what makes me angry is the lack of even distribution of views among people streaming. I saw Eve Online had quite a few viewers one night and figured "well it's been a while, maybe I can watch someone doing a roam".

So /v/, whether Twitch dies or lives or whatever remember, FUCK the "big streamers". You always get quality from the small ones with nearly no viewers. They're generally more friendly, not in it for the money (a lack of a "donate!" button is a good start) and truely humbled to have people watching.

To be fair, there are a ton of people that have no idea how to stream in the first place. They think showing up for 8 hours a day is enough. They need to interact with their chat and actually put work in to be entertaining.

The games like Minecraft have such a large following because the streamers actually work together and support one another. That and minecraft has a shit ton of mods that are easy to install and play along with.

I'm an Aussie streamer. Just recently cracked 110 followers. It's all just down to the game you're streaming. A thing that makes aussies not so prevalent on Twitch is that AbbotNet is fucking terrible. I live in Asia so I stream at 1080p on my gigabit internet. A lot of people dont like to watch 480p streams unless the streamer is REALLY awesome or they're watching it on their phones or something.

But it just depends on your fanbase. I usually have 1-2 dozen watching and my chat is usually pretty busy. What game do you stream? Do you interact with em much or do you just play the game? For views I say your best bet is to stream mornings/arvos on Sat, Sun and Mondays. You'll only have a small cult following of 1-5 hardcore fans streaming in the Aussie timezone, usually consisting of earlybird Americans and Europeans on their day off.

If you do Sat Sun and Mon in the morning and an hour or two after lunch you get the American primetime and as you know yanks fucking love aussie accents.

Then after that it's just be humble, friendly, awesome and dont do any "donate please" faggotry or have a custom-UI/webcam that takes up more than 1/10th of the screen and you're good.
