I wouldn't argue that Karate Joe has that much more potential than the Chorus Kids or any other Rhythm Heaven character. I mean, there are the punches and kicks from his minigame(s), but they'd only cover a few tilts and a smash or two, and the rest would have to be made up. Honestly, I feel like they could make a moveset based around various things from RH (a Crop Stomp move that launches one of those horrible turnips, summoning a mandrill to vomit a golf ball, etc.) and plaster it onto one of a number of RH characters - Karate Joe, Marshal, Rhythm Girl, a monkey, etc. - and it'd work just fine with only minor adjustments for each. So I'll be happy so long as we get some sort of RH character, regardless of who it is.

It wouldn't do anything to prevent people from getting spoiled, because dumbasses on the internet can't comprehend spoiler tags and shitty clickbait sites put things like this in their headlines. As for preventing rumors and leaks, why bother? Once the game comes out in Japan, plenty of people in Japan will be able to collectively confirm the roster by the end of the day. Hell, we'll probably know the roster a few days beforehand thanks to at least one of the leaks proving true, but this would be concrete proof. So it wouldn't serve any practical purpose at all.

I think people need to remember the revealed newcomers are always the ones most appealing to a general audience, because they need to dominate the pre-release advertising with the characters that have built-in popularity, to help the game look good. Secret newcomers can be neat like Mr. Game & Watch, but it's never going to be Snake or anyone else that was too important to keep secret.

Pyrosphere isn't in the 3DS. For all we know Ridley could be playable in a WiiU exclusive mode that lets a 5th players use boss characters. Yellow Devil, Ridley, Master and Crazy Hand. Maybe even Tabuu could have a Subspace themed stage
