God I'd love to see a /v/ sings of Birthday Cake. It'd be so awful.
>play jet grind radio
>beat all my cousins at multiplayer
When is JSRF going to be on steam?
I just finished the first game the other day and I had a fucking smile from the moment I started a new file all the way to the end, so much fun.
Cube best girl
>SEGA put the easily emulatable game on Steam
>still no JSRF PC port
>it will never be 2000/01 again
> there will never be another jsr
> the Japanese grudge scene of the lat 90s has came and past
You will spay the dreamcast/xbox for the first time ever again
PLACE YOUR BETS NOW LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!
FOUR AND HE MADE IT THE HARD WAY
PAY THE FRONT LINE TAKE THE HARD
WE GOT A SHOOTER AND GOOD ONE
why is this game so damn
MAKES ME FEEL GOOD OOOOOOH!
MAKES ME FEEL SO GOOD, GOOD
her and Gum but I like Gum a bit more I think.
> there will never be another jsr
speaking of which,
what does /v/ think about this.
it's already funded and they got naganuma for the soundtrack. it's a JSR and mirror's edge mix apparently.
JSR Piranha and Mew = best girls.
hated their Future designs
>tfw there are kids who will never get to experience the glory that is Jet Set Radio
>You will never sit in a garage with your friends doing your dance/idle animation listening to funky music
STOP PLAYING GAMES TILL I'M DONE EXCHANGING NAMES
UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND
i want to play jet set radio future so bad.
is there any way to emulate it?
i have only played jet set radio and i fucking loved it, i really need t play future
Come along, children.
Now we're gonna have a little music
Like Old Times-Like Old Times
Look, now I'll start the melody on the Organ
Would anyone be intererested in me uploading the original jp version of the dreamcast game? it has a bunch of differences and was never re-released, had to go on some chinese site to get the damn thing.
everyone knows gum is the best girl, cmon son. there's a reason she's in sanic kart
game, not really. There's an anime that very blatantly has a lot of inspiration from JSR called air gear (they even got the main jsr music guy to do the soundtrack)
it's sort of horrible, but if you really gotta scratch that itch try it out.
Future had some really fucked up re-designs for the girls, but most of the boys look way better so it evens out
>looks like shit
okay, now you're just being completely delusional. come the fuck on. it looks gorgeous. I'm only worried about the stupid narrative about "gamers" and furries but apart from that it looks rather dope.
Also, who is the better police officer, /v/?
Hayashi or Onishima?
>you will never have a gang of bros and qt's
I really don't get why they picked THAT song, since cibo matto has some really good music that would fit instead of being the audio version of stockholm syndrome
Not that guy, but it really does look terrible aesthetically. Colours are all over the place and the city doesn't seem to have a single unifying concept to it. Gameplay looks pretty rad though.
According to the japanese manual for the first game, beat ran away from home and tried joining a bunch of different gangs before the game starts.
Since the interview in the HD version has the creators talk about how they intentionally made the characters without thinking about backstory the way more modern games do, I thought it was interesting they put that in anyway (future manual has some wierd one off lines about backstory too, now that I think abot it)
Onishima was way more dedicated but I just like Hayashi's character design more.
The first three characters in JSR are basically a difficulty setting.
tab has lots of health, solid and spraycans, so it's pretty hard to fuck up or get too annoyed, beat is in the middle, and gum has no health and no spraycans but is one of the best characters for getting points
>tfw don't have xbox huge
>tfw game dips under 10 fps playing on 360
Oh well atleast the first area doesn't lag and I can get nostalgic for a moment.
arigato arigato arigato arigato arigato arigato arigato arigato arigato arigato
>tfw jsr introduced you to jurassic 5
Doesn't dip under 10 fps for me, cept maybe in areas with a lot of stuff, like Shibuya Terminal, where the pedestrians are.
I'm currently replaying it on 360, So i dont know how it handles other areas.
I've actually played the original JP version. probably the most fucked up change is that when you're fighting poison jam they have a completely different route. one in particular will actually LEAVE THE AREA for a bit in order to skate up to a hidden tube that shoots you back out into the sewers, and if you follow him you get a game over for going out of bounds.
also the order you unlock characters in is way different (in part because chapter 2 doesn't exist), the skaters you recruit just by going through the main story in future are all found in the same general areas you recruit them in this original JP version
The fucking best.
I listened to that shit non-stop after first hearing it
>mfw I found out this guy voiced Professor K
it felt so weird seeing him in
Sons of Anarchyafter
You are in for a wild ride. Get ready for massive drops in later areas.
I was playing on the sega gt / jsrf disc though. I hear it's better on the standalone jsrf copy.
Looking at the dialogue and everything else I'm really glad they were more consistent with JSRF's narrative and cutscenes. JSR was a flawed gem but a gem it was. shame the HD version got bombed for being so flawed sometimes.
>tfw you're not sure if you should be happy that this series is dead outside of cameos or not because you're afraid sega would ruin a new game
JSRF is a really weird sequel to me, and not just because parts of it feel like an actual sequel and others like a starfox 64-style remake.
