They're possible to get out of past a certain point, but against a player as good as M2K it's super difficult. Go watch the most recent M2K vs Hax vids if you want to see someone doing it - Hax manages to DI out of the chain grabs repeatedly and actually beats M2K's Marth on FD as Fox.

It's possible to get out of them, if the person chaingrabbing fucks up (it's not the same timing or input each time, it's only guaranteed up to like 14%, 33% with good DI reads), or with good DI off the sword hits. This mostly worked because he was playing someone worse than him.

And we want them back because they're not broken, they're tricky to pull off, and you can escape from them if you're not bad.
