>game ends on a cliffhanger
>sequel completely ignores it
>gets a sequel many years later
>its casualized piece of shit
>game is lousy
>ends on a terrible cliffhanger
>never gets a sequel
>people will still defend Beyond Good and Evil to this day
>The Suffering Ties that bind
>midway is dead
>Second game ends on a cliffhanger
>Third game is a prequel
I came into this thread JUST to post Metal Arms.
That and BG&E.
>You will never save Pey'j from the Domz infection
>You will never know how Jade is bind to the domz
>you will never again experience an Ancel game that is not a 2D platformer
>If it comes the artstyle will be fucked up
>every damn E3 I am waiting
>Game comes out
>Sequel comes out
>It's even better, it's the pinnacle of its genre and one of the best games ever made
>Sequel ends on a cliffhanger for the end of the trilogy
>Sequel isn't advertised by the publisher so it doesn't sell well
>Publisher sees shit sales and cancels work on the third game
>IPs shuffled around the corporate graveyard
>There will NEVER EVER be a resolution to the series
god damn it stop reminding me, I wanted to forget
SiN and Half Life taught me to never get invested in an episodic series
> Ends on a cliff hanger
>Last Bonus chapter unlocks once getting all A's
>Last Bonus chapter ends on another fucking cliffhanger separate from the main cliff hanger
I hate all you motherfuckers for reminding me that it will never exist
>never know who Phi really is
>never know who Diana is and what her role was
>never know who Brother is
>never know whether Junpei finally gets reunited with fucking Akane for a happy ending
>Control f ''darksiders''
I know there are those who feel my pain
I still don't know what that video was actually supposed to be. A tech demo like the FF7 one? It's obviously not an actual teaser since they've confirmed they're not working on the game.
Reminder that the VLR fake thread a week ago got your hopes up.
>game is story centric
>game sets up a sequel
>it completely undermines the narrative in a nonsensical way
Sequels don't HAVE to have the same characters, you know?
I haven't played the second one and I sort of don't even want to. I went into the first with all the hype around the series "oh man it needs to be continued dude, you're going to love it thq rip"
I couldn't help but laugh while playing it. "Man, this game isn't even complete" I thought "People wanted more of this?" I thought "I'm not even going to play the second one" I decided.
Didn't the artstlyle kinda give it away? Anyway enjoy The Bourne Identity: Belgian Comic Edition m8, it's great
>you will never save Sev
>I don't care for Karen Traviss bullshit
>Hopefully there will be Republic Commando 2 Somewhere in the future
It's easier to do once the series established that it has a new protagonist every game. But it's always going to be hard the first time. Players get attached to characters, and publishers hate to take risks.
Can Dark Messiah's ending can be considered Cliffhanger?
"Let's rule the world, son"
A huge light appear
Nothing else appear
Nope, they're still doing alright. Hopefully the South Park game racked in some dosh for them.
They really want to do a sequel to AP, but Sega owns the IP and hates it, so that will probably never happen unless they somehow buy it back.
I restarted the mission thinking I could save him when you can't.
Upon reflection, it seems I had a few games confused, but still
They're obviously good at making sequels for other games, it's a pity they're not allowed to advance their own IP. Especially since AP was fucking great after the major bugs were gone.
>To be continued
>that game no one talks about because it wasn't popular
Got into the game with no expectations at all
(bought it on sale for like 3$ a year after release),
I'll be damned if I don't want a sequel.
>A villain that actually makes you want to punch him in the face
>Them secrets and plot-twists
>All of the reactive plot details that change due to minor bullshit
>All of that "Holy fuck, why can I do this?"
Expecially since they pretty much have the style of the game down now, leaves them with some more time to do more worldbuilding.
And hire animators that aren't shit. Hopefully.
>tfw we'll never know how Fastlane ends
>game ends on a cliffhanger
>sequel gets announced
What's the Firefly of video games?
>protagonist was an ex-villain
>sequel introduces new protagonist
>sequel's antagonist was supposed to be the protagonist of the first game but the devs wussed out at the last second and made the antagonist one of the first NPCs you meet
>jsrf will never have at least a HD remake
please don't bring back those memories
>game ends in a cliffhanger
>sequel it's finally coming to the west
>game ends of cliffhanger
>gets a sequel that resolves said cliffhanger, has another minor one in the ending of that though
>another sequel is made years later, solves that cliffhanger
>but it also ends on a fucking cliffhanger
>there is no word on a fourth game
>the plot will never be resolved
>even if there is another game it will also likely end on a cliffhanger
And fuck you too buddy.
And fuck you too KONAMI.