Like, JSR does some things really well, and JSRF does some things really well, but neither of these things really overlap and both games have their own unique and pretty savage issues.
It's a real shame they never made a third game that could combine the good parts of both.
Can't you just buy a fatbox in a bargin bin or something? It really is that bad. some of the later levels even slowdown a bit on the original system that isn't running a shitty emulator
I forget the names of levels but in that area with the giant dragon in it with tons of civilians it drops insanely I mean you might as well be watching a poorly made gif from the Internet. After that it wasn't too bad. The areas with no civilians seem to play fine for the most part but there's always gonna be lag in the big cities.
JUST GOT WICKEDDDDDDDDDD!
JSR is shorter, but it's also a lot more focused on replaying the levels for points (there's no NG+ in future even though you only unlock half the characters after you beat the game, meaning once you replace all the police grafiti all you can do is skate or make a new save,)
You can't even play for score without finding the hidden tapes and it's more about finding a specific rail that gives you way more points for no reason then finding infinite grinds like in JSR
I do have a fatbox with completed data on it. But I'm actually just replaying it on 360 so i can play it with friends when i go back to campus this fall.
Also im trying to make clips for webms, and thats where the 360 comes in handy
>tfw beat waited for you in the halfpipes if you lag too far behind
>you still lose
>that fucking gate at the end of the halfpipes
One thing I really like about both games is the detail that goes into their cityscapes.
in the dreamcast game they're very methodical in re-creating parts of tokyo, and in the xbox game they're very dedicated to selling that this is a shitty almost cyberpunk city owned by a giant business group
>you will never have a happy neon hip hop crew that skates around town dancing and having fun
>tfw you will never live in jsrf
You know, i never noticed how awkward the rail detection in jet grind radio.
sometimes i completely miss rails despite landing super close to them or right above it.
This happened alot in the Yoyo race.
>all these losers playing JSRF on their threeshitties
>not buying and modding a hueg just to play JSRF
i wish i had one of those xboxes that's been modded out the ass with a 1GHz processor to see if JSRF runs any better
i'm an american and i only know it as JSR because i pirated the PAL dreamcast version by accident
you should watch the documentation/making-of about JSR.
the director basically confirmed it was one of his first works so yeah, the stupid inbetween cuts of the camera are fucking stupid.
I've been thinking about buying an xbox for jsrf
Is it worth it? is jsrf hard to find/expensive?
it's the worst feeling in the world not knowing these pleasures, man...
>Cube will never take your hand to go on a skate date with you, away from all the craziness of neon lights and loud nigger music...
>Spraying a police officer that has a gun in the face with spray-paint
>Spray-painting the windows of helicopters causing them to crash
>Taking down an entire mob operation with rollerblades and spray-paint
GG's ain't nothing to fuck with
Is it normal to come close to breaking down into tears every time I think back to JSRF and fantasizing about it getting a remake worthy of the legacy, because it just happened again thanks to this thread.
>you will never enjoy a good burger after a night of painting the city with your gang
buy an xbox and softmod it instead of buying jsrf, then you can play other games on it without getting jewed on ebay.
easiest way is to solder a female usb port into a memory card or controller and use a game-specific exploit on something dirt cheap like splinter cell 1.
Hell yeah it's worth it because Kung fu chaos the best fucking game ever will not play on 360. So do yourself a favor and get that too.
that and many games have audio / graphical errors / fps drops when played on 360
Jsrf combo disc is pretty easy to find and not too expensive. I think I remember getting it pretty cheaply back in 2012 or 2013.
I...I might as well put a gun to my head and pull the trigger. I mean what's the point anymore
Not with my shitty third world internet. Sorry. Here's the torrent where I got it from. I'll try seeding it when I figure out how to seed a finished torrent.
What was up with all the wierd almost-sequel stuff in future? The DJ being way older and all that stuff with beat in particular.
One of the conversations at the garage that's only in the jp version (for some reason they cut a lot) has one of the characters say that all the stuff with rokaku has happened before, too.
This series is very much not one you play for any sort of narrative, which makes this stuff stand out even more.
>WE GOT ALL THIS AND MORE IN STORE
>you will never be part of the gang
are we getting lewd now?
Has anyone played Zineth? It's a free indie game clearly inspired by JSR/JSRF and it's pretty fucking fun. Has some cool speed and momentum in the skating
>This series is very much not one you play for any sort of narrative, which makes this stuff stand out even more.
this is so true. I think nobody should really take it too seriously because this game is more about icons and representation and being pure fun expressing several subcultures in music and graffiti culture rather than having fully fleshed out characters with deep but also intrusive backgrounds. Hence the comic style. that was their point. Not a single game out there truly needs narrative.
Only a little lewd, anon.
Dont ruin this, JSRF/JSR threads are a rarity on /v/.
I think it's neat how the first three characters in jsrf all wear blue so that they actually look like they belong in the same gang like all the other groups do, but I like the JSR outfit better
Isnt the story of the game left to speculation? Im pretty sure at the end of jsrf, Professor K implies the story may or may not be made up.
