>reminder that there is new gameplay footage in a few hours
So, confirmed missions are the hospital intro, Afghanistan, some bits here and there of Mother Base... what else? It's good that they don't show too much, but at the same time I'm scared that this game will be short as fuck.
>MGSV coming out this year
>Silent Hill: Kojima edition
it's been a good couple days
>Ground Zeroes was a single mission
>Takes people 1 hour 20 minutes to finish it on average
I'm sorry you hate consoles so much, Anon. Maybe you'll be a semi-idort one day like the rest of us.
I think you underestimate how hyped people were for MGS2. Hell, if anything, selling the Tanker mission would have made people even more hyped for the main game, and made the Raiden twist that much more of a shock.
TFW this releases in time for Xmas and the ps4 easily reaches 20 million units and finally takes off in Japan
You have to be completely retarded to not get that joke.
>Guess Sonybronies have no humor, just like how Sony has no games.
Wow, great joke Anon. You really upstaged him with that one.
I think they may have deliberately not shown massive parts of the game. For all we know half of the game could be about Solid Snake in a different decade in a different country
We never know the big details of these games until they are released. I feel like with GZ, the trailers and gameplay demos we have seen far too much this time. Can't help but feel Kojima is hiding something major.
Holy fucking shit AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
>Take your console war shit with you
Yeah, you're angry fanboy shitposting is fine, but me finding a joke about a console I own and like funny makes me a console warrior. Makes perfect sense.
Yep, half of the playable area (the top half of the image) is still yet to be revealed. In other words, Afghanistan is not the only open world locale.
I don't get why people are so excited about this. It's essentially a bigger version of peace walker, doesn't have the magic in it from MGS1, 2 and 3 at all. Will get dull very quick.
So, you didn't play GZ and instead just want to associate it with a terrible game just to justify your stupidity?
Great, well I'll be enjoying a great game while you do that, have fun.
Yes it's funny but it relies on gimmicks, just like Peace Walker. The whole game smells Peace Walker in the sense that you are constantly crossing semi-open areas from A to B.
So Peace Walker scaled up is suddenly a different game? It's still just open areas and go from A to B. GZ had zero charm the original trilogy had exactly because that. They completely throw the great level design out of the window for open 'realistic' areas. Very bad move IMO.
I don't see the difference between the silly "you can distract the enemies with porn mags, shoot the exclamation mark to stun enemies and get shat on by birds" of MGS2 compared to the "you can get healed by an ambulance box, hold people up with a banana, and fight a giant dinosaur monster" of Peace Walker.
Metal Gear's story has always been a slightly different tone than the gameplay itself, which acts as a form of levity that kind of cleanses the pallette. Ground Zeroes looks to continue that tone with serious story interrupted by odd videogamey moments and gameplay that's fun to mess around with, combined with the Autistic building and collecting and customizing of PW x100.
Every other MGS is closed areas go from A to B I have no idea what point you're trying to make.
Yawn. If you think it has no charm maybe you ought to clap yourself across the face and retry playing GZ without your damn preconceptions, maybe then you'll find the charm you egoraptor motherfucker.
>The whole game smells Peace Walker in the sense that you are constantly crossing semi-open areas from A to B.
Oh, you're making things up now, shouldn't have taken you seriously.
People who aren't retarded actually like to explore and complete tasks in Metal Gear Games instead of watching a walkthrough before playing and then rushing to the objectives.
I didn't realize that having a fairly general opinion about the game so far instantly ties me to some e-celebrity.
Cool shit buddy
Peace Walker had some pretty cool places. The underground factory, misty forests and temples, and the US base were nice to explore, and the battle with the gunship while Heaven's divide plays and the fight with ZEKE were really awesome, especially with friends.
>Literally NOT posting the better one.
I waited until the thread was locked. Mods were obviously fucking pissed at the degradation of their kiddie console.
>They completely throw the great level design out of the window for open 'realistic' areas. Very bad move IMO.
Well it introduce many new elements too. It makes it less planned and controlled, and more imprevisible. In a way, it forces you to be way more reactive, rather than simply always doing the same predictable things.
We've never had an open world game with actual stealth before. This has the potential to be great.
Because you aren't criticising the game you are talking about "the magic" which is literally egoraptor's argument against any video-game he didn't play during his childhood.
Come back with critique and we can talk "buddy."
Still going with Q1 2015 for my estimate.
See, I don't get Kojima.
First he said he wanted to remove things like the ! alert sign, the cardboard box and have less humor in the game because it's supposed to be darker and shit. Then we get this, which not only brought back the 'iconic' stealth box, but improved it in ways never seen in any MGS as well as bringing back silly things with the whole bikini girl pics printed on the box.
That might be the case if I had presented any of my opinions as arguments in the first place. However, I only expressed my fear that the game might not live up to the nostalgia I've grown for the series over time.
Are we done here?
