This actually looks pretty good for a 3DS game. And it mostly runs at 60fps(not sure about the 3D though). Makes me wonder how games will look towards the end of its lifetime.
Yeah, man, though I wish people would stop saying that he's OP. One of the Bowsers in that match plays tourneys all of the time and that was a tournament full of camping scrubs.
Leffen ain't got shit against Armada. It feels good to see his ass getting whopped by the clearly superior players. Glad he's banned from native tourneys.
First two hits are power-shielded(notice the white burst things from both players) and then as Fox jumps down from the platform they clash three attacks, cancelling each other out.
>Eh do you remember RoF? You know.. where he 6:0'ed him?
In Fox dittos. It's no news that Leffen has a strong Fox, but, against Armada's Peach, he really doesn't stand a chance.
Fucking CPU's, man.
There's nothing more shameful in PM than winning in netplay on a new save, getting
and then losing.
He beat his peach awhile back too in BEAST4...
Armada's Fox isn't a joke either. Armada has a insane punish game with any character he picks up.
Must suck to practice a character's cool desynch combos only to have them invalidated by a boring infinite.
>playing brawl 2.0 competitively
Naw I don't suck sakurai's dick like the rest of /v/. The game will be good but I can wait until 6 months later about people actually thinking it will be good competitively.
Oh come on, anon, I'm not young enough to fall for that post.
I remember my friends thought I would suck ass at brawl simply becuase it didn't have the "glitches". I didn't even get to play the game until a week after launch(lmfao at buying a wii). Was hyped as hell to play. I still kicked their asses at the game because I had smash fundamentals. You can know all tech you want but learning how to incorporate it with good spacing and reads is hard as hell. Either way 2 weeks later we got bored and went back to melee because brawl a shit. Never touched that shitty game again until P:M
Nintendude actually did an AMA on
le Reddittalking about how he learned how to do interesting desynchs but he's basically known as "that guy who wobbles" because the technique makes every other grab combo obsolete.
>me and my friends want to get decent at PM
>pick up wave-dashing, l-cancelling, etc
>friends just sit in a corner and wait for you to come to them, i run into them constantly like a retard
what do i even do in this situation? i feel like i'm the only one who wants to get better, while one friend just rolls into one corner and does Fair until it connects, if it misses, he rolls back into the corner and tries again until it connects. he plays G&W, I play falcon
fuck you if you're reading this
It's called pushing the joystick left or right twice.
No one takes smash competitive scene seriously. I only care about mango cause he's with c9 now.
You didn't answer my question. What's wrong with wavedashing? Would adding wavedashing to Smash 4 make it a worse game? Would removing it from Melee make it a better game?
You're avoiding the real issue here.
>babbies willingly giving money
>decide to have one person enter it to steal it
They even have Hearthstone pro players.
>wavedashing being unintentional is fact
Falcon is a dash dance character who basically fishes for reads.(If you ever see high level falcon play you notice that s2j and darkrain seem to be able to read people minds.). Abuse this againest your friend. Look for some tech chases too since G&W has a shitty tech roll. If he's camping just try to get into his head and go for hard reads.
Nigga you would be surprised at how shitty most of the real life smash community is at smash bros. They're are casuals who still think they are hot shit because they can beat a level 9 CPU.
The only reason casuals don't like wavedashing is because they didn't know about it until they had been playing the game for years. While wavedashing had always been there, they see it as a new mechanic being introduced to their favorite game. They wish they could go back to the days of ignorance and are just plain unwilling to adapt to the now changed game.
Anti-melee fags ARE this retarded.
>people STILL arguing about wavedashing
Melee is thirteen years old, get over it you fucking faggots.
>not catching the beam sword
M2K? More like M2Terrible player who should seriously practice item catching.
thanks niggas. captain falcon is fun as fuck, connecting multiple grabs, up airs and knees is horribly satisfying. i picked up lucas because i used him in brawl, but his combos feel so easy and brain dead it isn't even fun to win.
He whiffed some input, although I have no idea what he was going for. You can see the fucking chain animation right before he gets smacked with the sword.
M2k didn't just collect frama data on moves back when he was truly autistic. Nigga use to also find the frame data on how different characters throw items. Nigga is a mad genius.