I havent played the game in a long time
Banksy ruined graffiti for everyone with his 2deep4u political commentary gay shit
air gear starts off cool and about skating but turns into a battle manga about saving the world with your superpowers and shit
make sure you watch it in english, it really adds to the whole punk skater thing
also word of caution, it literally doesn't have an ending because they didn't want to make an original ending and the manga went on for ages (and went full retard)
Yes in huge cities I suppose. Last time I was in LA I saw some cool shit.
I live in a tiny town so nothing here but stupid Mexicans that look like they are trying to imitate a 12 year old in ms paint.
Every once in a great while a train will come through town with a master piece sprayed across multiple train cars.
Most of the stuff that the anime covers is pretty good, even the battle manga bits.
I mean damn, there's
a dude who's so good at rollerblading he can stop time, that's so dumb you can't help but be into it
All these years and I can't pick a favorite
I live in LA, there's two really big billboards I drive by on the way to work and back home that keep getting this shitty graffiti over the bottom 25%. Doesn't even look good, just some garbled letters.
> Put in all the effort
> 100% the game
> Unlock Potts
> He's shit
fucking FPS furry shit, empty cubes for background...
But the cake made from milk 3 years old and love.....
potts is horrible at getting points but he's the best skater in the game and despite having a tiny baby health bar he's basically invincible because he takes heavily reduced damage from everything
it's the reverse of goji, who looks like he has lots of health but loses it all in 2-3 hits, and only has that big health bar for more points
>JSRF will never be ported to PC
I am beyond mad.
Come on it takes a talented guy to identify the shapes needed to put into stencil and still get this realistic charm to it especially on his human figures. I'm saying design-wise he's got his shit. Like, less is more.
My city has this yearly competition where they let the graffiti artists to paint over a... 300m stretch of wall or so.
Haven't passed there recently though, so no idea what the hell is there, if there's anything there at all.
There's not a whole lot of JSR/F fanart of such quality, so I'm willing to overlook minor inaccuracies.
Tell me there's one place from where I can download everything that Skankfunk ever released.
There's nothing there, anon.
Why must you torment me so?

What I hate most are those racing missions.
Now, imagine being me, and playing that shit with a keyboard.
Imagine how many hours it would take to complete it.
You guys and this thread are proof that late night /v/ understands the concept of love.
I give this gift to you, all of the graffiti ripped from both games. Thanks to the kind anon who gave this to me a long time ago.
Does anyone here actually have rollerblades and use them?
pro JSR tip, dash jump all the time
JSR has actual momentum behind it's skating instead of the hyper magnet rocket skates in future, and since it was a dreamcast game it's a little wonky
God dam my urge to play this game is so fucking high right now...
>tfw I sometimes find the SegaGT2002/JSRF case laying around my house
>tfw I open it and the disk isn't in there
>Why did you run from me....
You are a fucking good person. Late night /v/ is best /v/
I have some and I sometimes see some girls skating in the city but personally I would go skate near the river canal because that's where a lot of skate and bike shops and enough lanes are to try it out without bumping into somebody.
JSRF was both electrifying and totally chill at the same time. They made a game that felt like you were doing something super cool. I dunno how they did it, but I wish they made another game using all sorts of cool TECHNOLOGY to make it a bit smoother and a larger scope.
Thanks /v/ for keeping the game always fresh in my memory like it should.
Graffiti is art. However, graffiti as an act of vandalism is a crime. Every state/province has vandalism laws that apply to graffiti, and local entities such as cities and counties have anti-graffiti ordinances.
Violation of these laws can result in a fine, probation or a jail sentence.
SEGA does not condone the real life act of vandalism in any form.
Yeah, I myself go to the hiking area near the rivers too since on work-days in the morning there's not a whole lot of people there.
>no one posted the best song
And the midday heat isn't exactly mild either.
That kickstarter game is disappointing to me... it doesn't seem to have style.
It has A style, sure.
Although the truth is that I'm probably just jelly I couldn't make a spiritual successor with based hideki naganuma doing that soundtrack. This seems undeserving of the funk.
/v/ favorite map?
I would have to vote 99th Street, it was small but I just loved being there, it was so lively (even when it was a night map) and different from the others. Just super comfy.
>i wish i had one of those xboxes that's been modded out the ass with a 1GHz processor
Actually, word on the street says they're really shitty for a good amount of HUEG games since a lot of programmers at the time depended on the 733MHz clock for timing.
>Mfw there will never be an open world game where you play as skaters or cops
>Mfw there will never be multiple skater factions which fight for control over sectors and maps, ranging in multiple sizes, through tagging
>Mfw you will never unite the gangs to fight cops who are growing increasingly active to take those same sectors and are also players
>Mfw you will never shoot skaters as the cops with machine guns and tanks
>Mfw you will never backstab those gangs while they are fighting the cops, and instead send your forces to tag the fuck out of their area
Late to the party as always, going to post some stuff that hasn't been posted yet
>Duplicate files all the time
I love love love you guys
Hey, everyone in this thread.
go to 35:35 in this video
99th street, that one daytime level where it's a bunch of alleyways between apartment buildings, and that one dusk level where the level is set up as an oval shape with a big wall in the middle
