Mario galaxy and Zelda: Skyward Sword used the maximum of the wii especially SS as many slowdowns prove it. Actually I'm pretty sure Nintendo wanted more horsepower for both games as the detailed models and textures prove it when you emulate these games. Just fucking look at how much better wii games look on an emulator.

I think Nintendo could benefit from a better hardware, they make consoles but they only do it because morons will buy outdated hardware. They have really good game designers so they will do fine as 3rd party, they are not Sega. Actually I kinda want Sega to take Nintendo's place in the console market, their hardware always had the horsepower needed for the generation and the Dreamcast was way ahead of its time with its online and memory card usable as handheld/aditional screen. If they made a dreamcast 2 with that same philosophy it would be awesome.

If you straight up port it and crank up draw distance and apply AA it would still run at 60fps due to the PS4 raw power. If Nintendo designed the game with PS4 in mind it would also have higher resolution textures, higher draw distance, proper anti-aliasing and still run at 60fps.

the core problem is that devs wanted to push graphics last gen as a way to sell their systems, then it turned into a shitfight of who can outdo who with the flashier visual effects, companies quickly dropped standards like 60fps and even moved to tone down newer things like full hd, This gen they are going even further, LOD distance is becoming disgustingly short, 10 fucking metres, are they even serious.

To be fair a game with mediocre at best gameplay and stunning graphics will beat a game with stunning gameplay and mediocre graphics.

Because TLoU was designed to be pretty, not run great. Are you fucking retared or what? It's devs decision to make the game run at 30fps not a console limitation. Hell, most of PS2 games run at 60fps, DMC 4 runs at 60fps on PS3. TLoU Remaster runs at 60fps too btw. And please don't bring the "oh look it has a few slowdowns to 45fps! Wii U wins again" MK8 has a few slowdowns too, even your PC can have slowdowns when lots of shit happen on screen, it doesn't mean the game generaly doesn't run at 60fps.

To go back to my point, better hardware means more horsepower for devs to use, if Nintendo could develop on a more powerful console than the Wii U they would of course target 60fps, but with the aditional power they could increase texture resolution, details, draw distance and add proper anti-aliasing.