>There's 2 more times that the Earth will be in danger
>Viewtiful Joe 3 will never happen
tfw you realize that Mass Effect took most of its aesthetics from Advent Rising
>The Trilogy Begins
You dont know pain till you've played Republic Commando
GS3 was an abomination. It tried to drive on nothing but nostalgia and failed, points of no return out the ass, the shitty forced light vs dark thing, all the characters were soulless, the plot went from nowhere to nowhere and worst of all was the handholding where they put a sign right next to every (already piss easy) puzzle telling you the solution. It was downright insulting how retarded the devs deemed their audience
But maybe that's why you liked it :^)
>mfw they were planning on an Imperial Commando which will never see the light of day.
>The streets are in trouble again? Who's gonna rise to the call, huh? Remember, the streets don't wait for no one!
Dead is better when EA/Disney are in charge.
>game doesn't end on a cliffhanger
>consumers beg for sequels
>shambling corpse of an IP as old as vidya itself trudges on forever
Also Okami, though it wasn't a blatant cliffhanger, so it's okay I guess.
>sequel is announced
> it's for the psp and game play is dumbed down and characters turned into typical stereotypes but it'seems okay but hope sequel comes back console
> sequel gets announced
> psp again but this time, it's not getting localized. And the story is even better than second one
Fuck you Sega. Fuck your fucking shitty ass blue autistic rodent. Fuck your fucking shit. Are you cunts afraid of money or something? You get your consoles trashed and all the good ip you get, you fucking trash it so you can make another Dumpster diving Sonic Game? Go commit sudoku, you pieces of actual literal turtle shit. Get fucking Lego stepping cancer.
Rest in Peace MetalArms: Glitch in the System.
Nobody on this fucking board ever remembered you.
Never even got to see what a morbot looked like..
DIS REGARD THAT, I SUCK MAJOR COCK.
Though I will take those cocks proudly now that I know I'm not alone (seriously in all my years of posting about it, I've never seen a mention of this game other than now.)
Knowing /v/ I'm surprised this isn't here yet.
Although it wasn't technically a cliffhanger so...
I don't even want Beyond Good and Evil 2 to happen anymore.
It would just end up being a generic Ubisoft game anyways.
>take over the towers to unlock new missions, Jade!
>Game is set out to be a trilogy from the beginning
>First part comes out
>Lel guys thanks for the money we're out
Fuck Banner Saga and FUCK Kickstarter
C'est bizarre, qui ferait une telle chose?
Well it does. It determines what party members you get/lose. Some people you need to constantly agree with/help to or they leave your party etc. Some people you can only unlock by for example agreeing with a proposal from an unrelated character (that you can also not even have at that moment if you fucked up somewhere) to train additional archers for the group. Some decisions lead to getting rare/powerful items too like solving a riddle at that one shrine.
>game is amazing
>everybody loves it and begs for a sequel
>developers don't seem to care
>tons of rumors of a sequel and all of them turn out false
>developers busy making other shit and not caring
>mfw it describes Half-Life 2 perfectly as well
Wouldn't go that far. It was good but it was far from "amazing", when was the last time you played it? Played it again recently since I picked it up last year for like £2 in an XBLA sale, it does not play anywhere near as good as I remember it being.
>not still playing it for the cool atmosphere and setpieces
>not still playing it for the cool audio logs and world building
>We must tell them.
>They must know.
It just wasn't fun.
For all its technical marvels and hours of content and blah dee blah, it just wasn't fun to play. I couldn't even have fun rampaging, you know, one of the most popular things to do in GTA, grab a gun, shoot up some motherfuckers, but I can't because the AI are assholes who can hit you with a hundred percent accuracy from a kilometer away.
Holy shit, watching movies like that after you've already seen them is actually an unique experience. It's like having a flashback and instantly remembering everything as if you'd just watched it normally.
I think it's nostalgia and appretiation that it tried different character naratives.
>Paige gets kidnapped too early and you don't develop enough of a bonding to him.
>CARLSON AND PETERS! or whatever the fuck that human you saved kept repeating.
>Combat is pretty much as refined as it was in Stairfax Temperatures
>Stealth is so laughable
>game only has two real "dungeons/temples" and the third one, the moon, feels extremely rushed
>boss fight is full of bullshit you can't dodge and the only tactic is to have a shit-load of health regens.
>cliffhanger was more forced and more "who cares" than the ending of that fucking dragonball movie.
It's alright, but people giving it glowing descriptions today is like when Adam Sessler described how fucking revolutionary and enlightening Bioshock Infinite was.
Fuck you for reminding me.
And double fuck you. I got every god damn jiggy in that game just to spite it. It's actually a pretty fun game but a constant painful reminder, in every sound, every polygon, every texture, that it isn't banjo-threeie and how Nintendo and Microsoft proved to the world that their corporate decisions would codify the end of the last great age of video games.