I hope the PS3 version isn't too shitty. I had no problems with GZ so I should be fine. I hope.
Nah, I played every MGS game since the PSX era. And I know he says he won't do something and ends up doing it afterwards, but I dunno. I guess with the whole rape shit, vagina bombs and child soldiers I wasn't expecting MGS level of silliness in this game.
It's a cool addition tho, I admit I got a chuckle out the new trailer box reveal.
I agree with him though. I love MGS but the direction here feels all over the place, GZ was more subdued and serious outside of the non-canon extra ops for the fans. But TPP seems like a giant backpedal in a lot of ways, he said he wanted to make it more realistic by removing stuff like rations for health and not having floating weapons, but the cardboard box in TPP literally goes up and vanishes into thin air.
I'm not saying I hate it, but it feels like Kojima is a little to easily swayed by fan feedback.
> oh well maybe there is a reason to buy a console after all, it's just $400
> look up local prices
> $800 for the console
> $90 for the shittiest version of the game
> translated only, ordering from europe/murica is impossible because lol we don't ship where we don't work
> in the meantime PC prices are lower than in other parts of the world
> mfw pc release is not confirmed nor denied
There are 12 months in a year, which is split into 4 quarters. Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4.
12/4=3 so every three months is a quarter.
Jan - Feb - Mar = Q1
Apr - May - Jun = Q2
Jul - Aug - Sep = Q3
Oct - Nov - Dec = Q4
The portable games were the only ones I didn't fully played, I ended up reading a synopsis of the games and watching cutscenes.
I was a little upset that suddenly PW was canon, I gave up on it when you reach Dr. Strangelove and how she created an A.I off The Boss.
I'm not saying it hasn't, just that Kojima specifically stated quite clearly that he wanted to make this installment more realistic and serious before, then he kind of goes and make it like the old games again anyway.
It's important to remember that Kojima while his name is plastered everywhere isn't actually god when it comes to the series, his staff often lobby him to do what they want throughout the series. And that's okay, part of being an effective director/designer is encorporating feedback.
All of what you are saying is bullshit and hyperbole made up by /v/ though.
All Kojima said was that the game would be darker and more serious, and that certain elements would change. He said that "despite this, I can't help but put in stupid jokes"
Then when reflex mode and marking was shown off, /v/ just assumed the game was turned into casual shit splinter cell ripoff and box was removed. He did consider getting rid of the ! at one point though, however, as soon as he implemented marking, he brought it back, as part of the marking system.
You surely mean Xbronies, right?
It's funny, I started up Ground Zeroes and was all ready for something grimdark and humourless and casual, and then suddenly Miller's all "HEY SNAKE TRY NOT TO GET HYPOTHERMIA IN THE RAIN" and did a double take. It was such a random and strange thing for him to say, but also felt pretty "metal gear". Then I tried out that radio intel thing looking at a warehouse and he went on about how there's treasure inside.
And then the last of the XOF patches was up Snake's ass the whole time.
For something that was supposed to be all gritty and hardcore I sure did laugh.
You forgot Smarch.
no, it's going to be really shit on the PS3.
you should probably pirate it on the PS3 for story and then get it on the PS4 for gameplay
also, you could use it as an excuse to buy a PS4 if you're going to be playing on it more often
CONSOLE PEASANT STATUS:
BLOWN THE FUCK OUT
B T F O
Welp, if it comes out the same time as consoles then I'll be selling my ps4
if not then I'll buy it for ps4 first. Cause I won't have it spoiled for me while I have to wait another year for it to come to PC
I dont want to believe it. It will hurt like hell when they say it was a bug/prank/chinese hackers
>Invade another player's Mother Base
>Use fultons to steal all their shipping crates and goats
This really is the Game of the Forever
>fulton all of their soldiers
>fulton all of their tanks
>fulton all of their Metal Gears
>fulton all of their rations
>fulton all of their cardboard boxes
>player has to rebuild entire base from scratch
its fucking happening
>WII-U IN TOP SLOT, NO CAMO ON BOTTOM
NO! It's Wii U on top, 100% Brick Camo on the bottom.
I really don't give a damn about Kojima anymore. After MGS3, every game he has released has sucked. MGS 2 was bearable. Kojimafags are the worst. You guys eating up his new game, even when you were released a paid demo and ate that shit, too. Video game integrity is dead.
>Invade another player's Mother Base
>It's just filled with goats
> fulton wolves
> train them to attack base invaders
>kill all of his goats
>All my soldiers were killed
>Head to the base of the men who did this
>Kill all their goats
The cycle remains unbroken
Well, if it makes you feel any better, a great deal of the pre-release MGS trailers focus on one area of the game. MGS2 was mostly tanker stuff, and MGS4 was mostly the Middle East area.
Basically as opposed to
>this game is shit because of "magic"
you are saying
>this game might be shit because it lacks "magic"
I fail to see why that's any better. I hope we are done you fucking mong.