He beat PP when nobody said he could do it. It also meant he got into winners side of top 8, which is huge.
>there are people who think edgeguarding was casual shit that took no skill
i use lucas or marth when I actually want to win, i can zone with them a lot harder than they can to me. it just isn't as satisfying as winning with someone who lacks any projectiles or zoning.
no momentum transfer from sprint to jump
knockback too high compared to hitstun, combos nigh impossible
no l cancelling with super long landing lag means aerial approaches are kinda shit even if you connect
all the problems that made Brawl campy, defensive and boring seem to have returned
I'll still play it with friends when it's released, but that girl who went to the invitational was right when she said competitive players would probably stay with Melee and PM
>competitive players would probably stay with Melee and PM
Fucking good. They can stay in the past while everyone who doesn't try to make a party game into some serious business will be having fun with the new game.
The whole top 8 was shit because of hungryfag and his anti-hype matches.
The first game on stream of the day for top 8 was hbox vs armadas young link and it was boring as fuck.
PPMD needed a doc of his own, nigga was having a stroke.
>he doesn't fight for freedom
Sorry, I don't think using exploits is an example of skill in a game.
That's like saying you're amazing at megaman because you found a glitch that makes you invincible.
Play by the rules the game INTENTIONALLY put there and then we'll talk.
Don't take it literally shitlord.
Wavedashing, like being invincible in Megaman would be, is going against the design of the game, and making it unfair (yes, I understand megaman is a single player game but if you consider the challenge the level presents you as an entity you can be unfair against, it's unfair.)
That's fucking horseshit. Unless he actually physically harms someone, or there's a rule saying you have to be silent during matches or something, then it shouldn't fucking matter what he says to or about people in the tournament.
Nigga if you can make two entire countries playerbases hate you enough to ban you from entering tournaments there you probably should check yourself.
Then you ban him. But until then I don't see why he should be banned for saying shit.
So? If newcomers are deterred by it then newcomers don't play, that's how I see it. I'm pretty much a casual when it comes to smash but if I went to a tournament I would both expect my ass to get handed to me and expect to be ridiculed for it
Shit, man, you have low selfesteem or something?
The first time I went to a Smash tourney I was expecting to meet people, which I did, not to get ridiculed, of course I did not expect to win anything on the tourney itself.
I don't know.
If you're not in a position where you've already got people you're playing with then PM isn't going to be enough to get a new Wii. It would be like playing any other fighting game in single player.
I figured if you've got people who'd be into it there's a good chance they already are and you'd already know about and have played with PM.
That's actually fucking interesting. It looks like they're really trying to flesh out the metagame and that's a very good thing.
There's no turbo mode there, otherwise they'd have the turbo glow around them.
I think the issue is that when you have a community like smash that doesn't always get outside support, growing the community becomes important. Very few people are going to want to get in on a community that is hostile to newcommers.
Plus, if everything in that post is factual, then Leffen went WAY beyond just mocking people for their skill and actually mocked them due to medical conditions, made up lies about people, and just generally acted like an asshole for no reason. There's zero reason for that.
>tfw put untold numbers of hours into these games and will do so for the upcoming game and yet I'll never be on this skill level of play
It's not just putting in hours, it's putting in hours into the right things.
You can totally do it nigga, you just gotta believe.
>it's putting in hours into the right things.
Can you elaborate on this?
The only "excuse" I gave myself for never being this good was just I essentially had no friends that played it on that "level" and reach those heights, and the few times I did play with someone irl they were terrible and was just for casual fun (which is fun, too). The only "serious" matches I would have would be over wifi people I met, and of course that incorporates lag and other crap. And it wasn't like I played with them nonstop, either. Idk.
Like you gotta practice seriously and train. Not just casual fun. You need to go into a practice session knowing what you need to practice. You need to play people with a similar mindset and improve. You need to watch an dissect high level sets.
Go to tourneys. It's important to play against people your skill level if you ever want to get better at these games. The most you can do by yourself is acquire tech skill, but having a ton of tech and no fighting experience won't get you far in tourneys.
Versus matches help teach the matchups, the stage knowledge, spacing, and mindgames.
