The ressource system is now a combination mini-game that takes a lot of time and is tedious as fuck. You need food and water to upgrade a planet to Tier 1. You need 2 food, 1 water and a T1 ressource to upgrade a planet to Tier 2, etc. This just means you need to find correct planets, colonize them with a single click (it's automated but takes a while) and then "link" the planets so the ressource chain makes sense.

Diplomacy is a mini-game with powerful cards - you can steal planets and even entire systems with a voting mini-game.

Income resets every 3 minutes and you have to spend it, can't save money. This means you are limited in terms of big projects by your current income and can never build anything huge until your empire can stem it in one turn.

You only build 1 large ship and then have a cloud of small ships as its escort. No more awesome fleets with specialized ships.

Orbitals are now static, you don't design them, they come with a pre-defined function and you just link planets to them (to export ressources) and gain bonuses.

That aside it also lacks content right now - only few research fields, no unlocks, no fancy modules. That's about the one thing that will get fixed, the rest is fucked in basic design premise.

It's just not Star Ruler anymore, it's some board game RTS shit.

last time i played a gta was vice city and i had printed myself a map with everything required for 100% completion written onto it. i was surprised at how easy it was to fit all of the 100% completion goals onto a single sheet of paper and thought it would be pretty nice to have it in html form with webms that popup and show you where all the individual stunts/weapons/hidden packages are. plus a checklist, strategy, and tips & tricks. i could make it a long term goal to produce this kind of guide for every gta game.

Oh yeah sorry, ICE Enhancer and the one mod that replaces the original textures with much higher res ones. ICE Enhancer makes the shaders really good and everything really shiny.

ICE Enhancer sucks. I tried 3 and it had these awful lighting overlays at night that looked like something from 1999. Besides that, it lends more focus to being cinematic than realistic.
