, but it got better in the last few years. Now we have a dash/dodge move, a shield charge (that can stun enemies) and pets (that act more like special skillsets rather than actual pets).

Haven't played it in a while since the endgame is stale as fuck, especially if you don't have money to go into the shadow lairs.

I've probably played SRO more than anyone on this planet. I got in when it was at it's peak (a little after launch, servers always full, bots fuckin everywhere). I've never had as much fun in an MMO as I did doing guild/server trade runs in silkroad.

Metin2 had the most grueling and tear-inducing upgrade system. You **could** upgrade your items from +0 to +9, but as you went higher, there was a higher chance that your upgrade would fail and the item would be destroyed. And the upgrades were really expensive.

It was good in that it made the most powerful weapons in the game (and the players that owned/made them) famous and valuable.
