That's pretty much why I played it. It was one of the most enthralling times I've had with a game. Marking out cave systems, building a modest cliff-side house, making plans for something grand.

There are mod packs that do it for you, with their own launcher, different mod pack options, and a balance team to balance things between the different mods and remove redundancies.

Feed the Beast gives you mod packs that include world crafting books, machines, magical research, bees, gene splicing (ocelot gene to scare creepers away), the twilight forest dimension, and so on.

The makers of FTB are from reddit but I don't give a shit where they hang out as long as they make a fantastic product (this is some stale criticism I hear on /v/ when FTB is mentioned).

Mind you the game gets heavy, even with optimization mods, but it's stable. Enjoy your nuclear reactors.

There are/were mods that let you build something up to ~1,000 blocks and then turn it into an entity you can steer up to 3 types (elevator purely on Y grid, ship/retractable bridges purely on X and Z grid, and aircraft X,Y,Z). But it's really not for multiplayer due to lag.

Last mod I checked that did this was Zeppelin mod, but it was many versions ago and probably discontinued.

The first time It's amazing. The rain is perfect, the music sets a nice mood. But after a few sessions the game's lack of anything to do sets in really fast.

People talk about the magic of the first few nights when you get the game. In pre-nether alpha and before, that feeling lasted a lot longer because you progressed through the world at a slower rate, and it felt like your actions had more weight. Whatever shitty tower you built was a huge accomplishment because you didn't get the cobble from 2 minutes of farming with an efficiency pick, and if you fell off while building you'd actually die. Without enchanted armour you were fragile, and you could only carry so many health items when you went caving, so there was more of a feeling of danger (admittedly still not much).

Notch accidentally made something with potential and then corrected himself and went back to bad game design.

I started playing the Blood n Bones pack recently and it's pretty good, not for people who hate the hunger bar though because it depletes in about 2 minutes if you're running around and you can die of hunger, but atleast you can see when you are a bout to lose a point.Also there are no vanilla tools. You gotta use tinker's construct tools and even then the wooden ones are disabled.
Night becomes a real pain in the ass too since creepers can blow up even if theres a wall between you and them. I've spent the first 3 days hiding in a mountain and then went to mine some coal. Some gases came out of it that i didn't see and bllew up when i put a torch down

I'm not autistic myself I hope, but what helped me was watching some youtube videos on minecraft tutorials. Once you pick up a few good rules and ideas, basic patterns that look nice and architectural looks that are pretty, you can freestyle a decent home that looks leagues better than what you normally build.

If that doesn't work, get some nice texture packs. You don't need a shader to make lighting look nice either, just use MCpatcher.

I can't even play the game properly any more. Me and some friends chipped in for a server once and after 2 days of collaboration, i started to siphon off materials to my secret base and i slowly made it fortified and more powerful than the main, community base. I had my own enchantment table and everything. Once i made a few enchantments and potions, i rode into town on my stallion with diamond horse armour (thank you based nether) and proceeded to BTFO everybody. No one was prepared. No one even had any sort of weapons on them because the main base was so peaceful and well lit.

People who complain about hunger are literally retarded. Before it you had to fill a third of you inventory with bread just to go spelunking for an hour. Now you just throw a stack of carrots or whatever into slot 8 and you're set for days.

Hey guys, since this turned into a 4craft thread; I figure I should post about this.

I'm just about done devving the new Factions plugin that delay wanted. It's called simpleFactions and it's pretty chill.

I've got faction creation, land protection, faction chat (ally, enemy, local, global, and custom channels), a 3d chunk claiming system, multiple power systems, new ways to gain/lose power (king of the hill style), and a whole lot more already finished. It's got a shitload of config options, and you can edit save files and config files on the fly (no reloading required)

I could post the jar if anyone is interested in testing it out. I haven't had the opportunity to get a lot of people on the plugin in order to stress test it.

I think what people want from Minecraft is a sense of danger, exploration, adventure.

When we played in Alpha, we built our houses, we were proud of our houses, it's where we kept our things, it's where we were safe, but we imagined the game was going to focus on the other things. We leave our house, explore, find adventure, return with our reward. The best way to get food was to go out hunting, because animals spawned on grass. Food didn't stack so you had to prepare a decent amount before you left, and there was no regenerating health so if you ran out of food then your adventure could be very shortlived.

The adventure update came out, giving us some things to go out and find while we explore, but.. nothing much has been added since then (except the water temples, and horses, and some decorative blocks).

If the game focused on exploration again, not providing tools for map creators, and made exploration rewarding by giving the players unique blocks with new mechanics, we'd get some of the lost feeling back.

For now, I'm just going to build a city.

All one needs to do is boil water to make it potable. You don't need a fancy ass purifier to make it drinkable. If anything they could just make a solar still item and make it act like a furnace, You put bottled water inside the still and a bucket full of water and it will distill it over time.

Seriously, the cauldron has no other purpose. Can't cook with it (wouldn't it make sense to be able to make mushroom/Rabbit stew in there? how the fuck do you make stew on a wood block), can't drink out of it, and using it for potions is literally retarded. Infinite water from a water source block, or 1 batch of potions per transported bucket of water. It's fuckin goofy.

To answer your second question, auto melon/pumpkin farms are pretty simple, cobble generators, redstone clocks, automated lighting systems, most door systems, an arming station (if you've got slime blocks), a dispenser that'll dispense an amount of goods quickly at 1 button press, any mob grinding smotherer, etc.