I played at my first tournament last weekend. Tied for 13th out of 51 in Melee, 17th out of 48 in PM.
Did I do good?
So, basically yeah, I need others, it falls on the need/requirement of other people for myself to improve.
As suspected, it's why I can and won't ever reach that level no matter how sperg overtime I go into these games, I don't know people, at all. At best I have wifi matches and hurderp level 9 CPU
Thanks for the replies though, I had a feeling it's what it was.
You can learn tech skill and execution on your own, but you won't be able to properly apply them until you play other good people. The hardest part about smash is using your tools properly once you have them
Well, you can do that on wifi. But it seems the real key to be amazing is to actually go to tournaments, know people in real life you can meet with and practice. Not just fighting random tryhard #58313 on Gamefaqs or whatever shit site challenging you. Idk.
Word. Don't be discourage when you get shat on by people who are obviously worse than you too.(It happens). Keep practicing and keep playing real people. I need to do the second. Fuck being a NEET.
He is superb at the game. I got to watch him play at the tourney. My friend's first set was against him, so he obviously didn't get very far.
Thanks. I think people are thirsty for tourneys in Washington. It was the first year of the tournament, but the TO was talking about organizing more tournaments as the year goes along. I'm in the midwest for college (and unfortunately I can't make it to Big House 4), but hopefully I can make it to more tournaments. It'd be cool to see metroid again in person.
Also, Peach rep was surprisingly high at the tourney I went to. There must've been at least 4 Peaches other than me that made it far. The Peach ditto was something I wasn't prepared for.
USA, FL. I'm a shyfag though, can't really handle group settings. If I knew someone to play 1 on 1 with that'd be different, but I don't. I'll stick to wifi when the new game comes out, I guess.
You can always check on Smashboards to see if there are any locals you can visit. Assuming you aren't living in some backwoods place like Greenland, you should be able to find people to play with nearby.
No johns nigga. Go to a local uni. I go to school in FL and people fucking love smash at college. Especially USF and FSU. Even M2K came out of his cage to play smash and that nigga is awkward.
That's fucking awesome what are you talking about?
They're not buddies they're besties.
Keep up the pressure on my G&W. I'm shit at this game, and you know it.
I don't know how people can enjoy Melee with Falco in it. At least Broken Knight does't have a "free kill" move. Fuck that super broke dair. Smash hasn't been fun to watch since it came out.
For Brawl, I know the Jiigs Final Smash glitch on Bridge of Eldin.
For Melee there's that crazy "black hole" thing with fox, falco, and peach, and G&W with 3 PK flashes.
Well, that was easy enough. Neat, I'll have to try these out.
None of his moves can kill you at 0% for being off the stage, and none of them take 0 seconds of experience to master. Falco's dair has both of those awful properties. A child could win with Falco.
You start with one Aura charge, you can hold 2 max at a time. Aura charge is built by doing damage, uptaunt adds 5 points to it (50 is one charge)
It can be expended on using any B+special with A
Neutral is spirit bomb, up+B cancels and can be moved out of with attacks or airdodge (often handy for just a little more recovery), side+B makes it more powerful, down+B cancels
He's a pretty solid character
No, most people are straight fucked no matter the stage. Some have a recovery with enough vertical to save them at 0%, but most don't, and using it above 20% will get them killed.
>if i get hit off the stage i literally can't do anything but get hit by his dair
you can sweetspot with marth
peach hits falco with the umbrella before his dair hits her
fox is fucking fox and has 50 options
pikachu can go around the edge or sweetspot it before falco can get a hitbox out
falcon is probably the most screwed out of everyone but his recovery sucks balls in general anyways
jigglypuff can fucking do whatever she wants because she has 5 jumps
sheik has invincibility on her recovery move and 99% of the time you are gonna get hit by a punish ON the stage and not spiked
All you need to know in brawl is maybe DACUS and AGT. The rest of the shit carries from melee. Melee has way more tech skill fuck outta here. Brawl is pleb tier easy to git gud since there is barely a tech barrier.
>Hungrybox and Keitaro gets so hype they stun the fucking microphones for a minute
Holy fuck that fight.
Only the Euro scene. The NA scene didn't give a shit about Leffen. They just boo'd him when he was being a douche. Leffen is basically an american stuck in a euro's body. He was on Westballz house shit talking and westballz basically told him to fuck off lmfao.
>He could've jumped out of a falcon kick.
This is the sort of things I think of when you are playing competitive games. Yea you can be an asshole if you want, you probably shouldn't. But if you want to be an asshole no on is going to stop you.
Oh you made a bad call and lost $40,000 of real money. Well you're a fucking donkey. And here's my dancing donkey to drive it home.
>I would both expect my ass to get handed to me and expect to be ridiculed for it
...that is not at all what happens. Yeah you'll get your ass handed to you but there are people of all skill levels at these things, nobody is going to ridicule you for being bad.
To be fair the smash community is a little too nice for their own good. It's the best and worst quality about the competitive scene to be honest.
For example, there was drama between Triforce and M2K a while back. Instead of telling that french nigger to fuck off, M2K was kind enough to give him a good will percentage of his winnings or something(I'm not entirely sure about this). M2K even defended EMP after all the bullshit they have done. I love M2K but sometimes he's too nice of a person.
I'm pretty sure he's going directly from one aerial attack into another aerial attack, like nair into bair, which would require one to cancel into the other, meaning interrupt one with the other.
I might be looking at it wrong though.
If this person is here, I got good on Wi-Fi matches via AllisBrawl and Smashboards because I met up with consistently good people and played against them. Definitely find some people who are good at the game, it'll help immensely. Combo videos are good for thinking about how to go against others as well.
Yes, you can notice some of the more choreographed bits like when they throw bombs which collide with each other right in the middle and when they both go off the ends at the same time without a prompt.
I faced a wifi warrior at a P:M event and the dude had a legit good zelda. Only person there to compliment my shield pressure too(I was the first good fox he faced since playing spacies online is suicide.) Dude read me like a book alot of times.
M2K doesn't dislike PM, he just thinks Melee is better at this point in time and that PM has certain problems that needs to be adjusted. The video you just saw was one of the issues PM had, Sonic was overpowered as fucking all hell at that point (PM 2.6).
PM needs some metagame, harder recoveries and less huge tweaks to characters and it seems like they're fixing that. At least they acknowledge their problems.
I can't fucking stand watching any Wizzrobe match with commentary.
It drives me crazy how everyone sucks his dick when he's playing one of the most auto pilot characters in the game. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the guy. I can't blame him for playing to win when there's money on the line. I just wish everyone would stop talking about him like he's some kind of prodigy.
IC's are shit without wobbles. They are pretty shitty in doubles as well. If you get grabbed you deserved it against the IC's. Their grab range is horrific and doing a consistent wobbles in bracket is hard.
He is 15 dude.
When you were 15 you were being a fag probably playing your first FPS game ever, Halo CE.
He is winning real life money, if you don't suck his dick then you are a just a mad hater.
Don't think we're on the same page here
>mfw I like all the smash games and don't understand the reasoning behind this cancerous as shit divide
>>257619564 is right, most Ice Climber mains from Melee and Brawl don't even play them in PM. Fly plays Dedede, Chu normally plays Kirby and Nintendude plays G&W.
>Ice Climbers dead last in usage by a wide margin
>only character that has zero first place finishes at any tournament
I put hundreds of hours into 64, Melee, and Brawl, just got into playing PM, and am hype as fuck for Smash 4.
Isai is the undisputed GOAT of 64
Ken frequently looks like a scrub nowadays and was only as dominant as he was back in the day because Marth is a much easier character to play solid fundamentals with than the spacies are
Most modern spacie tech was unheard of or deemed too hard to be worth the risk back during his reign
People back than were impressed be zelgadis and nowadays that shit is pleb tier easy. Imagine going in time and showing them westballz/silent wolf's shield pressure. They probably jizz their pants. The punish game people have now is also insane compared to old melee.
Yea I knew it was PM. I've noticed a little glint when you're rushing forward after charging it all the way, is that the frame you're supposed to input on? Spent a good while in training mode once just trying it with different timings to no avail.
you can actually create a project m iso by replacing brawl files with pm files
this will mean that you won't have the option of disabling your gecko cheats to play vbrawl or brawl- or whatever, though
